The rumour about the ivory coast striker bayo gathering pace his club are quoting that we've definitely made a bid.

Not to be pessimistic but this Ivorian guy will be a bad signing not an unearthed gem.

Has the hallmarks of amido, bangura, Rasmussen, scepovic.

I was hoping for a player with good pedigree who could handle the pressure and deliver us the goals, thus feels like squad padding which we already have too much of.

Kmax the lad has not even signed and you are comparing him to previous duds, so you must know a lot about this player explain why he will be a bad signing?

I'm looking at the league he's in, the fact he is unknown and some info on where he's been prior to Slovakia. Doesn't make great reading which is similar to the failed gambles in the past.

If you think back to the previous decent strikers we've had they either come from a big club or scored goals in a competitive league. The gambles tend to more miss than hit which is why I'd rather a more seasoned player, not one loan and ankther £2mill gamble.

{Ed007's Note - Gambles like Scott McDonald, Gary Hooper, Griffiths and Dembele, none of whom came from big clubs in competitive leagues? Would you prefer more seasoned signings like Colin Kazim-Richards or Carlton Cole that played for 'big' clubs in competitive leagues?}

Did Lubo not say he would score for fun in Scotland or did I dream that?

Hooper scored 30 goals in the championship, surely a very competitive league, dembele 20 in the same at 19 and we basically mugged the English teams on a loophole to get him, Mcdonald and griff (not a poor record at wolves either) were proven in our league. Cole and Richards had poor goal scoring records.

My point is that we have a track record of these types of signings, if we get 20mill in for dembele we need to reinvest at a minimum half that to replace it.

I take benkovic as an example, we could've got him for 13mill n easily made that back but our policy has been compper and hendry on the cheap which has proved a disaster rather than invest in the quality we need.

For me, the players the manager wants, the scouting we do and the ambition of the club are out of sync otherwise we'd identify the player, pay the money and move forward. Appreciate we shouldn't be held to ransom and there are negotiations but for me this feels a bit familiar.

You forgot to mention Lubo Ed.

{Ed007's Note - It was probably the shock of someone saying the Championship in England is a very competitive league.}

My point is we should aim higher. All for giving guys a chance but this is a huge jump in expectation and a gamble. Hope I'm wrong.
