From where?

2.) 14 Jan 2019 23:15:41
He's at Spurs.

3.) 14 Jan 2019 23:21:38
I didn't mean where he plays sorry. I meant where is the rumours from.

4.) 14 Jan 2019 23:22:39
Sounds like Single Fish to me. 4 strikers (Odsonne, Weah, Griff and Bayo) plus Janssen?

Can't see that as a credible rumour. I'll file that one next to Yaya.

Noticed a few queries around why the drop in attendance for the EL. From my perspective, I’m not prepared to stretch myself on top of season ticket and merchandising after the disappointing window.

Difficult to point the finger after 2 trebles, however we now have Europa after the club failed to land targets. It’s clear the manager had a recruitment plan and the board failed to deliver. Bit of a shame, however we do have a huge squad and it was my understanding that Brendan was to trim it and add fewer players with more quality.

There will be players that are surplus unable to get similar contracts elsewhere, so are happy to sit tight and £6m doesn’t get you a Sutton or Hartson, so I understand the parameters. It’s difficult, however we should’ve beaten AEK. A bit scunnered, really!

Who is to blame if we have a lack of quality in over the last 2 Windows?
Is it D D or is it P L or is it B R . everyone will have their own opinion and it's certainly clear that the fans and people within club will have different views .
Those who thing B R has been badly treated may need to look at the very many players we bought in and who we have got rid of at a loss or cannot shift . The most important thing for the future is that Brendan, Peter and Dermot work together for the best for club and not as individuals.

{Ed007's Note - I think Lawwell and Rodgers (and probably Congerton) should share the blame, Lawwell for his penny pinching in certain deals, Rodgers for prioritising unrealistic targets and I guess Congerton for a lack of quality options. I don't see anything Dermot Desmond can take any blame for - we broke our transfer record for Le tourbillon français, sanctioned new improved deals to guys like Rogic, LG etc etc
Rodgers, Lawwell and Dermot Desmond all have the best interests of the Club at heart even when we don't agree with their choices, maybe once Bret Desmond takes over we will see some serious money spent.......

2.) 25 Sep 2018 22:06:18
That makes a lot of sense Ed 007 .
I cannot understand Rodgers having a problem with Lawwell,
Lawwell is Lawwell and he should have known what he was like as BR has a life long love of Celtic ( so he keeps telling us )

For those that want quality and want the club to spend frivolously, we are not a club that can spend the millions required for the players you desire. I've read the comments stating this players scrap, that player's past it.

The players have worked hard this year, invincible up until recently, the treble is still on and there's folk on here giving the management and players grief? I'm sure the manager knows exactly what we need to improve, however it's difficult with the financial restraints.

Celtic yielded a pre-tax profit of just under £7m at the end of the last financial year. That profit wouldn't get you a mediocre EPL player! There will be a revolving door in January and the squad will be refreshed. Compper will add quality and organisation in the back line, Lusting will remain and Ajer may be a viable option as the CB pairing. We'll see how the second half of the season pans out! Best wishes for 2018 to all!

Miko Happy New Year.

2.) 01 Jan 2018 11:54:29
Happy New Year Tim, long time no speak! Hope you had a nice Christmas and best wishes for 2018! Not often I post on here nowadays, must remedy this! 🤣🤣🤣.

3.) 01 Jan 2018 12:11:06
Just keep off the Sevco pages, do not want you banned again lol.

4.) 01 Jan 2018 13:29:44
Who wants us to spend frivolously? I wish people would stop using that kind of description when fans want us to make the team better.

If we only made £7m profit, then that means if we miss the CL we are circa £30m in the red? I don't buy that.

5.) 01 Jan 2018 13:40:42
Agreed, if we bring in 20 million for Dembele I expect us to spend 15 of this in 3 players to improve the squad.

6.) 01 Jan 2018 13:45:01
Magicpole if we missed out on CL they would have cut costs make sure we were around break even. The 7 million was in the official accounts how can't you not believe that. Are you saying the accounts are false and the club is be breaking the law and lying to share holders?

7.) 01 Jan 2018 18:23:27
Cheers Kev! 👍. I hope we spend £15m, I very much doubt it though. How do Celtic spend £15m, that’s the big question? Difficult, i’d say!

If Caulker is available and he is winning his battles, i’d take him in a heartbeat. A strong no-nonsense CH that can pass on a free, great business. How much would it take to land him?

PS; I’ll leave the Sevco mon to you, Tim! I see you’re doing just nicely over on the dark side!

All the best in 2018, you all! HH.

Too many accountants and Financial Directors making their feelings know on here .
The real problem is despite their definite comments on here, I think most would be like myself and couldn't manage a pub domino team .
We are brilliant discussing how others should do their job, happy in the knowledge we will never have to do their job and so we won't be found out.

Evening troops. Noticed Mourinho being mentioned on a couple of occasions, which I find ludicrous. He’s a dinosaur, I’d rather we we went for Xavi if Celtic would even consider spending so frivolously.

We need a coach with new ideas, new training methods that will get these players fitter, more confident and HUNGRY. I’ve seen players play badly this season, French Eddie’s looked amateur for instance - that’s all to do with poor training methods, poor coaching, lack of fitness. and a stinking bad attitude anaw!

Favre’s looking for £75k a week - he’s onto plums.

Keane - not a good idea, although he has the right stature in principle.

Maresca - with Harkin, it could work but it’s a big gamble.

Howe - I reckon he’s got the gig already, why go to Palace or Newcastle and I reckon he would have ruled himself out by now. Could be wrong of course and not fussed if I am, I’m not overly convinced but I suppose he has qualities.

Either way, whoever it may be, they have one mammoth motherf*cker of a job on their hands to turn this around. exciting project though! 😘.

miko1888

{Ed007's Note - Hey stranger, how's things Miko?}

1.) 20 Apr 2021 21:17:10
Hey Miko see the fact that it’s a project and your bang on btw it’s embarrassing how it’s got to that.

2.) 20 Apr 2021 22:04:39
Hey Ed, all good thanks, how’s it going? I’ve been checking in every now and again, some good chat on here. How’s the bhoy Tim? Welshy, the mismanagement has been astounding. It all started to go wrong when Moussa left and we’ve been in decline ever since - we don’t even have the spine of a team to build on, all the new manager has is Turnbull, Calmac, Jullien (don’t laugh) , Forrest, Welsh and Soro. What a mess, we have too many players who think they’re better than they are!

{Ed007's Note - I'm good mate thanks 👍

3.) 21 Apr 2021 00:33:19
Even if we could get Mourinho for £2m a year I wouldn't even want him I'd much rather Maresca over him and he's an unknown.

4.) 21 Apr 2021 07:20:09
Im not defending the board but i can understand to a point how we ended up here.

As 10 in a row was so important to the fans, the board were stuck between a rock and a hard place.

If they had started the rebuild last summer by selling the players who wanted to leave, the fans would have went mental. Just imagine the reactiion if we sold Edouard, McGregor, Ajer and Christie.

Obviously in hindsight, we can see that they made the wrong decision to keep them and this has put us in a worse position for next season.

All that being said the board should have planned this better and been more astute with recruitment and we would not have been in this mess.

5.) 21 Apr 2021 12:00:43
The board’s completely at fault. They didn’t see the rangers coming and dithered. This all started when we didn’t sell Ntcham to Porto.

20 Oct 2019 19:29:11
Reading all these excuses about internationals, etc. The reality of the situation is that Rangers are not as strong as Celtic, individually or collectively. RFC have played a lot of home games so far and as soon as a challenge presented itself away from home, they blew it against a team in the relegation zone. The midfield lacks any creativity and they rely on Morelos too often. Tynecastle takes width out of the game, so Arfield and Aribo had to make things happen - they never managed it and Ojo is not good enough. The centre halves are out of sync and don’t look like a good partnership, Katic is all over the place, for me - lacks composure. Celtic tend to have a strong 2nd half of the season, so RFC need a strong 1st half and it doesn’t look like that will happen. There’s no stopping 9, IMHO.

1.) 20 Oct 2019 20:18:38
Hope so miko1888 but we too have struggled away from home and we will play the same number as them - give or take after split. I agree we have a better squad though so should see us through when injuries and suspensions kick in.

01 Oct 2017 13:47:28
We have just played 3 games in a week and made 5 or 6 changes yesterday too, so to criticise players who won at Sevco and in Brussels is harsh. We looked flat yesterday, for obvious reasons, and Hibs played well and took advantage, deserving the draw, if not the win. We will be back on track!

Seems to be the norm now miko.

2.) 01 Oct 2017 21:28:15
I know mate, but I don’t think we're in a position to complain too much at this minute. We're still unbeaten domestically! Anyway HH 🍀.

3.) 02 Oct 2017 07:25:40
Exactly mate, god help us when we do get beat, wonder whose fault it will be.

Malika, sorry, please ignore my last comments, I have misread your post. I'm done with this now! Football anyone?

miko1888

Mikko, thanks, no problems at all, just banter between all, who have the love of the club at heart, otherwise we would not be on here and all this would not bring out our emotions, it's great to feel such passion from everyone never mind the diversity of the opinions ( don't think I should be placed at any dinner table with some of our brothers on here, otherwise the soup might just go over)
But it is what it is and you are right, Anyone for football?

We’re never going to pay £6m for a right back, nor would we pay £4m for a 28 year old. £2m for a former U-21 aligns with our transfer policy.

Absolutely Drew. Player's have played a full league season in the space of 4-5 months. Yesterday was the highlight of Sevco's season. a draw at Celtic Park! We dominated them in the first half and they could only try and contain us. 2nd half they won, but I'm not upset about it. Put it into perspective. There will be a revolving door in January, the squad will be refreshed and we'll be ready to go again. We're top of the league, in Europe and the treble is still on. Happy New Year, y'all!

I know what you mean mate. At times he acts like a wee boy on the pitch. The sheep were physical yesterday, he needs to learn how to deal with physicality a bit better. helluva good player though! 👍.

You lost me at the point where you mention Ajer could replace Scott Brown and Laxalt was probably our best performer yesterday - his first game for the club. I agree with some of what you say, however some of it is absolute tosh!
