Family kinda famous and he's articulate and smart.

Unless Rodgers has a quality goalkeeper in mind to bring in I'd be tempted to offer Gordon a better deal than he's currently on. I know not everyone is a fan of his but he's the best we've got at the moment. He's certainly not flawless but I do feel his game has improved from last season. We certainly shouldn't be entertaining £3 million bids for him. Chelsea's are loaded and keepers can play till they're nearly 40.

I understand money talks, but I have to say I was surprised when I read that as well. If that's the case, I would try and get 4 million for him and punt him. We basically saved him from the scrap heap and apart from his first season he has made quite a few mistakes . If he prefers to earn more money while sitting getting splinters in Chelsea good luck to him . My only concern would be the club bringing in another keeper. The only bad buy Brendan seems to have brought in is de vries . Hypothetically, if we could get 4 million for him, add another 2 to it and go out and get a good young keeper .

If I remember correctly, when CG came to Celtic he didn't get a very good contract as far as £££'s were concerned due to his injury history and the uncertainness about whether he would last. Has that initial contract been improved as time has gone by?
If it hasn't then I would understand his thoughts (if the rumours are true) about wanting to talk to Chelsea. They could easily give him £20k a week or more just to sit on the bench and it's the same old story about loyalty: if a rival company offered you a lot more money to do the same job as you're doing now then you'd have to listen to them. HH

Regardless of what we are paying him. Chelsea could easily treble it with out even noticing. If I remember correctly Begovic was/ is on 70-80k a week for the same position so they will probably be prepared to pay similar money but pocketing the cash difference between him and Gordon. With that in mind I would agree with comments above. Hold out for 5-6m under the premise that he is instrumental to our squad, let him go. Maybe get a better keeper in, Vrom would be ideal but doubtful, or let our other 2 keepers see the season out given its in the bag already and just hope they do OK in the cup ties.

{Ed007's Note - Was that an actual official statement you seen? There was no statement from the player's parent club, the player or his agent (who was supposedly there even though there's no proof of thar) OR from Celtic, that I know of.
It looked to me like Nagbe travelled over for a short break and to take in the game, people looked at his social media accounts, added 2 and 2 and came up with a million, even his parent club said it was no more than him having a break/holiday.
