Ciftci is to be given the number 7 jersey because RD thinks it would give him that extra sense of responsibility to keep him on the straight and narrow and to get the very best out of him.

If he gets the No7 jersey and Fu?s it up it could be a PR disaster.

Heads or tails because that`s the best odds you could get on this?

Rumours spreading that we have won the race to sign Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid. If this does transpire I can only think it will be good for Celtic. My reasoning is that if he is as good as Real think he is and we give him game time where he returns to Real a mature and improved player then the posibilities of tapping in to Real for other players in the future improves. Let's hope we do get him and he is successful with us.

I have no doubts he'll bring some excitement for us fans. The kid has tekkers. But I just feel somewhat underwhelmed given he's one of the hottest talents on the planet. Because we'll not be keeping him. And unless he plays a big part in carrying us into and through the CL groups do Celtic really benefit? Can only pray he falls in love with the place, gets himself a Scottish lass or something and runs down his contract with Los Blancos and signs for us! But aye, even if just for a season it'll be great to watch a player of his skill and guile in the Hoops.

Seems strange that the report says despite, as thought, Real wanted to loan him in Spain, that it is the player who has convinced Real to loan him to Celtic.

Obviously there is a lot of hype around him but I can't say I've seen a lot of him, but if he comes who would drop out of the side . I'm presuming he's a no 10, so that would mean less game time for commons , gms or Armstrong dependant on Ronnies formation . As he won't be our player , what will we gain out of the deal unless he is a top drawer player . Obvious Ronny knows him well and has been after him at various times but he must offer something completely different from what we already have .

Was reading Jack Harper might not be renewing his contract with Real, I don't know anything about the lad does anyone know if he's a player worth trying to get in.

07 Jul 2015 21:59:56
Martin Odegaard: this guy has a clause in his contract to say he must play & train in the first team @ Real.
He looks a real talent, however, who do we drop to fit him in?
will there be a min number of games we must play him?

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Jul 2015 07:42:00
Stan, can't say i've seen him bud but have read rave reviews about him and admit it has crossed my mind that one day he might be worth a look! No idea if he's a 'tic fan fan and it may be a bit naive but if there's a young player who has spent time wih Real, and could be available for just compenation etc. then he's at least worth a trial in my opinion.

I agree cprs if he comes one of our players won't get a chance can't stop thinking it won't be good for moral

Hearing it looks like odegarrd will be coming to us next season, any news ED?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Benitez didn't want to take the Odegaard on the pre-season tour of Australia and China until Club President Florentino Perez stepped in and over-ruled Benitez after the player's father asked him to intervene.
As I said the other day nothing will be decided on Odegaard until after Madrid's pre-season tour and there's nothing I've heard saying otherwise.}

07 Jul 2015 18:24:35
Just can't see it myself ED! Surely Madrid want him settled in Spain and getting used to la liga? Not playin at Dingwall on a freezin December night lol! I know the boys a talent but I just don't see what the point of this would be! We need a decent striker, not a 16 year old midfielder! Like I said, theres no doubt at all he's a very talented boy.just don't think we need him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The talk was he was being sent to Getafe. I can't see why they would send him here unless it's non-footballing reasons and they want RD to sort him out.}

07 Jul 2015 18:41:39
Yeh I can see him at a mid table la liga team! Just don't see what Madrid have to gain by sending him to the SPL! And like I said,we just don't need him! We've commons johanssen and Armstrong that play in that position! Let's just hope it's more paper talk!

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 19:48:53
They wanted him to stay in the city so he can settle and adapt to La Liga football. I can't really see it being concrete as some of the sources reporting it ain't particularly great and there is other options around Europe, Ajax for example that's better suited to him development wise.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There was talk of him being sent straight to Ajax last summer after he signed with Madrid and I'd imagine the Spaniards are now regretting not finalising it.}

07 Jul 2015 19:52:34
Have you ever seen him play he's a very special talent and will give us something different attacking wise. I personally would love to see him here he would be a nice wee super sub to bring on when we need a goal created or scored

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 21:33:05
I don't think Madrid would send him over here to be a super sub mate lol! They'd want assurances that the boy would be in the startin line up! Can't see it happnin but, just can't see how sending him to the SPL will help him settle in Spain!

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 22:40:01
I think they want delia to sort out his attitude. I think we will get him. Plus loo what delia done with deynar and deynar done for himself in the spl

Nadir ciftci will be confirmed today as Celtic have matched the valuation of player 1,5 million boys got potential let's see if he can step up coybig 🍀

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Potential being the key word. He does have something about him. But again it's potential.

07 Jul 2015 08:54:24
Good to see us getting our business done early for a change! A left back to challenge Izzy would round off a good window in terms of incomings

Agree1 Disagree1

07 Jul 2015 10:09:34
No doubt he will get a few goals but his attitude stinks and discipline has been shocking at a lower level club(no offence Dundee Utd). I can't c him delivering on the bigger stage and that's what we need. Another cheap option. Why not jus get 1 super star and pay top dollar rather than 3 average

Agree1 Disagree4

07 Jul 2015 10:19:09
How on earth is this a good transfer window? We've lost zaluska although not great and replaced him so far with a nervous wreck youngster who would be better off going to the championship for game time. We've signed a 19 year old with no 1st team experience who could be back up, a centre half in boyata who will struggle to match denayers performance and now cifti who's no better than Griffith although a slightly different player but certainly not a massive improvement just another same level squad player of which we have far too many.

Agree2 Disagree3

07 Jul 2015 10:38:43
Ciftci is a good squad player for now but a LB and be happy isn't ambitious enough for me! Maybe in lawells eyes! We need another CF maybe scepovic needs another go but I can't see him making it complaining about long ball football? How often do we play long ball now? BS excuse! We need another CF I believe RD can help ciftci a lot but we don't have a CF good enough for the CL yet again!

Agree1 Disagree1

07 Jul 2015 10:51:02
Jim1972 how can you say this is bad? Zaluska played around 13 league games over the last 6 years, that's not something that will be missed. We have also agreed a fee with a Belgian 'keeper, 29yo for back up to Gordon. I think the signing of Saidy will be a master stroke, a player I feel Deila probably noticed during his time down with Man City. Boyata was highly rated as one of the best as a youngster, I feel after what we done with Denayer last year we should be excited about this boy. A lot of people have been having a grumble about Ciftci, the boy got 16 in 42 in a side that drastically fell after we signed their 2 best players. I trust Deila way more than I ever would Lennon with transfers, I think we should wait and see how these players perform in a Celtic jersey before getting negative.

07 Jul 2015 11:02:29
Couldn't agree more bud! think we all need to realise that we're not going to buy that striker we all crave it! While Lawell is pulling the strings then these bargain strikers are what we're going to get! Just hope I'm wrong but I can see a struggle getting to the CL! I thought with RD winnin the double and doing ok in the Europa league would have earned him the right to get the money to add 2 or 3 quality players, starting with a striker! But I should have known better!

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 11:05:09
Got to say that I agree that his attitude is terrible but griffths was just as bad when he got here but RD managed to steer him on the right track so i'm sure he could do the same here and help him live up to the potential

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 12:12:07
Griffs attitude to play football is never in doubt it's his severe lack of brain cells for living life off the pitch that is an issue and always will be. RD has instilled a better training and fitness attitude for the whole squad. I agree it's the board holding the purse strings and that's why we don't have the right quality. We have a development philosophy now which is fair enough but players only get better by playing with better. U stick a top drawer front man in that team and watch the youth flourish

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 12:41:40
Gary92 I never said it was a bad transfer window I just don't think it's a good window. You also say we're signing a 29 yr old keeper that's just speculation not fact as yet. I thought Ronny wanted to sign players to improve the starting team but in my opinion he's only added to the squad. Janko boyata and cifti may become better players than expected but none of the signings have convinced me that we will take steps forward from last season. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 12:56:33
If we signed coco the clown we'd be looking for positives!

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 13:03:28
Jim1972, I think you must be the only one, or one of the only ones, who doesn't expect Janko to be a bumper. The Manchester United fans don't seem to be very happy he's gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 13:17:00
Well kev like most celtic and Manchester United fans I've never seen him kick a ball for the first team so I'll reserve judgement on him as I have my doubts he'll start before a fit lustig

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 17:21:20
We can't say if it's a good or bad transfer window yet because we still have under a month left of the window! But if ciftci is the only CF we bring in its a gamble! Do the board not like making 15/20m in CL money? U have to speculate to accumulate! And sponsorship money would be better with CL football!

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 17:59:57
Jim1972 you may not have said the word bad, but you questioned how it was good, similar if you ask me. The Belgian lad is in today for talks I'm lead to believe. In terms of Ciftci and his attitude, our current captain came under the same bracket and if you ask me us as a club changed him for the better, again with Griffiths when he got his head down. Ciftci won't be allowed to act like that with some of the experience we have in our dressing room.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 18:32:48
I am not bothered if we sign free transfers as long as they improve the team and IF RD has picked those players then I am willing to give them a chance see how they do

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 19:52:34
The last thing we need is for him to be sent off in a crucial CL game.Lets hope he bucks his ideas up or RD will send him packing. Would this be the green light to sell Stokes now?
