Been a while since I posted.
I see a player in young Hendry
He reminds me of John Stones when he first broke through at Everton. same mistakes
Look at him now, World Cup was excellent and last game with City, world class.
Hendry has talent and needs supporting
Obviously the manager' who has delivered two trebles in a row, rated him enough to buy and continues to start him.
Start cheering for the kid!

John stones world class? 😂😂.

2.) 21 Aug 2018 16:38:31
He also bought GoCompare. His record at Liverpool defensively was utterly dire. Hendry is 24, he just isn’t good enough. BRENDAN needs to up his game and go for proven ability rather than risking 8iar.

3.) 21 Aug 2018 16:53:43
It’s bad enough you said John Stones is world class but you see a player in Hendry is laughable

No harm to the boy he tried and has failed to step up

Hopefully these McKenna rumours ain’t true cause he’s just at the same level as Hendry imo.

4.) 21 Aug 2018 17:46:14
Surely it can't be, but reading how some people go out of their way to ridicule some of our players who for whatever reason are struggling in the team, and thus destroy their confidence, but it often appears to me that instead of being Celtic supporters who would encourage the team, all players, they are Celtic haters.
Now I don't think they know how much they are sabotaging the team and so they are just ignorant and don't understand what supporting a team involves.

5.) 21 Aug 2018 17:59:05
OMC sure you will be supporting Boyata’s return then

Like everyone I can support and slag who I want and if your not happy then tough 💩.

6.) 21 Aug 2018 22:12:19
Boyata is done, it’s as simple as that! I will not support this rat! Really don’t know what Brendan’s thinking about by the way! I pray to god the interest from abroad is real and we get shot of this clown asap!

Well that was a tough night.
They are the best club side in the world BUT to ship seven goals is just not acceptable.
Keeper has displaced Gordon the last three games. He brings us nothing. bring back Gordon.
Too much giving the ball away cheaply in midfield. Brown and Biton in particular.
Putting the new guy at right back in tonight was a big mistake. he has not played in months.
Back 5 meant we never got the ball in possession for long enough to relieve the constant attacks.
Not sure what converting the penalty would have done but it could have given us some much needed confidence early in the game.
Only bright spots were Dembele despite the penalty miss and Sinclair.
Others on here slating Tierney. not fair. at least he turned up for the 90 minutes
Anyway. never expected to get anything out if this game. let's hope we learn from it.

paulbhoy

1.) 13 Sep 2016 23:06:25
Bring back Gordon? CG would have cost us 2-3 goals more, des made some big saves and at least had a hand on the ball, plus the d and more just stopped trying, so keeper was left out to hang.

They got the Barcelona treatment in that you can't touch Messi, the free kick by neymare should never been given and looked like 1 other goal was offside but it never showed a review of the line.

Still think we can take points off the other teams and think could get 3rd and still think a chance at 2nd (longshot) .

I just don't get how the players don't look for the cut back cause that's all Barcelona does to the traling/ late man in box, a lot of ball watching when they should focus on the players, when we were calm and composed (the dew times) we were able to break through but too much nervousness when Barcelona pressed.

Have not posted in a good while.
I have been very encouraged with BR coming in and the signings so far. Also very encouraged with the style of football we have started to play and results so far. Last week was the atmosphere of old at CP and a great result.
So question. what happened to that team that was full of confidence and attacking bravado?
Am I the only one questioning our set up and tactics last night?
We looked negative and scared from the off and we played like that until well into the second half. Easy to slay Janko but what cover and protection did he get from Forrest who basically did not turn up?
Where is the goalkeeper in dominating his 6 yard box?
I look at every player on the other side and saw more energy, determination and passion than anyone on our side.
Yes we prevailed. just. but that was as bad as anything in the last two years under RD.
Only saving grace was yanking people out and putting others on the park that solidified an entirely defensive set up.

paulbhoy

1.) 24 Aug 2016 18:34:47
I agree we seamed to set up the stall just to defend and we are lucky to have survived it looked like RD was in the dug out last night But I am sure BR would have taken a lot from that game and a lot about the players we have to I don't think he will try that system again in a hurry.

2.) 24 Aug 2016 18:32:05
I'm in (near) total agreement Paul. Big fan of BR decisions to date but thought he got it very wrong last night. Expected him to go for it as they had to come out-were shown to be weak at the back last week-and more comfortable going forward. Plus defense is hardly our forte. Goal keeper doesn't seem to know that everything in the 6 yard box is his. Only disagreement is that I've seen enough of Janko to have formed an opinion (that's just mine) he can't cut it.

3.) 24 Aug 2016 19:24:46
Rd never lost a 3 goal lead like that nor did he get beat off amateurs from Gibraltar either. That was a really poor side n we conceded 4 very bad goals, if it was Rd people would b up in arms but it seems br walks on water in some people's eyes.
Don't get me wrong he has done well since coming in but last night 5 2 up we should have went over there n tried 4 an early goal, instead we were way too deep most of the game n too many players didn't perform, the subs and starting lineup were all wrong rogic Roberts n schviatchenko all should have started in my opinion, I thought it was only Rd that happened 2.
Glad we made it through and hope to see a couple more signings, including a permanent move 4 Roberts, as we need more quality in the team and another striker as again, despite all his goals Griff was posted missing although I'm sure he knows he needs 2 up his game at this level. Dembele very unlucky with a wicked attempt but a bad European performance despite qualifying, we need to keep the ball much better away from home.
Onwards and upwards hail hail.

4.) 24 Aug 2016 20:24:12
There was a lot more riding on last nights game lads. My thinking is in the group stage we have 6 matches. I'm sure that we will put on a few good away performances, playing with nothing to lose. Can't wait for the draw. Give us Real Madrid and Dortmund.

Just watched the Brighton vs Sheffield Wed playoff game. mainly because 4 ex Celts involved.
Great tense game. with 200M pounds on the line for promotion, tense it would be!
Thought all the ex bhoys did well.
Kayal best player on the park. seems to have got over that crippling tackle from McCullough
Loovens steady as a rock in defense. why was he punted?
Wallace two goals over the two games. one a lucky cross helped by a Hooper push to sail in And last Hooper who looked fit and sharp and was kept off the score sheet by a great save by BHA keeper.
Makes you think if we had the opportunity to compete in that league with the money that it drags in.

paulbhoy

1.) 16 May 2016 23:11:24
Aye Loovens was great for us nb mate you for real he's a bad as efe was for us.

2.) 17 May 2016 01:22:14
I watched the game aswell, great match and kayal was superb loads of energy, good in possession. Good to see him fit n playing regularly.

3.) 17 May 2016 09:57:00
Can't believe Kayal was ever sold.

4.) 17 May 2016 11:08:35
TTTS he hadn't payed well for quite a while when we sold him. It's probably the change of scenery that's helped to bring out his great form again.

Thank you Hearts!
5 points clear with a game in hand with Motherwell away tomorrow.
If we win that and its a BIG if, we are 8 points clear going into the split effectively 9 points given our goal difference.
An emphatic win tomorrow is required.

paulbhoy

1.) 08 Apr 2016 22:20:35
League is over, all but the shouting . It's nice to have it totally in our own hands by the split . If we win tomorrow the league will be as good as over . If we don't win tomorrow the league will nearly be over . Fair play to the "useless" R D and the team of rubbish players, despite such an aweful combination we have 5 in a row.

2.) 08 Apr 2016 23:13:38
Paulbhoy, why all the negativity we have only lost 3 games all season yes we have drew 7 but it's hardly a disaster is it? I know the football has been poor most of the time but is it not results and trophies that matter most? .

3.) 09 Apr 2016 02:06:21
Celtic76
I agree its results and trophies that matter
BUT I also agree the football IS poor. Our standards should be play great entertaining football, win the league and at least one cup and get beyond Christmas in Europe. Especially without Rangers around!
Look at the crowds at CP. Look at the crowds at the away games!
Its one dimensional football and very predictable with the odd exceptional game. We finished last in our european group.
My first Celtic game was as a kid when my Dad took me to the Dunfermline Scottish Cup Final in 1965.
I lived through the glory years and the famine.
I don't think we are in a good place and its not good to watch.

4.) 09 Apr 2016 07:55:59
Great post Paul

Balanced and valid. The annoying thing is the standards. The lack of tangible progress as a team. Bright spots excluded such as LG and KT. Ed is also convincing however. Are our expectations still too great when you consider the financial reality? Domestic success yes. Ideally with a bit of flair and a bit to spare. Hope and expectation fills Celtic park. We had big crowds under TB. Crowds are low because many many many fans see the Celtic operation as a one way ticket to nothingness IE poor predictable one paced and low standards ( and yes we may come out victorious ) but it's a recipe for every decreasing crowds

I can just about guarantee that RD leave success and cup will have little impact ( if any ) on season book sales. The CFC recipe at the moment from top to bottom doesn't taste right and that's why ( en mass ) Celtic fans aren't consuming

I have concluded that there is no corners to turn. Our displays are not form related. We are simply a poor team ( best in the league over a marathon season ) with a poor management team and a self limiting remote executive board

Celtic do have domestic talent in abundance ( more potential than talent ) and so there's a little hope but ibrox will be bouncing next season. Hate them or loathe them, they have a feel good factor. Rate them or mock them, they are consuming the product. CFC are sleepwalking in to ever lower standards and the " investment " required by others to compete is no longer a necessary precursor to valid competition. We are inviting them towards us and not staying ahead or moving away from them and that's a worry.

5.) 09 Apr 2016 09:23:03
100% agree paradisewon.

6.) 09 Apr 2016 10:00:39
The problem is that our board are downsizing the quality in the Celtic first team squad, cashing in on any playing asset and replacing them with poorer, cheaper players and they took the cheap option with a manager and proclaimed him as an innovative team builder which he clearly is not, the crowds are down because the standards and quality have dropped and it is no longer like watching Celtic more often than not, if RD is still in charge and the board continue asset stripping the team crowds will not recover even with Newco in the league, it is hard to watch .

7.) 09 Apr 2016 10:25:00
That's the issue. I think the board are holding out for a response in crowd appetite with rangers back up. There will be added intensity to the immaterial matches but season book sales will founder if the status quo endures I'm sure of it. The issue with RD isn't about like or dislike it's about our en mass attitude to him wth regard to competency and his ability to motivate and inspire players so that ( despite poor standards ) they literally run through brick walls for him. I'm not so sure (a) because many players are in a deep embedded comfort zone and (b) because he doesn't even demand high standards because he wouldn't know what they look like owing to his own lack of experience and ( c ) there are no apparent disincentives for players even when they've been rank rotten for weeks IE they still get picked

I would love to see a hint of progress ( not relative to the ECL days ) but simply relative to last year but when you observe Ciftci Cole and CKR someone sonewhere thinks that these types are a good idea. Hmmmmmmm.

I for one think we need to build a team around this guy and NOT go for short term profit.
He is cultured, comfortable on the ball, plays at his own pace and has a surprising burst of speed.
Good shot, good header of the ball in the box both offense and defense.
Potential next captain in my view.
I believe him to be the best footballer in our squad right now

I must admit I would rather Izzy played versus Mulgrew.
Izzy had a good game last week against Malmo. mulgrew was c**p at the weekend defensively.
Anyway, keep it tight at the back boys and use our speedsters ( Forrest, Johanson, Armstrong and Griffiths ) to counter
I think 2-1 Celtic on the night with us scoring first.

I for one think Gordon is better than Forster.
He commands his area far better than Forster.
He is way better at catching high balls versus trying to parry or punch.
I admit big Fraser was probably a better reaction saver and close range shot stopper but Craig is not far behind and on balance a better more reliable keeper.
Everyone makes mistakes.EVERYONE
My worry on Gordon was coming back from severe injury and being available. he proved he is fit and back to his best. look at his consistency last season!
Was never a fan of Zaluska. New guy will push Gordon and be available to sub when needed. at least on paper.

Not sure I agree with much that has been said above.
Drawing away in Europe against a German top 4 team is punching above our weight. The fold at Celtic park was the problem.
We should and could have won the game.
Who turned up?
Gordon had a good game but still needs work on his distribution.
Lustig was mostly solid
Eric had a very good game. he is not tall but he plays smart and is a footballer positioning wise and moving out
Gamboun. best game yet in a Celtic shirt
Izzy. bit hit and miss. certainly put the effort in and was good for the most part moving forward but as ever, a little suspect defensively
Brown. not the dominance we have seen in other games this season. lacked pace and the normal guile.
Rogic. well this is where I disagree with most above. first half was great. fantastic first touch many times and picked out his passes well and pressed. second half, faded as usual
Forest. did nothing
Armstrong. better than Forrest but not by much. his chase back after losing possession was great but passing not generally too square and 50/ 50 as to accuracy
Sinclair. he troubled them but did not see enough of the ball. his effort against the post was 2 unshed away from glory!
Dembele. held the ball up well, took his only chance. he is getting stronger
Roberts should have started vs Forest and should have come on sooner.
Mc Gregor. look left and pass and we win!
missed a couple I think but I was please with effort, system and sub timing with the exception Roberts. Brendan waited too long
I fancy a win against Barcelona at home.

I thought Gordon played well
He is a far better shot stopper than the other guy
My only problem is he does not open his mouth
Several times tonight he just needed to call Lustig, Eric or Toure " leave it " and it would have been his ball and panic over.
Now they good stuff
well organized. lustig, Toure, Eric and tierney ALL immense
Rogic1st halt, Bitton what a shift. captains performance from SB
Dembele. keeps getting in position and putting it away
James Forest. revelation. works hard in defense and his final ball getting better
Sinclair great in first half
I would have take a draw before this game with an expectation that we will beat BM at home and get a result away
Europa League after Xmas with a chance to get out of the group stages is a good performance if we can hold it together.

I misread the table as Aberdeen starting their post split fixtures last night versus playing their catch up game
Anyway, still a good result for us going into tomorrow and just postpones the inevitable

That means we can win the league on Sunday against Ross
11 points clear with massive goal difference effectively equates to 12 point gap.
Hail Hail.
