Ed any truth in Emilio returning?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - He said himself a few weeks ago when he turned down Hibs he didn't want to return to Scotland and that he wants to play for a team based nearer Honduras.

07 Aug 2018 22:50:06
I know I thought he would have been MLS bound. Reports in a few papers tonight though - seems too random to be made up, must be something in it at least.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 22:52:04
We ain't hibs. His love for our club is up there with most of any overseas player we have ever had.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 23:20:39
Direct quote from Emilio in today’s Columbia Deportiva (cental american paper) :

“I am arranging with Celtic to return. I do not have any plans to stay in Central America right now”

Looks like its happening.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 00:21:28
Sure I read, when lenny tried to sign him, he would not set foot back in Scotland. Something to do with agents, how he felt blackmailed possible? But seemed adamant he wouldn't be back here .

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's what I had read too, I forgot it said that there was money involved. It seemed pretty clear cut and it was quoting Izzy.}

08 Aug 2018 06:25:06
As much as he loves the club, it’s another cheap move . I think he was a weak link when he was here before he moved abroad . Defensively he’s not great, I appreciate we need cover for kt but is it our scouting that’s poor or us being cheap.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Aug 2018 08:08:35
Said the agents were threatening to sue him but maybe it's been sorted out now?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 09:17:33
Was our scouting poor when it found edouard ntcham dembele Quinn?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 09:20:55
Emilio's departure was a funny one. Normally, we think players might be better of playing regular first team football than sit on Celtic--or any team's--bench. The exception is surely some team in Saudi. Emilio doesn't at all seem avaricious and yet blatantly went there for the money, which leads me to conclude that there must indeed have been some murky swindle involving agents and the like. He's also just about the ideal deputy for KT, and might be content to play a bit part at a club he has obvious affection for where other younger players might not. It wasn't so long ago he represented one of our chief attacking strengths (In that its remarkable the kind of player KT has become . . . coincidence? )

I'd take him back in a minute and through a free car in for the missus.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 09:45:24
Although 2nd choice to kt he was still head and shoulders above anything else in Scotland in his pos and it was only a year ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 10:35:26
No Kev our scouting wasn’t poor when we found the players you mentioned, my point would be is that they couldn’t come up with a new alternative or was the board going for the cheap option? Not every deal is going to work out either Kev so while I agree with you on the players mentioned there is also failures . Again my question would be is it the board going the cheaper route?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 11:20:41
What is wrong with the cheap route for a player that will be back up to first choice?
Especially when he knows the club inside out and will fit right in.
He will bring a good amount of experience as well.
Celtic didn't want to lose him in the first place.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 14:14:22
Seems like a pointless signing.

If KT is injured or needs rested we could also put McGregor there, or even Calvin miller. Or even stick with a 3-5-2 and play Hayes or Sinclair there.

If KT stays fit he won’t get a game and will be a waste of a wage.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 14:38:55
So Andy you'd be happy going up against a Barcelona or a psg with McGregor or Miller as our left back?
Jesus weep.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 20:39:46
Ed is there any interest from us in Chirivella or is it paper talk?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It originated on a hit-whoring site so I doubt it.}

07 Aug 2018 21:15:32
Ed, I know you have said previously that you expect McGinn to be a Celtic player before the window shuts however with him traveling to Villa today, do you still think so? Personally I would still be surprised if he wasn't a Celtic player however is a bit worrying that he went down to Birmingham.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - McGinn is and always was leaving Hibs in this window, if Celtic had agreed a fee with Hibs as I expected they would he would be at Celtic now. If Celtic can't agree a fee with Hibs MCGinn has to see what else is out there, McGinn was never going to wait to sign a pre-contract and stiff Hibs and St Mirren.}

07 Aug 2018 22:04:19
Thanks, I agree, I thought Celtic would have agreed a fee by now.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I just couldn't (can't?) see Celtic let him slip through their fingers when the player has made it clear to everyone he wanted to come here.}

07 Aug 2018 22:38:56
Especially when we have gone in with three bids and BR has made it very clear he wants the player.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 22:50:02
Get McGinn back up the road and into CP. We all know he is Celtic fan but let's NOT use that as an excuse not to pay the money and get him in this window.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 22:50:02
McGinn signing for villa tomorrow, medical tomorrow, done deal.

Agree1 Disagree1

07 Aug 2018 23:18:48
Ed did the story not come from Neil Jones from the Liverpool echo tweeting then get picked up by the hit whoring website?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He doesn't work for The Echo, he now works for the hit whoring site - do keep up, Kev :-D

08 Aug 2018 00:15:22
Brendan has already stated his disappointment at the situation allowing other clubs to go in for him when we had the chance to wrap it up quick.

Yet if it all fails then the board will still be defended. Tbh if they fail Rodgers this season then I can see it being his last year. Won't blame him either.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Aug 2018 08:14:17
Aw scratch that found the story saying he's now left.

07 Aug 2018 18:16:40
And Thor. I pray to him.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 19:47:44
@Magicpole: whatevers thor go to the docs mate, you can get cream for it these days.

what about the Lord. Thank Him.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 19:54:12
Much more interested in Ntcham being fit than the McGinn saga for sure. Good news.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 23:08:28
Thor is the lord of thunder or so Jeff Goldblum says so I must be true and he is bound to have had apart to play in Ollie being fit. Now if we can only catch the Rangers sort out a transfer policy spend another 9 million the fans May settle.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 14:05:20
Peter I don’t believe The Lord exists. I’m sticking with Thor.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 15:50:47
It will be either Chirivella or McGinn and it will be either Arzani or Roberts not both IMO

If we have moved our attention to Chirivella maybe we have already given up on McGinn? (Y)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Aug 2018 16:07:43
I'd rather have Mcginn than Chirivella tbh.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 16:12:29
Who's the other guy never heard of him pardon my ignorance.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 16:19:28
Spanish boy fae Liverpool that was out on loan is Holland last season mally.
Rosenberg had a bid of around 3.5 million accepted but he knocked them back.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 16:20:24
Join the club Mally. A diehard Tim for less than a Spanish guy who hasn’t played for two years for more money? I don’t actually believe this is a goer though. Hopefully.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 16:21:39
Kevbhoy a lot of fans said that kind of thing when we brought ntcham in.
They also demanded Griffiths play before Edouard tae.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 16:33:22
What has die hard Tim got to do with it?
Who cares what team any player supports as long as they are good players?

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 16:49:09
Chirivella looks like a class act as much as I’d like Mcginn if we can get chirevella would be a good signing also was quoted as being 2.5 million with add ins surecthats what Celtic bid for Mcginn and got knocked back.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 16:50:27
Not played football for the last 2 years? So did the 35 he played in the Eredivisie in Holland last year not count magicpole?

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 16:58:59
He’s a class player. Or like estimating true cost, are you unable to tell a class player either Kev? A class player who loves us is always a good thing. A diehard who isn’t good enough like Ralston, that’s different, but class Mcginn possesses.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 17:07:52
Mcginn has done nothing to be called a class act. He wouldn't even get in our starting 11 if everyone fit.
He's no where near as good as ntcham never mind almost the same value.
McGregor by far a better player.
Mcginn would be squad player at best.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 17:27:32
@Magicpole don’t take the huff with me because you were corrected after including wages in your valuation without telling anybody. I’ve seen enough of John McGinn to see that he’s more of the Armstrong replacement BR spoke about earlier in the window.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 18:14:25
I don’t take the huff Kev. You failing to recognise what duds actually cost is a worry. We will need to agree to differ on John as we will be going round in circles, a bit like Lawells signing strategy. Nowhere fast.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 15:13:35
Papers down south linking us to Pedro Chirivella from liverpool.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

07 Aug 2018 16:53:02
Do you know much about him Kev mate? Have you seen him play? Think BR rates the lad.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 19:07:03
Can say I do Nicky but then I knew nothing about Ntcham and Edouard either.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 13:42:48
Sky reporting we've rejected a bid for boyata.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

07 Aug 2018 14:55:15
BBC also with statement from BR.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 15:06:38
Is McGinn having a medical at Villa as well? If so then massive slap in the face for the board.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 12:41:57
McGinn looks like he is heading to Aston Villa.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

07 Aug 2018 13:18:56
If he goes to Villa for £4m, the same fee we paid for Broony 10 years ago, will we think the board have played this right? A year down there and he will move on for three times that at least. A dangerous game we are playing.

Agree1 Disagree1

07 Aug 2018 13:28:34
It’s terrible MP. Celtic standing around kicking the dirt with our hands firmly in our pockets. Somethings not right in my eyes and it’s begginig to bug me. The weeks keep going by where we are no stronger than we were. Lost 2 stand out squad players. Not replaced them, and potentially going to lose our “best” centre back. I guess they will not be replaced any time soon.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 13:42:48
We want top dollar for our players, but don’t accept others want the same. To me £4m is a snip. The fact we could get him for £3m is a worry that we don’t pay that. It screams cheapskate and all the talk of adding quality is bollocks as he is quality and a good price. It will come down to Hohn but you actually want to be wanted. Typical Celtic in my view. And nowhere near good enough. Let’s hope sense prevails we sign him and move on to the others we need.

Agree2 Disagree1

07 Aug 2018 13:56:47
Well said MP!

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 14:56:01
He's not going to go to the championship. Relax.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 16:38:00
Why should we pay 4 million for a guy on the last year of his contract.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 10:44:07
Celtic turned down the chance to sign patrick roberts permanently as he is far to expensive, hearing we have lodged a 2 million bid for motherwell striker ryan bowman and will lodge 4.5 million bid for hibs right back david gray. Boyata deal also rejected from fulham as we are holding out for 15 million.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

07 Aug 2018 10:59:39
Take cover everyone, Hoops is back, total F*d.

07 Aug 2018 11:07:27

Return of the baw bag. Heard there selling Boyata for £15mill and replacing him with Gordon Greer.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 11:08:58
Brilliant, just brilliant 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 11:40:50
I think Hoops88 is a genuine con artist and is a pro at his work. 😂😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 14:56:16
Supposedly Fulham are going to up their offer to £12m, if that’s true, I think the board will accept that, however, I have a feeling come deadline day, he won’t be replaced, and once again Lawwell will come out the following day with the worlds smallest violin, telling us “oh we tried to get him in”etc etc.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 16:05:41
It’s alreasy happened. We just need to catch up. His same old rubbish every year. No ambition. Plenty of talk, no walk Lawell.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 16:22:09
I am so fed up with Peter L, I hope he/ we are not holding out for players and gave no plan B, C or D.

Speculate to accumulate (within reason) don't go backwards. by selling off squad players (Erik and Stuart) without having surety over replacements.

If we have sold without a back up plan, we are playing a dangerous game in the murky world of transfers.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 16:50:07
We are masters of the dangerous game. The let’s all pray things turn out lovely. The only thing that surprises and infuriated me is I am always surprised we don’t buy players dugs in the street know we need. Lawell is not the only person who will never change.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 02:04:34
The daily mail reports that 9m has been rejected by Celtic for Boyata but are willing to go upto 12m.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Aug 2018 04:58:36
would you accept 12 or hold out. If the clubs policy is to develop players to sell is this the maximum return we can expect for a player who was considered a liablity just 12 months ago. Could we find potential before the window closes.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 06:23:57
If they're willing to pay £12 million for him then I'd take it. He obviously has talent but has too many bomb scare moments for my liking.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 06:24:21
If we took the twelve million it would be nice to go straight out and sign Benkovic but looks like he will be off to Leicester . If we are not careful we could end up being weaker after this window . In saying that if his head has been turned we have no choice but to accept the bid, he’s not played well for us for the last 6 months, although you would think he owes us something after the way the manager has backed him after some of the mistakes he made previously.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 06:28:51
Am sure we could they must have a target in mind I would take the money cause his mind is turned so it's 9to 12m now or nothing when he goes next year.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 07:46:27
£12m would be some bit of business. But its who we replace him with that gives me the fear. If we sign McKenna for like £5m I’m going to start supporting Partick.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 08:26:47
The only worry l would have if we accepted the 9m or more is weather it would be used to bring in a new CB. Somehow l think they would make out as if they tried to get something done but weren't able to get a deal across the line.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 08:31:19
take the 12 million and get Dawson from West Brom as well as getting that Ozzy CB that is going on a free. Need to start strengthening our defence.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 08:48:57
12m id drive him myself. Final year and imo he wants to go anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 09:16:46
didn't we get about that much for Wanyama a wee while back? Big dyck's got nothing on Vic. Sold.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 10:36:15
I like Boyata but we would be nuts to turn down £12m for anyone with a year left on his contract. Don't know how much truth is in this though we have a game wed night so by tomorrow it will be another headline to try unsettle us.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 11:26:21
Sell but we need to replace him because we can't rely on compper and ajer and Hendry just learning.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2018 12:45:34
Agree would be nice to use that money for Benkovic but think that ships sailed as he may be off to Leicester. Back 3 of Ajer Jozo and Benkovic would be decent may help Jozo up his game again.
