i was at the game last night and I'm in standing section just up from the green brigade. I love what they bring to the game and can see both sides of the argument when they divide opinion.
As for last night tho the banners were intentional in there meaning. The songbook from the section wasn't all down to them at nearly every opportunity they would get a Celtic song going but the songs were started all over the place and carried through it was reminiscent of the old days in the jungle I think what a lot of people don't recognise is that the green brigade are only a certain amount of people in there and yes tho they are very instrumental in what happens they are not to blame for all that goes on. I struggled to see anyone (rightly or wrongly myself included) who wasn't joining in whenever a song was started. I've spent the last 2 seasons in the section and rarely has that happened.

The solduers song is the irish national anthem so we're clear on that one but there was a few wee sneaky ones thrown in HH.

Agreed Welshboy-it wasn't just the Green Brigade it was spread around the whole stadium. It's all about opnions as they say but I sit right beside them and heard or saw nothing sectarian. If the decision is made to ban the Green Brigade then to nearly quote a song 'If they do they're going to have to ban us all'. Like the old poppy chestnut the political topic is once again likely to divide opinion between us all 'one and all'. I think the Police landrover barricades across the roads and Strathclyde's finest looking and behaving like the PSNI probably set the tone.

im sure Rodgers being of a family of mixed religion and a man proud of the peace of his country will be delighted at being placed next to an IRA man. im not going to be a hypocrite and slate people for singing Republican songs but its 2017. it has to stop at Celtic park. it has nothing to do with Football. im all for people going to a gig for rebels or a sash bash on the other side but it has nothing to do with football. The GB make a good atmosphere that's for sure but they are not bigger than the club. i sit above the SS and sat in it. i have not heard a song the two boys at the front have not started. all that happens is we get fined and then the tickets will go up.

When you don't stop me and my family walking and driving freely around the streets of Airdrie come back and tell me you're offended. I don't think there is anything wrong with the older rebel songs, I was brought up on them, but I thought the banner was unnecessary, everyone on here gets in a fankle if the Israelis or the Syrians or whoever blow up women and children, but the provos were doing it years ago, and I don't think we need to be reminded of it at a football match,

Well said JFP, some people just melt away, We are not and will never be as a Mr Roy Kean said " A Prawn Sandwich Brigade" The Green Brigade is an interegal part of our club, helping us to remember where our founders came from, the reasons why our club was formed, and for me making the issues like Ireland, The occupation of Palestine, human rights in China, etc, etc a focus to a world wide audience. How many plaudits and how much respect have we gained through the endeavors of the Green Brigade, they should be cherished and we should all stand up for them. it would be a shame if we let the moans of knuckldraggers and low life establishment figures get in our way, and if anybody wants a prawn sandwich, they know where they can go,

My op wasn't to start a debate on what's right or wrong it was to highlight that the green brigade can't be taken into account for everything that goes on. Last night proved that it runs deep throughout more than a "minority" of our club as I said myself included. Celtic is and always will be more than just a football club, history and traditions of our club should never be forgotten.

The paramilitary one was a of a gb member

The Rodgers one is one identical to a front page of the Celtic view depicting paddy McCourt "danger genius at work" tho we all know the meaning behind it.

As for the stair blocking that was a joke police were everywhere on the aisles.

Wasn't at the game last night as im on holiday. Id hoped we would have moved on from the IRA patter but by the sounds of it no! We should all be proud of the Irish connection to our club but we're a Scottish team and the provo patter has got to stop. JFP nothing wrong with my historical education. grew up in heart of family mired in middle of the troubles. I like most in this country wish we could move on from the marching neanderthals and the old songs and hatreds. I prefer John lennons take on life "Give peace a chance" and in particular disapointed some sunk to the other sides level sorry if that makes me a panty wetter. If Martin McGuiness and Ian Paisley can find some harmony there is hope.
