Hi everyone,
Not posted in ages but I just wanted to throw my tuppence into the RD "debate". I am still behind him and his appointment, as ED says we have all experienced wins and defeats. My thought is that Ronnie is still an exciting coach with the best interests of the club and team at heart. There have been countless seasons where we have dropped points at Pittodrie or Rugby park etc. The fact that we are regressing is IMO not down to Ronnie it is down to how wiselyor more like unwisely we have spent on poor quality pplayers. Can Ronnie really turn an Ambrose into a Maldini or Scott Allan into a Messi? It is unrealistic to think he can. However if he can have the youth teams to first team playing a philosophy there is note of a chance of turning an 9-14 year old into one of the above. Patience unfortunately does not seem to be a virtue many of our "Faithful through and through" fans seem to have any longer.

Is it unrealistic to get them to defend a corner. Put a tackle in. Get back into a shape when the opposition keeper is about to kick the ball out? You are talking nonesense. It's not the defeats. It's no fight, no shape, no idea what to do. Why are we buying players for £1 or £2 mill and we play no better than Hibs! Support him all you want but at end of the day unless he goes it's going to get worse.

2.) 04 Feb 2016 15:00:44
I agree with both of you haha.

3.) 04 Feb 2016 16:12:01
Both of you have made honest comment and observation.
The gut feeling I have is we have went backwards since last season and although a lot of that may have to do with the absence of Denayer and VVD defensively [who gave Gordon a lot of protection].
However, I feel we have failed miserably in basic defending all season - no matter who he tried and we make the same mistakes time and time again = so the coaching is non existent and there is an alarming drop in form, from too many players who were outstanding last season and this super-fitness ideology is clearly not working.
Overall, I have doubts about what direction we are going?

4.) 04 Feb 2016 16:20:29
Johnymac why and how do u support Celtic?

5.) 04 Feb 2016 17:03:51
This is the first time we have lost twice at pittodrie since 1991. 4 defeats in 24 hardly countless.

6.) 04 Feb 2016 17:53:49
Grout64 isn't that a reasonable decent record to be proud of . Not beaten twice at Pittodrie since 1991. Record had to go sooner or later .

7.) 04 Feb 2016 21:07:56
I wasn't being statistical with my post, but fair play for wasting your time checking up those facts (why only go back to 1991 though) . Do the stats before 1991 make for poorer reading and therefore invalidate your point?

8.) 04 Feb 2016 22:50:28
Bankier boy don't mention it glad to be of help, I think 25 years is a sufficient statical sample. from that I think we can draw the inference that RD struggles to get the results necessary. remember he has also failed to beat hearts and Kilmarnock in the league this season and lost at home to Motherwell, this is unacceptable. I struggle to understand how he is seen as an exciting manager. I have been to most games this season the performances particularly at home have been dull and uninspiring. Our style is play is increasingly boring, I have lost count of the amount of times 10 or 12 consecutive passes end up back at Craig Gordon.

9.) 05 Feb 2016 01:24:28
I agree with the point about the ball being constantly recycled back to Gordon that is annoying, but surely that is not the tactic. However would you rather it went to him or a Boyata or Ambrose went bombing forward, lost theball and therefore gave away a ggoal scoring opportunity/penalty? As a general rule I think our home form is poor due to lack of atmosphere and negative attitude of so many fans these days. I remember not so long ago judt about Strachan's time even the Stadium was still generally full and electric. I think what the green brigade bring is good but when these guys were scattered around the stadium the individuals started the singing and chanting the stadium over. With regards to Ronnie being exciting IMO what I mean is his philosophy, whether our players current/future can get it right remains to be seen. As far as I know it is the same system Jurgen Klopp is trying to implement @ Liverpool. Ad you can see the results there are also up and down with far superior players than we have

Ronny is the head coach! Ffs he doesn't sign the players (unfortunately its Park and Lawwell) . The sooner fans realise that the manager and us fans are being treated like shite the better. Ronny had 2 hands, a leg and his balls tied behind his back (and tied together ad well) . PS Commons in name and nature. sack him for gross misconduct.

1.) 24 Oct 2015 02:37:03
PS. Commons is the most selfish player I have seen in years..shoot, shoot, shoot not for a win its all about personal glory IMO

2.) 24 Oct 2015 08:39:24
I'm still raging from Thurs night, and then the first thing I read this morning is that Leigh Griffiths thinks the fans were too hard on the team when they were getting on the bus in Molde, he said the criticism went to far, he said he could hear it before they went out the ground so just put his headphones on and ignored it. Between that and Commons, who's behaviour was a disgrace, especially the amateur psychology when pointing to the fans and trying to use them against Deila. You would think he's some sort of Demi-God, instead he is just an average player, who probably wouldn't get a game for any team in the English Premier League. And as if all that wasn't bad enough, we have Anthony Stokes sitting at home (fit) in front of his computer saying everything's cool! Instead of spending thousands every year watching this crap I think I might just stay home, sit in front of my computer, put my headphones on and live in a fantasy world also. I've always backed Ronny, but he has to sort this all out now. If there is a problem with Collins, or any other coaches he has to sort it, and get someone like Paul Hartley in who has a bit of passion. Ed, you mentioned that there might be a bit of an atmosphere between Brown and Collins still, I hadn't heard that, I was just assuming it was the usual suspects who don't like putting in the hard work at training and can't leave quick enough that were freaking out because they were getting shown up! Anyway Deila has to step up now, troublemakers in a dressing room are like a cancer, he also has to drop players - Boyata has been a disgrace, Izzy can't be trusted, get Teirney in now, and buy a defensive left back in Jan. We should try Bailley. Scott Brown's passing hasn't improved in 10 years. I wouldn't even have GMS on the bench the way he's playing, I'd try Nesbitt. Johansen needs a few weeks on the bench. If he can't handle these sort of decisions, if he's going to let Commons act like that, because he took a liberty knowing everyone was watching, and because he knew he could, so if Ronny can't show who's boss then we will need to make a change, I really hope it doesn't come to that though!

Delphic
That was an outstanding post.
Best of the year IMVHO
Applause.

4.) 24 Oct 2015 12:48:16
Delphic I don't often agree with your posts but I am 100% behind you on that one.

5.) 24 Oct 2015 13:36:40
I agree but I think the job is still too big for RD.
He is too naive and trusting in the wrong people and there are too many at the club who are not giving 100%.
Where else would a manager of a huge club have no say in his assistants or his transfer strategy and budget?
From the start of this campaign it has also been obvious that several players are deliberately under performing or excluding themselves in one form or another and this filters through the ranks and can only have a negative impact.

6.) 24 Oct 2015 14:26:58
Seven one . In what way are we a huge club . Ok we win a whole go of domestic leagues and cups, but wait a minute Scotland isn't really a top centre of excellence for football anymore . We had a wonderful spell in European football 60/70' s but we have really fallen since then . How many consecutive years without European football after Christmas? 28? Not really a huge club .

Lawwell received a salary of £524,576, a bonus of £400,500, "benefits in kind" of £17,312 and pension contributions of £57,108. That is a total of £999,496 received by the Parkhead chief in the financial year 2013/14. His total remuneration on the previous year dropped by £95.16 Oct 2014

It's not his fault Dermot Desmond wants to pay him a fortune.

2.) 31 Aug 2015 17:41:27
In the season ending 2014 we made £11net after tax the season before was about £9.5m. We posted a £7 mill loss the previous year. I think that was a year we failed to qualify for CL? The profits for years ending2013 and 2914 were boosted by the sale of players such as Wyamma, ledley, Hooper, Forrest etc. this season we have had to write off money for Pukkie, Balde etc, so combining that with 2 seasons of CL failure I believe the loss this year is going to be £8mill. So over the last 4 years we may be showing a total profit of only £5 mill. I don't think that's a good return when we are paying £1mill A year to a CEO! It would be different if we were building a decent team but I can't say we have progressed in the last season. PL will not get rid of RD because it really will look bad on him. It was his call to bring him in. He will back RD in the hope he comes good but if it fails and CL does not happen next season PL must go with RD.

3.) 31 Aug 2015 19:17:41
Johnnymac . I don't think it is fair to say that over the last 4 years we ONLY made a profit of £5m .
For a club operating in a very poor league like the SPL it magnificent that we have made a profit .
Before I go out celebrating , I will wait to see the audited accounts which are due out soon .

Final point today lol. my 2 boys aged 10 and 8 went to a football camp over the summer. This actually saddened me approx 30 kids on a daily basis and could wear suitable clothing to play football in fairenough right? On one day alone there were 12 kids with Barca tops on? Nearly half in years gone by I rreckon it would have been half and half Celtic and Rangers. This is the problem with money in the game. The champions league is brainwashing the future fans of our team and many many others in countries around Europe dare I even say the world. In many ways I refer the Europa league slightly more evenly matched and teams generallyt without he mega money

bankier bhoy

1.) 28 Aug 2015 13:52:49
Not sure they're brainwashed mate it's just a sign of the times. There are much more appealing leagues. Scottish kids turn on the tv and you have motd on with packed grounds and quality players. Then you have sportscene. Same for La Liga. I remember Frankie Boyles show about the independence referendum and he got a glaswegian boy up, asked him who he supported. Arsenal. Whos you're wee team he then asked. Celtic.

2.) 28 Aug 2015 13:54:03
Tbh my little girl has a barca and a real Madrid top but no celtic top because there are too many nut cases out there

Everyone, Crowd numbers, season tickets etc. does anyone think that the crowd levels have went down since the Tories came into power? The reason I ask is I have had a season ticket or shared one with my brother since 2001. After losing a few jobs through redundancy and unable to get anything that paid decent I went self employed. I think that the jobs available these days do not allow disposable income for football albeit a few big games per year maybe? Further to this the working week traditionally was Mon-Fri right? I cannot think of anyone I know who works or traditional Mon-Fri 9-5 anymore. Most jobs on the lower pay scale include Sat and Sunday or 5 days over 7 etc. Maybe I am wrong but odd days working have made me not renew so how many other fans are in the same boat across the UK and Eire?

{Ed007's Note - What Tories do you mean, the government or the ones in our boardroom?}

1.) 28 Aug 2015 13:23:31
Ed007 both tbh lol. In that group I include media in particular TV etc

{Ed007's Note - Nothing's going to change until there is change in the boardroom.}

2.) 28 Aug 2015 13:30:05
Crowd numbers are down because we have to endure the same penny pinching piss poor football every year. We have a board that is so short sighted it's bordering on criminal. Until Celtic can up their game and take a fair crack at Champions League football then they will never get the fans back. Personally, I gave my season ticket up because it was taking me a whole day to go to a Celtic game which I thought wasn't fair on my family. Even now it would take something pretty special for me to make the long trek to Glasgow. I can't see anything special coming up in the foreseeable future.

Well I am going tomorrow and I am putting 9-1 bet on. I am taking the wife and 2 boys. We are in the east Kilbride section as that is my 9-10 year old boys' team. I want Celtic to win obviously and it will feel strange in the other section. However we are from EK and I would like to see them score 1 goal
