Apparently Liverpool have agreed to sign VVD for £75m. If that's the case then we are due circa £9m PL will be creaming himself .

I think it does - after all the contract with Southampton which includes the payment details will be over when he signs for Liverpool - but I'll check with Ed002.}

Well that will pay a few bills Ed007. Nice little lift for the boys, knowing PL it will have been factored in to his financial forecast for the year. Once just once it would be good for the support to get a player that is the finished article. I’m away to keep on dreaming.

I always said he should stick to what he's good at and stop interfering in the football side, since he's done that I've really no complaints about him. With some people, not particularly you mate but fans who constantly snipe at him on forums and social media, they'll always find something to complain about.
Except for JP Taylor, Lawwell has the most thankless task at Celtic, but he is well paid for it and rightly so. Lawwell, not JP lol}

I am a supporter and the last thing I want is the finished article . I remember many finished article coming to Celtic and boy they were finished R Keane ( couldn't last 45 minutes without going to toilet ) . Gillespie and many more .
I hope Commper is the finished article, having developed his skill and ability fully& with another two or three years with the ability to demonstrate his finish article ability with us.
I think we should be all long past the time that we think we can afford to buy and pay the wages etc of a top class football who is just reaching or at his prime . That simply won't happen . May I suggest players who are really special will be under 22/ 23 when we buy them or over 30, or maybe we can take a gamble with an injury prone player.

Was speaking to a mate and was told that the new contract offer to Stuart Armstrong is £15k per week. Now I know that's a lot of money to the working person but in terms of players wages I think that's a low offer . We all know he will get nearly £50k per week in England, but I think he's is worth keeping.

If the club are serious about their ambitions of being a team for CL last 16 and onwards then they need to start acting like it. If what you've heard is true then no wonder he's looking at his options. We can't realistically offer him what EPL clubs will but a technically excellent, intelligent 20 goal-a-season CM should be expecting much more than that. Like I said, that's IF your info is correct.

problem is lawwell and br probably recon they CAN get a young technically excellent, intelligent 20 goal-a-season CM for £15k pw, in fact we probably have a few in the youth set up on far less than that and also recent signing look good,
not saying I want him to go but just imagining what's going on in lawwells head.

20 players moved out with upwards of 60 grand a week removed from the wage bill, I would be seriously annoyed if we lost him for the sake of an extra 5 grand a week.

At any club, one of the top performers deserves to be one of the highest paid. It's as simple as that really. If there was somebody at work doing less than me, but coming out with more, I'd be pretty miffed and would probably look elsewhere. Ed007 said that he only wanted a two year deal, if that's the case just give him a two year deal and sell him next summer, should he wish to leave/ and extension can't be agreed.

If Armstrong went to Southampton and they paid £8mill for him he could expect £35k-£40k. Don't assume everyone is on £70k a week. Harry Kane at Spurs is on £80k, fact. He is one of Europe top strikers but Spurs don't pay big big wages. At Southampton, Bournemouth type club he won't get any more than £45k tops. If he goes as a free next season he will get more as no transfer fee. Best we will get would be £8mill. If he does not sign in next 2 weeks he has to go but not sure what interest there really is for him?

Correct Johnnymac. Yes there are some players in the EPL on huge amounts, but the avaerage salary is not as high as a lot of people think i reckon (ie paddy roberts supposedly on 70k a week! Lol) . The average is actually around 45k a week i believe. Higher than our average, but not astranomical.

I think that maybe BR had decided to let SA go last season in his mind and has recruited accordingly. The bonus of SA having a fantastic season has only increased his sell on value. If you really want a player you make sure you keep them and don't let things drag on. SA stated he wanted to stay and BR stated he wants to keep him. If this was the case deal would have been done by now imo. Maybe SA feels that he might not start as much this season down to new recruits as our midfield is our strongest area? I would like SA to stay as he is a terrific footballer and will only get better, if he goes I wish him well.

Well that's a list longer than the one with the players we are meant to be signing.
Is there something that BR and his team have changed in training?
Every player is meant to be getting fitter, however our Sickbay is getting busier than the Western Infirmary.

{Ed007's Note - LG, Hayes and Roberts were all injured during games so that's nothing to do with the training. Rogic's spent more time injured than fit - that's FIVE years this month since he joined Celtic - and a hernia (Armstrong) can happen any time.
Compper's hardly played a game this season and at his age the intense training might be a shock to his system ;)
