Hey my fellow hoops fans, as no games for the inter break, was just thinking of just how big of an impact Lennon has made to our club and how he loves and feels it as a part of him. I knew he was the perfect man for the job cause the passion and experience with the club he would make sure the players had that drilled into thier heads. Putting the performance and results aside was just thinking of how much money Lennon has made the club in such a short time. The cl is the obvious and looks certain to reach near 20 mill or plus, add to that the players he has brought in and how hard he has done to get his players in international team which raise the transfers. Just quickly and round decent realistic numbers if we sold a couple of players this year our best two plus ki and other money to the club looks as if it is in the range of 30-45mill. Again it's just a rounded off sum figure(maybe not right) but for him to do this in such little time and possibly in one season is crazy if you think of it.
Forge has really turned our club into what it was many years back and it feels so good to see the club making a lot of noise in the positive way it always has. Now with barca having so many injuries could we yet see a new level of Lennon's master piece it making more history for us in our next cl match? Looks more possible but then again it's barca and might have a better shot if the first team and reserves were injured lol.

Believable14 Unbelievable10

You got it down to a tee mate.
well said mate. .H.

i'm especially looking forward to the prospect of up to 6 of our bhoys facing off on the international stage on friday, with maybe another 4 or 5 playing elsewhere.

keeps getting better!

Believable6 Unbelievable7

I hate International week as we have a full team away (several playing against each other) and invariably getting injured.
We have been without Broony and Matthews for many games so far - and Brown missed the game on Sunday - evidently rested for the Scotland match?
We have just re-gained European respect and we are playing well consistantly at last and personally Celtic are much more important than Clue-less Craig Levein.

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you JJ. times have moved on and internationals no longer hold the pull they once did. certain domestic leagues and the CL offer a higher quality of football. The biggest thing they offer is concern over injuries and the impact to our team as we chase domestic dominance and european progression. The wales game is primed for an injury or 2 due to the type of game that will unfold, I just hope and pray that none of our players are involved. Stevo Dundee

Agree0 Disagree0

A think anyone in the scotland squad would rather play a international game rather than a scottish domestic game anyday, times havent moved that far stevo

Agree0 Disagree0

So playing in a game against wales or in england's case san marino is better than some of the big cl games or super sunday clashes that sky promote? thats before we even consider the top leagues in europe.
ask the players and if being honest these games and wages are far more important. ignore the pc drivel spouted before the internationals. stevo dundee

Agree0 Disagree0

Internationals only hol no value to the selfish fan! For mist players it is still an honour to be considered for their country and are proud to play for their country {Ed007's Note - Players are not keen on playing internationals, CL football is where it's at.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers Ed, voice of reason as always! Stevo Dundee

Agree0 Disagree0

Do not forget we lost john kennedy due to Rnagers doctor making him walk from one side of the pitch to the tunnel thus causing more damage to the injury i have no problem with players wanting to play for scotland but if injured then they do not receive wages from the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who's talking about England and super Sunday? ( because its called super Sunday doesn't make it any better than Saturday) I am talking about Scottish domestic, in particular Celtic ok there 6 cl games to be played but this is for the first time in 4 years? And a first time for a lot of them, so a do think the internationals have been a welcome get away with a better standard of football, except maybe the odd old firm.

Owen Coyle sacked at Bolton. Glad we did not end up with this guy as many were calling for. He does not even look like a manager sitting on the bench in a pair of football shorts shouting through cupped hands like a reserve or a supporter. Lucky escape there methinks.

Believable11 Unbelievable17

Coyle proved himself to be a good manager. He will get another job soon enough. Wouldn't swap him for Lenny though! Martin O'Neill didn't exactly dress like a top flight manager but no-one complained about him!

Joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

What are you gok wans talking about? What does it matter what the manager wears? Look at fat sal 3rd div(not got a clue)and he wears a suit,.,.kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit harsh on the guy. He's a good celtic man. He will get another job soon.

Agree1 Disagree1

Managers often wear the same outfit of the manager who they were closest to as a player. Some like Pulis wear silly hats, some wear tracksuits, Brian Clough first, then MON, and then Lenny and Paul Lambert. I would take the guy wearing football kit above some of these ridiculously garbed managers from the continent, what about the German manager at the Euros, or the Dutch one! What about the Benfica manager! For goodness sake these guys look like they have walked straight out of a metrosexual magazine cover. Perfect teeth, perfect hair a suntan to shame TS. Not to mention the suits worth thousands of bucks with the usual 20K Rolex accessory or similar to finish off the outfit! Owen Coyle is a decent bloke and a decent hard working manger who knows where his roots are. Have a go at OC by all means but if you really want to critisise what managers wear just watch euro sport for an hour or two or a few CL matches. There is plenty more to entertain you there I assure you. Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

First 2 say I wud off took coyle before Lennon anyday but now different story but give the guy a break Bolton what chance u got. Hail hail

@Sopot Celt: one name for you - Guardiola.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats wrong with wearing a suit and theres nothing wrong with wearing a tracksuit or shorts the manager manages nothing to do with style or anything but i would be a fan of the stylish suits myself why not??
Donegal Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Guardiola....He quit after 3 or 4 years as a manager, had a huge budget with most of the worlds best players willing to play for him.The word on the street is he could not hack the pressure. And your point is? PS I am getting a little concerned with the references to mens suits in such a positive way stylish or not! This is a footballing forum or so I thought. Sopot Celt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers fan here i think owen coyle is a decent guy and a good manager i wish him all the best in the future

Agree0 Disagree0

OP here, I never said OC was not a decent honest man. He has had a chairman who has backed him to the hilt both personally and financially (Chairman is the clubs biggest debtor to a tune of over 130 million pounds). I have sat with Bolton supporters who wanted him to do well. Even when things were going bad they wanted to at least see him getting off the bench and directing the players. Did not look or act like the man in charge. Too nice a guy wanting to be one of the boys which is the message which came across to the players and supporters. You look at the successful managers - pushing shouting cajoling the team. All the best done that (regardless of apparell). OC very rarely moved from the dugout {Ed001's Note - you mean like Bob Paisley? He is the greatest manager ever, in my opinion. He was never a shouter.}

Agree0 Disagree0

And Bob Paisley wore....?
Sorry ED but he looked liked a man in charge and there was no doubt to the players on the park who was making decisions {Ed007's Note - Personal appearance has nothing to do with success. If you are worried about what managers' are wearing rather than the results on the park you should stick to watching Gok Wan.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Also ED. The supporters I mix with wanted OC to do well but after 2 years of this they gave up. They saw no direction, no drive and when aftermatch came there was the same old story and mostly defending lost causes. Not personal as O believe OC is a really decent person but not strong enought for EPL.Champonship or SPL.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't get me wrong I hope we have a successful Lenny in charge for a decade plus but should the day come when he needs replaced Owen Coyle has to be up there. His work with Burnley was fantastic. I reckon given his history he'd understand Celtic as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes not strong enough for the Championship? Didnt he just get promoted from it?

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair to the guy, he was unlucky to get relegated last season. Bolton had a lot of key players injured and they struggled because of it. good luck to him anyway!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes he got promoted from the Championship with Burnley then took Bolton back down to it! Anyway, I for one, am glad we did not get him and that's based on what I see and hear. So some of us can agree to disagree.

According to slysports, Kris Commons has been called into Scotland squad.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

09 Oct 2012 19:10:02
if levein says there are 7 players ahead of Commons, why were none of them picked?

Craig Levein....you're a spineless arrogant person

taco

Agree1 Disagree0

Very good point about the 7 players ahead of KC. So where are they? That said, at least Levein is now recognising the talent out there and making peace with Fletcher and bringing in KC says a lot. Dont think he is the right manager for Scotland though

Agree0 Disagree0

Some people are never happy, the boy has been called up on merit so be happy for him and get a grip.

Agree0 Disagree0

KC should have told that wimpy willy where to go. Crawls back for Fletcher and sees an 'on fire' Commons as a last resort.
Also Broony has been hampered by injury and should have been withdrawn as he missed the important Hearts game on Sun.
Be glad when the Internationals are done, hopefully with all players returning fit...

Agree0 Disagree0

You are all forgeting arteta

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm enjoying this ex-OF love-in but being a 'glass-half-empty' type of guy I have to put my five-pen'orth in. Boumsong, Hutton, Cuellar and others were bummed up beyond their abilities by the MSM - in order to generate income for a financially-bereft Rangers. Hutton was touted as the white Cafu but, sadly, he has been found wanting at the higher level and every move he makes is to a lesser club than the one before. Boumsong was a strange one - never generated a single transfer fee until (ex-Rangers manager) Graeme Souness took him from Rangers (who signed him on a Bosman free transfer) to Newcastle for over £8m. This transfer was the subject of an EPL enquiry. He was eventually sold to (relegated to Serie B) Juventus for £3.3m. MON obviously saw enough in Charlie the Horse to trigger (no pun intended) his buy-out clause but the jury is still out on that one.The Rangers centre-back Danny Wilson was also spun as the new (Scottish) Beckenbauer which encouraged Kenny Dalglish to splash over £2m + add-ons for him. Where is he now? Can you blame English clubs for being sceptical about Scottish imports when they have failed to live up to the hype? (By way of exceptions I would say Charlie Adam going to Blackpool for £500k was an absolute snip - maybe Rangers didn't know how to deal with / market a creative midfielder?)

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers fan here most of the players that have left the spl can cut it down south ie jellyfish wee malloney to name a few i think scottish football gets an unfair press in england the standard of football is good in scotland this is so english clubs can get spl or scottish players on the cheap your club proved that in the cl with the win against moscow well played celtic

Agree0 Disagree0

Good team but your absolutely having a gyraffe with big Amo.

Ever remember his first interview for Scottish tv and he was talking about himself in the second person. "Amoroso plays like this", "Amoruso was attracted to Rangers because they are a big club" what a f*nny!

Hate to say it but everyone has left out Naismith n'all.... not sure if that was intentional. Lol ChrisBhoy

Morning - I know the 12 month rolling contract appears to be the new thing these days with managers, however I would like to see the same commitment for Neil Lennon as there has been for Mulgrew, Matthews, Forrest. 3 year contract with a pay rise for the Gaffer should be the boards next move. It is only right his achievements are recognised along with the others. Ian L

Believable15 Unbelievable4

Why are we throwing money away? Lennon doesn't need a new contract. Yes he's doing well, but so he should be. Charlie and Adam is fair enough but Forrest?! Done nothing to deserve a pay rise.

Anton

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this Anton Rogan? Have a day of mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's why Neil Lennon is the manager of Celtic and you are not. Would like to hear his response if some1 says Forrest doesn't deserve an improved contract. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree0

I guess having clubs from epl watch him and keeping taps on forests means nothing eh. They tied him down because he is the biggest prospect to come out of Scotland in the longest time, and a prospect that does contribute and could develop into something special. He is still young and will only get better so you tie down special players for as long as possible.
#2 post, you may not agree or like forest but for you to question that while Lennon has unlocked so many gems and has build a team, which he wants to keep the core of young players together, I can't believe how you don't understand or see why or even question him of what he does as a manager. He has proven he knows what he is doing, for didn't forest help us out in a historical win away from home in cl?

Agree0 Disagree0

Forrest doesn't deserve a contract? You havin a feckin laugh mate, in the last year the boys been unbelievably class, pulled us back at Kilmarnock albeit stokes scored 2 but he,s been by far one of the best. Players like Forrest are hard to come by these days for the right value so I think he should be tied down on improved terms. The amount a money we,ve raked in a don't see why Lennon hasn't been offered a 3 year bumper pay rise contract. The guys worked wonders in the space of 2 year! Get the finger out,

Agree0 Disagree0

On a rolling contract neil will get a pay rise every year if the team keeps improving. all our talented young players will be offered long contracts to ensure we get top money for them if they decide to leave.
