Scott Allan claims that the Celtic players want JK as the new manager. Is that because they think they have it easy with him? If that's the mindset then bring in Keano for a total feckin clearout of those who won't try and are happy to sit on their arses. HH.

Keano? Geez peace . he's a dinosaur that thinks you can still get away with screaming and bullying players.
We just got rid of one of those!

U think we need a manager who won't put up with some of these players. As few spoke on the site the players have a lot to answer for this season aswel.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2021 00:10:38
Besty I want to see a total clear out regardless who is manager. I was looking on transfermarkt and there is some good players out of contract in the summer based in EPL/ Championship that would be a vast improvement.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2021 03:09:49
He didn't say that they wanted him, What he said was "I think if you were to ask the players there is probably a lot of them that would be for John Kennedy. "
They would probably be happy as it's the usual old pals act.

Thankfully most of the squad will be gone in one way or another.

Most of them couldn't do their own jobs to get us in this plight, never mind think they can vote-in their 'bestie'.

Ed not that he will make a difference at the moment but what's up with Barkas? He has not been around the match day squad at the moment.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Barkas is just coming back from an ankle knock and only started back training at the end of last week.}

Ed another question. Can you mind years ago celtic cancelled a pre contract because the guy got injured?
Can you remember who it was?
Not the Coetzee deal though.

{Ed007's Note - I can't think of it at all, Kev.... does anyone else know?}

Not that I go by bookies. Buy Keane has dropped from 20/ 1 to 4/ 1 second favourite over night. Not really sure what's caused price to drop as not many reports about him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Mar 2021 17:47:55
It's probably a reaction to his post-Sevco title comments?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2021 17:57:30
OAB I thought that. But not sure there is enough in it to warrant people parting with money. I had expected a few headlines linking him with the role after that but none really appeared. However indo remember a rumour around November of MON and Keane offered role to end of season, with Keane then taking over. That's the only reason I think it could still be Keane. Even MON potentially as sporting director. Not sure how I'd feel if that was the plan.

ed007 could you shed some light on the statement Sheffield Wednesday have released considering our pre contract of there player. what can be up with it if he is into the last 6 month of contract as the player can speak to anyone when this happens. has club has no say in who the player speaks to.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I have no idea mate, it's pretty bizarre. The only think I can see is that Celtic were about to go back on a (gentleman's?) agreement not to announce the deal yet.}

What do we know about the laddie Shaw?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2021 14:41:10
It's on the BBC rumours page that Hendry is a £10m target for Aston Villa. Surely it would make financial sense to pull out all the stops to get him back, maybe give him a pre-season run and then punt him ourselves. I know the Belgian mob have the option to sign him for £2m but the player has a say in that too, surely we could sweeten the deal for him in some way to get him back and then punt him ourselves?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Mar 2021 16:23:51
If EPL teams are looking at him and for that kind of money, then maybe we should be giving the boy a chance. He didn't get of to the best of starts but there's a player there and he's ours already, so will be zero outlay, other than a possible contract extension.

10 Mar 2021 17:59:45
He is gash, if we got 10 bob for him I would sell.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, what is the difference between the sporting director role and the technical director role.
Man utd have just brought in someone for DOF and made Fletcher the technical director.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Essentially it is the same thing - it will vary from club to club but typically they will look after the whole football structure, oversee scouting and deal with matters of strategy - for example having the same style played at all levels.}

10 Mar 2021 15:15:47
Ed would it surprise you if Peter Lawell became our new DOF. 😅😅.

The Scottish media is trying to make Celtic look foolish after our “not half of anything”tweet last night because the club recently renewed the “old firm” trademark.
A source from the trademark company mentioned that the “old firm” trademark is an old one which isn’t used but continually get renewed for legal reasons to stop others benefiting from the name.
A previous renewed date was made by Celtic FC LTD and SEVCO SCOTLAND LTD.
There was nothing mentioned in the Scottish press about them only changing the renewed entry to Rangers LTD from 2018.

Answer me a question lads so how are they still able to use the Rangers FC on Jersey and fixtures, when that club went into liquidation. Everyone bar them don't admit they went burst and are a new club. It's not the old firm anymore but sly sports still promote it. Another media source who don't admit they went into liquidation and it's their 1st title. According to sly its number 55.

When Celtic Won the Coronation Cup in 1953 we were the outsiders of the British tournament.
Celtic finished a lowly 8th in the league that season and we were invited to take part in the tournament because Celtic were the reigning unofficial British cup holders after winning the Exhibition cup in 1938.
Other people believe Celtic were invited due to our massive support.
The other 7 clubs who participated in the knockout tournament had enjoyed recent success with winning titles and cups or reaching recent cup finals.
The 1953 Coronation Cup was made up of 4 Scottish clubs who were paired off against 4 English clubs.
In the Quarter Finals draw Celtic got the short straw.
Celtic got recently crowned English champions Arsenal.
It was mentioned that the Queen was a supporter of Arsenal back then.
Arsenal had won the title on average goals the week before.
The title would've remained at Highbury if it was decided on goal difference.
Arsenal were "Astounded" by Celtic, who ran out deserved 1-0 winners against the English Champions.
In our Semi-Final Celtic got Man Utd who were the English league champions from the previous season.
Man Utd beat Rangers in the Coronation cup Quarterfinals but they were not a match for Celtic, who ran out 2-1 winners.
It was Ironic that the British Cup Final would be contested by Celtic and Hibs.
Both clubs were started up by Irishmen.
A couple of weeks earlier Hibs missed out on a 3rd consecutive league title on goal average to Rangers.
The same as how the English title was decided that season.
If it was 3 points for a win Hibs would've won the league by One point.
Also if the league was decided by goal difference, Hibs again would've won the league by One goal.
Despite being the underdogs, Celtic went on to win another British cup final by beating Hibs and their "Famous 5" forward line 2-0.
The victory was achieved without our best player Charlie Tully who got injured in the Semi Final victory against Man Utd.
It was a magnificent achievement by Celtic.
Our Captain Jock Stein climbed the stairs at Hampden Park in front of 117,000 fans to lift the 1953 Coronation Cup.

Hi Buzz you are correct Celtic were invited to boost the attendance for the tournament. There is another version of Celtic winning the Coronation Cup which was written by a local man to the tune of Galway Bay which my father sang to me regularly, I can’t remember all of it only

Come and drink a toast with me to good old Celtic
for the boys in green and white who won the day
for the Coronation cup lies safe at parkhead
and it’s there the coronation cup will stay

now the cup it is a handsome piece of silver
and engraved upon it are the initials ER
and I’m sure that stands for exit rangers
For the gers they did not get do very far

now the boys who play beneath the flag of Ireland
have struck for Scottish football such a blow
for they beat the best that they could send from England
and showed them tricks the English didn’t know.

just remembered the third verse can’t quite remember the next verse, I loved listening to my father singing it to me .

Ed007, we all know that if you could have babies then you would want Roy Keane's lovechild.
We know you respect him for his playing days but why, specifically, are you not so keen on having him as our new gaffer? I'm not so keen on him myself purely because he appears to be intolerant of the modern day footballers attitude and I don't think they'd play for him but do you have other reasons for not wanting him and if so what are they? HH.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - For me Keane 💚Peace be upon him💚 belongs to the old school of managers along the lines of MON and Lennon (first time round) where his strengths are in his no nonsense man-management but they are all tactically limited.
If you're out there giving your all in matches and training during the week properly and with the required intensity, Keane won't have a problem with you, he holds players to the same levels that he played/trained at which isn't a bad thing imo - players like Brown and KT would have been right up Keane's street.
But that's it for me, that's all he brings to the table and because of that I don't think he would be a success unless he was willing to bring in a quality assistant (remember the Keane/RD "dream team" that DD wanted) and willing to relinquish control of coaching and training to them.
If it's Keane's ideas we used we'd be as fit as a butcher's dog but the actual tactical coaching wouldn't be up to scratch although I'd imagine it would still be of a higher standard than this season.
Keane working under a technically astute head coach and following his & the DOF's plans would be ideal for him.}

10 Mar 2021 11:09:34
roy keane is a natural winner and if your not giving your all you won't play the way it should be. as you pointed out ed007 its just the tactical side that would put me off keane being manager but has mostly everything else on what it takes for a side to win hard work graft and the will to win and nothing else everyone fights for each other on that pitch and no passengers. he was the main driving force in that man u team that was so successful.

10 Mar 2021 11:28:23
I also love Keane, and have no problem with putting a boot up the arse of players who dial it in, or throw their toys. But times have changed, and the main issue is around tactics. Although having said that Lenny didn't have any that were worth a feck so you never know how DD will go.

27 shots at goal,12 on target, Celtic players did not take there chances that were made.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2021 10:17:45
It’s very true as ED pointed out to myself yesterday the stats show how any chances etc created at the weekend but Kennedy’s substitutions were very questionable to say the least and while the players are at fault for creating so much without scoring, Kennedy’s substitutions were a joke, and the timing of them worse.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2021 10:55:17
Simply quoting “27 shots” doesn’t really say anything. I remember a lot of speculative rubbishs that hit the closest defender because the player had no other ideas, or Christie shooting from 700 yards and clearing the stand.
I think we did create a few clear cut chances that we didn’t take, but it’s a poor Utd side, and we were very poor.
The intensity was higher than under Lennon for about 15 minutes, but they seemed to lose confidence very quickly and revert to type when they didn’t get an early break through.
Other than more urgency, I didn’t see much difference.
