Ed any truth in Emilio returning?

{Ed007's Note - He said himself a few weeks ago when he turned down Hibs he didn't want to return to Scotland and that he wants to play for a team based nearer Honduras.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know I thought he would have been MLS bound. Reports in a few papers tonight though - seems too random to be made up, must be something in it at least.

We ain't hibs. His love for our club is up there with most of any overseas player we have ever had.

Direct quote from Emilio in today’s Columbia Deportiva (cental american paper) :

“I am arranging with Celtic to return. I do not have any plans to stay in Central America right now”

Looks like its happening.

Sure I read, when lenny tried to sign him, he would not set foot back in Scotland. Something to do with agents, how he felt blackmailed possible? But seemed adamant he wouldn't be back here .

{Ed007's Note - That's what I had read too, I forgot it said that there was money involved. It seemed pretty clear cut and it was quoting Izzy.}

As much as he loves the club, it’s another cheap move . I think he was a weak link when he was here before he moved abroad . Defensively he’s not great, I appreciate we need cover for kt but is it our scouting that’s poor or us being cheap.

Said the agents were threatening to sue him but maybe it's been sorted out now?

08 Aug 2018 09:17:33
Was our scouting poor when it found edouard ntcham dembele Quinn?

Emilio's departure was a funny one. Normally, we think players might be better of playing regular first team football than sit on Celtic--or any team's--bench. The exception is surely some team in Saudi. Emilio doesn't at all seem avaricious and yet blatantly went there for the money, which leads me to conclude that there must indeed have been some murky swindle involving agents and the like. He's also just about the ideal deputy for KT, and might be content to play a bit part at a club he has obvious affection for where other younger players might not. It wasn't so long ago he represented one of our chief attacking strengths (In that its remarkable the kind of player KT has become . . . coincidence? )

I'd take him back in a minute and through a free car in for the missus.

Although 2nd choice to kt he was still head and shoulders above anything else in Scotland in his pos and it was only a year ago.

No Kev our scouting wasn’t poor when we found the players you mentioned, my point would be is that they couldn’t come up with a new alternative or was the board going for the cheap option? Not every deal is going to work out either Kev so while I agree with you on the players mentioned there is also failures . Again my question would be is it the board going the cheaper route?

08 Aug 2018 11:20:41
What is wrong with the cheap route for a player that will be back up to first choice?
Especially when he knows the club inside out and will fit right in.
He will bring a good amount of experience as well.
Celtic didn't want to lose him in the first place.

Seems like a pointless signing.

If KT is injured or needs rested we could also put McGregor there, or even Calvin miller. Or even stick with a 3-5-2 and play Hayes or Sinclair there.

If KT stays fit he won’t get a game and will be a waste of a wage.

So Andy you'd be happy going up against a Barcelona or a psg with McGregor or Miller as our left back?
Jesus weep.
