Anyone else notice today that Dunfermline have been threatened with being banned from next seasons Scottish cup unless they pay their debt to Hamilton Accies? I don't recall any other teams in administration being threatened with that!

Can anyone tell me when was the first recorded use of the modern 'wall' of players to defend a free kick? Also were any teams or individual coaches credited with coming up with the idea? {Ed007's Note - I'm not some kind of saddo but I have looked into this before lol There are a lot of people credited with starting using a defensive wall but in Danny Blanchflower's autobiography he talks about playing for Northern Ireland against Italy in a World Cup qualifier in Rome on 24 April 1957.

'We tried to do things that nobody else had ever thought of. We had to because they were a better side. We put up the first wall at a free-kick. They seemed to be frightened by the tactic. It did have its teething problems though. The referee had never seen it either, so when the Italians picked up the ball and moved it five yards away from the wall and shot it into the net, he gave a goal!'

now shoot me down if i'm wrong, because I honestly can't remember. so any of you that were there, did we not just pay £5 or £2 . if I am remembering correctly, they must be absolutely desperate. shammy

. NEWS EXCLUSIVE.

I can now EXCLUSIVELY reveal, ala screech jackson, that after extensive meetings with a certain owner of a downmarket south side club, we have been asked not to name him at this stage, but it rhymes with "has been" like his club. that this entreprenour and his business partner wee Pat fae posso, have acquired the assets of said football club and all properties and business premises (after all our bounced cheques are as good as anyone's)
during the meeting which lasted 5 hours, my colleague Patrick had to leave the meeting on 3 seperate occasions because of the profanities used by this south side owner. as you all know on here, wee Pat is very sensitive and abhors the use of bad language.
Once contracts have been exhanged our company have big plans for the whole area.
The stadium itself will keep its facade as it is a listed building but will transformed into executive flats, we also propose to build it's very own chapel for residents. other plans are for an animal sanctuary (naturally) or a wild life park to house the resident Ostriches, we will also be the only zoo to house the extinction threatened "bears with sore heads" colony.
More details will be divulged once wee Pat and I stop laughing. Timalloy/wee Pat fae posso Conglomerates inc.

Dear oh dear, I've not seen much of the news over the past few days but I've not just read the transcript on the STV website of the interview with Charles Green. What an absolute mortal embarrassment. No wonder Walter Smith is squirming!

The following is a direct transcript from Peter Smith's interview with Charles Green:-

PS: Have you ever misled the supporters by telling them what they want to hear?

CG: Never

PS: Never?

CG: Never

PS: You are clear about that?

CG: Yes

PS: What about when you said Manchester United were in favour of Rangers moving to the Premiership? They've clearly stated they were against it.

CG: The spokesman did.

PS: So you told Rangers fans Manchester United were supportive of Rangers moving to the English Premiership. Manchester United say they are opposed to it.

CG: So Sir Alex Ferguson wouldn't like to see Rangers in his league? Who is Manchester United? You define Manchester United.

PS: Who at Manchester United told you that you were wanted in the Premiership?

CG: I've had discussions with a number of clubs.

PS: Who at Manchester United told you that you were wanted in the Premiership?

CG: Well. why do we want to know that?

PS: I think there is evidence here that has been contradicted by Manchester United.

CG: It's been contradicted by a spokesperson from Manchester United.

PS: So is that spokesman not speaking for the club?

CG: My lawyers, who are advising on Rangers going into the UK, have been speaking to a number of clubs, representatives of clubs, to owners of clubs.
I am absolutely very, very clear, from the discussions I've had with various people who are speaking to football clubs who would welcome Rangers to play in the English football league.

PS: Can you tell us which clubs?

CG: No. I don't want to prejudice this club's chance of playing in England by disclosing stuff prematurely.

PS: What about when Imran Ahmad told Rangers supporters talks with the Dallas Cowboys were going well?

CG: Well they are. I've got an email now if you want to read it after this interview from Dallas Cowboys.

PS: The Dallas Cowboys have previously told us there were no such talks.

CG: I don't care, Peter, what they've said. I've just told you categorically, in front of the camera, when this interview finishes, I will show you an email where we are invited to go to Dallas Cowboys. The email came in three days ago.

So either believe me or not. If you don't believe me, you're entitled. But I'll show you and then I want you, separately, to apologies on camera to say you were wrong about Dallas Cowboys, OK?

So far, STV has not been shown the email from the Dallas Cowboys.

The rangers supporters are now likening themselves to Portsmouth's situation where the fans saved their club with their history in tact etc. what they don't seem to realise is that the pompee supporters saved their club from going in to liquidation! The The Rangers fans' forget that the old club was liquidated, therefore history is gone!
