When Boyata is fit he is a great defender. When he is returning from a lay off he is always a bit dodgy and this seems to be what people remember. He’s been pretty solid for months now. I’d keep him 100%.

Kev sometimes I feel you just post replies for the sake of it. I can’ only think of one mistake he has made recently at any level. If boyata had 4 years on a contract I recon he’s easily a 20m defender. He’s an absolute colossus. Even the very best defenders can have an off moment in a game. We will sorely miss him when he leaves. Luckily Ajer is looking better as the weeks go on. He’s playing like a fires been lit in his loins 🔥.

You could say, if you were of that opinion, that Boyata, by his behaviour, at the time of the game in Greece, is the reason we went out of the champions League, or am I getting mixed up, weren't these pages filled with posters calling him all the names under the sun, for disloyalty and such like, calling for him to train with the kids and never darken the first teams door again, the kind of abuse unheard of, until, well., till just now with Brendan, or maybe I am getting mixed up .

PJ he can pass 5 yards most the time and was badly at fault for hearts goal along with ajer and Bain.
He was also sleeping for more than one of the Valencia goals.
Every time we go into CL people go daft on this page about how bad he is. Gives ball away as much if not more than Craig gordon.

Could it be that these errors have been caused by trying to play the ball out of defence the BR way instead of just hoofing the ball as far away as possible?

I think we should be playing out from the back as much as possible but just stop taking silly risks and have more of a forward motion rather than side ways.

Scott brown played poorly against Valencia. He not good enough either? The type of quality player you want is far beyond celtics budgets or allure. We will never be able to replace Boyata with someone with similar attributes or quality unless it’s a loan. My opinion of course. As I said a boyata with 2-3 years on a contract right now is worth 20 million from Celtic 25-35 in England.

Kev83 I agree it's better to play out from the back but one way to avoid silly mistakes is to hoof it when necessary instead of feeling thaat you have to make a pass especially when the defence is under pressure as it gives them time to regroup.

I would offer Boyata a 4 year contract at £60k a week, then offload, as soon as he signed.
