Ed do you think there is any truth in the rumour that Brendan wants to sign Ballotelli. Rumour has it that he wants to sign a name that the fans get behind and have a hero much the same as jinky, henky and kenny. what's your view?

{Ed007's Note - I didn't know that was a rumour.}

Agree1 Disagree1

13 Jun 2016 22:09:17
Rodgers said he didn't want to sign Balotelli for Liverpool so why would he want him here.

13 Jun 2016 22:38:05
The fact u mention balotelli in the same sentence as players of that stature means I cannot take that post seriously!

13 Jun 2016 22:56:42
Hero and balotelli in the same sentence? Sorry but there's wiser eating grass

What players has Rodgers signed/ managed that we haven't been linked with. Hopefully were thinking outside the box cause not one of the names mentioned is exciting imo.

13 Jun 2016 23:49:53
He would at least be a big name that some fans crave I wouldn't want him has never improved his footballing ability but with there been a clear out of strikers hopefully there setting things up for a name we can get excited about.

14 Jun 2016 00:37:21
Whoever started the rumour that Celtic are interested in Balotelli should be tested for dementia or other progressive brain disorder.
With the best will in the World Celtic are not in the position to buy a big named player unless u are thinking of something like Peirre Van Ho. or some other multi lettered name .
Hopefully we are able to buy players with more modest names at a moderate price and we sign 3/ 4 reasonably. Good players.

Old bhoy I would take big PVH in a heartbeat

I thought he was class.

14 Jun 2016 10:18:31
Think he might be a bit retired now island celt.

14 Jun 2016 10:32:01
Think he was meaning long name like pvh.

14 Jun 2016 09:39:25
Uve got to laugh reports today say Celtic have put a bid in for a 17 year old striker from Dunfermline? Can this be true ED?

{Ed007's Note - We tried to sign PJ Crossan as a schoolboy and as a full-time youth player and now the 17 year old is out of contract and available for buttons in training compensation we're interested again in trying to get him signed up.}

14 Jun 2016 13:57:04
What's funny though? We all want to see players signed for the first team but we can't take one eye off of young players for the development squad. I wouldn't worry too much about him being our competition for LG.

{Ed007's Note - He must be some player JT if after only being up here a couple of weeks Brendan Rodgers wants to sign him. :=o

14 Jun 2016 15:23:53
Who say that's a Rodgers signing it sounds like a McCart signing.

{Ed007's Note - Whoa you better be careful saying that! Isn't it the manager that's responsible for every signing?}

14 Jun 2016 15:23:08
They're infectious Scottish lower league players Ed you know that. I'm yet to be convinced the changes I wanted for the club have been made. Which is why my uncle has bought my ticket for this forthcoming season. I'll assess things at the end of the window of course though. See how this season goes and then consider taking it back off him.

{Ed007's Note - I'm definitely not buying into the mass hysteria surrounding Rodgers' appointment and as you say a lot of the problems at the Club are still in place. I was giving up both my season tickets but my nephew and his wee mate (or possible boyfriend lol) asked me to keep them and they'd pay as much as they could towards them instead of getting them for nothing like they have been and they'll be paying for their cup tickets etc too.}

14 Jun 2016 15:56:37
I hope the celtic ticket office police aren't reading this post after your blatant disregard for season ticket rules ed😇.

{Ed007's Note - I'll be lucky to get £100 off of both of them - think Beavis and Butthead meet Cheech and Chong sponsored by Buckfast - but I will be taking it off them.}

14 Jun 2016 16:26:24
I would like to think that but as you said he must be some player to have turned Rodgers head in The space of two weeks.

14 Jun 2016 16:08:55
Same here. A new manager does not simply just brush things under the carpet for me.

{Ed007's Note - I feel exactly the same way mate and for the money we're paying Rodgers there must have been better options out there.}

14 Jun 2016 17:20:46
Well that's it Rich. Is it still JP calling the shots? BR has said that he won't work under a DoF/ TD, and he likes to have control in that dept. That is essentially what JP was. Let's just see how things pan out though. My mind is unsure about BR, but I'd at least like to think he hasn't come here thinking signing more players from Scotland will take us to the next level.

14 Jun 2016 19:14:57
JimTim I think that's what the board are hoping for with regards to brushing things under the carpet, I can see them thinking just because we got BR in, the fans won't be looking for much more after that, then they can turn round and say they spent big on a manager. BR won't have much knowledge about players outside the top flight Imo, I don't know much about players outside the top league in Scotland so I don't see BR knowing too much, which suggests to me that JP is still the guy making the decisions with regards to players coming in, I'm hoping we are all wrong and it comes out that BR is genuinely making the decisions on incomings. End of the day it's his career on the line if things go belly up.

14 Jun 2016 21:16:53
Aye defo it's head on the block I just think it's a bit early to judge his players before working with them. There is players out but I think they were going anyway stokes troubles were his doing and the rest well they should never have been signed. Cole and CKR. BR is now left with just griff and cifftic bad spelling to lead the line which after he has a clear look at will c for himself what he makes of that and what we can afford to fill in the blanks. Come Monday when they start training that is when BR and his new team will earn their keep. I believe there will be a gem or too either brought in or brought through.

14 Jun 2016 22:03:29
Hopefully, us stumping up some cash for BR is a signal that we're going to start breaking wage structures and transfer caps for players too.

14 Jun 2016 22:45:24
Prob not Jim Tim PL says we are going to live within our means so their no chance of that.

15 Jun 2016 10:36:15
For me, Rich, it's not so much how much we spend (although I think there's room for a bit more) , it's how we spend it. Living within our means and restructuring the transfer policy aren't mutually exclusive. Don't let Lie-well tell you otherwise.

16 Jun 2016 10:02:47
Well there is now Cole, stokes and CKR wages freed up surely that will help with a wage or two or even dare I say it a quality purchase? Ed do you know how much Celtic have lost on Cole alone especially this agreed release from his contract?

{Ed007's Note - Wasn't Cole on a pay as you play deal?}

16 Jun 2016 16:26:02
Not sure but when they have reported a deal has been struck just wondering what kind of loss we would've had cause it always down to how much surely.

16 Jun 2016 22:29:10
No matter who manages a club the size of Celtic, he would have to have assistance in targeting and agreeing to sign players . Every Manager needs help and the sooner all are singing from the one hymn sheet the better . Maybe B R will find that he doesn't trust John Parks and hopefully if that happens J P will be replaced by someone else who thinks like him.
