The national team will get nowhere with Levein at the helm. Yesterdays
game was rank rotten in comparison to the U21s the other night. Maybe
the SFA are oblivious to the obvious choice for the manager. Mr Billy Stark
springs to mind. He appears to be a very competent manager who gets respect from his players. There never seem to be many call offs in his squad. PJ

Believable10 Unbelievable3

The same strachan who got hounded out of parkhead and before you get on your high horse i am a celtic fan

Agree1 Disagree0

Get harry rednapp in, he gets the lads to play for each other. doesnt matter hes english. he would be good for scotland.

Agree0 Disagree1

You won't get Redknapp north of the M25 and he'd want too much cash. Strachan is the best option unless we want to go foreign.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it just me, or does this thread not make sense?

Billy Stark is suggested at the top, then Strachan is slated?

I think Strachan or Billy Stark would do a better job. Redknapp would be excellent, but i doubt he'd be up for it.
What about Big Joe Jordan?

Agree0 Disagree0

King kenny would be a great scotland manager

I agree with Ed's few on the signings with the season ahead wee as fans were crying out for that bit of quality that would have us off our seats at parkhead, The Henrikson seemed to be something special but wee let that slip, Jordan Rhodes another, wee sat all summer waiting for a signing of real quality, and none was delivered I will not sit and criticise the players wee have brought in until next summer but surely with the names available to us during the window wee could have done better, I mean even Del-Piero yes he has gotten on a bit now but the guy still has quality and champo league experience and just his sheer presence around our players especially young Watt would have helped him with what he could learn from Del-Piero, all i wanted as a fan was that one quality signing that wee where led onto believe by the board and unfortunately it was not made, but anyway wee best enjoy the Champo League and hopefully the Bhoys do well al still be backing them all the way. Hail Hail

Believable7 Unbelievable14

Look at how much Del Piero is getting at Sydney, maybe he was wanting too much with us too?I agree about Henrikson and Roades, they would have been great to watch but in my eyes since we lost the tax cheats then we had to revaluate our spending.Getting to the Champ Lge was a must if we wanted new players,if we didn't then what we had would still have been enough for the league. The most important thing was and is our club survives,i don't want us spending money that could put our club in jeapordy.

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree1 Disagree0

What do you think del Piero would have done for us, about the same as the previous over the hill players we had signed, and cost us a fortune in the process. I think we should trust the board and management bring on our young players.

Agree0 Disagree0

For feck sake give the new signings a chance M8! How do you know they are not 'quality'?

Why wait til summer to criticise them? (you words) Why not do it now before you have even seen them?

You would also gladly spend 50k a week on a 37 year-old as well. Rhodes, an unproven striker at the top level, at 8m was well out of our league.

Anyway, let's enjoy the rest of the season and the CL without any quality!

Agree1 Disagree0

I Understand what your saying Jungle Bhoy with the loss of Rangers the spending would have changed but If this is the players wee are bringing in for the Champions league i still don't see a major improvement, as for the poster asking what would Del-Piero bring experience to the squad alot more than a Striker from the Second Division in Spain who was released from his club, Al wait to next summer to give the players a proper chance to show what they are all about and if they preform well then al hold my hands up and say fair play to the scouting staff again, but as Ed said this Lennon had not even spoken to Lassad or watched him in my opinion he was a panic buy, I wan't the players wee signed to do well don't get me wrong, as I said lets enjoy the champions league and trips to Barca And Lisbon instead of Elgin and Berwick. Hail Hail

Flynny

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll say it again. We are now financially sound, were are the champions, we have just got into the champions league for the first time in years and the shame died and reincarnated in the 3rd division...IF YOU CANT BE HAPPY BEING A CELTIC FAN AT A TIME LIKE THIS THEN YOU NEVER WILL BE!

Stevensee88.

Agree2 Disagree0

Yes we are the Champions, through to the CL and are financially sound. Is this the limit of our expectations? Rangers have been rotten for years, yet they one three leagues in a row. I for one expected better signings in the window. We all know the days of 6M signings are over, but how much did we actually spend? We should have had Rhodes in a long time ago for around 3M to 4M. I would also have liked MacKay Steven and Russell from Dundee Utd. We have signed two Africans who will be away for January in the African Cup of Nations, magic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do we really think, with Celtics scouting network that NL had never seen Lassad? Maybe not his first choice, who knows? But to think NL and his scouting team signed him without seeing him, is a bit disrespectfull to the staff and the great work there doing. Meastro8 {Ed007's Note - NL said himself that the first he had spoken to him was when he flew in for his medical. He was signed without even having a medical, the deal was all done electronically (e-mail, phone and fax). Nobody from CFC had been to watch the player live.}

Its about time the SFA brought in a manager who can recognise good players and play them. We need a manager who has the correct ideas where tactics are concerned, someone who brought great success to a Scottish team who play in Europe. That man my friends is MR GORDON STRACHAN. Kl

Believable17 Unbelievable5

Totally agree with you mate. I have been saying this for a while now to all my mates. Has to be Gordon Strachan. Levein lost my support during the last qualifying campaign....4-6-0 formation?!?!? I really want to got to the England v Scotland game at Wembley in August but if Levein is still there then I will have to resist my urges.

JJ Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we shpuld be more ambisious than that, I would go for Harry Redlnapp and Joe Jordan

JGD

Agree0 Disagree0

In all fairness yes hes the second most sucesfull manager in celtic history (on paper) but he had no grasp of tactics, and that showed clear as day when he went to england and totally failed at everything.

id rather stay away from the days of caldwell passes to mcmanus who hoofs it up the park only for it to be cleared back to caldwell and the process is repeated.

the man for the task is billy stark

Agree0 Disagree0

He scared the SFA off before Smith got the job. He wanted control of everything from the U15 to senior squad and got told to bolt

Huge blow to celtic with sammy being ruled out for a month probably our most important player with his assists and hold up play!

I heard the reason we got another keeper is that Forster ain't happy would like a move to epl or championship he like Celtic and Glasgow but not happy that never gets a chance to play for england . Just what I hear .

Believable3 Unbelievable25

Tambhoy (original )

Agree0 Disagree0

What crap the reason is we must have 3 keepers registered for the champions league and after cervi left we needed another experienced keeper.
So crawl back to sevco's page

Agree0 Disagree0

My prediction is that due to his good form he may well be off next year with a great sell on fee banked,(celtic policy) if he wasn't happy he wouldnt of signed simples.....goreybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Is that why he signed a 4 year contract a month an a half ago aye?

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it not true ed the new keeper didnt get in the champions league squad? bit strange i think bringing him in then? i agree with your views on the lassad signing. i think its trying to be a quick fix for this season at least anyway {Ed007's Note - You're right, he never got in the squad.}

Agree1 Disagree0

2nd comment down, the new keeper we signed isn't even registered in the CL 25. It's the development/ U19's keeper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Forster is good but as long as Joe Hart is fit he hasn't got a chance of playing for engerlund.

Although I get what ed is saying surely those that doubt lassad must give him a chance. We have players who have come from the second tier of English football ( hooper and commons) who have done really well for us so why not the Spanish? Also we have had players with not great goal scoring records at other clubs come and do well. I think miku was brought it to add class and although you think we won't sign him permanently I think he will add quality to the squad for the champions league

Junglenhoy33

Believable11 Unbelievable1

Junglebhoy33,, before the window nl talked of his hopes of 3or4 quality signings and we supposedly made a bid of 3mill for rudvens but come the last day of the window we get a loan striker(who if is crap we are stuck with for a season and if is good is out of our price range)a loan goalie( who isnt in cl squad so why sign him)a freebie( who we could have got at start and then nearly dont get him on time so is he a grasp at straws )and a cb, i like all fans hope they all come good but i dont think this is the quality signings nl and most fans where hoping for and why people think he has been let down by the board,i havent seen any of these players live so i wont or cant say they are good or bad but the cicumstances of their signings apart from ambose just looks like penny pinching cheapest option,,,,deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

FFS the new guys haven't been here long enough to have a good sh!te and they're being written off already ,, ok so they may not be of the calibre some supporters were expectant of but can we at least afford them ample opportunity to prove their worth before condeming them ..........please ?!

Agree0 Disagree0

TBH I was more worried about 3 or 4 1st team players leaving so am quite happy. Would cost a lot to buy guaranteed first team players. Just hope the lads can stay motivated to put on a show for the fans.

HH Shuggy

Agree0 Disagree0

Good ****e,,where have i or anybody said not to give them time or a chance , i wont even condemn them even if they are ****e but i will criticise them the board and nl if i think its warrented, neither i nor you can sign players or pick the team but with forums like this we can give an opinion and vent some frustration ,and long may it continue whether i agree with posts or not ,,,,deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

My point is that the players should be given a chance, after 9/10 games then judge in whether they will be good signings. But people making the argument that these players aren't good enough when no one can say they have ever watched them play is ridiculous
