If we sign both, will we sell Ambrose and Boyata then as we have Jozo, Eric and the 2 youngsters that have played.

Does it also spell the end of Mulgrew?

Is duffy actually any good? Haven't seen him before euros.

07 Jul 2016 23:00:36
Decent player mate seen him a couple of times! Think he would add something we've lacked and that's being able to defend set plays! We've missed a physical presence in there lately. not a world beater but I think he would do a job! U think we'll get him or toure over the line ED?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I think there's a better chance of Toure. The Duffy deal would be rushed and I can't see the player doing that. He'll see what's on offer elsewhere.}

07 Jul 2016 23:44:13
Alright/ good I would say DRB. He gets stuck in, and is fairly mobile. That's about all I can say though.

08 Jul 2016 09:38:11
Duffy would show some heart and passion at least which can't be said for any of our CB's except Erik.

08 Jul 2016 13:29:42
Kevbhoy I think you are being harsh on simunovic. The guy played for weeks with a broken bones in his knee.
This that shows plenty heart.

Kev I totally agree about Jozo. People have written him off he had a pretty innocuous injury which he played through the pain barrier when a lot of today's pros would be lying in Ross hall sipping orange juice waiting on their 5th scan. Bones heal better than ligaments I think so let's just wait and see when he's fit. If he is a derk and doesn't ever get fit due to recurring oR new innocuous injury's one after another then he can gtf.

My word of the day; innocuous :)

08 Jul 2016 15:15:21
Sorry guys I never even considered Jozo in that as he's not really played. I was more meaning Efe and Boyata.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Jul 2016 15:22:32
Agreed, I heard from a friend who knows one of Celtics physios. The physio said that Jozo could be another Van Dijk for what he's seen. Never write him off too early!

I've heard the only thing that's stopping him being van dyke is getting his girlfriend pregnant then leaving her and some long black curly hair.

Scott Brown said Jozo and Virgil are the two best CBs he's ever played with. Granted for Hibs, Scotland and even with us he doesn't have a great list to chose from but you could see the calming influence Jozo instantly had. I think there's a good player there long term.

Mulgrew is wet bog roll.
Resigned for a safe wipe.

Agree with most here think jozo looked solid in the games he has played, still young n within him n big eeik will b quality 2gether. Just hope jozo can get fit n stay fit, although fact he kept playing despite an injury, whether he knew or not strikes me as an old fashioned type, you play on when injured. If we can just get a solid consistent partnership in central defence I think our progression in europe' may just be that bit easier, i don't just mean this season I'm thinking longer term. Add to that kt and lustig/ janko. Midfield brown n Johansen Roberts dembelle and rogic or Henderson with Griff up top. That's a good team there with a strong spine, wuld prefer a better keeper than Gordon, also toure would b a decent signing 4 experience, add to that rumours of Joe Allan and my wish list of elynoussi and a striker/ forward, Sergio arauju, ziyech, even soriano, or vincent Jansen have been mentioned. Would even like to see us go 4 Jordan Rhodes, great goal scoring record and he's Scottish, not advocating buying every player that's Scottish but he's shown he can score goals anywhere. Hail hail.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2016 23:10:37
I personally believe that rogic is one of the best players at the club and I'd be very surprised if he isn't a crucial part of BRs plans this year. Problem is we have too many midfielders who haven't had a chance to prove themselves, I'd love to see them in action more often this season (Christie, Allan, Henderson etc. ) . I'm sensing big things to come at paradise this season with so much talent in our team. Just need to make it through that champions league qualification and I believe we may have something special.

07 Jul 2016 15:42:05
Rodgers saying he is working on two signings before the qualifier. I can see one being a centre half obviously, but it will be interesting to see what position the other signing plays.

07 Jul 2016 15:57:31
I'm hoping for Toure and Duffy to both come in. Reckon midfield can wait til next round.

07 Jul 2016 16:51:11
Seems a strange one Daviebhoy that he would bring in two centre halfs but like yourself i have seen the rumours about both players, unless he plans to offload Boyata and Ambrose because when everyone is fit we would be top heavy with centre backs, and Sviatchenko looks a shoe in for one of the centre back berths leaving the rest to fight it out for the other place.

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Jul 2016 17:44:02
Should have four decent cbs at our club at all times.

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Jul 2016 18:00:44
I know we are always wanting players bought in . but in this instance I think toure would be enough as we have Shevvy imo fist choice starter . also the young guys . simo . oconnell mcart. . kellehar. ready to push boyata and efe aside. I'd rather toure as a safety net to start the season on a six month to a year deal. bring in two that's 8 (9 if ajer as stand in or new position for him ) centre halves and imo far too many.

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Jul 2016 18:09:42
I think we need both. By far our biggest weakness under RD was defending set pieces and crosses. A big towering centre back like Duffy or Caulker is a must!

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Jul 2016 18:45:38
That was my point DRB if we signed two centre backs we would have 8 or 9 like you said so that's how i think he might offload Ambrose and Boyata.

Agree1 Disagree1

07 Jul 2016 20:22:53
I would keep Boyata. Clinging on to a hope still he might come good. Simunoviv needs to keep fit and I think we've got a good young CB. Erik is nailed on for a start and Kelleher has looked good whenever I've seen him. Ajer could fill in if beeded, although I'd rather see him at CM. Add the signing of Toure, I just don't think we need Duffy.

Agree1 Disagree1

07 Jul 2016 21:08:39
Wouldn't be too bothered to see Boyata Ambrose and Mulgrew all go if Toure and Duffy came in.

Agree0 Disagree2

07 Jul 2016 23:16:12
Cant see Boyata lasting long under Rodgers. He likes his defenders to be comfortable on the ball, something Boyata is not!

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Jul 2016 17:49:35
lm67 youv goat it wrang mate bhoyata's comfortable oan the baw its when he stauns up n gets aff it he's rubbish

Boyata coming good is as likely as Corbyn getting the backing of the BBC.

07 Jul 2016 15:09:18
Ed, Any truth in Duffy rumours. Apparently br is wanting this deal though before the qualifier.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - We contacted Blackburn late on Tuesday night about Duffy and if the move for him is being brought forward it could mean the Club aren't confident of getting Toure in. Toure was seen as the priority and Duffy would have been brought in later in the window considering the lad's just back from the Euros and his holidays.}

07 Jul 2016 17:45:18
Could it be getting brought forward because there are other teams circling ed007??

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Around Duffy? I know that Sunderland were interested in signing him so perhaps they or someone else has made an approach.}

07 Jul 2016 18:13:57
You think Rogers wants him enough that that could have made celtic step it up?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't think there's any doubt that Rodgers wants him.}

07 Jul 2016 19:55:47
Heard something about Swansea wanting him ED! I know the boys a big celtic fan but will he maybe fancy the EPL? I know he's in his final year but do Blackburn want to sell him mate? What's your thoughts on kolo and toure ED, u think they'll do a job?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not surprised that there's more teams interested and everyone's been waiting on Dufy returning before anything could be done, Crystal Palace have also been in touch with Blackburn who certainly don't want to lose the player for nothing next summer and have offered him a contract extension.}

07 Jul 2016 07:47:53
Any news on kolo ed?

{Ed007's Note - In time for the first Euro qualifiers? I don't know mate.}

07 Jul 2016 13:36:33
I know they all take time but I'd imagine with this deal, given what he was probably on, there's that extra bit of haggling - using bonuses etc as a means of putting an attractive enough looking package together.

From the clubs perspective, we don't need to rush anything by friday. I think he'll be a good short term fix, but not exciting enough to screw ourselves over for. And the amount we spend to get him in is the main concern. From a footballing point of view, we don't need him to beat a side from Gibraltar. The bhoys we already have available at the back you would think should be good enough, not to mention they've actually being playing already.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jul 2016 17:08:59
Jimtim just thinking the same myself, without wanting to sound cocky but we should smash this team with whatever have.
And I'm sure we will.

07 Jul 2016 17:41:01
Toure will be trying to get two years out of us, not just the one, wages won't be an issue, no transfer fee, give him lump in signing on fee to cover any shortfall.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Of course wages will be an issue as Toure will have been offered more wages from other clubs.}

07 Jul 2016 20:26:18
Can only echo what 007 said there kev. If his agent made a few calls he could easily go to China or the UAE, or even a lower BPL team and double what we have to offer. It will all cone down to the money with Toure.

It's not cocky at all IC, anything other than a two legged win would be a disaster.
