Celtic apparently interested in le havre striker tino kadewere, 17 goals in 19 apps this season and valued at 10m.
Andraz sporar deal looks a non starter as supposedly we haven't made any sort of offer since talks started 2 weeks ago and according to his club they've had concrete bids from sporting Lisbon and another club.

Personally can't see us spending big on a striker this month will more likely be a loan deal the last few days if we free up some wages.

Greenclover

1.) 07 Jan 2020 13:55:46
Looks like Sinky's 30k a week are now freed up.

I wish him all the best 👍.

2.) 07 Jan 2020 14:09:59
Seen this today and yes need a striker one that Lennon might play anyway, Lennon has issues with a lot of the squad he only plays his pals, Sinclair booted out, shved not given a chance, crying for a striker so eddy can drift back into that left side but won’t give griff or bayo a run, the Nonsense about griff or bayo not being fit is just that

they have been in training for long enough now no major injury set backs yet they don’t make the bench

Lennon is needing a boot up the arse imo play your squad you have or why are they there, yes we need a centre back a midfield enforcer and a striker but give these guys a run too arzani and shved and griff that left peg is magical at times and bayo will score proved this in pre season and the few outings he’s had that he can be dangerous.

3.) 07 Jan 2020 14:47:58
Totally agree mate, we should be giving our fringe players more of a chance.
I personally think we need to switch the system now because it feels as if rangers have cracked it and know how to stop us playing, hence the reason they've played us off the park the past 2 games.
They're stopping our midfield from playing which as a result leaves edouard totally isolated up top and we're also looking suspect at the back at times, especially ajer recently with cross balls.
A 3-5-2 imo with elhamed back in would give us far more solidity with frimpong at right wing back, this would then allow us to play two up top whilst also proving width.
As much as I like Forrest and his stats are good he blows hot and cold far too often and is like a schoolboy when we play rangers, so a run out the team might give him a boot up the backside to stop the complacency.
Griff and edouard up top with a packed midfield to counter them would ask far more questions against teams than the way we played against them in both games last month.
We look far too predictable and it's definetely time for a change.

4.) 07 Jan 2020 16:12:45
Lennon going back to how he was before by playing his buddies no matter how bad they are playing and not giving anyone else a chance.

05 Jul 2019 00:08:35
Celtic lining up a move for hapoel beer sheva defender Hatem Abd Elhamed. 28 years old can also play RB and is apparently available for 1.6m
Don't know how much truth there is to it but personally it sounds as if it's just another name thrown out there in our direction.

Anyone know if there is any truth to this Christian stuani link or is it usual paper talk?
I know he was amongst the top goal scorers in la liga and at 32 is a decent return for his age but I personally can't see this going anywhere and he's most likely going to stay in a better league.
Would love to see a different formation next season with 2 up top as this formation we play is far too predictable to teams now (I know it sounds daft as we've won 3 trebles with it) Just think it would give us better options/ ideas and the thought of a fully fit griff back playing with edouard would be great if it could work.
If lenny takes the job then hopefully he can get bayo upto speed and that's another option for us in attack, all the speculation is going to happen but no doubt we need faces out the door before we bring in better quality, especially defence and another 1 or 2 in attack.

What youse all thinking?

Greenclover

1.) 30 May 2019 12:54:34
I don't see why we need 4 strikers but guess if we're going to play 2 up top then we need cover for them both. For that kind of money Stuani will cost I'd rather we spent big on the defence and not waste most of our budget on another striker.

2.) 30 May 2019 14:40:49
Apparently will Cost around 8mill plus Barcelona interested also.

3.) 30 May 2019 18:08:46
No way we are paying 8m for a 32 year old.

4.) 31 May 2019 00:17:15
I think this one is usual paper talk but that's what happens every transfer window with us, we're going to be linked with every player under the sun.

5.) 31 May 2019 00:51:35
Thats fantasy prices. there's not a snowballs chance we would pay that fee for someone in their prime never mind someone in their 30's.

6.) 31 May 2019 08:31:03
Like French eddy?

7.) 31 May 2019 13:52:44
Wylie that was a one off for a kid we knew had the ability to get us a good return on our money.

If the ismaila soro deal is on then I'm hoping it's 3rd time lucky with signing Ivorians as the last 2 have been a disaster so far, actually forgot kouassi was still a celtic player.
As for bayo maybe it's not been a disaster as such and the Lad just needs a run of games to boost his confidence a bit, if we're really after that sporar then sending bayo on loan as part of a deal would surely make sense since he played in the same league before signing for us.

Greenclover

1.) 09 Jan 2020 18:17:15
Doubt it will be 3rd time lucky when he's about the 6th player we have signed to have come from there.

2.) 10 Jan 2020 13:30:04
Kolo wasn't exactly a success either. His Ambrose performance against Monchengladbach is hard to forget.

08 Jan 2020 12:29:07
Lennon today saying we might have to change tactics and system when it comes to playing rangers from now on, personally think it's a needs must now.

Looking too suspect at the back, especially with cross balls so may be 3-5-2 with elhamed in there to bring more solidity.

Imo frimpong would be best at fullback with Taylor given a run on the left, this still provides width and cover and would nulify the threat of there fullbacks getting forward. If we can then pack the midfield this way it would allow us to play through them and play 2 up top to give edouard support.

Unless we sign another striker this month then elyounoussi or Griffiths up top would provide us with more of a threat while being far more balanced in midfield, hopefully they're trying out different tactics and formations this week as we're in dyer need of changing it up.

Thoughts?

Greenclover

1.) 08 Jan 2020 12:40:15
I'm not keen on 3 at the back myself.

2.) 08 Jan 2020 12:48:17
Something different is required. Whether that's a 352 or another formation I don't know. Maybe just the tactics that need to change rather than formation. We went long at Ibrox while pressing them hard and won easily.

3.) 08 Jan 2020 13:17:54
Not 3 at the back for me. They are strong down the wings and that formation plays into their hands.
4-3-3 that can morph into a 4-5-1 is way to go imo.

4.) 08 Jan 2020 13:40:47
Mite sound petty but for me lennon shouldn’t be coming out with this in public! Yes we may need another approach to that particular game but keep that indoors! Shows weakness in my opinion and looks from the outside looking in that we’re letting for me an inferior team get under our skin! Sure a few will disagree lol. just doesn’t look good to me our manager putting that out in public.

5.) 08 Jan 2020 16:04:20
Maybe if Celtic had did the basic thing at a corner and put a player on the post we could have got a point, julien had 2 cleared off line by davis who was the man on the post at corner kicks. Katic had a clear header because ajer just stood like a statue but a player on post would have stopped it.

6.) 08 Jan 2020 17:45:41
Im with u there danny. No need to state the obvious, we can all see they dominated the middle of the park. Weak management from lenny.

7.) 08 Jan 2020 18:49:55
Just felt that sort of talk should be in house Steph! Think we all realise we need to approach it differently, not just tactically but our attitude to. no need to bring it out in public IMO.

04 Jan 2020 13:10:23
Would just like to see how many fellow hoops agree/ disagree with this.

I personally think after the game last week it's got to a point where enough is enough and a change of system/ players is needed. As bad it kills me to say it, of the past 5 games since Lennon has been back they've outplayed us in 4 of those and definetely have found a way to play through us. The only game we had pass marks was the 2-0 at ibrox and even at that Kent and morelos didn't even start that game. It's got to a point now where we've been absolutely rank rotten and are getting played right through and too many players are going missing.
I'm not buying the fact that the Forrests and christies have been unbelievable or whatever, yes they've done well, but they definetely go missing when we play them, especially Forrest.

For that reason alone and how poor we've been against them I honestly think we should switch it to 3 at the back and play frimpong right wing back with elhamed ajer and jullien at the back. This would give us far more solidity while providing the width of the fullback s to get up and down when required.

As much as I love edouard he's totally isolated when the rest of the midfield are crap so my honest suggestion is to play 2 up top to give them more to think about when we play them and pack the centre of the park so we can win those battles, that's exactly what they've managed to do to us and it's time we step up and do the same.

Thoughts?

Greenclover

{Ed007's Note - It's a no from me and it's not just against them that we struggle to really impose ourselves on the game imo. I'd prefer we switched to a 4-3-3 and let McGregor control the tempo we play at and really influence the game. Allowing Brown to be the main playmaker is a major problem.}

1.) 04 Jan 2020 13:34:43
You know it ed007 I know it and they know it too 👎.

2.) 04 Jan 2020 14:00:05
We played 433 for a while last season and didn't look any better. I agree though that McGregor should play in the deep lying playmaker role. Brown has his uses playing a killer pass isn't one if them.

3.) 04 Jan 2020 14:42:08
If every supporter was totally honest, they would agree with your assessment of recent Sevco games, where we have been predictably outnumbered and outfought with several of our players bottling it.
It's not easy to admit, but a guy like James Forrest who has scored many, many important goals and performed well in European matches, just becomes invisible - along with usually two or three others - who we would rely on create chances and win us games.
The most frustrating facts (apart from star men going AWOL) are that our 'tactics' and formations have played right into their hands game after game and finally; Sevco are no world-beaters and are very average especially with a striker who can't hurt us.
On paper we have the strongest squad in the country, while they are mostly, an assembled who's - who from the bargain bucket.
Neil Lennon must take some of the responsibility for repeating mistakes and Slippy takes credit for moulding misfits into a consistent unit that knows their roles and steps up to the plate.
We cannot afford to play favourites again and again, who regularly fail to at least compete in these important title deciders and I hope we actually bring in some real quality to shake a few up.

4.) 04 Jan 2020 17:47:00
I’m with you all the way Greenclovr. I’ve named my 3-5-2 team on another thread.

5.) 04 Jan 2020 21:36:00
I always laugh when it’s said they played us off the park when Celtic beat them 2-1 with Forrest scoring the winner.
After 60 minutes Sevco had 0 shots at goal.0 shots on target and also 0 corners.
They started playing well after they scored with their first shot at goal in the match, it was their last throw of the dice because they were losing the match and well behind Celtic on points. It’s the least they could try.

Remember Celtic also went down to 10 men due to an injury to Boyata and although Lennon got out of jail because of his terrible substitutions on the day, Celtic still deservedly won the game.

6.) 04 Jan 2020 19:14:20
I totally agree with Ed on this. McGregor plays at a faster tempo and Brown slows it down.

{Ed007's Note - Brown's still good at what he does which is breaking up play and harassing & getting in about the opposition but McGregor should be the main man when it comes to dictating our play.
Think back to the Keane/Scholes partnership at Man Utd years ago, Keane won the ball and let Scholes pull the strings.}

14 Aug 2019 20:37:10
With last night's monstrosity still ringing over the fans heads, I as much as everyone else 100 percent blame Lennons selection and tactics for the defensive calamity on show.

Greenclover

1.) 14 Aug 2019 20:53:37
Do you blame Lennon for brown handling ball or bain not holding the ball? Team selection was wrong but it was those 2 errors more than tactics that put us out.

2.) 14 Aug 2019 21:15:14
jim they'll probably start blamein lennon for BRexit leveing to.

3.) 14 Aug 2019 21:40:47
But why did he play CalMac at left back?, and why did Brendan play him at left back at Ibrox, I think the reason is, they both wanted him in the team because he is one of our best players, but they also wanted Scott Brown in midfield, because of some misplaced sense of loyalty to our long serving captain, the problem isn't Neil Lennon in losing the Cluj game or Brendan in losing at Ibrox, the problem is Scott Brown, Neil Lennon has to get a grip, and start playing our best most attacking midfield, and it will have no place for Scot Brown.

4.) 14 Aug 2019 21:54:43
Those who defend Lennon are the reason he won't be sacked and the reason there will be a lot more tactical masterclasses from him this season just like last night and at Ibrox👎.

5.) 14 Aug 2019 22:05:08
Lennon and Brown can go.

6.) 14 Aug 2019 22:05:50
Totally agree.
Brown is great to have in the squad no doubt about it, however this is the time to blood in the team for the future.
What kind of confidence has been handed to Boli and Julien?
I'm not going to carry on moaning about what has happened qualifying is never a guarantee, and getting smashed in the CL isn't fun to watch.
Europa League is our level and we have to accept that.
Let's get a young hungry team picked and let's get cracking, another LB in and that will do me, enough cover everywhere else taking the young lads who need games into consideration, and try Bitton in the holding role he may prove a good replacement for Brown.

7.) 14 Aug 2019 22:18:37
Or even Ajer in the holding role the lads a beast and has captain material written all over him.

8.) 14 Aug 2019 23:19:13
So let’s me digest this properly. Celtic lose one game this season and Lennon should be sacked. Wow.

9.) 15 Aug 2019 00:02:56
Aindoh I 100% blame Lennon for last night poor team selection and poor game management individual errors on the park will always cost and brown and bain have to take responsibility for their parts but at 2-1 we have £10m worth of defenders sitting on the bench instead of replacing Johnston and brown to see the game out.

10.) 15 Aug 2019 02:01:07
There were only 3 players who were defensive minded in that line up. I don't know what Lennon was thinking. He was looking at blowing Cluj away just never happened.

I honestly think a lot of our players are believing their own hype Petrescu gave it they don't know how to lose. Barcelona this and DNA that rubbish that side would have been slaughtered if we qualified.

Wee red was out foxed The eyes were way off the ball ill prepared in my opinion. As much as I love Lenny he has to do a job for the team not Lawwell that means play your best players not force them out if they don't want to go pay them up tough that's the way it goes. Sinclair Lustig and Tierney were missed they are messing Sinclair around that's why Lustic left as he seen it coming why take the option and not play him. Wage would have been free to use on a top player. I think there's a bit of grumbling going on and the twitter faux pas not having that.

11.) 15 Aug 2019 06:23:56
Jaw1888,but my point is Brendan did the same thing, Brendan is hailed as a great coach and tactician and manager, all the things that the anti Lennon people accuse Lennon of not being, the problem is blatantly obvious, it is this insane loyalty to Scott Brown.

12.) 15 Aug 2019 09:01:58
Unfortunately there comes a time when players are not what they once were and Scott Brown is there. He is still an important member of the squad but when we are involved in high tempo games he has little or no influence on the game. It's simple down to age and the legs slowing down. Lennon needs to realise this and understand he can't play week in week out. Both last year in Europe and in the two away old firm games he simple couldn't get a kick of the ball due to this fact. It fine playing your Dundee and st Johnstone etc when it's at a snail pace which brown will control all day but once the tempo goes up then he is in trouble. Look at the way we played when brown was out and Calmac went to that position. Him Christie and rogic the pace of the game was super and we destroyed teams because they couldn't live with it. That pace is not possible with brown in the team. Again not for one second am l saying get rid of him but the manager needs to be smart in the way he uses him and what games. To play our best ball playing midfield at LB to accommodate both nitcham and brown was madness. For me Calmac is first choice every day of the week and chose one from the other two. Just being captain should not ensure u should start.

13.) 15 Aug 2019 09:50:32
Aindoh McGregor is only one of our best players if he I'd played in his natural position.

Lennon made a total count of it and if you can't see that then I have no idea what you were watching.

He made about 5-7 serious mistakes.

14.) 15 Aug 2019 09:57:35
And Rodgers got slaughtered for playing McGregor at LB. I can mind the live chat and we were going berserk.

15.) 15 Aug 2019 10:30:15
Yes but why did they play him at left back, it's because Scott Brown is undroppable, if McGregor had played instead of Brown in midfield, anybody could have played at left back, because Cluj would have been to busy trying to defend and cope with Celtics attack to bother about attacking themselves.

16.) 15 Aug 2019 11:32:38
No Rodgers played him at left back because KT wasn't fit and there was no left other left back.
Lennon sat a 3 million pound left back on the bench and played him there.
One that's played most the games this season.
If it was done because of an emergency then we wouldn't be going daft at him.

17.) 16 Aug 2019 11:37:16
Ice Man,
Lennon shouldn't have gotten the job very poor manager. We went from 1 of the best in Britain to a manager that had Hibs sitting 8th. No tactical awareness. Poor poor manager I would sack him immediately if it was my decision. We won't win the league under him.

Anyone any rumours regarding a transfer to a new kit manufacturer? 😂
That new 3rd kit is the final straw for me, sincerely hope this is the last year with them.

1.) 26 Jul 2019 17:00:11

I heard that Leon 30 million for 5 year deal? Not great tbh.

3.) 26 Jul 2019 17:24:20
Is that new top grey n pink or white n pink? Seen some pics n it looks different in each of them lol.

4.) 26 Jul 2019 18:03:22
Not a top I would buy personally but read comments saying it's linked in someway to Scott Brown's sisters charity and will raise money for that cause.

5.) 26 Jul 2019 21:38:46
If that's the case I will buy it. for my daughter.

6.) 26 Jul 2019 21:39:19
I read that had but can't see any official comment about it.

7.) 26 Jul 2019 21:33:15
If it was then they would need to advertise as that to get the greatest amount of publicity and then sales for the charity.

8.) 27 Jul 2019 01:45:18
Am not saying it's true but that's what a read online . As people have said, an official statement will help . But then it's like blackmail lol tug the heart strings .

9.) 27 Jul 2019 02:12:05
Adidas ain't no better. Man United have had some ugly kits of late.

10.) 27 Jul 2019 01:05:24
Most definitely aimed at female fans. It's a good idea. No real need for a 3rd kit anyways.

11.) 27 Jul 2019 12:41:02
Adidas was confirmed last week. Been an open secret for weeks.

Have to agree with Chris here, I'm not having a go at forrest because the last few seasons including this one so far his numbers have been exceptional.
However, being one of the more senior players whose been in this first team for nearly ten years he definetely hides when the going gets tough, he's absolutely diabolical when we play rangers and yes the past 2 games against them most of them were bad but I just think with his experience he should be taking control and getting a grip instead of looking like a lost little schoolboy, even the 2-0 game at ibrox he was substituted and we were far better after that.
It's ok to say that he's been involved in X amount of chances etc but barring a few big games he very rarely turns up, I honestly think it's just complacency because he's been that used to very little competition down that right side but changing the system and putting frimpong further up would definetely improve us.

Would take it with a pinch of salt, too many names been mentioned in the past then we all of a sudden sign someone out the blue who hasn't been linked in the slightest.
Best just to wait and see until celtic confirm a player has agreed to join us, until that happens it's just sheer speculation.

Definetely a 10% sell on clause added when dembele was sold but as for 100m euros lyon want I think that was just the fee being mentioned by there President or chief executive, also heard he won't be going anywhere in January so most likely be the summer.

Can't see chelsea paying that for him, the most he'll probably go for is probably 40-50m so would still give us a tidy profit.

Agree that we should play a 3-5-2 the second half of this season, we've been far too predictable and rangers have played us off the park so they've obviously found a way of playing against us.
Elhamed in beside ajer and jullien gives us far more cover while providing width and packing the midfield to counter act there fullbacks from getting forward.
Would play frimpong right wing back and try Forrest up top with edouard or just playing off him, either that we have options in Griffiths and elyounoussi, we need to play 2 up top now edouard is being left far too isolated.

Haven't heard anything about wanyama but I honestly reckon we'll get him on loan for the rest of the season, he's totally frozen out at spurs and if sinclair moves I'm sure we can cover his wages for 6 months or so.

As for edouard I reckon it's all bullsh*t and it's just the papers trying to stir stuff again by linking him to Leicester, apparently ajer and mcgregor were certainties to leave in the summer so I wouldn't look to much into it.

Celtic have just banked 25m from Tierney and made a decent amount from the Europa league run so I don't think Lennon and the board are daft enough to sell him and possibly lose the title, I've no doubt he'll end up in the premier league but just not at the moment.
