Celtic park did not crumble when King Kenny left for pastures new or when King Billy McNeill retired and lately when Henke called time on his hoops career and it certainly won't if any of our current squad move on. I'm not saying this in any bitterness towards Stuart Armstrong, Tom Rogic or wee Paddy, but if you see your future elsewhere then thanks for your service and good luck for the future.

When your down there in the land of plenty tell Gary Hooper and big Fraser Foster we were asking for them. Grass might be richer but certainly not greener down there.

Brilliantly put Pat. No one is bigger than the club.

Agreed, but. You cannot fault anyone for chasing cash, it's a short earning span so anyone would, far less guys who were not Celtic fans as kids. Some put contentment and a settled family life before cash.

As long as someone does their job to 100% in our shirt i wish them luck.

Remember the highest paid players at Celtic are earning more money than the lowest paid players in the EPL . In a recent survey the average wage in the EPL was given at £20,000 per week.

Average weekly wage in epl is £50000.

With some getting upward of two hundred thousand and more getting upward of one hundred thousand and many more getting upward of fifty thousand, there must be some on really low wages for a footballer for the average to be twenty thousand.

{Ed007's Note - I remember a couple of years back (under Lennon's time I think) and the average Pub League wage was £28k because I remember thinking we should be able to afford £30k a week for a couple of players that would transform the team. A defender, midfielder and striker in that wage bracket would have been a better gamble than signing players like Amido Balde, Bangura and Pukki and how much money overall did we waste on Boeriggter? Somebody should have got a boot in the haw-maws for that one.}

Amido Balde’s name still gives me the fear, the other players mentioned were poor but he was a different level. Was like when you invite a new boy to fives and soon realise that football wasn’t his sport😂.

Remember a couple of years ago, a West Bromwich Albion player drove on the closing day to London to talks with Harry Rednapp . This player whose name I cannot even start to play was on £7k per week .
If the ave wage is £20k or £40k, some players can be on as little as £10k or less . Scottish players certainly are not entering above average, more likely below.

We can def afford to give 40-50k a week for a starting 11 and bench.

we just choose not to at the moment because we don't need to. The board are happy playing it safe and fair enough.

Makes us look like we need a Rangers challenge though, which we don't as we have made record profits without them.

It's just that the board lack ambition without challenge, but imo we should be setting our own standards and not always playing it so easy.
