Can I ask am I the only one that thinks Mulgrew has had enough chances to show he should not be in any Celtic team?

10 Jul 2015 19:24:27
This should be the starting line up or there abouts for Wednesday! Is VVD carrying a knock or out the door because if neither he needs to gel with boyata

10 Jul 2015 19:26:07
I'd go with janko right back and lustig in middle and mulgrew left back in the dressing room!

10 Jul 2015 20:18:32
Time some accept Ronny likes mulgrew and lustig isn't a centre back and isn't going to be unless about 4 people are injured

10 Jul 2015 21:16:02
Jim 1972…Lustig is as much as a centre back as Chuck-It Mulgrew

10 Jul 2015 21:24:45
When was the last time he played centre back?just because it's where he would prefer to play allegedly doesn't mean he will play there with us.

10 Jul 2015 21:42:32
Charlie will not be in the starting eleven if we still have all the players together. He is no more than a utility player that can fill in for others. Not a bad gig if you can get it! Hail Hail

I think that Mulgrew gives his all for Celtic everytime he plays. Doesn't get the chance to hold down any one position and when he fills in different roles adapts well. To play in multiple positions so consistently is very difficult to do. Easy to complain and blame the fact you get shifted about and asked to fulfill different roles each time you play. He never complains, he never makes excuses, he just gives his all.

Ronny rates him, Strachan rates him so what do they see others dont?

10 Jul 2015 22:51:39
I just can't see what he brings to the club yes I guess he does give his all but sometimes some ones best is FAR from good enough

i guess IT IS good enough for those that matter, IE the coaches, the manager and Pedro (if a new contract is forthcoming); Kwaj makes a fine point too…when you play in so many positions you do become scrutinised (perhaps over scrutinised) and he cannot "master" any one position due to the various roles he is deployed in

{Ed007's Note - You're using other people's opinion instead of your own as an argument against someone expressing their own opinion. So there's no players in football you don't rate?}

10 Jul 2015 23:16:10
Think he is much better in the middle of defence than he is in midfield,that is faint praise but he is a much better player than Roy Aitken was.

Sos bhoy VVD is suspended from the inter Milan game

{Ed007's Note - I forgot about that... Du'h!!!!}

Cheers mate at least some one addressed the biggest thing worth talking about on this thread l!

If we have true ambition then players like Mulgrew, Forest, Ambrose et al need to be punted. It's a cruel game but with Celtic it should be if your not good enough that's just too bad for you. If not, we stay pish and players who cannot step up get a game.

I would keep Charlie as a squad player but would take thirty bob for Ambrose and Forrest.

That's no each, just thirty bob fir the two.

ED,

Do you rate charlie mulgrew relative to Celtic's realisable ambitions and current squad and budget? Would you give him a new deal?

{Ed007's Note - The only thing Mulgrew has going for him is that he can play in a variety of positions but he is only good enough to cover domestically. I would wait until January and offer him a year's extension. He's getting to the age where that's all we should be offering player.}
