Agree0 Disagree2

07 Feb 2016 14:10:10
I can't believe not one youngster is getting a chance, or Allan or Christie. I never see a team that I agree with. Is there not a right back in the under 20s who would benefit from playing today?

{Ed007's Note - I'm surprised Allan's not playing. This match against part-time lower level opponents would have been right up his street and a real test for him after all playing the likes of EK is where he made his name and caught John Pa.. I mean RD's eye.}

07 Feb 2016 14:20:21
Afternoon Ed, I understand that by the looks of it we are playing a 4-4-2, but I'm questioning what Scotty Allan has to do to merit a start, even in a game of this kind? For me I wouldn't have Mulgrew, GMS or James Forest in my 11 today. I would much rather see Christie and Roberts involved today.

{Ed007's Note - RD has picked a team that he thinks will win what has become a very, very important game. He's went with experience to make sure that there is no slip ups. What would have happened if he had filled the team with youngsters and debutants and we had went 1-0 down?
If CFC comfortably win today's game will you be back on to say RD got his team spot on or will you say it's a game we should be winning anyway?}

07 Feb 2016 14:52:56
I didn't say fill the whole team, I stated I would much rather see Christie and Roberts. That would make one debutant, correct me if I'm wrong. I never fully agree with an RD team selection but again that is a matter of opinion. Charlie Mulgrew is returning from injury on a 3G surface, surely that's more of a risk than Scott Allan playing alongside Scott Brown?

{Ed007's Note - Charlie Mulgrew's experience should see him cruise through this match. Scott Allan's experience would have seen him battling against players at the level he's used to playing against.}

07 Feb 2016 15:02:50
No matter who the manager or what the starting line-up - it never pleases everyone. Good to see Gordon, Johansen, Bitton and Armstrong dropped and McGregor was obviously facing the axe, but I think Allen will get a run-out - as long as we put it to bed sharp.
If anything, I would have liked to see the young lad from Man City in the squad, just to have a wee look and it would have been an ideal introduction to the club.

07 Feb 2016 15:15:28
All a matter of opinion Ed. Is that you saying there isn't a difference between the standards of the Championship and the Lowland League?

{Ed007's Note - I don't know, I stopped watching lower league football when Accies got promoted. Can I ask how many games you've seen Scott Allan playing, I mean he's 24 and only played about 100 professional games? Is there any players you've watched in the lower leagues of Scotland this season that you think would improve our team?}

07 Feb 2016 15:40:56
So what your saying is you only watch Scotland's top league? How can you comment on the ability level within any league below this then? I think you might be going away from my point Ed, you mentioned experience not me. In Allans first 5 years as a professional he has played 88 games. Charlie Mulgrew didn't reach this figure until 2009, 7 years after turning professional in 2002 but I'll leave it for you to double check in case you don't believe me. As for players in the lower leagues, we did bring the Championships player of the year in over the summer and I personally feel he has greater ability than a number of the current crop.

{Ed007's Note - So how many times have you seen Scott Allan playing, it's a simple enough question? Has any other player in the lower leagues caught your eye that could improve our squad?
That feeling you have might be indigestion.}

07 Feb 2016 15:55:21
Ed did Scott Allen come from the lower league
U've never mentioned it? Broken record pal.

{Ed007's Note - Who kicked your kennel? Nobody forces you to read the pages.}

07 Feb 2016 16:00:07
Scott Allan play on numerous occasions, hence why I hold the views that I do. Obviously more than you have. I didn't comment on any other player from the lower leagues, I simply asked how you could hold a view without any prior watching. Again your going away from the point I actually made. Are you doubting the ability of players signed from teams of a lower league or position? What about Leigh Griffiths, Allans career has followed a very similar path. He now holds the record of quickest Celtic player to get to 50 goals.

{Ed007's Note - I'd compare him more to Paddy McCourt than LG and Scott Allan has shown me absolutely nothing in a CFC jersey to warrant a starting spot. He also showed how off the pace with top level football he was when he came on against Ajax and cost us a goal. What channel shows Hibs matches?}

07 Feb 2016 16:28:51
I didn't compare them in terms of ability, I compared the situation as to how they came to our club. Your man Charlie Mulgrew was also very off the pace against Ajax from what I remember, another injury if I'm correct? Are you also telling me that all of this starting 11 today warrant a starting spot? The world of the Internet makes everything possible Ed surely you should know this, but due to a friend playing for Hibs my attendance at many games last season. 2-0 up as we speak with absolutely nothing offered going forward. We lack a spark linking our play going forward, I firmly believe Scott Allan can provide this.

{Ed007's Note - The game's certainly lit up since he came on. Dazzling stuff!}

07 Feb 2016 16:49:32
I see I have stumped you Ed. I'll let you off, better fight next time. Although I do feel since side ways Mulgrew was replaced with Allan we look to have had more purpose going forward, ball being moved quicker. We all know one man doesn't make a team though don't we.

Hail Hail Ed.

{Ed007's Note - You've not got me stumped mate.

"We lack a spark linking our play going forward, I firmly believe Scott Allan can provide this."

Did he, aye?
Better luck next time sweetheart, you should stick to watching lower league football. Let us know about any other undiscovered superstars at Morton or Dumbarton, cheers.}

07 Feb 2016 17:27:35
Funnily enough that was probably Allan's worst game (! ) in a Celtic shirt - and that includes the Ajax game.

07 Feb 2016 19:21:35
Don't know about Allans, but it must have been Efe's worst game right from is first misplaced pass.

******************* TEXT DELETED ********************

{Ed007's Note - Both your post was left for me to answer while I was out for my dinner but now I'm not going to waste any more time educating you - it's your loss. Remember and keep us up to date on the lower league superstars though.}

07 Feb 2016 20:07:43
For someone who is always banging on about Europe, am I to assume you missed his game against Juventus?

Efe did fine today. He wasn't any great shakes, and yes we were playing EK but he was up and down the touchline all game. His pace and strength was too much for them in terms of his defensive duties. Yes his crossing was poor but he's not an attacking fullback. It wasn't any worse than Forrest or Allan's.

07 Feb 2016 21:01:48
Efe has made one or two or more mistakes in Europe that turned out very costly, but I have never seen him misplace so many passes or miscontrol the ball so often in one game.

07 Feb 2016 21:25:40
It's not even about today, no one I've even spoken to was surprised at the performance, - we don't expect anything better! I hate those plastic pitches, Efe though, like most of the team are simply average! It's almost as though there is an acceptance now, from fhe board, the manager, and the players that we've found our level! It's terrifying, because I've watched Celtic through the dark days, and we should be in a position of strength at the moment! It's shameful, and the blame has to start at the top, - it is/ was them that make all the decisions, and the kid wearing the Celtic strip in the street could feck it up any more!

07 Feb 2016 21:31:05
Fair enough but that could be because of our opposition and his intent on trying some things he wouldn't normally. A few times he tried to unlock their defence with a single pass - a skillset I wouldn't normally associate with him. That said, they were all at it. LG continuously tried to take on 3,4,5 men and Scott Brown was pirouetting on the edge of their box.

07 Feb 2016 22:28:17
Wish Ronnie had been confident enough to start with Allan and Christie in midfield, (because they are the future) , but I think Ronnie is now frit, or afraid or whatever the word is,

07 Feb 2016 22:16:45
Here ed was it not deila that signed Allan. if he really is as bad as you should we not be questioning deila?

{Ed007's Note - RD first spoke to Scott Allan on the phone the night before he signed.}

07 Feb 2016 22:40:52
That is quite worrying. do u think, since ultimately he is the one being judged by fans, that deila will pleas his case and stand up to his superiors or has he already done so.?

{Ed007's Note - It's not his job to stand up to anyone, he's a coach and shouldn't get involved in things that don't concern him. What people struggle to grasp is that RD isn't a MON type of manager, very few of today's managers/coaches have total control over the footballing side of things. It's not the way modern clubs are ran, Arsene Wegner will be the last of them when he leaves Arsenal in the summer. Man Utd have the same problem we have, too many cooks all cooking different dishes, clubs like Chelsea, Man City, Spurs etc etc the list is long all have people who run that side of things. Liverpool use (or did use until Klopp came in, I'm not sure) a committee to decide transfer strategy, Roman Abramovich has some of the finest minds in football as advisers, advisers he listens to over ANY manager. AVB was sacked by Chelsea after a study of the footballing department found that his training methods weren't up to scratch, BOOM he was out the door.
It's the people above the manager/coach that make the club, Guardiola will go into Man City and everything is in place for a top club, the basics like diet and fitness won't need revamped at City.
Top clubs have the tools in place so that when they change manager/coach there is as little disruption to the club's continuing success. What you're seeing at CFC isn't a result of appointing RD as manager, it's a result of long term neglect to the footballing side. There isn't a manager in England, Spain or Germany that had to look at the player's diet and training regime etc. They had the right idea with Collins and Kennedy
Far too much emphasis was put on the NL chest thumping way of football management, and while it was good for a couple of years it was pretty dire in the bigger picture and there was no forward planning whatsoever, we consistently sold off our better players and replaced them with more and more contrived projects.
Everybody is blaming RD for not qualifying for the CL but the blame doesn't lie solely with him, we've seen what the good times were like under Lawwell and Park, their time has peaked and is now in decline because they dropped the ball keeping NL on and not having any long term plan except to make money and keep PL's bonuses up. The academy and youth set-up was neglected under NL and that's the biggest mistake PL has made, leaving JP to run the football side of things while NL was manager.}

07 Feb 2016 22:49:14
But they were probably texting along time before that, and they were probably friends on facebook for ages.

{Ed007's Note - :=D

08 Feb 2016 00:05:47
I just get the impression that all this diet and fitness thing is a red herring, to cover, excuse all. some of the diar perfomances that we have had to endure since Ronnie became manager, what does it say about the manager of a football team that his first piority is the diet, the first piority, should be maximum performance on the field, diet can be tweeked and changed and encouraged as the season progresses, fitness should be a given, for all Ronnies much vaunted fitness phylosophy, the team does not seem any fitter now than before he came, Lawwell are Park, are used as an excuse by the Ronnie disciples to cover his shortcomings.

{Ed007's Note - The point is it would never have been an issue at any other top club. The media fed the BS and all the sheep lapped it up. I didn't notice the same furore when Warburton came in and done the same as TRIFC.
The diet and fitness thing is just another stick for the RD haters to beat him with. It was only highlighted because of the previous regimes failure in that department, we had young players going out on loan that needed a full preseason in England because of their physical condition and general fitness.
What would you change in a footballer's diet as the season progresses?}
