Worried about Sinclair he seems to be half the player he was last year. We look comfortable and boss games but there is definitely a spark missing. Roberts? For me Rogic is already showing effects of playing right through the summer. Athen bright spots Griff, Sumo, megregor and of course KT!,

Believable4 Unbelievable1

11 Aug 2017 23:48:35
Seen BR post match interview he was asked about PR and any update no nothing to report all speculation nothing there so will there be a twist in the tale and sign PR later fingers xd but bring in a striker before Wednesday?

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Aug 2017 03:15:32
Sinclairs work rate, tracking back, defensive duties are all to class. When he's not scoring he's playing left back.

Agree2 Disagree2

12 Aug 2017 07:18:57
Aye his work rates still first class he's just not as direct as last season Bitton is a worry for me playing at CH he looses sight of his man to easy and a decent striker will punish that. Think if we signed PR for the game on wed it would certainly lift the team/ club.

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Aug 2017 07:36:03
Just play ajer at cb he's more natural than bitton.

Agree1 Disagree1

12 Aug 2017 07:38:57
Maybe br should convert Sinclair to a left back and move calvin Miller back into the winger position then when Armstrong leaves in steps Tierney as attacking left midfielder . no money spent left side sorted . good idea kenlike eh?

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Aug 2017 08:41:04
Kenlike naw.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 12:59:27
The PR saga has given this window a smoke screen, kept us all too busy. I'm keeping the powder dry till we make it through.
Far too much paper/ click bait stories. I'll say this though im thinking of putting Southampton on the list.
Cheap foster/ vvd/ vick deals (SA? )

Wouldn't want to guess what foster bids would be now to sell, vvd transfer deal blocked denying us a cut when he wants to move, vick sold for less as the above %cut would of went to us. Now true or not papers are publishing SA's 1 year left price as 3m? With our old "mates" happy to pay it obviously. I'd rather we didn't deal with from now on.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 23:13:28
My team for Wed would be

Gordon
Ralston
Lustig
Simo
Tierney
Forrest
McGregor
Brown
Armstrong
Sinclair
Griff

Ideally Roberts for Jamesy here's hoping.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

11 Aug 2017 23:28:58
Wouldn't have Armstrong in the starting 11 just now he's been rotten so far think we all know why.

Agree3 Disagree2

12 Aug 2017 07:35:19
No Ntcham?

Agree2 Disagree1

12 Aug 2017 13:51:41
Ntcham for armstrong and I'd agree. Was impressed with Ntcham v partick, armstrong is off the boil big time.

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Aug 2017 14:45:57
Ntcham was good in the middle, but his forward passing into tight spaces rarely connected. If you don't believe me watch the game again. Armstrong for me is more effective, will score more goals and gives a better balance to us both defending and attacking at speed. All the crap about surrounding Armstrong has deeply affected him, but I would put him in along with brown, Rogic and Ntcham and drop Mcgreggor. If paddy is back then he's in with griff and Sincy.

Probably be Hayes and Forrest though. With Rogic and Armstrong but surely Brendan can see Hayes is out of his depth?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 23:02:05
Kolo Tore: couldn't he have been the answer in there, and what's the craic with that?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

11 Aug 2017 23:10:16
BBC reporting that BR says that he is hopeful of bringing in some maybe even before CL game could it be Roberts I wonder?

Agree1 Disagree2

12 Aug 2017 12:22:45
Kolo was on a serious wage last year and to be fair to him did his part to get us through to the groups. Made a few errors and stepped back. I read true or not, north of 30k mentioned as his salary last year.

Saw in other thread's he was wanting to play with a full contract or get involved with his national side youth development which is always an honourable part of African players ambitions to give back to their communities to support those that haven't made it yet.

We have 1 fit natural cb, ajer, lustig, nb, kt and if pushed broony as cover.
We won't buy a ready-made cl cb this window.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 21:45:18
Well that was a struggle lads! Last 20 min were awful to watch! Something's missing IMO, missing a spark!

Agree1 Disagree1

11 Aug 2017 22:33:41
Scott Sinclair has been very out of sorts. Hayes looks like the jersey is weighing heavy on his shoulders too. Bitton is a big worry for me for the Astana game as they should have had a penalty due to his lack of urgency and clumsiness.

Agree2 Disagree1

11 Aug 2017 23:03:16
We are 3 positions short RW CH and Forward going with Forrest up top ant cutting it.

Agree1 Disagree1

12 Aug 2017 06:26:52
FFS lads, its the 2nd game off the season, at least give them a few games to get match fit before you start giving them pelters,

Agree1 Disagree3

12 Aug 2017 07:33:28
A few games last season Roberts was missing in action too . its easy to say if one of the guys are having an of game Roberts is the answer because he's not there .

Agree0 Disagree2

11 Aug 2017 21:43:11
Well that was truly abysmal. The worst performance in a couple of years. Hayes needs sent back. Truly woeful and a worry for Wednesday.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

11 Aug 2017 22:05:52
Bit dramatic mate, granted it wasn't a great performance but until we get our injured players back fit and playing we're going to get some disjointed performances. it's been made perfectly clear that Rodgers isn't going to just sign for the sake of it. Bitton isn't a centre half no matter what anyone says and Forrest isn't a striker either and never will be. I just hope we can get through this Astana tie playing with a centre mid as a centre half and with only one fully fit striker as is I've said unless Rodgers has a change of heart that's what he's intending on doing with the possible exception of wee roberts.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 22:12:31
Bit harsh, hardly truly abysmal. Poor yes. I think your wrong to single Hayes out, most of the players didn't really get going. Give the wee man time eh, too early in his celtic career to judge i feel.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 22:22:01
Agreed. Hard work but a wins a win. The team for Wednesday almost picks itself but to me it's the difference between a 4-3-3 starting wee McGregor or a 4-2-3-1 with Rogic.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 22:49:12
you know what

0-1 celtic.

that's what's wins championships, clean sheet and a lump of luck

need more for astana tho.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 22:53:38
Day one in a Celtic career is judgement day. Hayes needs to step up. He's had lots of game time now.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 23:05:40
Hi lads first time posting πŸ‘

I think some people are forgetting is that is 51 games unbeaten and game is gone now and 3 points in the bag. Astana game will be totally different and perhaps just as tough but then again maybe not. We all just have to get behind the boys on Wednesday night πŸ‘Œ

Hail Hail πŸ’šπŸ€.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 23:12:14
51 undefeated going for 55 mon the hoops πŸ˜πŸ€.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 00:26:54
Second game of the season. Win 1-0 and people are calling it 'truly abysmal'. You must be joking. Rested Griffiths, rogic, Armstrong who were obviously main men last season. Go find something genuine to moan about.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Didn't we draw with Thistle at home last season? They seem to be team we either scud or struggle against over the last 6/7 years. It was a poor performance tonight but we came away with the points, it's job done and move onto Wednesday.}

12 Aug 2017 01:24:35
Well said NT, beggars belief when you read some of the comments after a win to make it 51 domestic games unbeaten. 47 wins 4 draws and you get comments like truly abysmal. Did you support Celtic from 1990-98 Magicpole? A bit of over reaction tonight I think a, " not at our best" would of done.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 07:24:07
We beat them 1-0 just before Christmas and it was a struggle it was my wee boys first game and I remember Thistle actually tried to play football it's 3 points all the same.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 07:39:58
The game should have been finished in the first half just needed the second goal. think we need to calm doen a bit.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 07:50:32
I also think partick will be a decent side this year. Did well last year and looked not bad. I also don't think it was a penalty.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 08:22:09
Abysmal ma erse! If not for their keeper havu g a good night it would have been 3 or 4. Yes we weren't on the top of our game but it's the 3rd game of the season and we are missing key players. Teams who play poorly and still win are only called one thing. champions. get a grip and support the bhoys. IBWT Hail Hail.

Agree2 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 09:23:01
We were stuttering. Our passing was awful. The balance of the team and fluency has dipped. We are going into the two most important games of the season hoping to have at least one striker fit and a midfielder playing at CB. We were told we would have players in and settled to go ahead in these games.

With last seasons team these games wouldn't worry me in the slightest, but we don't. Ntcham looks good, but his final ball last night was nowhere. He needs time, unfortunately we have used it all up and have five days to get it right.

Need this morning we are looking at a striker and CB with jess than a week to go. I'm sorry, but if anybody thinks that's good management I cannot agree.

Hopefully last night was a reaction to the nerves about Wednesday. That griff makes it and my team for Wedbesday would be.

Gordon
Lustig Simo, Bitton, KT
Armstrong, Brown, Rogic, Ntcham
Sinclair Griff.

It won't be that, but that's how I would go.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 10:22:56
Magic the first half was fine one way traffic gordon could have sat with me if we'd scored the second the games by second half was poor agreed but the pen incident aside we were comfortable.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 10:28:06
It's plainly obvious where we are having problems. The only worry is the lack of any urgency to find solutions. Said in past, if CL money is such an important revenue stream, our lacklustre approach to getting it baffles me.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 12:29:27
i think it's clear at least it is to me that sinky needs a striker in the team to function in his natural way. He doesn't do what he does best when he doesn't have a focal point to his play. A 3rd striker is a must if Rodgers doesn't trust aitcheson. Surely there must be a player we could get on a six month loan to fill in till the moose is back in full flow. Griffiths was never going to be risked if not needed, but 1-0 is dodgy against anyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 12:30:51
When all is said and done a win is a win no matter who we play.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 21:41:38
Not sure the slight changes in the midfield is working.
Sinclaire isn't playing wide enough this season and I think it's nullifying his best attributes. Going a at defender one on one.
It's also breaking up his partnership with Tierney.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

11 Aug 2017 21:40:20
Below par performance tonight, however a wins a win. Heads on the big game on wednesday now.

Agree0 Disagree1

11 Aug 2017 19:33:31
Just listening to Chris Sutton on BT saying how this celtic team is not as good as the team that Beat Astana last year. What a load of rubbish. He then says that Celtic need to do everything they can to get Paddy Roberts in for the game. As the deadline has passed for the play off round it doesn't matter if we get him in before Wednesday as he cannot play. Sutton the expert?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - You can make a wildcard signing up until midnight of the day before the first leg, Tuesday for us.}

11 Aug 2017 19:42:48

11 Aug 2017 21:31:05
line up from last home tie
Gordon
Janko

Roberts Substituted for Johansen at 31'
Forrest Substituted for Dembele at 75'
Griffiths.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 21:44:09
My only worry is only one CH and one CF going into such a big game.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 21:46:45
Guys we consistently play players out of position this season, that tells me that we don't have enough cover in the squad.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 21:49:54
Looked good for first 20 mins but Sinclaire has really gone backwards. We just picked too many poor passes. Bitton is never a centre half. Forrest can't open up defences, Hayes not what we need. If BR does not think we need another striker then I am lost for words. We don't play Griff in case he gets an injury and if he does pick up an injury what do we do? We need to buy a centre half and a striker and do it quick.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 23:27:59
No mate Roberts played.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 23:36:01
Apologies I didn't realise that an emergency signing could be made. Perhaps I will check and then double check my facts Kev before I give an opinion although you agree with me?

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 10:16:21
Having to make emergency signings at all is a sign of bad, even worse, complacent planning. Everybody knew we needed a CB even if Boyata and Shev were fit. They a both bomb scares. Cover for FB after Izzy left. Replacing Roberts with Hayes, who was so out of his depth in Rosenberg, that it was easy to see why Aberdeen eff up every year. Armstrong saga dragging on and Ntcham hasn't found his killer forward pass yet. I think Armstrongs a better player and not playing Rogic astounds me. Hayes getting on before him is bewildering.

If we get through I hope lessons are learned. I doubt that very much though. I had great hopes our CL preparation would change. We were supposed to have things sorted to make qualification easier. That's what Rogers said. Well, it hasn't happened and we go into these games hoping we have a striker and a midfield player at CB.

That is just not good enough. We are praying Paddy comes back, we need him on Wednesday. Forrest and Hayes combined couldn't lace his boots.

I honestly believe Armstrong is away after the qualifiers. That said i've been really impressed with young McGregor - wasn't picked for the first euro match but put his head down and earned himself a starting place ahead of Rogic who i love. So, what i'm saying is no one is bigger than the club - there are always ample replacements.

3 million for Armstrong? Tell them to do one cheeky b*****ds. I'd rather let him run down his contract that let any team get away with that.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

11 Aug 2017 09:33:36
They can double that and let him get on his way! 6 million for a player in the last year of his contract would be good business! Said it a few times, the lads heads just not in it at the moment! Get as much as we can for him and reinvest it in a winger/ striker! He's obviously got no intention of signing a new deal so we move on! The sooner the better because I'm sick of hearing it now!

Agree2 Disagree3

11 Aug 2017 09:47:18
think he wants two yrs but club want three, give him his two yrs and punt him in jan.

Agree2 Disagree2

11 Aug 2017 10:00:29
Offer him the deal he wants rather than lose him. If that wasn't to work. I'm with Lh just sell him and reinvest in an attacker.

Agree4 Disagree2

11 Aug 2017 10:14:12
He obviously doesn't want to sign lads so like I said on your way son! Bigger and better have left before him. squeeze as much money out of one of the also rans in the promised land and put this to bed!

Agree1 Disagree2

11 Aug 2017 10:29:58
@Lh86 I don't buy into this talk about his head not in it. He's played in 5 games and scored 2 goals which is good for a midfielder. Personally I want him to sign an extension as he looks more dangerous when playing than most of our centre mids that said if he doesn't want to commit after Astana away match take 3-5 million and please celtic reinvest in a player not a potential player.

Agree1 Disagree3

11 Aug 2017 10:51:07
Jim his body language has been off since the start of the season, I think it's actually quite plain to see mate! And I think we'd all have loved him to sign an extension mate, and he's our best goal scoring midfielder no doubt! But he's had plenty of time to sign a deal and the time has come to move on! Like I said before we've lost bigger and better than him in the past! Just want it put to bed now and concentrate on the players who actually want to be there.

Agree5 Disagree3

11 Aug 2017 11:30:32
I still think he might sign. But if we are only getting 3 million for him I'd keep him till end of season.
Worth more on the pitch than that crappy figure.

Agree1 Disagree5

11 Aug 2017 11:37:45
Itll only be 3mill if the club are daft enough to accept that there's bang average players down south going for 3 and 4 times that. Just get the market value for an international and cl experienced player and if not then anno itll hit us in pocket but run down his contract and get the best out him.

Agree1 Disagree3

11 Aug 2017 12:00:06
Swap him for forester.

Agree0 Disagree2

11 Aug 2017 12:03:51
I think you're being disrespectful suggesting his body language is off as he in my opinion gives 100% and looked happy when he scored in midweek and disappointed when keeper pulled off a good save to deny him. I'm not arguing the point about selling him if he doesn't want to extend his contract but i don't doubt he'd give full effort at least till Christmas if need be.

Agree1 Disagree5

11 Aug 2017 12:09:51
Will we get the best out him but that's the question! I'm not sayin just accept the first offer that comes but for me anything 5 million up I would take! I don't want a player in the team who isn't committed to the club! What does that say to the other guys in the dressing room who've committed to the club!

Agree2 Disagree1

11 Aug 2017 12:18:05
Andre Gray went from Burnley to Watford for 18 million and he had only one year left on his contract. On top of that he's rank rotten. Three million is a joke.

Agree2 Disagree1

11 Aug 2017 12:22:52
It's down to Rodgers and the player and the club really. I can only hope that we will just offer him what he wants. They'll know together when he wants to leave. If it's now, or next season, then sell him now. If he wants a two year extension then I'm confident he would give his all for that duration. And I think we can all live with players having their own ambitions. Give him the two year extension, get two seasons out of him, and sell him with a year left (providing acceptable bids don't come in before that) . He seems like a sensible chap, if he's after a move in the down the line, he'll know the best way to do that will by to continue trying to improve and by performing well.

Nothing to with being disrespectful Jim1972! I'm giving my opinion, and I feel the Armstrong from the end of last season and the one at the start of this look different players! I'm not questioning the boys commitment on the park, that couldn't be further from the truth! I'm questioning we're his heads at and if he sees his future with us? If not then see you later!

If he's wanting a move he shouldn't be playing. Even for his own sake incase he gets injured, the last thing we want is an unhappy player in the dressing room. Sign what's on offer or see ya.

Fair do Lh86 I see it differently and I'm more of the opinion that he's being made to look like the bad guy. The ed and others suggested the problem was the contract length that was the issue, if this is the case then more fool the club and they are forcing an issue over 1 year which to me as a fan is ludicrous. This whole thing should have been nailed down in the summer and start with a new improved contract or sold with a suitable replacement brought in. On a side note does anyone know if the green brigade are coming back soon or still waiting on a resolution?

Jim Jim if Celtic agreed to give every player who had 6 good months everything they wanted we might have no more Celtic.

Well Jim I think I've been vindicated in my comments about Armstrong after what Brendan had to say about it after the game! The contract situation is affecting his game, he was great last season and since this has happened his heads not been right! Doesn't give me any pleasure to be right by the way! Think this finally tells us he's for the off.

I think it also shows Brendan has been talking a lot of bull the last 4 months about the boy wanting to stay and being close to agreeing. I would prefer Brendan took a firmer stance in June to stop this situation developing days before our biggest match as I've no doubt it will be a big play in the media.

Jim, I regard the idle speculation on here with the light hearted amusement that it is posted as, good for fun, but not meant to be accurate .
We have no idea what separates Armstrong from the offer Celtic have made . B R has to maintain that both sides are not far apart as long as there is any hope he is going to sign .
Unless he doesn't want him to sign and then he can talk down the possibility.
