Excellent result away in very tough heat. There were a handful of nervy-ish moments but overall the team looked very comfortable. That should be the tie beyond all doubt after tonight.

Defo - nice and comfortable

Our set pieces haven’t improved much though, hope that’s something we can fix as we always seem to have many opportunities and don’t consolidate on them.

With Southampton signing Angus Gunn from Man City for £13 Million, would anyone take Fraser Forster back?

Still only 30 so years left in him, and I was a big fan of his time at Celtic.

Obviously made a few mistakes at Southampton (which keeper doesn't make mistakes, just look at ours) which led to him losing his place and his place in the England squad.

Good keepers are hard to find, id take him back for up to £5 million IF we could get him.

Ideally we sign somebody younger. If it was a choice between FF and CG I would say FF though. He's looked shot of confidence, ultimately affecting his decision making and focus but that can be repaired if his body is fit. On the subject of Gunn, he would have been on my shortlist. But that price, and indeed that of Edouard, show what it costs us now even to get youngsters in.

Soz guys/ ed but this might be a long one cos I am raging and can't believe its not been brought up yet.
WE and many other teams have a very important game tonight indeed arguably our most important of the season simply cos if u don't go through there aren't any more important ones (CL) .

Why am I raging u ask. well there is a wee tournament going on as well u might have noticed called the World cup so how in hell can there be CL qualifiers whilst this goes on?

We lose Lustig, Boyata etc and im sure there are many other teams losing players due to this.

It used to be you lost a player or 2 due to giving them some rest etc but now both tournaments are running at the same time wtf.

When is it going to stop it simply cannot be right, let me ask u this if Real, Bayern, Barcelona etc were losing players in the CL due to the World cup there would be hell to pay they wouldn't stand for it.

Ive stated before I am a big fan of Lawwell but he needs to stand up to UEFA and tell them its totally unacceptable.

Mibi join up with other teams and fight it, take it to court whatever needs to be done cos its just not right.

If I had said 10 years ago we would be playing a CL qualifier during a world cup u would think I was off my head lol.
Whats your thoughts guys?

I agree with you but Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern would NEVER find themselves in that situation as they are literally straight into the Champions League barring a minor miracle of them finishing lower than 4th in their respective leagues. As this will never happen to the Big Boys then UEFA won’t give a stuff.

Don’t worry we are earning £6500 a day for Boyata being at the World Cup so the £300k we earn for him being away will cover the £30 million we could lose by him not being in our defence for the first few qualifiers. These qualifiers are too important for us to be missing 3 of our regular starters (Rogic, Lustig and Boyata) without suitable replacements.

As a club we are World renowned, but we are based in a footballing backwater where our domestic opponents 'fortnight breaks' in Europe each year make us a footballing joke and obliterate our coefficient.
Wherein we have no clout or influence and probably little support or sympathy due to the state of our national league thanks to many years of corruption, lack of integrity and incompetence.
Obviously the whole situation stinks to high heaven, where repeat champions with sole European pedigree have to play 4 qualifiers and I wonder if our Association would be so mute if it wasn't Celtic?

What team is he building?, can you honestly say you heard of any of these rangers players in a positive light before? . I look at our front line and midfield and see stars, defence sometimes quaky but still two up until recently in the WC. We are turning into them if we spend for the sake of it. I know it’s slow but surely it’s better Rodgers taking his time to make sure the players we bring in will improve us. Rather than a few years back where we would make numerous signings, leaving us with the likes of Ciftci for the next 4 years.

You can be complacent/ arrogant all you want. Watched to many leagues slip away due to under investment in squad.

To think the league is won before a ball is kicked is foolish IMO. We are favourites and rightly so but can't rest.

Rookie manager we won the league under Lennon who was just that.

We just spent £10m on Edouard. Looks like we’re going to spend another £2m-£3m on McGinn. There will likely be more signings. Even if we didn’t make another signing we’d have the strongest squad in the league by miles. No need to worry.

All about opinions can't really take you serious though when your saying we spent 10m on Eduardo. Could half that figure and it would be more accurate. Red tops are not a good source for information.

{Ed007's Note - So Celtic lied when they said Edouard's broke our transfer record? The paperwork lodged with UEFA gives the fee at around 10 million Euros (£9 million at the exchange rate) but that could be including add-ons.
Edouard definitely cost more than £5 million.}

The day we underestimate Rangers is the day we go backward and open the door to them. If anything we need to over estimate their challenge and be good enough to beat that easily.

Bitter experience over a lifetime has taught me never take your eye off them and never even consider it’s job done. We are at a crossroads, we qualify for the CL and get that cash and use it well, we leave them behind. But we still watch them.

{Ed007's Note - Why should we overestimate a team that has came 3rd the last 2 seasons? Why not concentrate on Celtic and what we're doing, that would make a nice change for some Celtic fans.
You've fell into the trap of comparing the current TRIFC incarnation of Rangers to the original club who were propped up by the bank and dodgy tax scams to help them cheat their way to success.
Celtic will once again prevail in the league next season and TRIFC will be left fighting it out with Hibs, Hearts and possibly Kilmarnock to catch Aberdeen.}

I hope they are again, or even better Hibs then the Dons.

The first game a Pittidrue will tell us how much Gerard has improved them. Aberdeen shat it from them last year up there with a team of duds up against them. Be interesting to see if they can handle them if they are better.

I will be surprised if he is there long after we beat them at Greyskull. Both King and Gerrard will be driven out this season.
