So that’s Roberts confirmed at Girona.

If it is true that his agent contacted Celtic about a permanent deal then you do wonder what’s going on.

Rumours about Denayer are starting to frighten me as well. Would be such an underwhelming signing.

While I’d have loved to have seen paddy back at us especially on a permanent deal I’m not as concerned at him not coming in, I’m more concerned in us getting our act together and sorting this defence out. Any money, if indeed anymore money is to be spent it must be to sort the centre back and right back positions. These defensive mistakes everyone including Brendan talks about happens time after time, there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest these guys are learning from them so if they can’t learn from them then they need teplaced.

I think the attack is just as much a concern Garry. We're stale. We need a freshness. A player who has the ability to unlock a tight defence and we need somebody better than Forrest. Roberts would answer all of that for me.

We definitely need a creative attacking midfielder.

I think we have options there in Rogic and McGregor, we need defenders and I think we should have signed Steven Caulker and Cedric Kipre.

Rodgers has only signed the following
S Sinclair
Dembele
Edouard
De Vries
J Hendry
M Comperr
S Bain
Lewis Morgan
C Mousonda
J Hayes

Kouassi was a long term target and project
Gamboa was already targeted before BR
50% of signings have been a success, I honestly believe Morgan will be a first team player and more will break through from academy like M Johnstone
We made a mistake with McGinn but life goes on, a couple of defenders in and we will be set for the Treble Treble, let's get behind BR and the team as it's never been as good and the media want us to implode.

16 Aug 2018 21:20:11
Big Denayer would be a great signing. Caulker as a fall back. Sign a right back on loan, with option to buy. We do not need to change forwards, there have been injuries get Dembele and Eddy upfront regularly and boom. We do need a central midfielder and John McGinn would be been perfect, but there are others out there. Morgan will be a cracker once he's settled. Attacking midfielders we have enough.

16 Aug 2018 22:00:14
Caulker and Kipre!? Wheres the ambition?

Agree that we have gone a bit stale attacking wise but think Rodgers recognised that and that's why he started playing 2 up top before the injuries hit. Hope he goes back to that now.

16 Aug 2018 22:57:51
Caulker is better than anything we have, Kipre was proven at SPL level and is young enough to improve, imo he would give Lustig a challenge at rb
We simply cannot spend another 10m on a cd, I could name 5 better CD playing in SPL than what we have currently, from midfield to the front line we are streets ahead.

Are you lot bonkers? 'defense is the problem' 'right back is the problem' 'sack the board' 'we can't defend for toffee' etc etc. Oh wait, let's bring in a winger that hasn't played for a year and an half cause we need to' unlock defences'. FML.

17 Aug 2018 06:30:21
Neil, I don't want to sound hung up on PR, and I have also expressed concerns about his lack of playing time, but I'm not bonkers. Everybody is pointing at the defence (there are problems) but we have issues in attack. How much of the ball did we have against AEK in the first leg? That tie should have been put to bed at home. How many did we score against Hearts? This isn't a knee jerk reaction. We have looked stale since the start of the year. Rogic can't influence a game the way he needs to and struggles to play 90mins. Badly. And unless I see marked improvement this season, that's him done for me. And anybody that thinks Forrest is a good footballer quite simply doesn't know what they are talking about. I think it was Kev 83 put up the other day that Forrest made his 300th appearance. I might just be jealous, but THAT is bonkers. He's becoming some sort of mascot. People talk about a great season last season. For a league winning attacker who played most the season, he scored the same as Imrie and McClean (choke) . That's not great at all.

17 Aug 2018 09:06:05
It was the exact same for the most of last season. We didn’t score nearly enough goals.

Our style of player will often mean we can get caught on the counter, we will concede goals. But 2 goals in 2 legs against Athens is very poor.

James Forrest produces next to nothing 80% of the time. In fact I don’t recall a single chance being created from the right wing in either leg. Patrick roberts would have been a huge improvement.

17 Aug 2018 10:10:00
Jimtim I agree with one half of your post but not the other.
We need more than just defenders we need someone to unlock a defence and rogic doesn't do enough.

But Forrest is a good player. He should be more consistent though.

17 Aug 2018 10:19:59
Great point Andy. Rodgers has never really been a manager to set a team up to be particularly defensively solid. And yes, we leave ourselves open to counters.

17 Aug 2018 14:20:55
Sorry Kev I can't be convinced by him. He just isn't ever going to reach the level initially hoped. I've watched him very closely the past few years and he does more wrong than right. He's no good in tight areas, lacking technically, his decision making is poor, he goes down dead ends, his vision and passing isn't good enough, he struggles to get a cross past a defender (he's alright at winning you a corner) , he doesn't look that comfortable striking a ball and what's up with his arms when he runs? I think his pace flatters to deceive his lack of end product. He upped his game for half of last season, but has been here long enough and is old enough to show a consistent season, yet hasn't. Consistency is key. A broken clock can still be right twice a day.

I wonder if we will sign anyone. I don't think we will get more than £3mill for Boyata now if we can sell him. BR has without doubt slashed his transfer value. He should have said nothing and got rid quietly like Ferguson used to do. Between his spat with the Board re transfers, Boysata and results, i am getting a bit concerned about BR. Shades of Liverpool coming on here. hope I'm wrong but its getting messy.
