Ed any idea how Brexit will affect Celtics European players. I read somewhere that only Lustig will be our only European player that will be eligible to be employed in the country down to the fact he has played a certain percentage of his countries internationals. Dembele, Simunovic and Boyota wouldn't qualify through this avenue and was wondering if you can shed any light on this. Also wonder if future transfer targets will have this in mind.

{Ed007's Note - Bit out of my knowledge zone, Stevie lad but Ed002 said this last week on the Liverpool site:

Ed002's Note - It is not actually clear what would happen with work permits. There would certainly not be any overnight change but the eventual position would likely be a need for work permits and residence permits. In terms of existing EU citizens already working in the UK, there is no plan but I would think an amnesty would be the likely decision followed by a quota system of some type. A good question but no firm answer I am afraid.}

I'm just sticking with that because anything else is just speculation - Brexit hasn't happened yet and Scotland could still be a part of Europe. ;)

Heard an angry voice in my head when I read the Scotland bit saying "NEVUR! " πŸ˜‚.

May I. Remind people when i posted last June that it wasn't clear how the Brexit vote could affect players in U k . I was sneered at and told I was stupid and didn't know what I was talking about .
( That hurt because I know I often don't know what I am talking about, but I don't like to be told that . )

I don't think we will see a big Money ( Net spend ) this transfer window. Given the players that will move on/ sold and the poss income from VVD sale . Circa Β£5m we could see our outlay almost zero.
which will not bother me as long as BR gets the players he wants he has stated he wants QUALITY not quantity.

10 May 2017 21:23:53
thats impressive peter speaking clydebank and airdrie languages, you must have went to college to learn airdrie? plus now you've moved to posh bearsden you will have learned english too, three languages that's not bad going mate.

ED007 with Brendan talking about the unity of the squad, do you think we should be even looking at guys like Onyekuru and the Chelsea lad who by all accounts are not team orientated and could cause problems in the dressing room, also both seem to be mercenaries only interested in who will pay the most bucks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Rodgers will know who him and the other staff can work with, he's weeded out the troublemakers we had.}

11 May 2017 07:30:17
Do we think we will see Janko given a chance or is he offski.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I reckon he'll be for the off and Ralston will be moved up to Lustig's back up as I wouldn't be surprised to see Gamboa move on too.}

10 May 2017 19:29:13
This window coming up could be our most interesting ever, with players leaving-
Commons
Toure
Roberts
Ambrose and poss outs
GMS
Cifti
Allan
Janko
OConnell
Henderson
and maybe even Christie that could be anything up to 100k a week on wages.
Not forgetting poss 4-5 for Virgil that's a hefty amount we have to spend along with our own money.
I think for the first time in years we will buy real quality, poss even players who would be automatic choices.
Not easy I know, but I trust Brendan to work his magic.
Intersting times ahead right enough guys.
Ps I checked out Solanke he reminds me of Costa in his style anyone else notice this.

10 May 2017 20:33:05
@Rayman did Brendan not say he had a role for Toure on the coaching side of things.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 May 2017 21:07:38
Tim think toure was always short term defensive cover / long term coaching backroom staff.

I heard that too mate, but I think as a player it will be his last season.

@Rayman, I keep a note of published contract expiry dates and although some others may not have been published the following is a list of players (mostly development squad) who may be finishing in the Summer.

Brandon Payne
Josh Kerr
Connor McManus
Luke Donnelly
Jamie Lindsay
Paul McMullan
Fiacre Kelleher
Leo Fasan
and possibly Aidan McIlduff.

Can't see any contract dates for
Sam Wardrop
Ross Doohan
Theo Archibald
Mark Hill
Colin McCabe

Always open to corrections.

hello all, nice to be back after a tough couple of years. ED, hope your good and the old legs mending. Been a while so where to start. New name for a kick off!

As a vintage Celt, late fifties, i have to say this is arguably the most proficient and adaptable Celtic team i have seen in fifty years of supporting this club. Brendan Rogers, there's a name i never would have connected with us, has performed something of a miracle here.

If we forget Moussa and Scotty for a minute the transformation in some players, almost all in fact, has been astonishing to watch. Tactically we are so far ahead of anything in Scotland i feel a bit of optimism creeping in re Europe.

Armstrong: Now looking like a proper modern European midfielder.

Broony: Playing like he's twenty five again.

McGregor: Confident and really looks he has settled into being a Celtic player.

And last but not least. Boyatta! What a turnaround. looked for all the world as if he was outa here, no murmurs of discontent either i would imagine, but WOW.

There are of course more but these for me are the pick. Throw into the mix the two utter sevco humiliations, and in the others bar one, playing them off the park,

This could be our moment . The board seem to have timed this all right. almost as if they finally want what we do. The Ten? never thought we would but now? We might be so good they can't cheat us out of it.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - Hi mate, I'm doing fine thanks. It's nice to see you posting and I hope you and the family are keeping well.}

10 May 2017 17:15:34
Long Time at hear FGJ, nice to have you back . Your spot I need with your thoughts on the turnaround in performances, for me Armstrong is our Captain on waiting.
Given the fact that we will have a few loan players back, the poss outstanding one being Christie and of course Ajer So what position in the team do we need to strengthen. This imho is the real issue, a better goalie to push Gordon or anther right back, a better Mid to push Rogic, we have McGregor another No10 . We have Armstrong and LG or isn't another striker . We have Moussa and LG . This is going to be a very very interesting transfer window, as will see what area BR really thinks needs strengthening. Anyway good to see you back FGJ.

Good to see you back GJ, now all we need is Mrs E to return lol.

10 May 2017 18:04:29
thanks ED, sadly two in laws passed within three months of each other but all better now. @PB: Great points and i have wondered myself about our squad. Centre halfs. check and then some. McCart and especially Ajer also getting good reviews.

Full back. With the emergence of Ralston, Jeeze there's a big Bhoy, And the continued progression of KT, with good old Izzy as back up were good there.

Midfield. Too long a list and we all know them suffice to say i agree with ED, Henderson will probably go.

Up front. Amazingly a wee bit short for me. Aitchison and Johnson maybe a bit young yet but BR has previous for playing kids. Solanko?

This is a real message send of a transfer window. Big signings will empty sevconia. Why its like the murray cheating years never happened. But they did. Karma sure is a bitch!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Sorry to hear that, I'm sure you were a tower of strength to the delectable Mrs GJ.}

10 May 2017 20:01:18
Always a pleasure to hear from you green jhedi (formerly) your posts r always spot on.
Big window indeed, we need to add 2 or 3 more of the dembele n Sinclair quality n for me we'd be looking very strong.
New goalkeeper, another striker n 2 creative players, would love Roberts to be one but time will tell.
Defense n midfield I'm happy with unless Brendan sees someone else in there with Broony n Armstrong pushed forward. I think the way Armstrong is playing n improving that's a good partnership with Broony.
Brendan has been brilliant since he came in, blip at red imps but other than that a dominant 1st season, but him bring free to be in charge of all that goes on in terms of being manager n the main man, we thrived with that n he has given us much joy this season, being a hoops fan is a joy in itself mind.
Just glad the board r backing him, as too long their ambition hasn't matched ours, we r a big club n could really push on n become at least regulars in the group stages as we have the basis of good team n the right bits of quality in in the right positions n i would be more than happy.
Here we go 10 in a row glad your back fgj.

So brendan just won manager of the month for April! Is anyone else getting bored with winning absolutely everything πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ young christie even won Aberdeens. Young player award 😜😜😜.

Believable12 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - I will NEVER get bored of Celtic winning. Supposing we win the Treble for the next 20 years and never lose a game in Scotland again I would still celebrate every trophy as if it was the first I'd seen. There is no better sight in Scottish football than watching Celtic's captain lifting a cup, none!
If the rest of Scottish football can't handle us that's their problem, we're there through sheer hard work and after accepting so many knocks along the way including competing against a financially doped cheating major opponent for years.
Do they expect us to stand still to let them catch up?
We deserve these times, Del, and we've earned it ALL in the right and proper way and long may it continue.}

I was trying to be sarcastic ed lol . Seeing the pain ooze out them is so satisfying. From their continuation myth to begging anyone with money to come help them . They don't know where to turn to or who to blame anymore . All the while the celtic juggernaut rolls on .

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I know you were mate but the press and TRIFC fans do try to push that line.}

10 May 2017 15:50:43
Your rite ed . The celtic are too rich for Scottish football line? 1 team dominating is no good for Scottish football? Where we're these headlines when the mssm were dining on succulent lambπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ changed days now mate . And no tax avoidance, ebt's in sight . It's been a long slog since Fergus's days but we are reaping the rewards now from the top of the club to the bottom . On and off the park . Out of curiosity? Did you read a certain bloggers piece yesterday about naming rights to the stadium? 😜.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - No, I didn't - did you remember and donate after reading it?}

10 May 2017 16:07:43
ED007 that has a nice ring to it
It's Magic you know
You;ll never beat TWENTY SIX IN A ROW lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We'll have left the rest of Scottish football behind and be up there with the cream of Europe in the Super League long before that. Unless they let us play our development squad in Scotland, they'll need someone for TRIFC to play and blame all their woes on ;)

10 May 2017 16:14:01
Av yet to see him begging lol was just an interesting read πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Oh, well at least it wasn't that imbecile John James then! The only blogs I really read are LaytonBhoy (James Forrest) and paddyontherailway or jabbatheagnivore which is a good laugh.}

10 May 2017 16:44:26
ED007 as you know I like The Clumpany he really takes the "P" out of the Scottish media.
But what I do not understand is all the negative sniping between Tim bloggers, we should all be working together to shine a light on all the cheating crooks in Scottish football.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think he tries too hard sometimes but he can be quite good. Don't you read paddyontherailway? That's right up your street....

10 May 2017 17:15:17
It was Phil macs blog a was reading . Was talking about middle east investment regarding stadium naming rights . Listed aviva and the Irish rugby stadium . 44 million 10 years ago! Read a lot on the comedy pages about middle east investment and always thought if they were to invest in Scottish football? Surely we would be a better option? It may all be bulls@#t but while riding high? Pl has been good at sponsors and merchandise deals! Imagine their faces if it happened? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ plus they hate Phil mac with a passion . The clumpanys quite funny too lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd love him to be right but I won't hold my breath. Two days ago Brian Wilson chaired a meeting with a wee clique of 50 uber supporters and there wasn't any mention of anything like that.
It seems we are getting new undersoil heating as the system we have is the oldest in the UK!}

10 May 2017 18:42:40
Is it right that the Ross County won the under 20s league?, if so, quite an achievement for a wee club.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2017 13:20:39
ED what are the chances of Celtic taking John McGinn on and is it worth it? Will he become one of the players we should have always signed but stalled on? I've not seen enough of him to have an honest opinion. I think Ajer will be sent out on loan again. Hopefully to another club that will respect Rodgers decision to play him at CB.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I said a while back that McGinn was the only player in Scotland I'd take at Celtic, although Liam Lindsay from Partick looks a good player too but we've got plenty in the middle of the defence.
John Park had McGinn scouted and we were keeping an eye on him but I don't know what the new scouting regime think of him. I'd imagine Lee Congerton will have watched him to see the player himself before deciding how and move moves forward.
We could loan him back to Hibs for a season and even throw in the waste of space Scott Allan and even though Lennon would rather sign Commons he might feel sorry for us and take Allan as well if it was on a free or just on top of their asking price.}

10 May 2017 15:44:59
Seen / read/ heared a lot about mcginn. Being touted as a long term replacement for brown . Like others a haven't seen enough to judge him personally. But like Mccarthy and mcarthur before him? It would be foolish to pass him up just now and end up being costly if he develops into the player he is being touted as .

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2017 15:47:46
I'd rather try for an established Euro level experienced guy (will we spend for that? ) and develop the boys we have. as I don't think he's better than Brown McGregor Armstrong rogic and on a par with Christie and Henderson.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - McGinn is completely different type of player than McGregor, Rogic and Christie though and I don't imagine he would be our main midfield signing this summer.
If we sell Bitton, McGinn would be a good replacement for him in the squad and I wouldn't be surprised to see Henderson move on this summer either.}

10 May 2017 16:47:38
Is there any word on The quality signings we hope to bring in hopefully CL level and where in the team do we look to strengthen?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Supposedly Rodgers wants a new CB, CM, ST and a RW depending what happens with Roberts.
Frederico Venancio a 24 year old CB from Vitoria Setubal could be someone we're looking at as a possible signing.}

10 May 2017 17:54:37
ed . re Henderson your own thoughts or have you heard something . delbhoy isn't that what kouassi was brought in for. and on him ed is he still hampered by malaria ( was it? )

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's just my own thought mate. I like him but he doesn't seem to be making any inroads in the squad and I think Neil Lennon could fancy taking him at Hibs if a deal's possible. Lennon will be looking for players he's worked with, can trust and has Premiership experience so I can see him looking to take a couple of fringe players from us.
I know they're free so not technically our players but I'll be surprised if Commons and Efe don't end up at Easter Road

10 May 2017 18:58:23
Deep river bhoy . To be truefull av never heard of kouassi. Am sure a read he sees it as a stepping stone like most foreigners. Bit like vvd? Come here play a season or 2 and hopefully triple our money or more. A bit like the oreyenku links . Buy the potential now if possible . Mcginn just seems like a mirror image of when we signed broony . homegrown and hope he develops and stays long term rather than chase riches?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Sorry DRB, I thought I typed a paragraph about Eboue Kouassi, and it's vanished, strange! Maybe the sh1t filter blocked it :)
He's well over the Malaria thing and everyone is happy with the way things are going with him.}

11 May 2017 15:05:13
I'd imagine eboue is a longer term plan and has to work for his position! ED where did the venancio rumours come from?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Someone told me we have been watching him.}

10 May 2017 12:50:55
Just noticed Celtic have activated the one year extention on Izzi's contract. Could they be thinking of cashing in on KT?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

10 May 2017 13:21:28

Young Johnston could put forrest out that Celtic team within the year, in calling it. Big prospect. Some debut.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

10 May 2017 11:52:23
Johnston can play both wings playmaker / c mid and attack. as can Miller nesbitt and hendry (who isn't just as comfortable on the wings) we have some talent coming through in that area. if our centre backs could progress a bit we could have a home grown team playing.
Gordon
Ralston
Mcart
Deas. Kerr. welsh (3 young boys)
Tierney
Nesbitt
Brown
Johnstone
Armstrong
Miller
Griffs

With McGregor Christie forrest Henderson hill 13 of whom are academy boys.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2017 12:11:32
I think he will have a place in the squad next season definitely, but I think if we make one major signing this summer it will be for that position so he'll have more than Forrest to contend with. Lennoxtown seems to be kicking into action though, we had five players from the academy on the park against St Johnstone, there on merit, which is an encouraging sign for the next couple of years.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 May 2017 13:12:02
Once johnstone fills out and becomes stronger we've got a real player and think ralston will save us a few quid as we don't need to buy a rb.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2017 13:23:31
Competition is key in all areas of the pitch. A player signed in that position can only be good for johnstons growth as a player! If he continues to produce he will be a big part of Celtic eventually! Deep river bhoy, you have a good point, the Development squad is looking very promising as it stands!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2017 16:06:42
We need to be very careful who we buy in and for what position . With the squad we have and talent coming through we certainly need to buy very good players and probably only a couple . The other thing is we have the very best coaches in Scotland and it seems to me rather stupid to send young players out to work with inferior coaches . We need to work on getting meaningful games against teams of similar age in Endland and on the continent.
