Well into Balde for scoring in tonight's friendly. Even bigger well in to the young team who done themselves proud. Still think we need a clinical finisher.

Would take Finnborgsan or Sharp any day. Hopefully both them.

Alongside Sammy, Stokes, Balde and Watt, I'd say our striker problem would be gone.

Then we come to the central midfielder and defender situation. Any news on signings yet, anyone? Or even just float your ideas opinions. Who do u think fits the bill?

Would Celtic pay £8.6m for Finnbogason? In my opinion, yes. It would simply mean Lennon would have very little left to strengthen and would possibly have to get some signings in on loan. However, I believe we can knock a few million off of that price and agree a deal with add-ons and a sell-on clause.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Luv it :D hoping the same here brother HH!

First time seeing Amido Baldé and thought there was a lot of positives without going over the top, It made me think of a statement Keevins made on SSB during the week about for every great signing there is a bad one, and his comparison was, for every Hooper there is a Amido Baldé,
cant believe this statement was made and I hope Amido goes on to make this nasally wee a$$hole puppet eat his words,

Don't dumb yourself down by listening to radio trash.
Just switch off and keep it off and it will fade away.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im no lover ok SSB or Keevins, but he did not say that. The actual quote was "for every hopper or Wanyama there is a Mo Bangura" whether we like it or not he is correct. Bangura was awful every game he played for us.

Balde look excellent last night, as did Watt and kayal. I feel better about our future after the game. Concentrate on us instead of worrying what Keevins says. We all know he talks sh**e!

Been watching sly sports news for 30 minutes and they've gone thru every epl team friendly results but no mention of Liverpool Celtic result.
Typical they obviously don't want to show up the epl as one of the big 6 teams being beaten by a Celtic reserve team

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think it's because it was shown by their new competitors BT Sport. Nothing more

Agree0 Disagree0

I might be wrong but I don't think ssn can show it today because BT Sport were broadcasting the game.

I subcribed to BT Sports yesterday. You can get All the games for £12 per month. £15 for HD. HD is cracking! Magic. Loved the game yesterday!

good game today and great result. lots of plus points - mouyokolo played well and showed some great positional sense and heading ability, balde did not too bad and took his goal well, we didn't panic on the ball and some of our passing looked quite sharp, all round, a pretty pleasing performance. a special mention must go to jackson irvine though, I thought he was immense today. talk of him going on loan, but I would certainly give him his chance this season. anytime i've seen him i've been very impressed and, watching him being interviewed on several occasions, he seems like a really decent young man too. rogic and irvine - australias future central midfield paring anyone? this squad is a lot stronger than most people think and with the young players coming through I would be happy with just a young centre half and a proven penalty box striker coming in this transfer window. i've still got a feeling that striker will be jordan rhodes.

@Souljack. Mouykolo I read was a good player but was recovering from a bad injury. I believe Lennon and Park have kept tabs on him for some time. If he keeps injury free him and Van Dijk could be our regular pairing. Timalloy

Agree0 Disagree0

Some fantastic showings there today. Immense. I remembered Lenny put the second stream out against our nearest rivals Inverness at Inverness last season and destroyed them to the pain of the msm.
These lads pushing for first team slots and the two Dutch lads when fit gives Lenny many strings to his bow.
Liverpool feared Watt and fouled him too much. They showed a great respect for Celtic's ability and always got back in strength when we were on the ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep. A definite future Socceroo. If he stays at the club and gets some starts this year there is no reason why he can't be picked for Rio. The boy was ignored here in Oz and worked hard to get where he is, so I hope he can prove the Aussie 'scouts' wrong.

He wasn't ignored he chose to pick Australia I might be wrong but he might have played for a Scotland youth level

Our young ones showed great ability tonight I'd like 3 signings I'd love like a finbogasson a good cb and promising lb and actually use our youth this season! Irvine played really well but off he ain't going to play then let's see him in the spl! I'd like to see atajic on loan in spl as well and maybe a few others let us see what our bhoys can do and let them shine week in week out

@op I don't get your post. What chance will the young ones get if we keep signing players? Your contradicting yourself!

Excellent and well deserved result against a quality side a lot of positives to take blade was outstanding held the ball up well and brung everyone into play a good option to have in your squad as the kind of target man also thought Jackson Irvine was amense in the middle of the park reminded me a lot like ledley tidy footballer and distributed the ball very well it's really good to see all these young lads chapping at the door to try and break into the first team finally starting to see the benefits of Lennox town there's no hidding from the fact that we still need to add at least two quality players a quality cf that's a natural goal scorer is a must was also impressed with the cb we have signed nothing special but looks like he could do a job for us

Kieran

Believable0 Unbelievable0

For me Jackson Irvine was man of the match. Outstanding performance.

Passed the ball well, hardly wasting a pass. He was comfortable and calm in possession and sparked most of our attacks after winning the ball in our own half. I have only ever seen him playing in defence and thought he showed up well there if maybe lacking physical presence for a centre half but in midfield he was very impressive and that looks like where he is best suited. Great to see.

McGeouch, Fisher, Watt and Finley when he come on all showed up well also.

Cannot believe the fuss being made by everyone, including press and even Lennon about our trip to Kazakstan.
Yes it is miles away, yes it is awkward to get there. But it cuts both ways, the Shakthar team have presumably had to endure 2 other long trips to reach this stage, and will have to travel to Glasgow for the second leg.
I am certain Celtic will charter a private aircraft, and fly direct there, I even heard game is now being played in their capital city, where the airport is, so a little less travelling there.
I read that the Shakthar team are using scheduled airlines via London adding about 2 hours on to their 8 hour flight.
So to Lennon and others I say, think positive and go and win this qualifier and get us back into the group stages. hail hail Timalloy

So be beat liverpool with basically our second squad, good game balde and moko (can't spell his name) were the stand outs. And some may disagree with me. I think Forster should be dropped for zaluska, he's been pretty bad lately, and never gets competition. Give zaluska a run in the team he deserves it after his performance the day. Well done to the young bhoys today.
Plenty of plus points.
Balde scored and was a general nuisance to the liverpool defence.
Mouyokolo looked a decent CH.
Izzy had his best game in about 2 years.
Lustig usual mister dependable
Irvine looked like he's ready to step up.
And the young 12 year old guy Findlay done great.

Hi bhoys what you think of trying to get chris smalling off Man Utd on loan for a season? Well down the pecking order with 4 maybe 5 centre halfs ( if benfica lad bought). Euro experience and title winning mentality already instilled in the boy plus pace to burn ( which will be really missed big kelvs gone back home)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Quite frankly i'd be fuming if we brought anyone in on loan at this transitional stage, we should be laying down a marker by buying what we need instead of helping out over spending english teams by giving their players champions league exp.

Hi Ed, when is the deadline for signing/registering new players for next CL games? A top class striker/poacher and centre half are a must. Have a horrible feeling Lawwell will take a gamble and only bring a defender or cheap striker Doyle or Sharp until CL football is guaranteed, that is a massive risk.Thanks P.S. keep up the good work {Ed007's Note - The deadline for the Play-Off round is 23.00 on 12th August (Monday) and one can be registered by 23.00 on the day before the first leg is played.}

anton ferdinand has left qpr by mutual consent, think he would be a great signing however his wages may be too high hh ryanlarsson

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree would like to see him replace Wilson but wages are probably too high, he might end up at likes of Cardiff or Norwich, smaller clubs but seem to be able to spend more {Ed007's Note - He spent the second part of last season on loan in Turkey with Bursaspor, they want him to sign full time with him and he is keen on the move.}

Take it the new interpretation of the off-side rule has not filtered through to the third tier of Scottish football.

Imagine celebrating as if you have scored in the champions league final, after scoring against a bunch of part-timers; oh well they might be part-timers soon as well.

Surely Celtic will not shoot themselves in the foot during this window? A couple of weeks ago I put a post in about giving PL the benefit of the doubt but now I'm not so sure. Realise that we have the wage structure and all that but surely we can accomodate Finnbogason within that? Board can't be blamed about Wilson going but its not a situation that has come out of the blue so they should really have options lined up. Van Dijk was brought in to strengthen our defence surely, rather than as a replacement for Wilson? With Wanyama gone from midfield, central defence is now an equal if not greater need than a goal scorer. Worrying times now but hopefully, I'll be proven wrong before the end of the day. Daviebhoy77

Hi

Just a thought, were a bit bare on numbers in a lot of areas but what about Mark Wilson coming back on a 1-2 season deal, always thought he did well defensively, yes he's best suited to a full back role but he always put a shift in no matter what position he played, he knows the club and most of the set up so settling in time wouldn't be a problem, the trouble we face as a club is teams know we have money to spend and with that knowledge players premiums increase. I suspect that is why Liverpool are refusing to sell Suarez. Look what happened when Torres went, they got mugged of by Newcastle with Andy Carroll. Just a thought, opinions?

WOW! A Scottish journalist in tells it like it is shock. Glen Gibbons has slaughtered the cardigan in the Scotsman. This is possibly the first time I have seen smith exposed so truthfully.Yes he has received mild criticism before, usually after another European fiasco, but nothing that even resembles today's attack.

This has to raise the question of why? Gibbons has been around for a while but has never raised his head above the parapet, to my knowledge, regarding smith. Is it a clue to the outcome of the planned board meeting to 'review'Greens position? Surely by penning this piece Gibbons, if Green is ousted by the smith/sneaky faction, would marginalised by sevco? Or have media house infiltrated the broadsheets as well?

It may be quite a week in sevconia.green jhedi

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just read it. It's certainly an honest account of him. I'm sure he phoned the Scotsman to complain. How dare someone sully the good name of the whispering weasel. The great man who has knives in his back left side right side and front protecting anyone who will give him a pay cheque.

Can someone tell me a team that aren't a selling club. Don't know what everyone is making a big deal about us selling players just look at the money we have generated think some fans are used to our bigger and better players leaving for free or peanuts I think pl has done some fantastic buisness we have spent roughly 8 million and Brought in 4 new players of good standard and hopefully 2 or 3 new signings

Its not the fact of selling these guys we all knew it was going to happen its the timing of it and the fact that we don't have the ready made replacements especially a lethal goalscorer

Agree0 Disagree0

We have the bare bones of a team. Action on the buying front is essential to continue our European run. JK

Agree0 Disagree0

Manchester United's best player was ronaldo. They sold him. Their best player now is Rooney. He too will be sold. So they are a 'selling club'. I can only think of one club which has never sold a player, I think, The Rangers, they pay the players to leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2013 12:24:07
No shame in being a well respected selling club. Wanyama's transfer has stepped us up a notch, I feel, and if Hooper and Wanyama can shine, we are already on our way to securing a reputation as a respected 'footballing academy'/selling club, that might be the best we can achieve, lest whoever controls football decides it's our turn to win/make people money. pea

Agree0 Disagree0

Op, I agree mate. This is just the way it is at the 'moment'. 4-5 year run in the champions league and our wage cap will rise to 30-40k rather than 15-25k it is now, therefor we will be able to keep hold of wanyamas and hoopers. Hopefully.
