Mcnair on way to glasgow ahead of year long loan.

Before anyone starts crying YES it's a loan get over it.

I thought Celtic did reasonably well last night. However very disappointed and disillusioned at lack of signing activity. Really wonder what's going on from a scouting perspective as chasing ex-BR players can't be the only strategy. Bottom line is I think we've done too little too late for champions league though hope I'm wrong. I think BR has made a big difference to effectively the same team but he's only as good as the players at his disposal. Surely with the number of season tickets purchased and obvious commitment of fans more should have been done on recruitment front by now even allowing for fact BR didn't have long to assess what he had, the EUROS delayed progressing targets and fact that we're shopping for players of a quality others are interested in which may have lead to us failing to sign high calibre targets.

Don't understand your post/ point at all Tick. What's to get over - he's hardly a kid, some players have 100 appearances at his age. He was thrown in at Utd when they had nobody else! He played 45 mins at the Euro's with Oliver Norwood (who's available for roughly £1.5 million) playing the holding midfield role before him. He's got a year left on his contract at Utd, they haven't offered him a new one, yet want him out on loan, so they're pretty much letting him go. They're doing similar with Blacket and Wilson, - just because they've played a few games for M Utd doesn't mean they're very good. All through Van Gaal's career he's played kids, - some make it, some don't. The young players at Manchester Utd though aren't as good as the one's he had at Ajax and Barca. Anyway we don't even know if he's coming to Celtic. It's only you that's getting worked up about it.

If it's 4 players our manager wants then for me it's a striker, a proper no 9 who has a bit of experience. A left winger so he can properly play a 433, 442 or a 4231. A sitting midfield player who has his head up, can control a game, - a Paul McStay/ Paul Scholes type, and a goalkeeper. Gordon is awful when it comes to crosses/ coming off his line. I don't know if he's terrified of another knee injury but it's not good enough. He should also have been out quicker for the third goal yesterday. The only time I've seen him come out the box to try and take the ball before the attacker reaches it was against Inter and he fecked that up as well. Well I think it was Inter, I can still see him doing it anyway. For me a goalkeeper and centre halfs should be spending 90 mins screaming and shouting, dragging each other around and clearing out (legally) everything in front of them! Going forward I'd play a back 3 with Sviatchenko as sweeper and Toure and Siminovic on front, or Kolo sweeper and Jozo right and Erik left. Plus a new keeper. For me Paddy McNair isn't a priority.

He's murder when he's to at as a sweeper think it was fenerbahce he came out like a big lassie and made an arsenal of it, and against inter at home he mucked up a simple catch.

Point is fairly obvious I thought but I can make it clearer if you like.
Plenty of folk have been bubbling about loan deals over the last few weeks and mcnair looks like another.
Are you saying your happy with what we have defence wise? If so I'm worried man.
Letting him go, last year of contract whatever it is he can serve a purpose short term over boyata and ambrose with CL qualifiers coming up.
You said the 3 at the back which on a forum looks great but Simo is injured a lot so what's your back up.
Unfortunately I don't choose who we sign or how we sign them but I'm happy for additions to the squad in every position.

Lol where the hell are we getting coin for a Scholes type player.
Your playing too much football manager man.
I'm pretty sure BR knows what needs to be prioritised IF we sign mcnair I'm sure most of us will give him a chance.

In the perfect world tick I would like another centre half, I was hoping Caulker would have been Rodgers' first signing because he's available for around £5 million. The problem is the amount of defenders we have. If we could sell Boyata and Ambrose it would be perfect, but he specifically said he didn't want a big squad, and I'm hoping Siminovic could come good. I hate loan signings unless we have the option to buy, and with McNair I just don't see what the fuss is, for me he looks like a jack of all trades and master of none. In midfield I want a player with similar style as Scholes or McStay. We all know to get either at 20 years old in the modern game you're talking £50 million. In other parts of Europe though you can still get a bargain. Even someone like Johan Cabaye, he only cost Newcastle £3.5 million a few years ago. Or we could even try and get someone in their 30's for a smaller fee.

We don't have any AVAILABLE defenders man. We have an abundance of midfielders in fact too many.
Do we need better quality midfielders 100% but not at this minute.
All clubs bring in loans when certain positions are compromised and we are in that situation.
Toure won't play every week he's 35.
Simo I have no idea what he's like he's hardly played and seems injury prone.
Efe and boyata are worse than useless, belive me it's not just the fans that will say that BR will be fully aware
O'connell is 2 young and needs nurtured and hopefully we have a CB there and that leaves sviatchenko and that's it.
The manager is doing what all good managers do which is starting at the back and the reality is we need players in each position.
For me personally our best chance of CL qualification is at least having players in every position.
Mcnair is possibly a loan so at the end if he's pish we get rid and if not and he works out were in a possible positing to sign IF his contract runs down.
I'm sorry man but I would choose any player over efe and boyata and a CB who's played at one of the biggest clubs in the world with rio and vidic I would rip your arm off for.

I know sort yourself out mate - Sviatchenko, Toure and Siminovic will all be ready in a couple of weeks. If we get through then we'll be stronger for the play-off game! The first thing I said was Rodgers should have bought a centre half the minute he walked in the door, 6 weeks on the situation is different, especially adding Kolo Toure last week. The whole world know we have too many midfielders - they're all attack minded though, we need another sitter. OConnell has surprised me also, I had a go at him recently for not improving enough over the last couple of years, but good on the lad, he's done well. He's not the quickest, but if like Sviatchenko he can get a lot stronger/ powerful he's got the height and positional sense to do well, especially in a back 3. Lustig has also filled in, and we're stuck with Efe and Boyata, we can't fling them out the bloody window.

13.) 31 Jul 2016
31 Jul 2016 19:55:17
I don't know what Man Utd games you're watching either - you'll find McNair was stuck beside the worst central defence in their history. Rojo, Jones, Blackett, even Ashley Young at full back, God help us. Smalling was decent, certainly not in the same world as guys like Pallister or Bruce though.

14.) 31 Jul 2016
31 Jul 2016 19:57:23
Lol whatever man I just don't get it tbh. You seem really annoyed were signing a player on loan which I don't understand. We don't have cash for 5 or 6 million players anymore and that's a fact.
When our defence are fit the CL qualifiers will be over and i'm guessing BR doesn't want to miss the opportunity to qualify surely you can understand that?
Should we tell Roberts to p off because you don't like loans and play forrest who just seems disinterested and instead of mcnair play efe who we are all aware is just terrible.
We're a development club now you need to suck it up dude.

15.) 31 Jul 2016
31 Jul 2016 20:25:38
Are you a closet man u fan? You seem to know everything and anything about em.
I'm not bigging up mcnair as a saviour but I totally understand why we would look for an additional cb ON LOAN when we have so many injuries at that position.
You've contradicted yourself several times now, you said originally we should have signed caulker but now we don't need cover as we have enough?
Now we need a Scholes type player but we have to many attack minded midfielders.
You should try politics you definitely have the right mindset your arguing for the sake of it even though we both have the same agenda.
HH.

It's not purely to do with the loan factor tick. I honestly don't get the hype about McNair, and I've seen him a good few times. He's not overly aggressive or commanding at centre half. He's not a talker. And for me he isn't technical enough for midfield. In the holding role you have to be able to control the game/ pass the ball, or be a real ball winner. He's a Mulgrew type for me, - not brilliant in any position. I only responded to your post because you said don't get excited, or words to that effect. For me it wasn't exciting on any level.

17.) 31 Jul 2016
31 Jul 2016 20:44:30
i thought he only had a year left on contract so would be a free agent at end of loan if he does well hopefully he might want to stay then.

18.) 31 Jul 2016
31 Jul 2016 20:53:28
I don't think most of the players that have been mentioned are actual targets and until we actually sign some one As far as I am concerned it's just good banter but one thing I would want to prefer is if we do get a player in on loans we have a option to have him on a full contact Roberts has done great for us and having one on loan that is enough would not want 4/ 5 on loan that would just cheapen our team IMO.

19.) 31 Jul 2016
31 Jul 2016 20:57:40
At least admit he's better than efe at least give me that lol.

And tbh I'm not excited by him but these days very few of our targets are. looks like he's not coming now anyway so problem solved.

20.) 31 Jul 2016
31 Jul 2016 21:26:43
Can you have 4 or 5 on loan I thought 3 was the limit?

21.) 31 Jul 2016
31 Jul 2016 22:19:41
He's better than Efe Tick. If we do sign another centre half I want it to be a leader, old school type, and I know McNair's the opposite. We don't have enough aggression in the team. Toure is a talker and is quick so hopefully he makes a difference.

Possibly Tic you could be right my point was IMO one loan is ok but to have 2,3,4 at the club is not good unless we can have them at the end of the loan.
