Ed. what a day! Do you think Rodgers would have stayed until summer if he had been allowed to? Also the way I look upon things is if Lenny guides us over the line and we maybe do the treble again, I think we might be in a Solskjaer type situation. Why do you not fancy him again?

{Ed007's Note - I don't think he would have stayed and I wouldn't have wanted him to. I always felt Neil Lennon stayed a season too long and the final season wasn't good to watch, plus I don't think you should ever go back the way it rarely ends well.
I do think that NL was by far the only possible choice to see us through to the end of the season and I'll back him to the hilt like I do with every Celtic manager but I would like to see us cast our net a bit further in the summer and get a high(ish) level of European coach/manager with some fresh ideas and some savvy in European games.}

If the board really want to come out of this smelling sweet they best give serious consideration to appointing someone in Brendan's league as a coach, with that sort of reputation. Other posters are more clued in than I am about candidates--but its imperative that we send a message with the next hire. This 10 in a row thing is a serious legacy issue; they have the capital. Do the right thing. Lenny is super (and I just know I'll come round to thinking he should stay) but he's not in the same league.

But if Lennon gets us the treble treble, wouldn’t the board go for the normal cheap scake option to appoint Lennon permanently on the cheap and pocket Rodgers compensation package? I wouldn’t put it past them.

It wouldn't surprise me either Leeds Celt. As an interim, Lennon is fine. There probably aren't any managers who have paid as much attention to us or the domestic scene. And what we need right now is a continuity and for the manager to hit the ground running. Somebody who can get a bit fire in the bellies of the players. NL ticks those boxes. Longer term though, it's quite simply a step backwards.

Bang on ed not my choice but read a piece before saying how hard it would be for an outsider to come in now if they failed and stopped the ten so I get it but surely we have to get it right in the summer. I’m at a crossroads just now wee we’re on our way to 10 playing the Celtic way. For me dodgers had finally nailed a system away in Europe he’s def the reason calmac has turned into the player he is now and others have benefited from his coaching. I grew up of stories of the Lisbon lions and winning 9 but at the same time lives through them winning 9 so 10 for me is the holy grail BUT I want to do it by being the best playing the best not just grinding out results the next appointment can’t be Lennon.

Hi again ed, just wondered what you're thoughts are on jokanovic as an outsider coming in? EPL and European experience?

{Ed007's Note - That's a decent shout, Andy. His time at Fulham turned into a bit of a disaster after he got them promoted but it's a huge step-up for players from the Championship to the Pub League and they're still struggling.}
