Could someone explain the work permits scenario, does it have a real impact in us looking in places like South America for up and coming talent? And if so why is it so much harder in Scotland than places like Portugal is it something the sfa could change or would it take the government in Scotland or Westminster?

{Ed002's Note - The individual governments set the WP rules not the football authorities. It is not an imbalance, just a difference.}

Thank God it's not the football authority as the men from Lanarkshire would say NO.

What happens when you appeal it ed?
Seem to remember murdo Macleod being involved with Jason Scotland getting one knocked back years ago.

{Ed007's Note - There's an appeal you can make under the 'exceptional talent/promise' regs but if you know a player won't be granted a work permit you can apply straight away under them to save time, paperwork etc
Under these regs independent parties will explain how the youngster will improve the standard of their area of work (team/league etc) - it was actually Alex McLeish that spoke up for Wanyama as he had tried to sign him for Birmingham I think it was. Basically a case of him saying at his age there wasn't many players in the UK better than Wanyama.}
