Hi edd love the site but disagree with what you said about lassad that if the zombies had signed him we would be laughing . Just because he came from the second tier of Spanish football dosent make him a bad player who had heard of big Vic or izzy , kayal at the end of the day he is a Celtic player and will wear the green and white hoops let's all get behind the team and the manager hail hail .love the site .
Paddy {Ed007's Note - Lassad doesn't fit into the same category as Wanyama, Izaguirre or Kayal, they were all young players that came here to make their name and will be sold for good profits. Lassad doesn't fit into the group of players that everyone knows CFC are looking to sign, even NL has spoke about this being his targeted market plus Lassad was signed before NL had even spoke to him personally.
Miku will be 28 next August and the buy-out fee agreed is 6 Million Euros, do you think CFC are going to spend that on a player that at 28 will have no sell on value of any note? We have went from signing young hungry players either for low fees or getting in quality Bosmans, all with the sole intention of selling them for profit to rushing about on transfer deadline day, and beyond, to get 26/27 year olds in that.
Does anyone else have an explanation to this change of signing strategy? Why did NL go from talking about Henriksen and £3 million bids for players to scraping about in desperation to get a free agent from the Spanish 2nd division and a loan signing in on deadline day and even beyond?
Free agents are free agents for a reason, look at McFadden? If we had any intention of signing Lassad we could have signed him on a pre-contract in January, without having to wait until after the window closed.}

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Ed Ed Ed Ed Ed chiefy take a calming measure, but you are right in a way. Our Celtic Family business is to now make sue that a player leaves for more than he is worth. Now let me tell you that next to go is Mr Stokes and I am afraid to say that the monies recieved will go towards a Miku / Lassad deal. At the end of the day Vic, Hoops and Beram are all classed as Stars but I am afraid to say they are super profitable "SellingStars".Hail Hail {Ed007's Note - A Lassad deal? He has signed a two year contract and you want him to get more money already? Why not use the Ki money to buy Miku? Oh that's right, it wouldn't have been enough.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Not trying to start something here, but I agree with ed, our last few signing i.e rogne, hooper, izzy, vic, Mathews, Ledley and even our most recent foster are all potentially selling on players, izzy, kayal, hooper all bought in the same season if am right for less than what rangers bought jelvic.

My point is these players bought for peanuts except hooper at in the region of £2.2 million, will be sold on for major profit that's what Celtic do, we are a middle man for people coming from far Europe and moving to the EPL, we hate to believe it but it's true.

So on this matter fully agree with ed and the signing we made, a loan keeper a loan strike, a defender and free agent I think the fans deserved better youthful players that we were targeting.

As I said before this is my opinion not trying to start anything.

Cumby Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Until I see the new boys in action, I won't pass judgement, but I hope it's not a case of NL feeling the pressure to sign just SOMEONE. I know little to nothing about running a football team, but isn't there something to be said for adding a bit of experience to a young team such as ours. Some of our boys are guilty, for example, or letting their heads drop when we fall behind. A bit of experience, cooler heads, will help to teach them how to handle that. {Ed007's Note - Look at the experienced players that left the club, they had played for the club, knew what it was all about and had played in Europe last season. The squad we had last Thursday was ample to win on the domestic front so we should be looking to improve for playing in the CL, Miku has played 7 European ties and scored 0 goals, Lassad has never played a European tie in his career. The Spanish 2nd Division does not set you up for making a European (at the top level) debut. I really do hope we have uncovered another couple of gems but I honestly can't see it, I would rather have promoted youth players to give them the experience and chance, there is nothing 'new' to get the fans excited.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Lassad hasn't played yet you are saying he isn't good enough give him a chance .hail hail . {Ed007's Note - He has played over 140 games in his career and in 8 years as a professional footballer he has scored over 10 goals ONCE in his career, that was last season and the club still freed him.}

Agree0 Disagree0

He can't be any worse than murphy, or bangura,

Ska bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely we need a mix of experience and youth to make the youth players better. I will wait and see what lassad is all about once he's played a good few games. I still think we signed him as a cheap option as something is going on with stokes. Miku and hooper will probably be the front 2 most of the time with watt and lassad as back up.

Agree0 Disagree0

We needed to buy some older players. Theres no denying that the young palyers that NL has brought in have done well but we've all seen that at times you can tell there young and loose a bit of focus in games which they should be winning or in high pressure game they can crumble

Agree0 Disagree0

I think were no long a middle man for European players looking to get into the EPL we're now a team that focuses on youth with the hope of a sell on. As a business that's a harder and more profitable proposition. Frankly I'm happy we did not buy Rhodes this gives Watt a better chance of getting game time. If our first pick strikers are Hooper , Mika, Watt and Stokes, then why do we want a player that's going to be looking for a start to come in as cover. Lassad will happily be a squad player/bench warmer and come in as cover when needed due to injuries, call ups etc. It's decent business but not great business

Agree0 Disagree0

Ska bhoy, is that wishful thinking or our new signing policy mission statement,,,deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed.....you're an unhappy chappy about the last transfer window. You make some valid points but here's a question.....what do you think are the genuine reasons behind the lack of "appropriate" activity?

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy {Ed007's Note - Penny pinching, lack of ambition and the fact that PL knows the CFC fans will just show a blind faith in anyone he signs Chris. I say he signs because apart from Ambrose I maintain that NL did not want any of the other signings, the deals smack of desperation and agents looking to make money by getting their players deals anywhere. There is no way CFC will spend 6 million Euros on Miku next summer, even if Hooper leaves, he will have no sell on value. So that is the loan fee and his wages all went out of the club with nothing to show for it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi ed
hope u r well
i dont often disagree with u but as they r both now celtic players we should support them no matter what
i had never ever herd of lubo and he turned out ok at 33
As for the board and the transfer budget i totally agree with you a little more should have been spent

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with ed, I feel cfc signed those players just for the sake of signing, and I firmly believe that they were alos signed cause our top targets(if we had any) didn't want to join the hoops, or that we were so slow at moving for them they decided we weren't even an option anymore! PL has let NL down in this window, no CL backing 3 players that don't fit the bill, an to be honest I think murphy has a better svoring record than miko and lassad. We got rid of dead wood and replaced it with more deadwood...and with more injuries on the international break isn't going to help as we didn't bring in the right quality of player...if we were going to spend 6million euros on miku, I'd rather that went toward a fee for jordan rhodes or johnny russell, both proven goalscorers with the later havin some european experience.I didn't want millions spent, just a few bon on decent players....strachan all over again, won trophy after trophy and didn't get backed properly...an people wonder why we haven't been in europe for 4 years...

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree with what your saying ed as we already have the young hungry players here so we need to add a feww older players. lassad is our target man and miku is real quality. the reason why they were the cheap option is like you said yourself we cant go and send 6 million on one player also the deals were completed on deadline day because we had to wait until after we qualified for the champs league something lenny and the club had already said altho i am sure talks started way before deadline day (ambrose said it himself and lenny said it aswell about miku) one last thing henrickson turned us down to play in holland so thats not the clubs fault {Ed007's Note - Why did we need to wait until CL qualification to sign a loan signing and a free agent? And as for NL saying that, he also said he bid £3 million for a player in May and that he wanted to sign Henriksen. Henriksen, his agent and his club got fed up with CFC dragging their heels, that is why he ended up at AZ and for less money than CFC offered. Can I ask how you are sure talks started way before deadline day?
As for the 'we need experience brought in' why did we give so many experienced players a free transfer this summer, perhaps the same reason Lassad was freed. My God he is in the paper flapping his gums about playing against Barcelona reserves and we expect him to do it against their main team?
So by your reckoning if we hadn't got into the CL we would have had to pull out of ongoing talks regarding transfers and look at cheaper option, how cheaper can you get? We couldn't even get a free transfer tied up in time to beat the deadline, Lassad could have been signed on a pre-contract in January, if he was long term target then why wasn't he? If Miku was a long term target why was his agent and team openly saying they had turned down bids from Swansea, Reading and Trazbonspor without mentioning ANY talks with ANY other team?
You are saying CFC can't afford to spend 6 million on one single player, do you expect them to next summer though on Miku? If not then you are agreeing that he is only a stop gap, you can't have it both ways. Apart from Forster how many loan moves we have made have became permanent?
Just because the club says something doesn't make it true, look how that worked out across the city when fans just believed everything the club told them, do you honestly expect NL to come out and say he is disappointed by the quality of signings and they were panic buy?
The fans again have done everything asked of them, NL has done everything asked of him, we have CL football (money), ST money and nearly £10 million incoming transfer fees and cut £92k a week from the wage bill, yet the only fees spent are on Forster and Ambrose. Are you really trying to say that you are happy with that?}

Agree0 Disagree0

So who is running Celtic, whats going on and why? Where is the logic in this as this whole transfer episode does not make sense; If Ed is correct with his take of the situation we really as fans deserve some serious explanation. Has PL lost his mind? Are the board jellyfish ball deficient yes men? What is DD doing while all this is going on? Is DD in fact pulling all the strings or are the board not telling us and him the real truth? Is it a simple case of power going to the Heid?? of person or persons at board level? How does NL put up with it...will we ever know the truth and what will happen in the next windae?? Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at the squad before deadline day, everyone agreed a center half and striker was needed. We got what we needed, and I think most people agree that squad has been improved with the comings and goings. So why all the negative talk about how much, how long and who. Lets just enjoy the champions league with are new improved team led by are young hungary manger. Meastro8

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree with the ed. We have done everything the board asked us to do by buying season tickets and merchandise and CL tickets and they have let us down again.Remember Fletcher leaving Hibs and McCarthy leaving hamilton. Penny pinching cost us then and it will do it again.Spot on as per usual eddy bhoy. Good luck with the leg as well. {Ed007's Note - Thanks very much but I'm not spot on, it's only my opinion on the whole situation. And when you see that we tried to get Garry O'Connor on loan before moving for Lassad tells you even more about what is going on. The embarrassment of O'Connor turning us down TWICE and having to go even lower down the list than him speaks volumes to me.}

Agree0 Disagree0

We had to wait for champ league to see what player we could attract, if we didnt qualify we would struggled to bring anyone in. miku was offered to us a week before deadline day because we were favourites to get champo and getafe needed to clear wages and we jumped at the chance because he is a quality player. lassad maybe a stop gap but he will be 4/5th choice anyway but form what i have heard about him he is a decent target man and will get the job done when needed. there are a number of reason why we drag our heels because maybe waiting for money to come in for various thing or waiting to see what other options we get thats pretty normal. fees would of been paid for mikus loan too. next year we might be able to afford a 6 million player if we do well in europe. 2 two long term targets one quailty striker and a target man only thing i feel we missed was a ki replacement, im happy with our dealings {Ed007's Note - Getafe's finances seem to be another 'reason' they let Miku go on loan. For a club that had to cut back they went out and spent 5.4 million Euros on transfer fees bringing in 7 new players, including £3 million Euros on striker Alvaro Vazquez, who all need their wages paid. For a club that supposedly needed to cut their wage bill they outspent us by quite a bit, wouldn't you agree?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed did we really go for O'Connor? Things then are definitely not right. Maybe its time for the supporters clubs to flex their muscles and ask some prudent questions (no matter how unpalatable the answers may be) on behalf of all the fans. Sopot Celt {Ed007's Note - Yes mate, I actually didn't believe it until today, that's why I never mentioned it before. We tried to get him on loan TWICE on deadline day and he turned us down. That is why the Lassad deal was done so late.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I was always raised to give anyone wearing the hoops a chance and even with this guy that loads of folk seem to be slaughtering that will remain the case. However, the heart sinks to think NL wanted O'Connor and sinks even further that this very average footballer turned him down.

This may be the first window that I think NL has got wrong. Waiting to see if we qualified for CL has evidently not been a good strategy even if folk are saying it made sense to wait. They've hardly splashed out on known quality with the ki money or the cash in waiting from CL. These signing seem to me to be rushed through and like everyone else am hoping these lads can do a turn this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary O'Connor is not Celtic class and his personal life and possible disruptive influence on the club/players especially young players should have been taken into consideration. Then he turns us down! were we offering what he deserves as a wage "peanuts"? If so why cant we operate at a level to attract decent players? It seems the board at least knew his worth. On a related point why is Rogne being mucked around with his new contract? Finally if the reports of hasty and ill thought through signings are correct and the new signings ultimately become a success (Ambrose aside) then its been good fortune, not good decision making. Poor decisions remain poor decisions even if the outcome is favourable and if CFC continue like this in the next window another 10,000 fans will desert the stadium next year as there will be no chance of CL football next season. I had hoped we were making small steps but in the right direction I am now questioning this as it appears the technical experts ie NL and his scouting team are being left out of the loop re decision making regarding footballers! If this is true it is an absolute disgrace particularly as it is generally acknowledged we have the best scout in the UK and one of the best young managers in Europe. If NL is gagged then its up to the fans to speak for him! The main thing we have which holds us together is unity and trust. The seeds of failure are sown long before the effects are seen and if the board lose the trust of the fans they are complicit in eroding the foundations of the club and they should go at the earliest opportunity, after all it is not difficult to balance a budget and say no more expenditure, it is difficult to understand your business and know when and how to invest and that is why these men are on the board is it not? Surely they have skills and insight beyond which mere mortals display otherwise all we would need running CFC would be bean counters.Of course we may simply be returning to the days of an old boys club at board level or be suffering from inflated egos and power going to certain peoples heads and if so God help us. Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its £84 for Adults and £60 for kids with season tickets. I reckon the price is reasonable.

www.celticfc.net/newsstory?item=3051

Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

No was 60 pounds each. i agree price is reasonable but i dont see why i hav to buy 3 match package when i cant take kids to all games.

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO, having a season ticket should mean that seat is yours all season - including cup & european matches, like in Germany. Of course the club should maximise revenue streams but without making the supporters feel they are being milked for their last penny.

I bought the season tickets for my bhoy and I without the old firm games obviously these games have been replaced with Dundee I received a letter from cfc recently asking me if I wanted to purchase these tickets at a cost of £31/£27 for the adult and £17 for the consession amazing to think you can actually get champions league tickets for the likes of Barcelona cheaper which I have purchased I don't think I will be getting tickets for the Dundee game.

Just wondering if anyone knows the cheapest way to travel from Dublin to Glasgow on European nights, I've been told to fly to Newcastle and then get the train up but it doesn't really seem all that practical. If anyone has any recommendations they would be greatly appreciated :) hail hail

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I would just get a Ryanair flight from Dublin to Glasgow. By the time you faff about with a flight to Newcastle and the train, it'll be just as expensive, is not more.... Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

A lot of fans tend to get Ryanair over for about £20 one way to Prestwick then get Aer Lingus back from Glasgow.Supposed to work out cheaper that way.

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fly to Prestwick, £1 train direct to Glasgow with flight ticket. I used to do this, dont know if it's still going.

I'm guessing the cheapest way is to get your water-wings out mate! Direct swim in about an hour and a half if you're a competent swimmer!? :-)

Bus to Belfast mate and ferry across to Stranraer with bus from there to Glasgow.be a long journey buddy but a lot cheaper hh

hello ed. Great site. Totally addicted. What do you know of James McFadden training with us? Was a bit iffy at first thought, now thinking it could be good having him there. Whats the situation?
cheers

paulo {Ed007's Note - I wouldn't like McFadden anywhere near playing for CFC. He has had his chance and he makes Michael Owen look like Superman.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I'd like to see him signed up and making some folks eat humble pie.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he's finished why did he put in a great summer at Motherwell, get an offer, refused it and put McColls nose out of joint. And is now training at Lennoxtown. I trust Lenny to know what he needs. {Ed007's Note - What NL needs or wants and what NL gets are two totally different things. So do you watch much of Motherwell training sessions?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Do u watch much of Motherwell training ed?

**************************************

{Ed007's Note - I don't watch Motherwell training much no, but one of my cousins husbands watches it very, very closely, everyday single day as well. If you can't keep debating something at an adult level without spitting your dummy out this conversation is over.}

Afternoon ED, sorry to hear your wounds have still not healed up, I know it is hard and it gets the better of you at times but keep positive. Overall it has taken me over 4 years to get back some kind of fitness. this year first time in a long time I was able to see my beloved Celtic play live and I am enjoying it. Best advice I can give is keep fighting. LOL
My point is regarding Next Gen games sad to see them get beat by Sporting
but I think they have one of the best youth teams in europe so no disgrace
to get beat by them.
But why was game played at Firhill and not Celtic Park? surely it would benefit boys to play at parkhead. Was it just down to smaller ground makes a better atmosphere? Neil T {Ed007's Note - Thanks Neil, nice to hear you are getting on now. Partick Thistle lost the revenue of renting Firhill out to Glasgow Warriors so needed to replace it. The crowd would probably not make it financially viable for CFC to open CP for the games.

Partick Thistle General Manager Ian Maxwell explains why the club agreed to groundshare with the young Hoops.

He said: “With the Glasgow Warriors leaving us at the end of last season it was important we tried to replace the revenue we’d lost from their departure. A ground share agreement was always an option, but we had to make sure it worked for us.

“The stadium is our biggest asset and it makes sense to maximise any income from it so when Celtic expressed an interest in holding games here it made sense to look at it.

“The deal we have agreed will see Celtic play a mixture of SPL U20 League and their NextGen Series games here at Firhill.

“It is structured in such a way that a split of the receipts from games at Firhill will stay with PTFC.

“With Celtic up against the likes of Sporting Lisbon, Aston Villa and PSV Eindhoven in the NextGen competition it means PTFC fans can not only get to see some of European footballs stars of the future in action they will also be helping the club.”

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Well done Celtic FC helping out PT FC financially.
Are Rankers helping other clubs financially or still plotting boycotts, ticket scams, etc,... To financially cripple other clubs.
Ed, have a read of the embarrassing bodies website, from the tv series. They had a few non healing wounds and sorted it. {Ed007's Note - WOAH!!! There is some nasty looking stuff on there, I'm glad the Mrs doesn't watch the programme.}

Agree0 Disagree0

As usual a post about Celtic turns into a post about Rangers!!

Gavla

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought it turned into a post about embarrassing bodies! And I guess.... An embarrassing football team (Sevco).

Agree1 Disagree0

Gavla, the mentioning of "The Rangers" on here is almost always to give them pelters. Rangers fans seem to be under the illusion that everytime we slag them, by saying we are obsessed with them might make it stop...lol not a chance wingnut, your team will be getting heavily peltered for the next 3 years and beyond. Get used to it.

Supposedly we had a last ditch offer of
1.25m booted out by wisla Krakow
for their israeli playmaker maor

Just wondering if it was definite?
Seen a few videos and he looks the bit
apart tbh and is exactly what we need
Fast skillful and tricky who craves
behind the front 2.
Would go back in for him in January if
We lack that position up until December
What do you guys think?

Is shut and the team is bedded down
What formation and what line up would you
Have if you were Neil Lennon,
I know we haven't really seen the new buoys
But judging by videos and recommenda
I would have this team for the cl at home
I would also point out that we seem a bit
Careless in defence and we have more
Difficult opposition in the group.
