What about Obefemi Martins ed for a target?I heard he was interesting West Brom and valued at £3m.Think he is only about 28 so still a good few years in front of him.

Jungle Bhoy. {Ed007's Note - I've not seen much of him since he left Wolfsburg but he was a good striker a few years back.}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

His official age might be 28 but in reality he is closer to 38. i read an article online recently that stated this was common place in nigerian athletes and this was the reason they performed so well at youth football tournaments

Agree0 Disagree0

He is extremely fast , watched a few games when he was playing, i'm sure its ruban kazan he plays for. he could possibly be used in a bid plus add ons for ki since they had a bid rejected

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember, he's a nigerian 28, so he's probably around about 302...

hi ed what are you hearing about a Glasgow cup to bring back the old firm
FozzY {Ed007's Note - I said weeks ago that this had been suggested by PL.}

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Who would be in the Glasgow Cup if they had one? More than just Celtic & Rankers?

Agree0 Disagree0

Partick thistle and st anthonys ,st francis blackfriars lol who knows
FozzY

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares, we shld have no part of it. this shambles is already going to hit us hard once the new voting system kicks in. As CQN states only 1 team here is the loser.
A piece of me wld luv us to them over by a cricket score but equally I'm now trying to accept there is no them/us.
hope that makes sense. Stevo

ps, thru here in Dundee its looking like fans turning out as requested. REport in tonites paper quoting s/t sales at Utd up loads since decision voted on. Figure of 4k now compared with fraction of that 10 days ago

Agree0 Disagree0

We play enough games in a season without another cup competition in my opinion. It would be of no benefit to us although I suppose it would keep the tv, sponsors, etc. happy.

Skelly

Agree0 Disagree0

Really then Celtic should promote this as much as possible. If newco were drew against us it would help them out financially to play a team from a higher division. All the smaller clubs will be looking to draw us in cups now so if we can help newco in anyway I think we should. Just think about the TV coverage if the Champions were to travel to Govan for a cup-tie, the cameras visit these places for days, talking to locals and small businesses about what it means to be playing against a massive club and how much it means to the area.TV rights for a one off cup match could keep newco ticking over for a couple of seasons. It sounds like a great idea to me and the massive Champions support will give the area and the newco some much needed income, we've all seen the publicity these smaller teams get when they get a draw against the Champions some money is going back into the game at lower levels. {Ed007's Note -

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic fans should be quite clear, nothing wrong in playing the first team in the Glasgow cup, but it wont bring back the old firm. In two weeks time rangers will be liquidated, the old firm is no more it dies with rangers

grout {Ed007's Note - A lot of CFC fans (myself included) stopped using the term Old Firm a long time ago, it is already dead to many people.}

Agree0 Disagree0

The old firm is nomore, however there is a new Glasgow derby to look forward to sometime in the future. maccabhoy88

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I wouldn't want any part of it. The bile was bad enough, but with 1 big game a year against us it would be tragic. Asking for trouble. Also wouldn't want to give some of the Rangers players the chance to kick us aff the park.

Let them play with the wee boys in their own league and only play the big boys when they deserve to. Or when they've being parachuted in unfairly by the powers that be.

Shug

Agree0 Disagree0

There is a presumption Celtic would play Servco 1690. Thistle or any other team may have put them out by then. Also, I suspect Celtic would play the youth team in a cup like that.

Ed007 what do you think of Celtic's pre season this year. Last year we were flying all over the world. At least this time staying 2 weeks in europe, with only the Madrid USA trip spoiling it.
We play 3 German teams of varying standards, which I think will help us
in the qualifying rounds. Then we step up in class with Ajax, Real Madrid then Inter Milan which hopefully will prepare us for Champions League proper.
Also German training facilities are second to none and I read that weather is expected to be 75 % most days, so we will get in proper training in good weather. I also think 2 weeks together will bond players and any new ones coming in. Timalloy {Ed007's Note - I am happy with the overall programme except for the Madrid game in the USA. The Australian tour last summer definitely took it's toll on the squad at the beginning of the season.}

Believable6 Unbelievable2

But we loved it :) Especially when Broonie chimed in in Melbourne. That was some night, singin the GB "Celtic - Celtic" chant and YNWA at kick off. 15 of my family went, my nephew took two mates, an Arsenal supporter and a Victory supporter. They're Celtic supporters now :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember at the start of the 66/67 season, Big Jock took the team to the USA for 5 weeks to bond, look what happened there...

Evening all! Just wondered what everyone thinks about our cb options? We currently have rogne, Wilson ,toshney and mil grew who is also our other lb! I personally feel we need 2 new cb for any chance in Europe! Our defence has been neglected in recent years and surely we must be scouting the next up an coming cb's as well as our attacking options

hi guys shamrock here, do any of you know what the inscription says on the statue of big jock outside paradise. {Ed007's Note - Football without the fans is nothing.}

Believable4 Unbelievable3

The reason i ask is '' the burd'' read an inscription on one of the statues and it had her birth date on it 05/10/1959 she thought it was big jock but obviousy not. thanks ed . or maybe she's just talking pish as usual..shamrock {Ed007's Note - It's not a date that rings a bell off the top of my head mate.....?}

i should also point out that although she talks a load of pish , she has just given me the best present anyone has ever given me.. she has just payed 150 to have our names on a marble slab right outside the front door of paradise , this slab will last long after i am gone . I FEEL SO PROUD MY NAME OUTSIDE THE GREATEST SPORTING ARENA IN THE WORLD. CAN'T WAIT TO GET THE CHANCE TO SEE IT... shamrock

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it also says 'it's not the creed nor colour but the man himself' or somthing like that...andy from oz

Agree0 Disagree0

Best one is inside stadium. Did the tour at Christmas (brilliant). "Celtic jerseys will not shrink to fit inferior players" Big Man himself.

Agree0 Disagree0

Figured it out ed ,, she invented the 1959 part , but she does share the birthday 5th october , the big man was 5/10/22 she is 5/10/59 , so she did see it somewhere on that statue and just added a wee bit in her mind. shamrock {Ed007's Note - Typical woman Shamrock mate, they see and hear what they want.}

Celtic are set to bid £2.7million for Blackburn Rovers striker Ruben Rochina

Believable6 Unbelievable20

Where did you hear this crap.

hail hail

Marco1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we bid for this guy when tony watt has a better scoring record than him and both are of a similar age.

hail hail

Marco1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Rochina's a good player, Id take him.

Quack

Agree0 Disagree0

If taking a Blackburn Striker better bring Goodwillie back to Scotland if he gives assurances he would behave himself.

Agree0 Disagree0

More chance its Goodwillie ... lb

Agree0 Disagree0

Is he not a midfielder? dont need him!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't touch Goodwillie with a barge pole. Assurances he'd behave? Aye right. How does that work? So he says he'll behave so it must be true?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we will be interested in rochina but if we were then I'd have thought John park would be the scout say to nl about him? Brian

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree about Goodwillie. Id take him if at a reduced price from that paid by Blackburn.
Think under proper guidance he'd be a valuable asset.
Spare me the behaving antics, there's a long list of players who werent angels

He was out for a year and scored a hat-trick against Morton on his return.}

Ed I've got two questions. One, can this whole hawk eye be introduced to celtic park this season?and I head on bbc website that blackburn ready to offload Scotland striker David Goodwillie, can we get him? {Ed007's Note - Hawkeye won't be at CP this season. As for Goodwillie I wouldn't be surprised if we were linked with him but I don't know of any interest right now. I said last summer I didn't think it was a good idea for him to join either Glasgow club. I still don't think it would be a good move unless he has matured and settled down.}

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Goodwillie,not good enough,is he better than hooper,stokes,sami,watt?dont think so.If we go for a striker,we need a powerhouse .HH.
