Aston Villa a few seasons ago if you were to mention them in the same topic as relegation, majority of people would laugh it off as a silly comment. I personally am totally shocked at their demise and feel sorry for their supporters.

They have produced and also signed some class players over the years. Makes you wonder what is going on at villa.

I think you need to go back a lot further than a few seasons for that to have seemed such a long shot/ silly comment.

Totally agree - they're one of the old school great clubs. It just shows that history only means so much, and it's all about tomorrow. I also felt sorry for Remi Garde, the team is full of imposters and guys like Richards and Lescott chucked it months ago. Hutton is another that you would trust as far as you could throw him.

I know what you mean Poet, they have been underperforming for a while, I think he meant in general that it's a club that should really be aiming for Europe. When I was growing up they were one of the great clubs in England. I remember them winning the European Cup when I was a kid. It's like Celtic though, we have a great history but I want us to make more. You should never stop dreaming, everything's possible, well as long as you have the right people. That's why I'll never accept us losing to Scandinavian teams, and teams from Poland and Slovenia - and I mean that with respect, in a respectful way! 😜.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I remember Billy McNeill getting Villa relegated. The only manager to have managed two different teams in the one season and both teams were relegated.}

After reading this thread do any off you guys think like me, that football not only in scotland but on a global sacale has deteriorated in the past 5 years or so? Would leicester spurs be where they are if manchester teams liverpool chelsea etc had kept progressing? Same in spain germany holland?

I've been saying the exact same Falkirkbhoy it's just we are very over critical up here where as the English talk there game up basically because the wages and transfers they can afford. if they did this super league you would never have had spurs or lecister winning it because it's only the supposed big teams that are allowed in which goes to show it would actually get boring fast look at the Italian league the Milan teams are no longer a force the Dutch league is about the same standard as ours.

I think that the game over the last few years has become more about stopping the opposition, rather than trying to score goals.
After yesterdays game with Leicester, Sam Allardyce was moaning about the defending for Leicester's first goal, he was going into great detail about what the goalkeeper did wrong and how the centre half should have done better, there wasn't a word about how they never looked like scoring.
A lot of coaches seem to think the same way, so often you end up with games where players have little or no space and the ball is given away between the teams.
Managers and coaches probably think that this is great, but for spectators it can make for very dull games to watch.

I agree FalkirkBhoy - I think it goes back further though. At one point Serie A was by far the best league, with the best players, - the Milan team under Sacchi was the greatest club side of all time in my opinion. Baresi, Gullit, Maldini, Van Basten, Rijkaard etc. I think English football has had some great teams, Liverpool under Paisley, some of the Utd teams, Forest under Clough to name a few, in general though it's overrated, and average technically and tactically. Over the last 10 years the only league that's kept improving in every sense is the Bundesliga. Further afield the American League is growing, Australia, and the Brazilian league has a lot more money again. For me the biggest laugh is the price of players, especially in England. You could pick an 11 from the Championship down there that they would value at more than £100 million. Leicester have been brilliant, and It would be incredible if they done it, but you even have Mahrez and Vardy valued at between £30-£50 million each now after a couple of good seasons. Next year will be different, I think Guardiola and Conte will make a difference. I'd also prefer to see Utd go for Pochettino instead of that snake Mourinho.

Personally i think with almost every team now try to play the same type off sytems that the man utd chelsea madrid barca etc etc and for me when coaches try to implement this type off football its detrimental to players natural abilty and skills as they're not allowed to show them or enhance them by playing to a system that's why i personally love to see wee roberts get the ball and drive at players giving you that wee bit excitement and lift

I watched a wee bit of Leicester Villa match , I thought it was a bloody aweful match, but I don't that matter one iota to Leicester who are getting very close probably just two wins away . Did I see a Sunderland forward shoot and the ball hit his own hand . Then the miss towards the end . Things can be very bad in SPL but somehow the EPL seems to be getting poorer in playing standards the richer the players are becoming .

I thought it interesting that this weekend last season the bottom six . 3 were relegated, two are in relegation places this season and then we have Leicester City.

Has anyone heard McGees excuse for blanking Ronny? He said that he had gone to shake his hand before the game and got blanked (even tho Ronny didn't see him and he accepted that) so he did the same after the game and then said he holds his hands up he misread the situation but yet he shook JKs hand? I call BS, I think he got caught being a sore loser and now trying to make himself look better.

I see DD has been named in the Panama tax papers. £1.3billion estimated worth.

Would be hypocritical of me to criticise somebody for not declaring/ trying to keep a bit more. Why should I when the very people who govern the rules are at it! I'd rather have a bit more of what I've earned rather than say, I dunno, fund unjust and illegal wars?

{Ed007's Note - It's nothing to do with CFC, all CFC's finances are in order and all our taxes are up to date.}

10 Apr 2016 20:09:31
Well exactly ed. Our house and my own house is in order. That's all I care about. We'll not see any of the few bob he's saved pumped into the team anyway that's for sure. Can you really rob our government? Are you actually stealing if it's from a thief? Just let them all get on with it and look after numero uno.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - How can a guy that has never been a British or UK citizen and a registered resident of Barbados owe our government money when he doesn't even have to pay Irish tax on non-Irish sourced income? It's nothing at all do to with CFC.}

10 Apr 2016 20:26:26
Misjudged that totally. (Egg on face) .

Good point.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I wasn't having a pop at you lol It's not really news that DD has some questionable financial practises, what kind of guy with that money isn't?
The fact that there are politicians involved should be more worrying to us.}

10 Apr 2016 20:42:57
I know you weren't fella, i thought he had uk residence and with holdings in uk companies would be subject to yada yada aye it's definitely all over my head. Fell at the first hurdle really. Don't mind holding my hands up when i make a tit of myself.

Like the IFSC for example?

Well yeah the politician thing is a point I was trying to make though. We're supposed to be shocked that man has abused positions of 'power'?

Alright then smart arse what about Jackie Chan?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I can't stick him! He should be flung in the pokey for his films alone.}

10 Apr 2016 20:48:20
I thought it was interesting seeing that name there. Certainly not having a pop but I am surprised msm are not having one. (would be nice if he would make a wee donation to help strengthen us for next season)
I also do not see any problem with tax avoidance (not evasion) . The Govt even encourages the practice having introduced ISA's.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - FFS don't start about ISAs or we'll have Jamie getting all radgied on us.}

10 Apr 2016 20:56:22
Ha! She does wear a thong well though.

{Ed007's Note - I heard Jamie's starting wearing them too. (fubar)

10 Apr 2016 21:25:18
I think everyone accepts that the rich will do what they can to avoid tax. It's when politicians do it that it sticks in the throat, when these people cut services for the disabled and hit them with a bedroom tax, and thousands are having to use food banks because their benefits have been cut, the sight of these hypocrites hiding their money away while telling us we're all in this together is just sickening.

PMSFL Ed, I was going add a bit here before I even read the last bit am attached to A financial institution that "MANAGES" the REAL culprit who is now entering the fray today/ tonight "affairs"

Imagine being in charge of fiscal affairs never having worked for REAL a day in your life all because your family made wallpaper!

Ah well Ed least I was right about the G and SL one not managing to get the sevco "floated" on the index he was talking about! (Y)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I have got no idea who/what you mean lol.}

10 Apr 2016 21:51:21
ROFL There a difference between an ISA and My "Isa"

Am an expert on both lol

But Ed you promised me a signed " Isa thong " weeks ago and a right few witnessed that in live chat! I don't mind you hangin on to it a wee while longer mate but send it before the weeks oot (y)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I told the guy that collects the match-worn shirts but it's proving difficult.}

10 Apr 2016 22:07:44
Seriously Ed, You don't?

Surprised a man of your intellect does'nt no idea if this will get the old text deleted but am talking about the Chancellor!

He has a at least 6 MILLION POUND "hedgefund" attached to the fiscal institution St James's Place (not palace) that been in place for years mate

His family are famous historical wallpaper makers ( 2 GRAND! A ROLL! ) stuff

I never twigged you were talking about "Isa the thong" (y)

Even Osbourne's statement tonight was generic and guarded if they get round to ralking about hedgefunds he not be popular if he ever was lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Oh right. I knew that rat would be in it up to his neck. Thank (swear) he never met my Mrs with those prices for wallpaper.}

The like of D D should be praised for the employment he gives to accountants and solicitors who find ways and means of investing money. Obviously I imagine these accountants and solicitors pay taxes on the money earned . In an ideal world we should have some say on what taxes our taxes are used for or more important on what they are not used for .
If I had D D money, I would be physically sick if I thought my taxes were going to help set start- up firms who create arms which are sold to Isis and other killing groups .

It is estimated that tax avoidance/ evasion costs the treasury over 100 billion each year.

This figure is absolutely shocking and what makes it more shocking is that some senior civil servants and politicians facilitate this theft.

We currently have some of the main people at HMRC showing big business how to avoid paying tax and receiving a hefty consultancy fee for doing so.

In addition most of our politicians are failing us by not shutting down tax havens. As things stand over half of the world's trade passes through tax havens. At present, if you look at the UK and its foreign territories, we are the largest tax haven in the world, even ahead of Switzerland.

Just remember that the recent leak is just the tip of the iceberg and that company in Panama, will be just one of many who help the rich and powerful avoid paying tax.

11 Apr 2016 12:34:26
Apparently David Cameron is going to freeze the treasury and transfer the assests into a company called 'the Westminster' and everything will be ok.
The governments died.
Naw we urnae.

11 Apr 2016 22:04:26
This will all die down and will be forgotten about . I cannot understand this rush Dave and other politician have to show their taxes paid . Surely that is meaningless, I know I would be more interested in seeing the tax they didn't pay, bur there are no plans to show that .
These tax evasion tax avoidance are really massive but our Governments no matter so called labour or Tory concentrate on benefit fraud . Ordinary decedent people will inform on a single mother who is maybe getting £25/ £40 per week . These informers think they are good people and can actually sleep at night .
But the Right Hon . can runaway with £1m and more off shore banking and everyone keeps quiet.

Looking at betting on today's former pawnbroking cup and think the new club may have to go to extra time around 20/ 1 or penalties 25/ 1 result not as cut and dried as their fans think, oh and do not discount them getting a penalty at 5/ 2 (almost obligatory in all new club games)

Right again Tim about the penalty. The ref couldn't blow fast enough. So the tramps win the diddy cup. Should we be worried about next week? Lol. Not going with that performance. I know we are hitting a bad patch just now but if we can't beat that rubbish next week something seriously has to be done about the level of our football. I predict an easy stroll out for the Bhoys.

Agree1 Disagree1

10 Apr 2016 17:08:39
Hopefully got your money back there tim. I'm really surprised they offer such good odds for a Rangers pen to be honest.

Held back a bit from talking about the Rangers game as we've had more important things to talk about. I know it's a cliche but an early goal is really what we need. And thankfully we're partial to one.

Said a few weeks back that Broony needed to get the skinhead back, and he couldn't have timed it better. Him Johansen and Bitton should boss their midfield. I'd be happy enough with CKR, LG and PR in attack if we do opt for such a shape. However, Rogic must play to some degree.

It won't be as easy as the last time we met, but then again we barely got out of second gear that time, and didn't need to.

If the team can't raise their performance for Rangers at Hampden, then what can they raise themselves for?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Apr 2016 17:15:27
Rab hopefully Rogic back and if Griffiths and Roberts play to anything like they can we will run all over the top of them. My ex bear pals actually are looking forward to next week, they genuinely think they will beat us, poor deluded fools, all Celtic need to do is play our passing game at speed and they will wilt.
