Hi Ed is there genuine interest in the NEC player Santos? Currently working in Holland and everyone I have spoken to rates him very highly and said he will end up in the Premiership if we don't get him.

{Ed007's Note - I've never heard anything about this apart from internet rumours.}

{Ed007's Note - No. I've never thought we would sign a striker in this window unless Ciftci went out on loan. What's the point of signing another striker when we already have 3 fighting for one starting slot?}

Is this not the best time to go for a striker then ed? as we hopefully should win treble with squad we have now . we have the luxury of loaning any player doing well back to the team were buying softening the blow? The big guy Santos had a great season in the jupler leave last season and is doing well this season looks a good player . ut the one who imo is ooki g the part is the az youngster jannsenn seen him a few times now and he looks better everytime.

{Ed007's Note - So you want us to spend millions on a player better than LG and then loan him back to his current club? I wouldn't be happy with that at all and I'd rather wait until the summer and see who's available.}

If it helped secure the player yes . we need every edge we can get over bigger spenders. another 12 goals by the boy jannsenn for example in the second half of the season could push him out of our range . its looking (hopefuly) like we are going to do this with ajar why not others?

{Ed007's Note - Ajer's only 17 and is probably better staying where he is and getting game time. If we're buying a striker for me he needs to be better than Griffiths and if we're paying that kind of money he would need to come straight in to fight for the starting spot between now and CL qualifiers.}

I never explained my reason fully . I keep hearing press reports quoting manager / coaches saying this window is harder as teams of players you are looking at are doing well chasing euro slots etc and are reluctant to sell . this season we are not desperate for a striker in this window but if we could jump the que with a deal like this I'd be happy with that.

I don't think we could afford a striker who's better than Griffiths. Or to rephrase: I don't think we'd spend the money on one. I'd be happy with him as the main striker next season provided we had better support than we do now. I think Ciftci would be worth sticking with as a third choice but I think we could be doing with somebody better to be second choice. I wouldn't have signed Cole at all if I'm honest.
