I read that 12 months ago mate about them too and we are still waiting. Can't see it happening but hope we get Barbosa who is an extremely skillful left-winger

Have no idea if this is true probably not, but a few guys at work have heard ex Chelsea player Malouda is a possible target for NL, I thought his wage demands would be very high, what do you think ed? {Ed007's Note - The reason Malouda is unattached is that nobody would pay him the £80k a week he was asking for. There was problems behind the scenes with money for the last couple of years at Chelsea, it was the classic example of a club offering mega-money to a player and then him refusing to leave unless he is paid up what he is owed from the contract.}

Celtic in pre-season always poor. Hope to god in 9 days time we are prepared for this little irish team. Cannot afford to be caught cold.
Any news anyone of a 3rd signing. Think its clear that McFadden, Bannan & Doyle won't be happening which is good news I think as we have better players at Paradise.
Would either like a young Lubo or even Barbosa, given that he is available on a freebie

Without being too disrespectful to Cliftonville, we could play the side we had tonight in eleven days and still beat them.

Barbosa would be an amazing signing hope we go back in for him surely NL is aware he is available on a free?

An old Lubo would be fine with me

While Neil Lennon is manager we will never move forward.

Interesting post Iain. Do you have any reason for thinking this? Has he and the club not moved forwards in the past year? Just interested to hear your thoughts. Its not a challenge. Sopotcelt.

So who is the man to move us forward and what will this guy do that Lennon has not? Seriously, Lennon has performed miracles in Europe with a shoe string budget team. Daviebhoy77

Not sure who the man is but, outwith Europe last year we were absolutely gash and had the people still being around Fat Sally would have wiped the floor with him.
As much as I would hate to have seen that it is my opinion it would have happened.
Tactically he was shown up by many a manager.

Anyone know who's in the line up for the game against Cluj?
Believable3
Unbelievable7
Forster
Lustig
Wilson
Van dijk
Waters
Commons
Kayal
Forrest
Henderson
Balde
Hooper.
Poor game, good goal by them for first, ripped us open with a counter attack for the second, and sammy kneed one in for the consolation.
They liked a kick though and Kayal was kicked for 90 mins.
Thought Wilson was suspect as usual (Im not one that's jumped on the band wagon), but had a few good moments and Forrest was absent.
Forster made a few good saves or they could have had a few more.
We didn't really have much going forward and they got players back quickly making them difficult to break down.
Henderson looks a prospect.

Kayal wasnt in the game so doubt he was kicked for 90 mins all huff and puff tonight (again) the rest is true!

I know we treat these games as training. But I think when the SPL has such a poor co-efficient resulting in multi CL qualifiers; we need to hit the ground running and at least resemble the team from barely a month ago, in terms of professionalism and winning mentality, or we face Euro humiliation.
Not since MON have the team went about pre-season with a statement of intent.
I grew up with the Lions, where pre-season was a steady build up of easy to tougher opponents and we rarely lost a goal - never mind games to amateurs.
As I say I realise the games are tone up and cob-web shakers, but there are guys all over the world who rarely get a chance to see The Hoops 'live' and we should be putting on a show, building confidence, sharpness and momentum.

Cluj are and have been of late a dangerous champs llge team so no harm losing to them and in a friendly as I'm sure in a competitive match it would be just as tough.
Wee need a bit of flair some kind of class to break teams down. Severely lacking in that department.

Just seen the Celtic team against Cluj and Liam Henderson is starting as he did against Sevastopol. I know he's 17 and a midfielder but does anyone know anything else about the bhoy? ~ Mrs E

I think he's the next Forrest albeit in different position. Neil has to be commended on giving youth a chance he needs to give a lot more a chance. If he's getting game time now I predict a break through this year for him. And hopefully more from watt. I say screw the but wattie and you'll get a chance. I think his 6 senior goals (or watt'ever) went to his head

The next Forrest but in a different position. that doesn't make much sense.
Nothing like Forrest in my opinion. Centre mid that can pass a ball and gets stuck in.
Good interview on him and the young left back Waters on Celtic TV. Young lads that are living the dream.

He comes from the youth set up. An Edinburgh kid, there is another 17 year old McManus who is superb.

He's a cracking centre mid, seen him play a lot at schoolboy level, kinda holding player so don't know how much of a chance he'll get. Captains Scotland at 17's. Really down to earth as well

Mgc I meant he is like Forrest as in a talent from development team. Was trying making comparisons of Their positions or style of play. People always jump on people's comments on here. I wish we were all as accurate as Mgc

Seems he was playing with the U17's however excelled and this level and was called into the U20's. From what I've read John Kennedy has said after he scored twice against Hearts for the U20's 'He finished well for his two goals, he gave us great energy. He has an eye for a pass, he sees things quickly'
His Dad played with Hamilton Accies and Partick Thistle.
I've not seen him play at all and it is a fantastic chance Neil Lennon has given him.
Jason - John Kennedy was also speaking about Connor McManus in the same interview. ~ Mrs E

Okay, if GH is going stay then he must sign a new 3 year deal or celtic take the money on offer, and with the teams that are in for him now a new 3 year deal with celtic is the way forward for GH.

If Hooper Stays Doesn't Sign A New Contract Does He Not Earn More Money With A Signing On Fee At A New Club? {Ed007's Note - If their is no transfer fee to be paid, players will get a higher signing on fee and higher wages than if a fee had to be paid out.}

I don't think he will go either, after what he said yesterday I think he will be wearing our shirt next season. the teams that are after him couldn't hold a candle to celtic and offer what celtic fc could offer GH. Teams like norwich and now the laughable QPR are after him, he would be silly to move to any of them over celtic. yeah money talks, but medals should talk louder! I agree with one of the posts, he wants to stay cause not 1 decent team is after him. Only player I see going now is big vic and at that its lookin less likely everyday. teams don't want to pay the 12m, except southampton and he's said he doesn't want to go there.

I like Gary Hooper as a player(even though I think he belives in is own hype a bit too much) but I think he is being a bit of a fly man here. In my opinion, I think he's overestimated who was goign to come in for him at the seasons end. There was talk of Spurs, S. Moscow, Juventus and the likes, but now it's teams who could not rival the Hoops in any way except paying higher wages due to Sly money.
It's obvious his agent has had a word in his ear and perhaps said-"Gary, let's think about this, stay another year. Run Your contract down, get higher wages and signing on fee and perhaps a big team will take a punt on you due to you being a freebie". Like I say, just my opinion because let's be honest GH doesn't have 1% of the love we do for the Celtic. He's English, he wants to be in their team, he wants to make money.

I think Hooper will go before the season starts or he will run down his contract. I don't see him signing a new contract with us. And yes, it looks like he's disappointed with the size of the clubs showing an interest in him.

Celtic made GH the player he is now, never forget that, now he needs to sign a new deal then move on, or celtic take the money from the clubs in for him now, and send him back to the football back waters.

Still think unless a big club down south come in for Hoops then he will end up signing again and trying to impress in champions league
