Totally left-field post here:

Director of Football role for Ranieri at Parkhead?

He may be ambitious to manage again or maybe not. Iconic status in sync. with our own ethos as outsiders, marginalians, &c. Fabulous ambassador for the whole game. A man, moreover, who can really understand the epoch-making success of the Lisbon Lions. Would Brendan have the maturity to work with someone of this stature: damn straight.

Why would we make ANY changes to the structure of the management team of even the club right now?
Everything about the club is pulling in the one direction and is being very successful
What is the fascination with fixing thing that ain't broke?

I can't see what he would bring to the team that BR can't. What would he be in charge of? At the moment BR pretty much runs the show with very little influence.

Why create a situation when everything seems to be going fine. Is Brendan mature enough? , when has he not been. We don't need Ranieri, and to start making jobs up because you feel sorry for him is not good business. Undermining Brendan, that's basically your idea. poor.

Ranieri did an unbelievable job last season. Really nice guy and the board should have offered him a move upstairs. This guy has brought honour and prestige not to mention a shitpot of cash through merchandise sales, League win cas and current Champions League cash.
Would he add anything to Celtic? I doubt it. Why change (again) what is actually working. Does BR need a Director above him? . I think not.

No thanks. What Leicester did to that man is disgusting. He should have been made an abassador for the club but I still wouldn''t like to see him come to us. Our set up is working absolutely spot on just now. leave it be.

To be honest, if Brendan was to leave us I wouldn't want Ranieri as his replacement.
I know that there is a huge outcry about his sacking but if you look at his career overall I don't think he's been very good.
The season previous to last, Leicester won 7 of their last 9 matches under Nigel Pearson, everything was already in place before Ranieri took over, players, style of play etc. Once teams had worked them out Ranieri couldn't alter the style of play and he made poor buys.
I'm not disputing he is a nice guy, but in my view when you take the emotion out of it the work was already done before he took over and when things started to go wrong he couldn't cope.
At Celtic we have a set up that is working well, I wouldn't want emotion and sympathy for another manager to start to undo al the good work that has been started.

{Ed001's Note - Ranieri was not in charge of recruitment, they lost their head of recruitment to Everton in the summer, which was a big part of the problem as it left their plans in a mess.}

Why are we even talking about this? Let's just enjoy what we have and be thankful for the duration.

What's the old phrase, if it ain't broke don't fix it! Brendan doesn't need someone like ranieri coming in.

Hahaha. Thanks for all the visceral responses. I agree on the whole with all of this. I suppose I was thinking more symbolically, as a big F. U. to the cynical, commercial forces in the game (that in part we benefit from) .

It seems he does want to get stuck back in to management, and I hope he does. His stock must be high. Can't imagine anyone wanting to jump in there after him tho.
