Scott Robertson to Gillingham on loan.

markie

1.) 09 Sep 2020 14:37:25
That's a decent team to be going to - Steve Evans will look after him.

2.) 09 Sep 2020 18:02:50
I have no confidence that any manager will look after a loan player even as much as he will look after his own . This is especially true if the manager doesn’t think that he will be signing player after the loan period is up .
I much prefer if we are going to loan a player out we do so to a club near Glasgow, so that our coaching staff can keep a good eye on him at all times .

3.) 09 Sep 2020 18:33:05
Old man Chris, in general terms you are probably correct, but it happened with CalMac and Notts County and to a lesser extent with Jack Aitchison. Both players had the attitude that they were going to come back better players and they did. Aitchison cited the benefit CalMac had going on loan and followed suit. With Aitchison there just so happened to be better players when he came back. He's going to be a benefit to whoever signs him - by the looks of things at the moment, Barnsley.

It doesn't matter what player gets loaned out - if the loan player shows he's a benefit to the club then he'll be played. When you see the number of loanees sitting on the bench, or not included in the squad, it probably tells you something more of the player.

4.) 09 Sep 2020 19:40:06
Done ajer and Christie the world of good also.

5.) 09 Sep 2020 21:32:15
If he is better than what they have he will be looked after. If not he will find his level at Ross County or something. Always a hit or a miss but no point sitting about not getting competitive games. Good luck to him.

6.) 10 Sep 2020 11:34:10
Players need games and getting loaned out shows us if they have what it takes. If they have the ability they will make it. It's not the loan that scuppers them, it's a lack of the standard we should always be striving for. Players move on and those young guys who are loaned out have games to show the manager they coukd do the job. Sitting in the stand or sitting on the bench doesn't.

7.) 10 Sep 2020 15:26:04
For every two or three who go out on loan and come back to have a career with us, we have at least forty who come back a lot worse . This isn’t unique to Celtic . Take a look at Chelsea and Man City for example . Players who don’t go out on loan have a better chance of making in it with these clubs, than the hundreds who are loaned out . If a player can’t fight his way towards some playing time in some games at Celtic, going on loan won’t improve him.

8.) 10 Sep 2020 17:35:14
Agree with you on that point OmC. I used to go to Parkhead in the 80s and 90s to watch both the youths and reserves. There were players who played exceptional football for their age group and I was always of the view they would go on and do well in the first team. They didn't, because they couldn't get any better than the level they were playing at.

Scott Robertson is going to a club where the manager is a Celtic supporter and the level Gillingham plays at should be the level he could sustain and get better. There is development potential with Robertson, as there was with Aitchison and Calmac, and he will come back a far better player. That, I have no doubt.

9.) 12 Sep 2020 14:27:05
Ajer went to Kilmarnock when McCullough was Manager, Ajer still hasn’t managed to control his elbows and I know fans who are afraid to watch Ajer, as let’s his elbows lead the way as old Elbows Mc Cullough patiented.

The reports all stated that LG wasn't the only player left in Glasgow for these friendlies. I haven't seen anywhere what other players were deemed not fit enough. Does anyone know? Is there is other first team members or are the other players development players who might not have travelled anyway? Cheers.

markie

1.) 16 Jul 2020 10:07:13
Few that are on their way out of club either on loan or permanent didn't travel. Raltson, robbie deas ect. Not heard of any first team squad players though.

2.) 16 Jul 2020 18:15:09
Did rogic travel?

3.) 16 Jul 2020 23:29:42
Id be very surprised if rogic was fit to travel, would be funny since he's hardly been fit since he broke into the first team.

Funny how with a prospect of football being played behind closed doors everyone and their granny involved in the game at the highest level is using the Jock Stein quote Football without the fans is nothing. Yet when normality once again resumes the fans will still be treated with contempt from those at the very top.

I think Christie should be dropped for the final. That allows you to play Brown, Soro and Turnball. lennon wants to reward players who have got us to the cup final, but what about the fact that Christie won't sign a new contract and his Da is telling everyone he is definitely wanting to leave. Why reward him with anything. Soro and Brown anchoring midfield looks really strong to me and allows a 3 of Macgregor, Turnball and Frimpong. Which also gets Calmac further forward which is where I think he is better suited. Just my thoughts lads.

markie

1.) 16 Dec 2020 10:26:08
I also wondered about Lennon saying the guys who got us there deserved to play. Not if they haven't bothered their arses this season they don't.

2.) 16 Dec 2020 12:56:14
Wouldn’t start brown or Christie b4 soro and Turnbull, I can understand players lacking confidence or form, but most of our players have stopped trying or downed tools. Not saying brown has stopped trying, just saying his legs have stopped working 😂 but drop eddy for paddy.

3.) 16 Dec 2020 14:33:31
Eddy must play.

4.) 16 Dec 2020 18:32:11
I wouldn't be surprised if none of the three hazard, soro or Turnbull start. And Lennon wonders why fans are giving out about him. To say players deserve to start because they got them there is total rubbish talk. They are getting well paid and Lennon is too. His job is to pick the best side and win the cup. Not picking players who are way off the pace or just can't be arsed. Lennon seriously needs to get a grip of himself.

5.) 16 Dec 2020 20:50:35
Sorry aindoh but as much as I like big Eddy on present form is a man down. He needs to start doing a lot more than just turning up.

13 Dec 2020 13:53:25
Is the team a 352 or a 4231
Could read for either i think. I hope 4231 but I'm not sure he will start with frimpong on the wing. I think him and Taylor will be wingbacks. but I'm excited to see how soro/ calmac/ turnball get on in the middle.

markie

{Ed007's Note - 4-3-3, the same way we started on Thursday.}

1.) 13 Dec 2020 14:04:58
Ajer better at rb and frimpong better at rw although would like to see him deliver a telling cross . and Duffy and julien hopefully start to play together as I thought they did ok on Thurs.

12 Dec 2020 11:10:06
Hazard

Ajer Duffy Juliann newbhoy

Soro brown

Christie Turnbull Mcgregor

Eddie

Is this a good way of fitting in our existing players and ) 0⁰the new boys or just fitting round pegs in square holes?

markie

1.) 12 Dec 2020 12:25:34
Edouard has done nothing to deserve being a first choice pick this season.

Klimala pressing from the front with high energy midfield of Turnbull, Soro, McGregor, Christie and Moi. Guys that will put a shift in.

There's no use in part of the team pressing the ball whilst others like Edouard walk around with hands on hips.

2.) 12 Dec 2020 13:05:54
There is no use pressing full on, playing great, and then getting the ball near the opponent's goal and not having anyone capable of putting the ball in the net, what is this madness about Edouard?, he is our best striker, he must play,

{Ed007's Note - Has Edouard ever been what's considered a "hard working" player or the type of guy that walks about smiling and joking which seems to be the sticks used to beat him? Was it Sutton or maybe Nicholas that had a pop at him for not smiling enough or not celebrating enough when he scored?
The main problem with him imo has been the midfielders haven't been creating chances and space in the box for him so he's coming deep and then trying to take on a whole defence because there's no striker to partner him and no midfield runners arriving in the box.
If Lennon sticks with the 3 midfielders in Soro, McGregor & Turnbull as we all hope I can see Edouard getting better service into the box and hopefully that kickstarts his season for us

3.) 12 Dec 2020 13:37:41
He always seems to enjoy a goal against the dark side lol.

4.) 12 Dec 2020 13:39:32
To me Edouard looks like his head has been turned. I was of a similar opinion to ed earlier on in the season but the more I see the more I think he doesn't really care. I think if Klimala gets a run of 5 or 6 starts the goals will come for him.

5.) 12 Dec 2020 14:15:37
I agree Ed.

{Ed007's Note - 👍

Need some advice if anyone can help. I was going to buy my son the Scotland football top for his Christmas with Scotland getting through. but I just had a thought, do Scotland change there football top every year like club sides do? If so there might be an upgrade soon . Soz I have never bought international tops before so haven't a clue. Tia.

1.) 14 Nov 2020 17:32:05
Markie
Scotland will wear their current home strip until 2021 and I can’t see news of a new home top being released before the Euros.
Scotland will however release a new away strip in March 2021 in time for the Euros.
It’s a light blue colour.

2.) 14 Nov 2020 17:39:17
Buzz that's great news! Thanks for this mate! HH. tc.

3.) 14 Nov 2020 20:56:15
Buzz is our own official Tic-ipedia and can even be a 'phone-a-friend' for Scotland strips info ha ha.

4.) 14 Nov 2020 21:33:52
Current away kit runs to 2022. It was released in march this year. The light blue and white one. The home kit is due to change next year. The current home kit was released Nov 2019 but next years will be released before the euro prob around Easter.
More info on football shirt culture or sfa website.

5.) 14 Nov 2020 22:37:00
Sorry for the wrong information Markie.
That’s better news being able to get a new home top for the wee man.
I think that will be a big selling strip for the Euros.

There seems to be so many elements going wrong at the same time at present which is causing this malaise. Sutton today blaming Griffiths I see. What I don't understand though is it taking 8 weeks (since we came out of lockdown and players started training) and LG is still not fit enough to even play 45-60 minutes of football yet. I understand about the match fitness element and I coach in the running and keep fit world so I do have an understanding of it all, but he must have been hammered in terms of running as soon as he got back, been training 8 weeks, played in numerous mini bounce games in training, come of the bench recently and played a full 90 mins behind closed doors! But still only deemed fit enough to play a few minutes at the end of the game. I mean he's a fullyime footballer what are they actually doing at Lennoxtown. Don't get it. There is miss management from the top down that the only fit strikers we have for the most important game of the season is the 4th choice and a midfielder! Griffiths-coaching staff, Ajeti-PL pissing about taking so long to sign, Eddie-bad luck with C.V. yes but is there something more going on with him? And Jullian? He's very quiet on social media these days and this back injury carry on is all very strange, I'm not getting into the NL debate as I'm somewhere in the middle and see good points from both sides, but even sitting on the fence a blind man can see that the NL sitting in that dugout Arms folded meekly accepting defeat to that shower of sh1t is not fist pumping, aeroplane simulating guy who stood up to Nail Bombs. so many concerning things and we are a quarter of the way through one of the most important seasons in our history. Someone within the club and I don't care if its DD or the Doris the canteen lady need to get things sorted out very quickly as the double header against Aberdeen coming up is going to definitely plunge us into crises. Time for leaders, step forward someone!

Brilliant post Markie and spot on.

2.) 20 Oct 2020 17:02:25
I have not seen anything like this since the RD days or when John Barnes 'lost the dressing room' with so many huffy/ unsettled players, with indiscipline from Griffiths and even a player going AWOL (Boli) . Jullien and others rumoured to be falling out with the manager and as you say NL himself, looking and sounding so defeatist, disinterested and passive in embarrassing defeat.
You would hope the club captain could mediate or alleviate some of the pressures/ problems, but he too looked deflated on Saturday.
The club will not sack the manager in October and even though he looks so forlorn and dejected, he will not walk away, so the only immediate rectification is for a laying down of the law and even removal of certain players out of the daily routine, but that too has it's dangers and repercussions.
Some of the players seemed set on a move, but for one reason or another it never materialized; they are still under contract and really need to earn their money and perform in a way that shows a true valuation and attract positive interest in the future?
I feel so angry and upset, because here we don't have a team of players that are starved of success or on low wages, they are very, very fortunate compared to millions of other people and thousands of the best supporters in the world, who put their faith and cash into the club no matter what.
They deserve a manager and team that gives 100% at the very least.

3.) 20 Oct 2020 21:05:40
Who do you think or would have at celtic all big clubs go through periods of unrest but leaders are born not bought and the time is for players to step up and think why they wear the hoops and be trying hard to win every game for there fans who will follow them to the end no point saying this and that it has to be 100 per that's why they huddle no blame or shame just give it your all and I know we won't be far away as we are Glasgow Green and white is.

If he is sending out a message to juliane that he's not an automatic pic the he needs to send the email to Broonie and Jamsie to. On form Frimpong should be RWB tonight and Forrest dropped. Not sure what message that is sending to the boy.

I agree with Tomco. Easy to say we have to many midfielders, but Brown is just about finished and there has been speculation Christie isn't happy, Nchamp wants away and a couple of clubs are sniffing about Macgregor. The landscape could change really quickly. I think Fergusons value will rocket by the end of the season and he will be in demand like Mcginn was. He is the top young player in scotland outwith celtic and it would be remiss of us not to be looking seriously at him. i really don't want him at rangers, he could be their Broonie.

Thanks Stengo mate I appreciate the info. I'm excited now to see wee Harper. I used to enjoy keeping up with the development squad when we were getting games on celtic TV. Its absolutely farcical that there is no set up in Scotland for development sqauds now. And people wonder why the national team is so poor, and are asking things like why can't Scotland produce a decent striker anymore? The country is so far behind its unreal. Thanks again for the info though buddy, Ed was right, you are the go to man for anything regarding the young squad 👍.

Stengo do you really think Harper has a chance of breaking through this season. I did read he has bulked up so physically he might be ready. Also he seems to have taken the place of young Dembele on the bench, is there something in the rumours that Dembele wants to leave and the manager is trying to tell him something, or has Harper just moved ahead of him in the queue through sheer hard work (and ability obviously) ? Cheers!

Sorry that's a sh1ty post. 22 years since scotland qualified for a major competition. And if you think Christie doesn't put the same effort in wearing a celtic shirt then you haven't been watching him. Jeez allow that lad his momentum, whatever your thoughts are on Scotland qualifying, he is obviously a proud Scot who has just realised he was a huge part in creating history!
