Hi guys, I usually read a lot of the posts on here from time and really enjoy reading the debates. Anyway, I got told from a source very close to the man himself that Peter Lawell is 100% retiring come the end of the season. I was shocked when he told me, but he has been right about a lot of stories in the past so no reason to doubt him.

Agree2 Disagree7

I doubt it he is a taker, people like pl very rarely give up on a good thing, the club is in this position ( sh! t ) as result of his policies, if he is leaving and your mate is right i have no doubt something bads coming as he and DD are parasites with ther pocket ther only love,

12 Jan 2016 22:54:32
If it is true then nothing will change unfortunately. He'll be replaced by another DD lap dog. Imo he's made a colossal f up of the Ronny D situation and I guess only time will tell if he does depart. For me, John Park should follow PL right out the door. He is living off the Wanyama signing and has given us some of the worst signings in our history. For the Derk and Balde signings alone he should have got let go.

12 Jan 2016 23:38:12
English bhoy have you forgot what dd has done for us.

12 Jan 2016 23:54:57
What a load of nonsense I drink in same pub as PL brother and he doesn't even tell him anything! There's only one thing that he has said recently and that is they need to do something about the fall in attendance. Make of that what you will.

13 Jan 2016 08:23:49
That's sounds about right - the fall in attendance, nothing about what might be contributing to it, nothing about the lack of quality and excitement at games. And of course it goes without saying he won't have mentioned the fans that do spend thousands every year going to games, getting the kids all the latest stuff they demand from the club shop etc etc! No, that sounds like the Peter we all know and love!

13 Jan 2016 09:24:55
Paddy Maguire. Ya I do know what he has done, he took over a club that was financially sound. And has sold anyone that has been half decent, with the money to disappear then plead poverty Dermot Desmond is a parasite he is the second richest man in the UK and is sitting at a club with more potential than man untd in world appeal yet he will not put his hand in his pocket, he takes a wage WHY he surley makes more from interest a month from his personal fortune than what he takes per year from something he claims to love, he will be remembered as the man who held Celtic back, just look at the stadium every home game, I fear for Celtic if these people stay on the same path.

13 Jan 2016 16:03:53
Paddymacguire how could we forget. wait apart from rip heart out of club and tarnish the bunnets legacy, what has he done?

13 Jan 2016 16:52:23
Dermot Desmond has underwritten at least 2 share issues and has put money in to the club to buy his shareholding. The bunnet did a good job but walked away with a massive profit and us in more debt than when he arrived. There's no doubt he has taken a back seat but you say he should go,well tell us this who out there wants to buy us? He owns less than 30% so someone could still mount a buyout but I await your list who want to takeover.

13 Jan 2016 18:04:08
I myself have over 2 thousand pounds in Celtic shares, if ther was a fan base buy out I would gladly give them IN as fan base buy out, the club can not stay in this direction, its going backwards jim1972 , please tell me your not happy with what's been happening at Celtic for the last 8 years.

13 Jan 2016 22:30:14
A fan buyout isn't a viable option as we aren't at a rock bottom price like hearts and motherwell. So again who is going to replace him and the others who run the show?

14 Jan 2016 07:21:40
Well jim1972, we force the buyout, don't renew season books , don't buy merchandise, then when rock bottom price the fan consortium moves in, I know what your next post is, that will hurt Celtic , NEWSFLASH Celtic are being hurt at the moment Jim. We need to do something and be united in moving Celtic forward, if not let's see where we are.

14 Jan 2016 08:38:03
Good luck with your non starter fan takeover bid mate. Personally I'm hoping that with the return of rangers next year (maybe) and recent criticism from terraces and media about Europe and entertainment and dwindling attendances at Celtic park that they might have a reality check and hopefully invest in a better manager, coach and player. I just don't see a willingness for fans to put their own money in to a buy out bearing in mind if you go above 30% you need to make a full takeover offer I think? But have a complete boycott you never know we might get our hands on a club from administration or even liquidation😳

14 Jan 2016 09:34:05
Jim its all just theoretical but then this is what this site is for are views, mine is just a pipe dream hopeing someone will stand up and let Celtics full potential be relised, we have a few men at Celtic with a hell of a lot of money, money that they will never be able to spend in ther lifetime, yet sit on a board at one of the biggest clubs in the world and have no ambitions to move us forward, and no disrespect to ya but your statement on waiting till rangers come back tells me all I need to know about what kind of fan you are, we had the chance to go miles ahead of them cheats but yet the people at the top table at Celtic took the decision to hold back and wait for them to catch up, that says it all about the people that run Celtic the quicker they leave are club by any means the better, but I will say this again your hero Dermot Desmond will go down in history as a failure at Celtic this guy is worth over 1 and a half billion personal fortune and is selling every half decent player on the field we have ever had, but please tell me this Jim why is he ther.

14 Jan 2016 10:13:30
Please enlighten me as to what type of fan I am? I pay my money In season tickets and shares and I'm no fan of dermot Desmond but until someone comes up with a better option he's not going anywhere. As for Rangers the threat of not winning the league might force a change as no other team will win the league from us. Or are you one of the idiots who think Aberdeen might win the league?

14 Jan 2016 10:35:12
It doesn't matter who owns the shares if you're looking for extra money for players, or money in general! We bring in what we bring in! The problem is that what we are bringing in isn't getting spent properly! We know what DD is worth, but your asking him to give us free cash English Bhoy! He sounds like the type where money is his God so I doubt it will happen! I heard from family over in Ireland around 10/ 15 years ago that he really only kept his involvement because one of his kids was obsessed with Celtic. I honestly think he could take it or leave it! Also with just giving us free cash it means he will probably have to keep doing it because it starts a cycle! My mother bought me quite a lot of shares when Fergus bought the club, it was because we all loved the club but she thought it would be something for my future (I was a teenager) but my plan was always just to keep them regardless of the price. I've lost a good few quid, but I don't worry about that! We will never have fortunes to buy top players, but there is no excuse for not having world class facilities (indoor and out) and youth coaches which we don't have. We could/ should have a world class scouting network. We should also have the best manager regardless of the salary because there is only one of him and he can improve the who club, from top to bottom! The knock on effect could mean us being the most organized and the fittest team in Europe. These are the things I blame the board for, especially Lawwell because he comes across as a know all, as we all know though he's deluded! Desmond seems to let him get on with it, which is my biggest problem with him. Bottom line though, and there is absolutely no doubt about this, Dermot Desmond has done much much more than Lawwell for Celtic! He was there with Fergus and Dempsey from the outset, so credit where it's due! Other guys also like Jim Kerr and Michael Haughey put money into the club then also and will have lost out financially so let's call a spade a spade!

14 Jan 2016 14:02:27
Jim1972 1st I'm no idiot but the kind of fan you are I don't know I can only go by what you have posted, but as for season books I have owned mine for over 26 years from the age of 18, and have been traveling to watch my beloved Celtic traveling nearly a thousand miles a match round trip but that doesn't matter as that's my choice and it still gives me that same butterflies every time I step into paradise or any other stadium home or abroad, but even through the cheating years of them horrible cu#ts I have never thought we couldn't win the league, but at Celtic at the moment I see something I ain't seen before ther is no passion at all and its spreading to hardcore fans I never thought would be swayed , and I put the blame completely at the door of DD simple, his job as majority shareholder and director is to put money into Celtic if he didn't want too he is not doing his job, what would happen to you Jim if you didn't do your job, because I know what would happen to me, he has to go and take the other Irish taker's with him, the same guys that put many a signature to man untd cheques to buy players till fergie fell out with them and the were booted out of old Trafford.

14 Jan 2016 14:58:12
English bhoy dd owns 30%roughly which is about £20 million please tell me who is buying him out ? It's more likely we as fans can force policy change by protest not boycott as I don't see mega rich people waiting to invest.

14 Jan 2016 15:40:09
Jim we won't get to know as DD has been approached a few times from undisclosed peaple or consortiums if we go by what are media and people in the background at Celtic park have said, but if he is not willing to sell you can't buy, but I will finish my say on this discussion, I as a Celtic fan have a vision of success for Celtic and if DD and the rest of the board members have any ambitions it will take signing cheque's if not I can't see why they are there, iv enjoyed our split views and will sign off on saying no hard feelings at the end of the day we couldn't be haveing this discussion if we didn't both love Celtic his bless hail hail.

14 Jan 2016 17:11:23
Cheers bud hopefully we all get dermots vision of Celtic in the epl then we can realise our potential.😀
Let's not forget the best thing about Celtic is the fans and we all want the best and a big well done to fans from England Ireland and everywhere who travel to watch us. Hail hail
