I know it may sound a bit over the top but I believe we could be approaching a tipping point with the club . We seem to have failed to improve from a position of strength once again, not only to the frustration of the fans but more worryingly to the manager. We are in a perilous position regarding the champions league and the revenue it brings . At the minute the new fancy led lights may be used against Hamilton, Kilmarnock etc. I appreciate we still have a few weeks til the transfer window but why let complacency creep in if we are prepared to buy the quality players needed to improve. On top of this we have “positive news spun from across the city as all the media outlets are having a love in with the new regime over there. I’m not saying they are a massive threat but where we could have signed two or three quality signings to put them in their place we have let them grab all the headlines. I appreciate most of their players wouldn’t get into our side but they have definitely improved enough that I don’t think they will drop loads of silly points to other teams, which in turn will make us having to be a lot more consistent as we dropped quite a few points last season. I also presume they have one big signing left in them for a forward position which could make a big difference to them. If we don’t take 3 points of the other **** at the weekend you could just imagine the papers saying we have had a bad week and cracks are starting to appear. Why would Lawwell and the rest of the board think that is good planning? This sitting on our hands counting our money, showing good financial reports isn’t going to cut any slack with the fans who want to see the best team possible on the pitch . Reading between the lines we probably paid a bit more for Odsonne than if we had purchased him last season, sometimes if we want a player we can’t always get him for the lowest price possible, if the manager wants someone, if it costs a million more than we value him unfortunately sometimes we have to pay it to get them in the door. Like I said earlier, this could be a big two weeks for us as a club. We may see how far the board want us to go.

I agree Quinn, fact is we are not as strong as everyone makes out. We are not as far ahead as everyone likes to think. We can barely bring in a player never mind beat AEK Athens who have 10 men for 35 minutes, haven’t played a competitive math and we are at home. That match had everything riding on it and it was clear our defence wasn’t good enough. Lustig, he is passed it and that is clear. Hendry, not enough experience at that level. Two positions that everyone has stated for months need strengthened and that is clear. No matter how many players in a certain position you have. There’s still a reason to bring better in.

Brendan has said clearly we aren’t as strong as we were last season so regardless of what every individual fan believes he’s the one watching these guys on a daily basis so if he’s saying that then that’s good enough for me. Where I do think Brendan might have a problem is we cannot keep stock piling players, we badly need to get bodies out the door, guys that have been with us for years now and clearly won’t make the team, Allan, Christie, kouassi, Hayes, comper etc then there’s guys the likes of hendry, jozo, lustig (who has been a great signing for us ) boyata who I believe could be improved on ( just my opinion) I mean boyata £9 million possibly more? I believe most fans would’ve bitten your hand off for half that last summer, I know Brendan rates him or so he keeps saying but my god you’d think he was the best central defender ever to grace the hoops. So far it’s been a very disappointing window for me, if we’re going to persist with the likes of ajer ( who I rate) and hendry etc then get someone in with experience at a good level to help bring these boys on. Sick of hearing about midfielder after midfielder, you’d think we didn’t need strengthened anywhere else on the park.

The only way toget experience is to play in these games but for me Hendry won’t be up to it he looked better against Rosenborg as they played a lot more high balls last night there striker turned him the same way every time. We have no penetration all the passing is predictable going to be a big task over there but it’s 1 that we CAN do. For me Eddy plays better in a 2. The next few games are going to be a character check for us so let’s get behind the team instead of all the negative tripe being spouted.

After getting to sleep on it. The performance for the team was pretty decent. Held the ball well moved about the park well, lacked the end product. But again moussa is our strongest forward and he's out again (something that needs to be looked at) . Midfield was pretty solid but again lacked a defence splitting pass. I said last night Roberts and Armstrong would of been the player who could of changed that last night, we've lost them we now need quality replacements and Yes. I'd of brought Roberts on for either Forrest or rogic.

Is it just me or is sincy predictable, if I was a right back I'd of loved playing against a guy that runs down the wing and then always cuts back on his right foot, he's lost that ability to drive take players on and have that final product. I recon it's a confidence issue but if no improvement in 6 month's he's served his time. Move on.

Defence I seen a lot of noise that only 1 (Tierney) is good enough. Personally Ayer is the only CB I've seen in a decade in the same mold as VVD for us. Boy is young, strong (will get stronger) , fast and can pass, take players on and can head a ball. He's going to be a star in a year or two. Hendry is young he's decent got to get that bit of experience before we'll see the best of him but the two of them were solid the last two European games. Which brings me on to the biggest problem area, poor lustig. Loyal servant but I've seen a sloth move faster than him. His days as a right back are done, he'd be better either in the middle or brought on later in a game when other people's legs have gone. His pace is causing both him and us problems in the game now time to bring someone else in regardless how much cover we have there.

If we make it through I think we need another Right back in for the season, another centre half (yes wip out 8-10million) for someone half decent. And another centre mid of quality would be good someone who offers something different. I'd like to say another left mid as I think both Forrest and Morgan are suffice out right but left needs strength.

What your thoughts?

People think we are good because we are so far ahead domestically in a total joke of a league let's be honest.

In Europe in the last 3 years we have had 3 good results. Man City and Anderlecht. Even 2 of them were draws.
