Just had the most alarming conversation with a well respected ex player and I don't mean one of these to pundits, according to him all is not as rosy between BR and lawwell as we are lead to believe in fact there is quiet a bit of friction between them apparently BR and his scouting team handed the board a shopping list with 6 players on it before last season finished. , and as we all know not one deal has been struck to date, he also said that the deal for nycham was almost a done deal before BR knew it was happening and his only input was was then know this sounds mad but I did believe him and all this nonsense around McGinn certainly is leaving me uneasy and just to cap it all boyata is on his way and they already know he won't be here this season, really am getting angry that all this crap will chase BR away I know he loves the club and won't take the decision lightly but if he believes he's not being supported then it may well happen. hope this hasn't put you guys of your cornflakes.

If the story is true, you would really need to know who the players are, and what sort of money that’s required to buy them. I believe that we do penny pinch, but also think we have far too many players picking up a decent wage, and never playing, so new players must be 1st team picks, and not more squad players or prospects.

{Ed007's Note - Just ignore it, the story simply isn't true and thankfully not many posters on here take a pile of $hite on their morning cereal.}

2.) 25 Jul 2018 09:26:22
I find these post hard to believe when supposed supporters can't even spell a first team players name correctly.

{Ed007's Note - And considering Ntcham has spoken about how Rodgers spent time convincing him to move to Celtic and how he was impressed with the manager and his philosophy. }

3.) 25 Jul 2018 09:33:52
It's mad that the club disclosed all that negative information to this ex-player.

4.) 25 Jul 2018 09:41:30
Something definitely isn't right at the moment, even using rough calculations we should have at least £10 million to spend on players (outwith the Edouard signing) . VVD money along with the Armstrong Money and two seasons in the CL proper should mean we are not haggling over a £3 million pound deal for McGinn.

5.) 25 Jul 2018 10:23:12
Ed, any idea what is going on behind the scenes. Read an article this morning, all be it on a blog and they seemed convincing 😂 hoping you offer an insight to make me sleep easy tonight.

{Ed007's Note - This is the best time of year to write blogs because you can just write anything and people are that desperate for news they'll read it - and if it's negative about Peter Lawwell or the board all the better because all the whining panic merchants in the support lap them up.
We've already spent more on one player than the rest of Scottish put together will have by the end of the window.}

6.) 25 Jul 2018 10:37:17
Man people come on here with some amount of bollocks just to have a pop at the board.
Not 1 deal has been struck?
So Bain and edouard haven't been signed then. Must have dreamed that.
Ntcham has said in more than one interview that it was Rodgers that convinced him to sign as did dembele.

7.) 25 Jul 2018 10:50:27
What a sh£te thread - just made up bull stories.
Thanks for wading in ed - before everyone’s paranoia took over.

Let’s just enjoy the game tonight and let BR and PL get on with the transfers.

Remember we are not a tribute act.

8.) 25 Jul 2018 11:50:55
Connolly is that your first post. Sounds like the drunk ramblings and wishful thinking of the sevconian. Plum!

9.) 25 Jul 2018 11:54:39
Remember that a transfer is not as simple of the player wants to come and the board pay the fee. There is agents fees loyalty bonuses win bonuses clean sheet bonuses goal bonuses depending on the players position then you have image rights and loads of other things that we don't get told about so let's just let lawell do what he does best and get the best deal for our club. Remember we are not a 6 Yr old club. We do things properly and quietly not running to the first journo who will print any story.

10.) 25 Jul 2018 12:44:51
What a load of bollicks Brendan has publicly applauded everything Peter has done for him from signing players and the new pitch and teaining ground upgrades plus Brendan on record this morn saying boyata to stay.

Noticed that the original Poster of this nonsense hasn't come back to argue the case or reaffirm the 'rumour'. Clown.

13.) 25 Jul 2018 15:15:12
I was going to say the same yernaws. People come on with negative rubbish about how we won't sign anyone and that the managers not happy and the board have said this and That, they then sit back and let everyone go daft and you never hear from them again.

14.) 27 Jul 2018 14:53:25
Aside from the BR PL part I still think boyata could be offski. The thing that gave me that impression was the failure to appeal Sims red in the last leg. It would of allowed us cover for this game with boyata and lustig ready to step in for the 2nd game. Could just be us being honest and taking it on the chin right enough.

Hearing bojan due in Glasgow tomorrow for talks BR hopes to have him in Austria this week.

Not this again! Lol. ok I'll bite, where u hearing this then? Lol.

2.) 25 Jun 2017 21:36:33
Come on, that's the worst yet.

3.) 25 Jun 2017 22:32:42
He'd be a fantastic signing. If it happens it would be once CL football is secured I think, the sort of player BR mentioned the other day with regards to EPL players becoming available in the last week of the window. He'd be our Coutinho.

4.) 26 Jun 2017 09:39:47
26 on his 8th club . do stoke want him or would they bite the hand off anybody making offer . is the boy suffering from early hype . is he lazy . has he an attitude problem . or just a plain average player. do we pay too much to get all of the above . or just to look ok / good in spl? . there are far better out there imo.

5.) 26 Jun 2017 11:34:36
Is Bojan the new Robbie Keane haha.

6.) 26 Jun 2017 17:49:26
Borini. Janujaz. Bojan. No no no. All over rated and pish.

19 Aug 2016 12:14:52
Just getting a hint of a possible new signing, depending on CL qualification, from what I'm hearing it will break the current transfare ceiling and will be a player that has played under BR previously, the player is a defensive midfielder who has already had informal talks with the club, everything is being kept under wraps to avoid any hi jacking by other clubs, so we are looking at a forrmer or present Chelsea, reading, or Liverpool player who is a DM can't be to many who fit that criteria . HH.

Connolly

1.) 19 Aug 2016 12:44:03
Im still going with SG. He is out of contract soon and seemingly Alex and him want to come home, why? Beats me but that's been going around for sone time now.

2.) 19 Aug 2016 12:52:55
lucas leiva?

3.) 19 Aug 2016 12:56:10
Hail hail

1st time poster, long time reader.

Presuming by wording from Connolly above the answer is lucas leiva. He Brown would be very strong, would give no excuse to Bitton and McGregor not to excel (McGregor has being highly impressive recently)

Was in Derry yesterday talking to someone who presumably knows Duffy and said the move was never on the cards. In all fairness lad was in bar all the day so may be just giving it the big I am.

4.) 19 Aug 2016 12:58:47
Hope your right connoly! Been sayin if we get someone in next to brown I'll be happy. where u hearing this buddy? Been a few saying this! Skinnybhoy being one of them! Just hope we're not setting ourselves up for dissapointment with this! Would love it to be true but the sceptic in me says don't get our hopes up! Question for everybody, would you all be dissapointed if we didn't bring in a marquee signing or would u be happy with our business?

5.) 19 Aug 2016 13:22:18
I think Lucas is a good fit and at least realistic.

6.) 19 Aug 2016 13:23:31
although I don't see him costing too much in transfer fees.

7.) 19 Aug 2016 13:14:48
Hail hail

First time poster last time reader. Great site lads. Good banter and info.

By the sounds of info/ opinion of Connolly above Lucas Leiva possibly. He would be great addition and compliment Brown. Would be very solid. Would give McGregor and Bitton no excuse to progress (being impressed with McGregor lately) .

Sad to see Brown retiring from international seem to drive him (can't question his loyalty, but hey Celtic's gain

Was talking to a young lad out for his gcse results in Derry yesterday. He had a good few in him and was giving it the big I am, but anyway claimed to be cousin of Duffy and said the was never any contact from Celtic. Luckily seems he done an Ambrose in the last 2games, considering one of last 2 was champ league qualifier. Still believe Duffy is a decent player but maybe when he settles, considering we already have a current quota of bombscares.

{Ed007's Note - Welcome aboard, Ciaran.}

Can anyone help clear this up, talking with a well respected ex player after last nights game a he's not one of those pundits that continually badmouth the club much the opposite Infact and its his contention that lawwell is still very much calling the shots at Celtic park so what exactly is going on , is he gone, going, or still working away in the back ground, if it is the latter then why bring in McKay, there needs to be some serious transparency about what is going on and who is taking decisions behind the scenes, questions that need answers now especially, who decided to wait months for a manager, who took the decision not to back the new manager and why, sorry guys 2 boys from Wednesday neither anywhere near first team players and a young player from Israel with potential but nothing more at present as last night showed I know Forrest missed a sitter but for now can't see Abada replacing him when he's fully fit, maybe the Japanese and swede will help but certainly not a given, finally and on a more positive note Murray for a young kid thrown in at the deep end was excellent and if they don'ruin him by putting to much pressure on him so soon will have a bright future.

1.) 29 Jul 2021 09:34:46
Peter Lawwell has been involved in a couple of Uefa committees since 2014.
He’s on the European Club Association ( ECA ) board and he’s also on the Uefa strategy council committee.
I think to continue with this work, Lawwell has to remain involved with a member club.
Celtic have allowed him to remain a director on The Celtic and Athletic Football Club board, so he can fulfill his other duties.
My guess is he will still receive a salary from Celtic as a consultant but it won’t be the millions he’s annually earned/ received in the past.

2.) 29 Jul 2021 10:02:55
Buzz, he needs to be removed from his position at the club because Being involved in the UEFA stuff isn’t having any positive effect at our club in a footballing sense.

3.) 29 Jul 2021 10:06:06
Cheers buzz bomb so in reality he's still in position to have an influence on proceedings goes a long way to explaning this lastest window fiasco has his paw marks all over it.

{Ed007's Note - Lawwell isn't in a position to have any influence. There are rules and regs that cover how a PLC is ran.}

4.) 29 Jul 2021 10:07:18
Abada will be twice the player Forrest is, Forrest had 2 chances then done he haw. Forrest is all legs nothing else when fit!

5.) 29 Jul 2021 10:38:55
Not Forrest biggest fan but it was 2 more chances than Abada created. Boy was miles off the pace.

6.) 29 Jul 2021 12:13:00
No he wasn't Auf, they doubled up on him because they knew the threat he posed.

7.) 29 Jul 2021 13:26:08
100% malkybhoy. Abada played very well in the 1st leg before he was hooked due to Bittons stupidity.

The Danes made sure that didn't happen again last night.

8.) 29 Jul 2021 14:24:00
So Abada is a waste of money all you need to do is double up on him. I despair he was poor last night end off. It happens to the best in the world.

24 Jul 2021 18:42:21
The most concerning thing for me today was not the result shameful as it was but more so Ange body language I spent more time watching him than watching those imposters in hoops jersey that have well and truly shrunk they fit them to a tee Ange looks very much like a man becoming more and more fraustrated with what he is witnessing and the magnitude of the task ahead, can he do it absolutely from what I've seen and heard from him, can he do it without a complete change of direction in the way Desmond runs the club, absolutely not, BR hadn't the stones to call the board out and took the cowards way out and jumped ship, learn from him Ange you will have 95% support from the fans, still 5 % who believe what comes from the boardroom and always will, the times has come to call them out if that's what's needed time to knock their gravy train of the rails, and remember you'll always get work good managers always do, bad board members not so sure about them.

Connolly

1.) 24 Jul 2021 19:11:45
Connolly, if we're still in the same position at the end of the January transfer window then I'll mostly agree with what you said.
I think Ange will be a positive influence and I think McKay will be too once he gets up to speed with the world of football.
Rugby and football are very different games, and I'm not just talking about the shape of the balls. HH.

2.) 24 Jul 2021 19:37:41
It was a sharp reminder of how far we have slumped in two years and it will take a wee while to replace and regroup new players into an efficient and effective unit. Today was a big step-up in pre-season preparation and although we got a doing, it can only add weight to the manager's argument for quality recruitment as soon as possible. Obviously not the best preparation for Midgy-men and Hertz, but we all knew for many months, the mess we were in and what it will take.

3.) 24 Jul 2021 20:08:32
Excellent reply OAB2.

4.) 24 Jul 2021 20:09:53
GK awful, enough said, he needs to go.
Ralston out of his depth today, same with Murray, too inexperienced at this level.
Taylor isn't good enough
Soro for me will play at a higher level in the future he's class, we will definitely make money on him.
Rest of the midfield very steady, outplayed west ham in the middle of the park, quick passing and moving was great.
Eddy needs sold ASAP before his price keeps dropping as he isn't the confident striker we fell in love with.
Second half was a substitute show nothing more, wasn't expecting much, the young defender from Sheffield Wednesday was powerful and he looks like he will come good in the future if he learns and has opportunities.
We all know we are short of first team players and today was the perfect viewing the board needed to get their fingers out and get this sorted before the season starts.
Finally West Ham are no mugs they have great players amongst that team, big money signings, what else do we expect from today? We aren't champions league level by a long shot.

The other side drew with arsenal and played well, didn't look out of place, that's how far we are right now!

My expectations aren't massive for this season however I like the changes being made. 4/ 5 signings of quality then ill start getting title hopes up, until then its a team being slowly built for the future, the distant future.

5.) 24 Jul 2021 20:50:31
Rodgers had the advantage of bringing in his own staff.
Ange hasn’t so far and neither did Ronnie or Lenny second time around.
Are Celtic still in the middle of ADVERTISING 🤦‍♂️ for a head of recruitment position.

28 Feb 2020 12:44:14
Just seeing Copenhagen got the side from Istanbul makes last night even more painful another more than winnable tie really feel it's time to take stock of the so called business model as regards signings, Bayo, Klimmari, shved, soro, Bauar, boligoli, abd hamed (good player) but looking like another compper not one of them available when needed, I know there is time for some of them to come good but rather than fill the squad would rather have one or two that challenged for a place first day.

Connolly

1.) 28 Feb 2020 13:41:48
You could name loads of players that were either bought or brought in on loan, that never made the grade or struggled badly and were a complete waste of time/ money and it far outweighs the successes.
De Vries Gamboa Toljan Hendry Compper Blacket Janko Allen Eboue Benyu McKay-Steven, Musonda Arzani Bayo Shved and then there's Burke and Weah, who NL never really fancied after taking over. Hayes and Bolingoli are seen as last resorts and the two latest January signings have not broken through for whatever reason?
There is real quality in the team as we have seen them at their best, but when a few are injured or struggling for form, we are bereft of class to fill those gaps in key areas.
Every summer we lose at least one top player and we need to stop economizing or making-do with quantity over quality or else?

2.) 28 Feb 2020 14:23:30
As far as I know ( could be wrong) bauer was available for selection. Lennon just left him out the squad and played a CB there instead.

3.) 28 Feb 2020 14:51:54
Bauer was in the Europa league squad.
Shved was the player left out.

4.) 28 Feb 2020 16:57:04
Lenny makes huge mistakes in a few games Cluj and Servco games to name some doesn't have a plan B in a game last night was another I really can't understand why he changed the formation it was reckless at least incompetent at most if his assistant's agree with his formation with those games we are in trouble Yeah we will get 9iar but how much off that was because of Servco imploding rather than us being great?

5.) 28 Feb 2020 17:48:32
Just like the people pre match yesterday, wondering who we would get in the draw for the quarter finals, I think all this talk of nine in a row already being achieved is just asking for trouble, we are only a couple of bad results away from The rangers being right back in it, and he f Lenny keeps picking the wrong team selection, that's what will happen.

6.) 28 Feb 2020 18:03:40
Hindsight is wonderful as plenty fans were happy with the lineup pre kickoff, we have lost at same stage as the rat did for the previous 2 but he never got the stick lennon gets.

{Ed007's Note - Yes he did and don't forget Rodgers also took us into the CL in his first season but he took plenty of stick for the loss to Red Imps and for the drubbings we took in the Group Stages and losing to AEK in the CL qualifiers last season. We went out the EL last season to Valencia who went on to finish 4th in La Liga, not a team that's 9 points behind Midtjylland - who TRIFC beat 7-3 on aggregate 5/6 months ago - in their league}

7.) 28 Feb 2020 22:47:09
Yes that's right rodgers led us to the 3 worst defeats in our history in europe. He also lost to a very average zenit team in last 32,only reason he got to last 32 last time was because rosenborg scored v leipzig to deny them 2nd place. Last season rodgers lost to killlie away, hearts away, hibernian away and sevco before xmas so let's put brendan in perspective eh. He beat dreadful sevco teams and his football was awful to watch with the 25 passes to cross half way line and the pathetic pass out from the back guff. Rodgers signings were wonderful though. commper, musonda, hendry, oboue, gamboa, de vries, izzy, morgan, etc etc we are far better off in terms of points than under him plus he left us via back door and couldn't care less about Celtic unlike lennon.

8.) 28 Feb 2020 22:48:23
Would the rat have beaten lazio home and away? not a chance.

18 Jan 2020 21:42:32
I know there were a couple of poor decisions but over all very pedestrian and predictable the balance just is' there yet, lot of procession but doing very little with it can't help but think the next two weeks of the window will determine if we reach 9 or not, need an injection of quality to push on someone to come straight in not projects, know it's difficult in January to get players ready made and if it means pushing the boat out then so be it,20 years from now people won't remember we had millions in the bank but in 50 years they will remember 10iar .

Connolly

1.) 19 Jan 2020 01:05:42
Connolly, it's a worry if the balance isn't there yet. What needs to happen to find it? They've had a decent break, some have gone, a couple in . where do we draw the line and say we expect better? HH.

2.) 19 Jan 2020 08:31:39
connelly your spot on.3 weeks break and still the same as before. playing players to show they are fit in order to sell them. morgan was 1 example. i hate to say it but we need to adopt the orcs plan. play your best 11 as often as you can and stop squad rotation. build up momentum and push on.

3.) 19 Jan 2020 10:47:58
That's the thing with playing 2 up top you lose balance in midfield especially with injuries ect we didn't have the width so it was hard to break down a packed defence trying to play through them.

20 Aug 2019 17:12:17
Have to say I do feel for Lennon having to select a team for Thursday regardless who he picks someone will be out of position, it really is a shocking state of affairs to have arrived at this outcome, just can't but believe lawwell is prepared to throw Lennon under a bus, losing this tie and going out and then going to grumble dome with this defence is a disaster waiting to happen, one from which Lennon cannot recover if beat.

Connolly

1.) 20 Aug 2019 17:35:37
I think he has got to go with jullien and boli.
Gordon
Elhamd
Jullien
Ajer
Boli
McGregor
Brown
Christie
Forrest
Sinclair
Eduardo.

2.) 20 Aug 2019 17:49:28
No one needs to be played out of position and Lennon threw himself under the bus with his amateurish tactics, team selection and game management.

3.) 20 Aug 2019 18:00:00
It would really would be a statement if a fully fit Jullian doesn't get picked before Ajar and Jozo who are both carrying knocks. The same could be said if Boli doesn't start.
Although we paid £10m for the pair, if they show in training that they are poor players and a waste of money, then we can't play them, they are not going to turn into good players overnight.

4.) 20 Aug 2019 18:06:56
It's Lennon that's created this disaster.

5.) 20 Aug 2019 18:40:56
We don't need to play anyone out of position, if our left back is a weak link then in my view we would still be better playing him there than weakening 2 positions which happened when we played McGregor there against Cluj.
In the previous matches we played Exciting attacking football when we played players in their correct positions, it's only since Lennon started tinkering that things have gone wrong.

6.) 20 Aug 2019 19:02:27
so lenny is to blame for the club down sizeing kev haha.

7.) 20 Aug 2019 19:42:26
Think Lawell creates this disaster Kev, by putting in lennon in the first place without and due diligence . You could tell that by the amount of people that were unhappy with the job going to him in the first place. Both are accountable in my eyes.

8.) 20 Aug 2019 20:32:07
It's Lennon's fault his team selection man management and lack of tactics that's to blame Ultimately the board have to take a large part of the blame for employing him in the first place and for not addressing the problem when it became clear that he is way out of his depth I am sure there is a lot of good managers out there that would jump at the chance to manage our club PL has got a list in his desk I hope he opens the drawer sooner than later.

9.) 20 Aug 2019 21:39:00
I’d have
Gordon
Elhamed
Jullian
Ajar
Boli
Forrest rw
Christie cam
Ntcham cam
Mcgregor cm (captain)
Shved lw
Eddy

I’d take on brown to see game out if we go ahead and tighten the centre mid area
Griffiths and Sinclair to come on to get goals if need be.

Scales one of the better center backs in the league of ireland tends to play mainnly on left of a back three, haas played as wing back but only due to injuries in the rovers squad, at present would place him in the project catagory, almost went to one of the bristol teams couple of years ago but it broke down at last minute reason was never clearly stated. not what's needed at present but worth a punt for the future.

Kev83 sorry mate but you are being taken in by the spin doctors at C. P the reason we have no new R. B is purely down to the asking price, and as for commper over Schar down to Rodgers nonsense again down to money lawwell and Desmond have put in an artificial ceiling of 2 mill tops for new signings, don't you find it lust a little strange that the cheque for lawwells bonus is more than paid out for. All the new signings so far, a lot more transparency needed around just who is signing these player it's very obvious it's not BR and with congleton given a back seat who and why are we filling the squad with loans and bench warmers when come the summer we stand to lose half the team, on a positive note team plated very well last night enjoyed the game.
