Ed a question, is Celtic the youngest club in cl? If not it has be really close which just makes our run in cl even more impressive. Thanks {Ed007's Note - To be honest I don't know for a fact but they can't be far off it.}

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Our average age is 24 & Borussia dortmund is 23 can't think of any other 'younger' teams

Lenny

Agree0 Disagree0

If and when The Rangers get into the CL, surely it will be the youngest club, as it'll be 125 years younger than Celtic.

Just heard on news on radio that over 500 Celtic fans were locked out of start of tonight's game and gates were not opened until 25 minutes AFTER game started.
Every time Celtic go to Turin there is some problem. The Celtic security guy should have known about past problems, and should have been there to liase with police and local officials.
I forget the name of the Celtic security advisor, but surely part of his job, and an important part, was to ensure the safety, and safe passage, of Celtic fans into and from the ground.
This man was probably enjoying some coffee and pasta, instead of doing his job ie looking after the safety of Celtic fans.
I hope Celtic complain to UEFA and this security man given a rollicking. Timalloy {Ed007's Note - It's not just CFC fans, it is any fans travelling to Italy. Man Utd have had some scary times over the years in Italy, it is an Italian problem.}

Believable4 Unbelievable5

It was a disgrace. We were there an hour before kick off and weren't in the ground til 7 minutes in. Two tiny gates for 2500 fans, everyone was getting crushed. Saw at least 4 boys getting their heads put in by the police purely because people behind them had pushed them forward. The crush got so bad a bhoy had to get lifted up and passed overhead UNCONSCIOUS while all stewerds and police watched. The Celtic stewerd said "There's nothing we can do". Absolutely disgusting. A lot of people talking about giving up on trips and to be honest it's hard to argue with them. How UEFA can continue to let this happen when it's a common thing with away fans in Italy is rediculous!

First half was the best and looked like we could have got 2 goals, the 2nd half was a let down after the first and losing wanyama and Matthews really hurt us. The passing was just shocking and the most disappointing thing to me in the 2nd half as we didn't come close to the level we were playing in the first. Our crosses (izzy) was a let down to. But we did have our chances just lacking the finish and tested them and we had more chances and more possession in the tie, so we showed we are up for the challenge and held our own and made a lot of noise saying we are back. Great cl ride well done to the bhoys put our name out there with the best (last 2 British clubs standing, epl who?lol) in the game once again and it is only just the beginning.
It's great to see Lennon get a lot of praise from the guys on tv (and around the football world really) and all the credit he deserves as they think he is a good manager with great expirence/achievements early in his coaching years. Hope we hold onto him for awhile as people think epl is going to be calling soon, way to show class and smarts a long the wayLennon.

The charm offensive continues. green is on talksh**e with the sex pests tomorrow for a, probably disgustingly, easy ride. propaganda alert! I notice the will Lenny stay question being raised again. I have no doubt he will. I think Lennon is an honourable man with a great sense of what this club means. I think he will eventually move to an EPL side, but this will be on the work he has done for us. The job is not finished yet, this is only the beginning! In Lennon we trust. always. green jhedi

Believable11 Unbelievable7

Neil Lennon has a lot to learn, needs a solid back four to progress. Midfield requires a playmaker and up front we require a physical precance. That said we have had a great adventure in the champions league. let's have more of the same next season. Hail Hail

Agree3 Disagree0

Greens not daft he's been on before with they two clowns they just dribble from the chin when he answers the phone

As for Neil I give him about another 2/3 good seasons before he goes IMO. He looks the business with the suit now I personally like the track suit too but looks the part all dressed up. champions league done a few things for us. Brought in money for the club that's wiped the debt, gave the manager & players lots of experience and gave the fans sone great memories & most important it put Celtic back on the European map.

The big test now will be next season forget hooper wanyama etc players come & go that's life & that's football. I just hope we get another run first of all in the champions league then pushing the last 16 again hopefully.

Class apart last night but if we can do the same again next year then brilliant

The fans have been great all over Europe and Celtic park on those special nights got the works talking messi xavi conte etc. makes you feel proud to pull on the Celtic top whenever you go out.

Lenny

Agree1 Disagree0

Neil first, I think he'll stay of course. He's the gaffer. He can beat Martin O'Neill and Gordon Strachan's records. I think he has a great supportive relationship with Dermott. He won't get the supportive family structure he enjoys here from CEO BOARD and Owner anywhere else.

Agree0 Disagree0

There was never 5 goals in this game really dissappointing as 5 nil looks really bad I think lenny was spot on - we had chances but not the quality to take them. Izzy is a really poor defender - I would stick him wide up front or midfield. He makes too many mistakes at the back -good player though. I thought Wilson was excellent. Get him somebody half decent beside him and a new left back and we will be OK. Hooper was a big let down - took a couple of million off his transfer fee last night.

Not going to analyze the game, I've enjoyed this season (which is not over) but the highlight has most definitely been the reaching the last 16 of the CL.

Group stages again next season bhoys will be just grand!

Believable15 Unbelievable7

It is a disgrace that we have to go through qualifying for the CL when we are true champions of our national league I know it is all about money but we are treated shamefully by UEFA all for the sake of money Where is the sporting integrity in that!

This would break your fekn heart. Gift them possession in our own half and get turned over! Not enough from the forward players for me, Sammi;one decent run that Hooper should poked in. Commons;pretty poor and not really done much at all. Hooper;not enough running for me i'm afraid. Wilson, Big Vic and Ledley best for me, Matthews and Mulgrew doing well and kayal is getting in about them well enough. Such a shame to sell another goal as our possession has been pretty good overall. Really decent performance considering everything. green jhedi

Believable10 Unbelievable8

I think you are being hard on Celtic. They took the game to Juve particularly in the first half. We did not look outclassed and with a bit of luck could have scored a couple of goals. I am worried about Izzy who is proving to be a liability at times and also Fraser Forster who seems to be lacking confidence since his return from injury. However I am very proud of Celtic's performance in the CL and look forward to next year's campaign.

Why was Wanyama in defence, he was needed powering forward in midfield, with brown out, was he trying to blame ambrose for the mistaskes ambrose made in the first game,, instead of manning up and saying it was his mistake for playing a jetlagged tired player,, I think neil lennons becoming a good manager,, but he 's a lot to learn,, ps why was rogne not played beside wilson,, if ambrose was held up

@Liah. Hard on Celtic? Did you read it? With respect I did say it was a really decent performance and the post is only about the first half. green jhedi

@ GJ agree about Izziguirre being at fault, he has lost his way a bit since his injury.
Also, in hindsight I know, but should we have accepted Norwich's £9.5m for Hooper, he hardly kicked a ball in both games.
But to end more positively, we have gained respect from all over europe. HH Timalloy

Completely outclassed over the two legs, don't be deceived by the possession and performance, Juve allowed us as much possession as we wanted knowing that we would be the architects of our own downfall as usual. I fear the worst next season when we lose our best performers and don't expect us to make the group stages. Hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

Agree1 Disagree0

Post 2, did you see when Ambrose came on how shaky and nerves it was when he had the ball or when being attacked? That is why wanyama was in because he was great back there and was solid.

good luck to the bhoys tonight. it's a very, very tall order, but who knows? remember henrik saying that MON's team talk before the liverpool away game in 2003 was the greatest team talk he has ever witnessed, well we need a repeat of that tonight. lenny has got to get the lads up for this, and make them believe that they can do something special. he's done it before ( 0-3 at half time in killie ) and if we get an early goal this could unsettle the italians. we have players who, at the peak of their form, are a match for ANY team in the world. what if fraser, izzy, sami, big vic, hoops, ledley, commons et al all play the game of their life? we CAN do this!

admittedly, I have started drinking early, but a bhoys allowed to dream, isn't he?

Killie/juve no difference, one good team talk and we'll be fine! Sorry but if we steal a draw here it would be a great result on the night, but I fully expect Izzy to leave big wide open spaces behind him as usual for the Italians to exploit. Time to be realistic I think.

ED007; Just had a blether with my mate in Manc land about the game last night. He reckoned that Nani's red was harsh but could see why he gave it. But more interesting is his thoughts on Rooney. Seems the vast majority were surprised he did not start. For me, Fergie might have got it right, I thought Giggs showed every day of his experience and had a real good game, as Utd were playing well. The rumour he heard at the game I found interesting. Seems Fergie has learned of his agent sniffing around a deal with PSG! After the City fiasco he is not best pleased. You heard anything and do you think he will be there next season?. green jhedi {Ed007's Note - PSG are supposedly interested but as of right now there has been no official approaches. I would be surprised to see him go abroad, the language barrier would be a major obstacle, he really is not the brightest. If he left Utd PSG would be the easiest option as he could commute.}

Believable6 Unbelievable1

ED007; that's the reason why Fergie was fuming, it was a sneaky mention FROM Rooney's people that Fergie got wind of. He will be like big Jock in that respect, plenty contacts. Or maybe, Beckham let it slip to someone? Interesting days ahead. green jhedi {Ed007's Note - If he is leaving it will be the upcoming summer as that will be him going into the last year of his deal. Maybe Mr.Desmond could get us an early Christmas present to replace Hooper :-)

Nervous again for tonight

Would love to see Celtic get an early goal and make a game of this. Juve were just too crafty for Celtic in the first leg and 3-0 a very poor reflection but that's the scoreline at the moment.

We need to dominate midfield and no comedy defence errors. I've said it before, very tough nuts to crack the Italian and 3 goals would be a miracle.

Get right intae them!

COYBIG ~ Mrs E

Believable8 Unbelievable2

I think not conceding another early goals more important or the aggregate could be a cricket score Celtics only hope is Juve getting a man sent off.

Dominating the midfield would be a very big ask playing against Andrea Pirlo & Vidal Yes Juventus will try everything in the book to wind Celtic up again could be a very long night for you Mrs E.

Trying hard not to let my mind drift to a win for us tonight and CL glory on an unprecedented scale! It's all there you know, Hooper in 18 minutes, Big Vic from a corner 39 minutes. Half time cup of time and a pumped up talk from Lenny, "carried off on their sheilds"was brilliant by the way, then 66 minutes Sammi, after a mazy run tee's up Hooper for a tap in. 91 minutes Mulgrew swings a deep cross and Sammi blasts a header past Buffon.

Right that's the fantasy football over folks! In the real world I will be happy if we play, and take the game to them. Any kind of win would be a great result, a draw would be a good result, but the performance is maybe the most important thing tonight. Have we learned how to concentrate and be slick with our passing? Can we press them back, even for short spells? Can we please, please cut out the gifts?

After the first leg the consensus was we played pretty well. I still think if Efie lashes THAT clearance away the result would have been different. I firmly believe we would have kept the tie alive and maybe even took a 1-0 to Turin. The early gift changed the whole dynamic of the game. The players deserve enormous credit for the way they kept pressing and playing to a high tempo. First goal tonight is the killer. Us; lifts us and maybe, just maybe, starts to upset Juve. Them; will deflate us and make it a long night as the game is, as it probably is now to be fair, dead. Regardless of tonight it's been great to COMPETE with these teams after two tricky qualifiers. Remember this team is not the finished article. It's young, it's inexperienced at this level, but man, they gave it a lash! In Lennon we trust. green jhedi

Believable3 Unbelievable3

The fantasy football scenario sums up the Fairy Tale that is Celtic FC.
But;
They are formidable at home and the ref will probably be a 'Homer' anyway and we have been off the boil lately with a lack of clean sheets in games. But;
We have nothing to lose and they may be over-confident. They could make a lot of changes? The Bhoys could play out of their skins.
The ref may hate old Italian Ladies?
Anyway we enjoyed the most amount of possession - against them at home - in most CL games and we gifted them soft, soft goals with basic mistakes and that must not repeat.
If we go out tonight then go out in a glorious flourish and not a wet fart.

Squad for next season.
We all know its just a mater of time before the likes of Hooper and Wanyama leave so how would we like to see the squad looking for next season, few realistic signings you would like to see coming in and who you would sell or let go.

GK - Forster, Zaluska, Randolph
RB - Matthews, Lustig
LB - Oshaniwa, Gershon
CB - Wilson, Ottesen, Mulgrew, Berra
CM - Brown, Ledley, Kayal, Rogic
RM/LM - Forrest, Samaras, Commons, McGeouch
ST - Austin, Vydra, Stokes, Watt

IN
Randolph - Motherwell
Juwon Oshaniwa - Ashdod
Solvi Ottesen - Copenhagen
Christopher Berra - Wolves
Charlie Austin - Burnley
Matej Vydra - Udinese (on loan at Watford)

OUT
Izaguirre
Ambrose
Rogne - Free
Toshney - Free
Wanyama
McCourt - Free
Hooper
Miku - End Loan
Lassad
Murphy - Free

Believable0 Unbelievable18

Started reading this and saw BERRA! Nuff said I think. BYE. green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree0

I think Berra would be a decent signing for centre back.
He has played in that position in the SPL already, I thinks he's out of contract in summer (no large fee) and can he be any worse than Rogne?

Agree0 Disagree1

It's all about opinions, and I think that the majority of the players that the OP has stated will leave, will do just that. I can't see Ambrose or Lassad leaving though. I would also add Lukas Zaluska to the list. I think his time is up. Of the guys that you have added to your 'wishlist', :-

Randolph - Personally I would go for Jamie MacDonald from Hearts. better all round goalie in my opinion
Vydra - Excellent player. Doubt that the Udinese/Granada/Watford owners would allow him to leave
Berra. - No thanks. not good enough. I'd go for Sean Morrison of Reading
Austin - heard loads about him, but not seen enough.
Oshinawa and Ottesen - Can't Comment. Havent seen them

I'd go for

Jamie MacDonald (Hearts)
A. J. Leitch Smith (Crewe)
Sean Morrison (Reading)
Mark O'Hara (Killie)
Lewis McGugan (Forest)
Billy McKay (ICT)

Just my opinion mind

Really excited for the game tomorrow. Hoping but not expecting to advance. One thing I would really like to see is some intent. A focus on the game, because anything can happen in football. A great example of this would be to see (if we score) the goalscorer pluck the ball out of the net immediately and get back to go again. Obviously a gesture to the travelling fans would be great, but I don't want to see a carry on like we've just gone through (unless we've just scored a fourth deep in injury time!).

Mon the Celts!
