Can't wait to see the tic back in action this weekend. These last few weeks have felt far too long. What's everyone's thoughts on team selection?

Cup game, need to go with strongest possible 11. With the plastic pitch I think Jozo will sit out. KT and Eboue to get some minutes from the bench.

I'd go for:
Gordon
Gamboa - Lustig - Sviachenko - Emilio
Brown - Armstrong
Roberts - Christie - Sinclair
Dembele

A would start griff for this one but that's all I'd change. Maybe put a few kids on the bench so they can get a run out if and when we put the game to bed.

2.) 18 Jan 2017 20:30:39
ed do you know if wee kt is fully fit for the weekend?

{Ed007's Note - He should be fit but I'd be surprised if he plays on Albion's plastic pitch.}

3.) 18 Jan 2017 21:29:53
the wee man would have slide tackled on the old black ash pitches ed i don't think a bit of plastic would bother him lol. i was actually thinking the same that they might not risk him on that pitch but you know the wee man he's a tough wee cookie he might tell rodgers he wants to play.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and hopefully an even better new year, I'm sure we all will if we give the sevco a pumping in their own asbestos ridden back yard.
Anyway, I was hoping to get recommendations on where to watch the game in the maspalomas area of Gran Canaria? Cheers.

What's everyone's team for tonight? I'd like to see a balance of experience and fringe players get a game, can't be complacent but also have more important games around the corner.

De Vries (any mistakes here and it's got to be time on the bench)

Gamboa Jozo Erik Izzy
Brown Armstrong
Forrest Rogic Sinclair
Dembele

All going well, get brown, rogic and jozo off with time to spare and get Henderson, oconnell and Christie on.

1.) 21 Sep 2016 16:02:22
Gordon
Gamboa
Jozo
Tierney
Shevvy
Christie
Henderson
Armstrong
Rogic
Miller
Dembele.

2.) 21 Sep 2016 16:14:51
Pretty much as and why you say, but I think we'll start with Toure and Jozo. All going well swap Kolo for O'Connell. I'd like to see Ajer feature and probably Christie also.

3.) 21 Sep 2016 16:42:53
Think we'll definitely play Sinclair DRB. Miller is a shout, I know you keep a keen eye on the youths and rave about him (yes)

4.) 21 Sep 2016 17:21:39
If you are Craig Gordon, dumped from first team, watching devries, and you don't even get picked for the betfred cup - I'd be in training tomorrow picking a fight with everyone then on twitter then talk radio engineering myself a way out asap.

5.) 21 Sep 2016 17:36:11
Think he's the most consistant of the youth's jim. if we don't play them in these games when do they get a chance.

6.) 21 Sep 2016 17:41:19
Fasan
Ralston Simonovic O'connell Isaguirre
Forrest Henderson MacCart/ Rogic Christie
Armstrong
Dembele
I know this will not happen but would love to see Fasan play Simonvic and O'Connell together, MacCart in midfield i know this is off the wall he is strong and powerful a good passer could be an answer for champions league if not let's see if Rogic can run the midfield.

7.) 21 Sep 2016 18:18:13
Fasan

Gamboa jozo o'Connell tierney

Roberts armstrong mcgregor sinclair

Christie

Dembele

Would like to see this but unlikely. Hopefully tho. HH.

8.) 21 Sep 2016 18:36:31
I can't see mc cart making it with us. He isn't good enough.
He is a good player but not good enough fir the team I want.

9.) 21 Sep 2016 18:53:30
I M O there is no chance of seeing either Fasan or Ager playing in this game . I am sure B R hasn't settled between either of his first team goalies so to me he isn't going to waste time bringing a third in for this match .
Ager isn't amongst our top 18 players so he isn't likely to jump in ahead of Henderson, Armstrong Christie and others to give him a game . Brendan seems to have decided that he isn't first team material just yet . Maybe in future, maybe never.

10.) 21 Sep 2016 18:54:03
Personally DRB, although teams like Alloa are inferior opposition to what we face week in, I'd bed players in during domestic games. We can afford the risk. We can win the league playing several youngsters, experimenting etc from time to time. The cups though, I wouldn't throw so much caution to the wind.

11.) 21 Sep 2016 23:31:03
Gordon
Gamboa Jozo O'Connell Izzy
Henderson Armstrong
Roberts Christie Sinclair
Dembele.

The nerves are kicking in now, big game around a week away! One of Europes biggest fixtures. Celtic Vs Barcelona. How do you all see the team line up? I think the only debate is between keeper and Forrest or Roberts. Other than that team picks itself.

Personally, especially against our league opponents this Saturday, bitton/ mcgregor should be discussed. Did anyone else think that brown and bitton together slowed our game down too much and don't offer too many forward passes. Though when CM came on against Aberdeen he changed the game and got going again. Not saying he's the answer but don't think the likes of Christie or Armstrong will get a look in at these games given the lack of playing time lately.

1.) 05 Sep 2016 13:07:17
If we are going for goals and attacking, then leave Bitton out the side. Sorry for repeating myself - but he slows down the game, affects Browns natural game, gives away possession and can't tackle. McGregor is obviously not the perfect answer (as we were looking for better in the window) , but he does a decent job domestically.
Rogic has been very influential and is creating and scoring; while
the fact we have Forrest, Roberts, Sinclair, Griffiths and Dembele etc to shuffle about up front gives us plenty of attacking options.
BR has brought in DeVries and although I have been a big critic of Gordon, for a while, it is a big ask for a new keeper, with an unsettled back line?

2.) 05 Sep 2016 13:33:29
My team would be. gordon, lustig, kolo, Erik, KT, brown mcregregor, Forrest, Sinclair, rogic, griff! Bring gamboa and paddy on in the 2nd half to run at that big clown Wallace! I wouldn't have bitton anywhere near the team, he's been utter Shoite since the season started, far to slow and looks as if he isn't interested! Not saying mcgregor is the answer but for me he's better in there than bitton! Take an early lead and we'll run over the top of this tribute act!

3.) 05 Sep 2016 14:11:29
Agree with wiss except i would start with roberts.

Nothing against forrest overall but a couple decent performances doesn't make up for the last 2 years imo.

Having said that i'm confident with either or as i think we have more than enough to smash em.

4.) 05 Sep 2016 16:49:39
A hope Rodgers isn't thinking of starting gamboa, lustig is a cool head n we might just need as many as possible. The ref whoever it is will be looking for any opportunity to give penalties against us, especially if we score first.

5.) 05 Sep 2016 17:10:42
Don't care about Celtic against Barcelona. Money is in the bank and we are never going to win the champions league , give the young bhoys a run out . The most important game is on Sunday , here we go 10 in a row .

6.) 05 Sep 2016 17:59:27
Saturday.

7.) 05 Sep 2016 20:09:42
Sorry Saturday force of habit can't remember the last time we played rangers old or new on a Saturday , been saying Sunday for the last few days when discussing it .

Was wondering if anyone picked up on Ronny's prematch interview about guidetti. Said something along the lines of, he can't play 3 games in a week, hinting that he could be in line for a start on Thursday. Not sure if I picked it up wrong though?

LG has done everything right recently - working hard, scoring important goals and becoming a lot more mature. JG on the other hand has had a bad run of form, becoming frustrated and trying too hard.

For inter, my head says griffiths gets the nod, but my heart says JG. I can't explain it but I seriously feel a game like this has the ingredients to help him raise his game and put in a real shift.

What does everyone think? Who is a better fit when both players play at the height of their form?

91bhoy

1.) I would play JG and LG…with LG a little bit left and withdrawn…GMS and Forrest won't play and so there may be room for both

I think he will go with Brown Bitton and Johanssen with Johanssen supporting JG up top and then you would have Armstrong and LG in there also

not a lot of width but I think we have to play a little narrower in any case and then let Izzy and Matthews do their thing

2.) I think Guidetti will start in place of Griffiths for his physique as RD seems to be content with the rest of the side and barring injury will play the same midfield 5 as today.
Commons would have been my only addition (in place of GMS), but the game seems to be too soon for him.

3.) There is no room for letting your heart decide who plays . That's just letting the day that's in it take the lead .
I think Griffiths scoring and set up today definitely makes him favourite
I doubt if he plays both as he hasn't done it all season . However I expect Guidetti to get the last 30 mins or so . I think it will be today's team .

4.) 15 Feb 2015 12:36:43
We have a good tall striker on the bench doing nothing, scepovic actually wants to play in a Celtic shirt unlike jg. I say use jg sparingly and get this guy a run in the team. The boys record for his last club was decent do I have no idea why we are still wasting time with jg who is only here untill a better offer comes through. He has had his chance to sign and didn't. Scepovic has everything to make it as a great striker. Tall, quick, decent movement, knows were goal is

5.) For me it has to be Griffiths, Inter have 3 of there usual back 4 either out or really struggling, they are used to Guidetti types & hate pacey centre forwards

Agree with Chris that starting CF gets 60/70 mins

But struggling to understand how Scepovic not getting a sniff with how poor JG has been of late surely he is better designed not only for Europe but also 4-2-3-1

6.) I think the clue as to why Scepovic isn't get a sniff is in his performance at training . When you arn't getting game time, the only chance you have of impressing the manager is during training . I think Scepovic can't be impressing Deila much during training . Griffiths on the otherhand certainly did it in training and since the January break he has shown us all how good a striker he is I think he must start on Thursday.

Think the quicker we get the league wrapped up the quicker we will see these sort of players. Hope to see this team tomorrow:

Gordon
Lustig - O'Connell - Toure - Izzy
Brown - Henderson
Roberts - Armstrong - Christie
Griffiths

Get Sinclair another 30mins and GMS and 2nd half run out. Anyone know why O'Connell has totally disappeared from the team? He done okay considering the pressure of the games at the start of the season.

Sorry if this has been covered but I'm still not grasping this?

If we have JG until May and he can be signed on a contract come janury. Why on earth would we spend cash getting him. Celtic are surely on the case with him everyday and he knows the script. Even if we where to agree a fee with him in jan, a club can still offer a pre contract for him to make a desision.

And if the 3m is a 'development fee', why is it we got Ledley and Matthews through the pre contract agreement without paying this?

Forsters preference would be to move to a club near London. He's not forcing a move but obviously has ambition to play in the premier league now.

I know for a fact Clarke has been spoken to and asked if he'd take the job well before Lennon left. Clarke has been lined up for this for a while, I just don't understand why they're taking so long to get the deal done

Was saying this the other day about rogic. He finds/ sees passes that most others can't, and is definitely what we miss when teams sit in against us. His job is made much easier when Sinclair and Forrest play wide of him though. Forrest stretches the game well and Sinclair/ KT do well to demand a few bodies trying to stop them which give Rogic the space to do his damage. Hope he's back soon and has a good end to the season (not too good that he's attracting too much attention 😂)

Agree griffiths was the man who got us there, and is probably still the best finisher in Scotland. I just think over the last few months, especially in the bigger games, Dembele has stepped up and it's clear Rodgers sees him as the main forward.

For what it's worth, I think Griff is suited to most games we play and is very unfortunate to find MD in the form he was/ is when Leigh got injured

The money might be tempting, but qualification for CL is priority for next season again, and that would be much more realistic with MD on our book than reinvesting his sale on new players that might not settle in as well as moussa has.

I hope we keep him until he at least earns his first cap (which can't be too far away) . Ideal time to sell would be after World Cup imo, where his stock will be at its highest. will we be able to resist until then?

Can tell he's really worked on parts of his game and got there through his own hard work. A lot can be said for other players this year (Brown, Forrest, Lustig, Gordon etc) all players who most fans would liked to have seen be replaced at end of last season. Credit to Rodgers, his man management skill and attention to detail have really improved the squad.
