I don't know why everyone is convinced Lennon won't be backed by Lawwell. Last season we spent "£9M" on Eddy and Castagne told the press we bid £8M for him in January but Atalanta blocked the move. Ok, we sh*t the bed with McGinn but that seems like it was more down to arrogance than an unwillingness to spend. We also spent another £4M on Shved and Bayo. He can be extremely frustrating but he won't just refuse to spend any money on players.

My thoughts are that he seems to faff about putting in stupid offers for too long and missing out on players instead of putting in a decent offer and getting the deal done, other clubs identify players and go and sign them, with Peter Lawwell everything turns into a saga, we need to hit the ground running next season by getting our business done and getting the new players integrated as quickly as possible .

Yeah i think Lawwell gets too much bad press, i mean look at how stable a club we are financially with him at the helm. He obviously knows what he is doing better than we do and i certainly think he has the clubs best intrest at heart (i do disagree with some of his decisions though) and we all need to get behind the manager now and be as positive as possible. No point giving the press any ammo with being negative about our own club.

Yeah and sold Armstrong for £7m and Dembele for £20m. Think we got another £6m or something for Van Dijk sell on so took in £33m and spent £13m.
We can’t splash any cash as our wage bill is £54m failure to qualify for Champions league cost us £30m if we don’t get there next season how do we pay wage bill?
Thankfully we had decent run in Europa and got about £10m back with prize money for treble about another £4-5m and the £20m profit on player sales gave us a £5-10m profit.
We won’t be getting £27m in player sales this summer unless we sell 2-3 of our best players. If we qualify for Champions league we will be able to afford a couple of top players.
Ntcham can go for £7m IMO to free up more cash, yes we are stable financially but not cash rich unless we make Champions league group stage it will guarantee the 10 if we do this season.

Because that was under Rodgers and not Lennon. Lawwell knew Rodgers held the cards, if he didn’t get the funds or players he wanted he would have plenty of other options. Lennon tried that one already and ended up at Bolton then Hibs. He has already said now he’d love to stay at Celtic for 20 years (because no one else will have him) .

So let’s say Lawwell only gave Lennon £3m to spend, what leverage does Lennon have to change that? Zero.

GGGG if we want the £30m CL we need to give ourselves a chance of making it, no one is advocating bursting the bank but we need to build on successes to keep moving forward our board don’t tend to do that, sometimes you need to speculate to accumulate .

The wage bill will be significantly down this summer though with all the outs we may be trimming about £8-10m off it depending on who else goes/ sold.
