If this is true, its not a big loss. Untested striker, if he is as good as he says should be looking to take a step into Champions League. , going to Palace would be a money move. Daviebhoy77

Looks like it could be true, just seen that celtic are dragging their heels again with a low ball offer as usual, well short of palaces offer. like russell it will be another player missed and we will have to settle for a doyle or worse!

Can't say I'm disappointed to hear that, what I've seen of him on YouTube he was shaping up to be this year's Mo Bangura. Drewzybhoy.

It's all just paper talk at the minute. The truth is no one has signed him and it's all speculation until now. I don't really know a lot about the guy so I can't comment on his ability. What I will say i'd everyone should stop panicking. The Club will put a value on a player and if it's deemed suitable we will sign him. I am not too worried about us at the minute, we still have ample time to get people in place. the right people. Who on here can honestly say that Balde will be a superstar? We just don't know, so stay patient and I'm positive we will land the right players

Ok guys the rumours for this transfer window is.
Lenny only wanting 2 or 3 players as he thinks the currant team good enough to win all cups including Champions League. Eh wake up!
But the players that will be leaving.
Wanyama. £8 - £10million
Hooper. £7 - £9million
Foster. £5 - £7million
Emlio. ( shocker ) £6 - £10million
Now going by top estamte lenny would get. £36million But he will only see about £10 - £15million
Players that he said he would like to bring.
Mcgeady. £8million tops
Denilson. Free Agent.
Arshaven. Free Agent.
But all players wages are Big. Denilson is on like £48k and he the cheap one too.
But just a Rumour.
Whats all your in take on this?

Lot o rubbish, some of the players stated might well leave but not for they prices!
And as for the incoming. No comment lol

Seriously? Can't believe this has actually been posted! Celtic are not in the same stratosphere to attract guys like arshavin or denilson. These guys will be on 80k + Celtic will never offload all of these guys in the 1 go - I would expect 2 will go and possibly another 1 in January.
Hail hail

I think its not a rumour its Bull.
No way will pay 48k wages for Denilson
McGeady prob head to EPL
and as for arshaven no thanks

Personally I think you need to lay off what ever you are smoking, denilson, arshaven and mcgeady are well out of our wage bracket, and the days of celtic spending 5, 6, 7, or 8 million are long gone.
Agree1
Disagree0
Are you serious?! Where on earth did you hear this? There is no way McGeady is coming home and I doubt anyone will pay 8m for him; we definitely won't. Arshaven too much in wages and same with Denilson. Where do some people get this garbage?!
Agree0
Disagree0
We would never get £6million for Emilio now. £4million tops. Celtic spending £8million on one player? No chance. And there is absolutely no way we could sign Arshavin
LM67
Agree0

Wouldn't take McGeady on a free and your estimates for our sales are a bit extreme apart from Victor. No way we will see £9 million for Hooper with one year left on his contract and as if Izzy, maybe after his first season but a shawdow of that player now.
Agree0

I have heard that G Hooper has already signed for Norwich for £6m, it will be announce early next week or soon after.
Have any you guys heard this?

Arshaven has been offered 400k a week by some saudi team so he is probably not going to go to celtic for 25k
mcgeady won't come back
denilson is s****
emilio won't go
and we won't sell all of the other 3
sell 1 or 2 tops

So with a few players left or about to leave
Rogne
Gershon
McCourt
Miku
Lassad
Murphy
And proberly Gary Hooper & Victor Wanyama
Bangura still out on loan
This is what we a left with.
GK - Forster, Zaluska
RB - Matthews, Lustig
LB - Izaguirre
CB - Wilson, Mulgrew, Ambrose
CM - Brown, Ledley, Kayal, Rogic
RM/LM - Samaras, Commons, Forrest, McGeouch
ST - Stokes, Watt
I don't know if any youngsters are ready to make an impact on the first team yet but going with above we are looking at a new LB, CB, CM, RM/LM & 2x ST.
So who do we want to see coming in?
According to reports these could be the ones but would you be happy with these targets.
LB - Paul Dummett or Brice Dja Djedje
CB - Richard Dunne
CM - Connor Newton
RM/LM - Alexsandar Tonev
ST - Amido Balde, Yannick Sagbo, Johnny Russell, Kevin Doyle
Believable12
Unbelievable11
LB/CB - think we should make a double swoop for Beausejour and Ramis of Wigan following their relegation. Saying that a left back isn't priority as ledley/mulgrew can cover izzy if injured. A cb is a must tho, not comfortable with ambrose. Mulgrew and Wilson will always be first choice pairing IMO
CM-think there's enough quality in there even if Wanyama is sold
LW/RW-personally would like to see a return of aiden mcgeady. He's into last year at spartak and turned down an extension. Has plenty craft however maybe lennon will start to blood mcgeoch this season? From what I've seen of him he could be the next young star to emerge with Tom rogic. Forrest is a must on the opposite flank though
CF- any funds generated from sales of wanyam / hooper must be reinvested into a new strike force. With stokes also turning down an extension we must splash out on a proven goal scorer. Tony watt must be given an opportunity to progress this season and give united the 1mil they're looking for for johnny Russell. Surely a bargain given his record this season.
Agree2

Balde and hopefully Russell. The rest of our signings will be unknown gems that the media don't get a sniff at before we sign them.
LM67
Agree1
Disagree0
You've forgotten all the youngsters we have that are also showing potential; atajic, irvine, fraser etc
Agree0
Disagree0
Richard Dunne a free agent now so I think he would be worth a look. At 33 he should still have 2-3 good years in him and he is a quality, highly experienced CB which may be what we need. I will be disappointed if we don't get Russell. BKKBHOY
Agree0
Disagree0
I think it is easy to say who will come in, but we are forgetting a few more of the youngsters. Whilst they are not the absolute answer F. Twardzik, Atajic and Joe Chalmers must be pushing to be in there.
Atajic looks a tidy player in the development squad and Michael Fraser would be in there if he wasn't injured.
I am not arguing that we need to add; although, I can't help to think that we have some options within. I
Agree0

Dunne is dun, would be a complete waste of money.
Agree0

We should be going for Russell & Mackay-Steven for less than 2Million. Dhanbo
Agree0
Disagree0
Beausejour is utter garbage, actually he'd need to step up a bit to be that good. One of those players that made a couple of EPL moves despite being completely useless.
Agree0
Disagree0
Think Dunne would be great for his experience and probably had 2 good seasons in him. Could be the mentor for Fraser and help him push for the first team!
Think we should give youth a chance this season and let them progress, see if there good enough mainly mcgeouch rogic watt and atajic!
Would also like to sign russell and gms

Have to say am gutted about Russell missing out on him Lennon is not the man I thought he was why would you pass on the opportunity of Russell but go for a 30 year old league 1 striker who can't even get a game for his relighted team shame on Lennon and the Celtic board getting beat to the hottest young Scottish talent probibly tried to get him on the cheap am well peed off!! {Ed007's Note - Remember we are trying iprove a CL squad. Do you see man City trying to sign Russell or The Easter Road Thums? It's too late to explain, but I'll try in the morning. Just keep smile for now.}

Why are you so concerned with Russell! He's not that good! Griffiths is a far better player, also cheaper!
Agree2
Disagree1
We should be looking above Griffs, he isn't that good, will be found out on the European stage, why do we always do things on the cheap,
Agree2
Disagree0
Have to say i'd be disappointed too if we miss out on Russel (more so if it's the player who turns us down for Derby County). He's a good young player. Agree with Ed too though, the priority is to improve a team for the CL - the league WILL take care of itself with what we've already got. As for Doyle, not the most exciting signing by any stretch but he has usually impressed me on the international stage. He's more of a second striker with his hold up play and flick-ons, not bad in the air either. I guess it all depends on who else we sign/who leaves. It's a difficult situation because CL qualification isn't guaranteed, and certain targets would only move to us if we qualified, then again, i'm sure Lenny would want to improve the team ready for the qualifiers. Again though, this summer, i'm really hoping the board show a bit more desire and wow us all with a couple of quality players we've already heard of.
Agree0

Don't no what all the fuss is about Russell he would not get a game end of!
Agree0

Russell has at least scored against cl defenders must be worth a punt, personally a want Rhodes but after the millions we. Have generated doubt that will happen.
Agree0
Disagree0
I don't think this is over yet, Russell has agree terms with derby but medical not until next week and contract not be signed to then, Anything can happen, its not over until Subo sings
Agree0
Disagree0
Griffiths has been charged for shop lifting, and apparently he is a total tool aswell, we don't need the likes of him messing up the laugh our bhoys have in the dressing room, and he isn't a much better player either, I'm with the poster I want Russell but I also agree with ed he might take a season or 2 before he good enough for cl, lenny will have somthing up his sleeve tho
Agree0
Disagree0
I agree to an extent, it's okay saying about trying to improve for the CL and that but Lennon is looking at players like Kevin Doyle surely a young talent like Russell is a better risk? You only need to look at what we missed out on over the years. Steven Fletcher, James McCarthy.
Agree0
Disagree0
The Russell saga isn't over just yet.
He hasn't signed for Derby County yet and I don't think he will either.
Expect to hear soon that he has signed for Celtic.

Is kevin doyle going to improve our champs league chances? Russell offers more and we could make a profit on him.

Why is everyone so upset about not getting Russell? each time I have saw him play he was utter b******s! Lennon know's what he's doing!
DC
Agree0
Disagree0
Why does my spider sense tell me we won't be buying champions league stars?! Can't believe we are targeting Doyle over a young, proven SPL goal scorer who is a big Celtic fan. Hope the signing policy isn't the same as last year - do virtually nothing then take whoever is available for free on the last day.
Sorry to sound pessimistic!
Kenny
Agree0

I don't get it, when the rumour started last week NO-ONE wanted him, including ED. now people are back tracking, come on what is the standard to become a celtic player? He played for a team that got relegated, only started scoring 2wards the end of the season. now he's our answer! C'mon raise the bar!
Agree0
Disagree0
Last poster, no name!, it's not since last wk fans/posters have been talking about Russell.
If u were a true fan or even accessed his site you'd know that Russell has been on radar for over a yr.
Did u even know we bid £500k in jan? Probably not as ure trolling trying to cause problems.
I've been a big advocate of this potential signing and will b the first to stand up and apologise if he doesn't cut it, just think in a great team, developing as a player etc etc we'll have a valuable asset in 2 yrs.
Suppose if he came with a vowel at end of name he'd be worth £2million!

Ed, do you think Man City are in for Doyle? The OP is just suggesting that perhaps we should stick to "our strategy" and bring in a decent scottish 22 year old prospect for under a million pounds rather than Doyle who will command a much higher wage and probably score half the goals Russell would have. Took our eye off the ball promoting a daft pre-season friendly. Players back in a few weeks so we should have guys lined up to come in when the window officially opens on the 10th June.
Agree0
Disagree0
In my opinion Doyle wouldn't be a risk he will go very cheap as they need him off the wage bill and he offers something different as he will chase everything and is decent in the air and he did play most of his career in the premiership so not a league 1 striker as many have pointed I believe that Doyle would be a good signing and another striker of higher quality would improve our team whole sale.

Lassad got more of a chance than Miku or Watt when they deserved it more and he done nothing with it, won't be missed in my opinion. Polcon
Agree0

Just goes to show that for every Hooper, Ledley, Mathews and Kayal there is a Lassad, Murphy, Bangura and Ljunberg.
Plus the perennial disappointing loans like Brozek, Miku, Gershon and Braffheid.
There are many others in each category over the last decade and I wish we would focus on one or two class additions per season and only emergency loans to cover serious injury in January.
Better still get rid of these 'Windaes'.

It obviously didn't work out with Lassad but I did think he maybe had something. He seemed to be permanently injured though, maybe he was just filling that slot for Maloney.
