Is that 2 strikers or is he sticking to his guns and his dodgy formation?

{Ed007's Note - It was 4-3-3. Rumours about some supporters moaning about playing with 3 DMs, 3 AMs an no striker are as yet unconfirmed but are more than likely true.}

Whats the fascination with 4-4-2? Its 2016 not 1986. How many top teams play a 4-4-2 these days? It only works if you play on the counter and are willing to give up possession like Leicester. If we went into a big european game with that formation we'd get smashed.

{Ed007's Note - I think it's the best formation to use in FIFA and Football Manager.}

I don't have an issue with formation tbh if it's done well but for us to be 1-1 with Ross County at home with 15/20 minutes to go and to stick with 2 CDM's who were both playing terribly and only 1 up top is a shambles.

Here who said anything about 442? All i asked was is that 2 strikers. I personally enjoyed the excitement of the 352 under MON. Ronnys formation has proved to be shady on more than one occasion. Boring to watch, hardly convincing. For me, football is meant to be ebtertainment, goals and attacking football. Am not interested in what we're getting right now. doesn't mean i want a 442 right enough but going by your reasoning, you kust absolutely love the ronny shambles 451?

{Ed007's Note - It was Neil Lennon that played 4-5-1.}

Because 4-2-3-1 is working a treat for us this season 😉🔫 .

{Ed007's Note - People get very confused when you start talking about formations and they are very often misled about formations as they constantly need to adapt and change during a match. Is it really that important where a player stands at kick-off? If Lustig and KT push forward along with Brown are we playing a 2-1-6-1 formation? What if the ACM takes a step forward and is online with LG, have we switched to a 2-1-5-2 then? Who cares where a player stands when the game starts?
There's a guy at Clairefontaine who for maybe 20 years has been studying if and how different formations are applied. He advocates and teaches that certain sides (he cites Barcelona, Chelsea, Ajax and Kashima Antlers) that have achieved varying levels of success have actually now reverted to something between no formation at all and the Metodo approach and that strict formations should be a thing of the past. He wants to see intelligent players that can adapt as the game changes and this is what is being taught to the French kids who are seen as the future of the game in France. The reality is that whilst defending, even these sides will adopt a 3, 4 or 5 at the back with one or two in front. However, going forward these clubs look to 6 or 7 players being entirely flexible in the positions and space they fill - the premise being if they are intelligent players they will naturally work as a unit and make themselves available to constantly open up new options.
Top clubs are looking for players that can be flexible and can adapt - as such, it will be a move away from a player simply being placed "wide left" or whatever.
People who play Football Manager usually fancy themselves as some kind of experts when it comes to talking about formations, avoid them like the plague, I'd rather let Charlie Sheen spit in my mouth than get involved in that conversation.
Most normal football punters lost their understanding when they done away with the 1-11 numbers.}

I just want to entertained. Simple as that. Havent really had that of late, have we?

And i don't get why you continuosly reference football manager. Personally don't play it, but have no problems with those who do ha ha.

{Ed007's Note - It was just a generalisation mate about FM, not aimed at you specifically.}

And 4231 is pretty much a 451 laid out in a different way. You are splitting hairs.

{Ed007's Note - So why is one called 4-2-3-1 and one called 4-5-1? You don't have 5 players across the midfield area in a 4-2-3-1, you have 2 deep lying DM, 3 ACMs and a lone striker. In a 4-5-1 you have 2 wide players to push forward along with 1 or 2 of the CMs. In a 4-2-3-1 you already have the wide players in position along the 3 ACM line. That's what I was meaning by if a player takes a step forward does it change the actual formation? It's all bollocks that people get hung up on.
Before my head explodes here because I'm trying to play Dark Souls 3 on the PS4 inbetween editing all I'm saying is that the system the team plays is far more important than the actual formation. People, me included probably, get too hung up on foramtions and all they really are is where people stand at kick-off.}

I agree, too much emphasis on tactics and formation. What i meant was, each of those contain 5 Mf players. Ha ha.

Anyway, let's just hope we all getvwhat we desire, an entertaining and successful celtic.

Boabie what do you mean by entertained? Are you saying smashing teams 3-0+ each week? How would you feel if we scraped a 1-0 win aganist say Barcelona in european cup final? Football that day was flat and boring. Bet you would be over the moon.

A win is a win.
