Another thought: its about time we as a club/family should stand up and stop taking all the pish:Lawell "25k/30k per week players are not there for us" after stating we could pay 5m for a player. The sevco go on and on about lies and cover ups, smokey mirrors etc, But we have the exact smokey mirrors. I know it doesn't mean if you pay 5m for a player you don't have to necaserly give him 25k. What iam trying to get at here is we are celtic, top end ticket prices compered to the 2 champ league finalist this year. We have a REAL world wide fan base. So therefore its up to the powers that run our club to use our pricey tic's our world wide audience and their brain to do what they are paid huge amounts of money theirselves for and start paying the appropriate wages for appropriate players to play in our fantastic arena. We have a very very good back bone at least 11 good players but when one of those good players is out we are fu**ed. Q: does anybody believe that we'd get any more than a million for commons? Anyone who does are kiddin themselves on, as he's been in the championship before and wasnt really a big name. In my opinion he's been very lucky that lenny saw a LITTLE something in him and realised he could do something in our little league, he's very lucky to be playing in the hoops,. ,. kbarry

Don't know why you are singling out Commons? He's probably been one of our most consistent players this year, who cares were he was playing before we signed him, we sign players from teams in Israel that I've never heard of so not sure again why you are picking the bones out of the championship & Commons, maybe you could explain? Ian L

Agree0 Disagree1

Commons was a star in the Championship and was courted by many clubs before coming to CP. I think he has had a very good season. If we were to sell him, I would be looking for 3or 4 million at least.

kbarry - If, as you say, we are a world player and have a real world audience then why shouldn't we pay that kind of money for a season ticket?

I'm not sure where you are going with this to be honest. You mention Sevco ( for whatever reason ) an liken them to how Mr Lawell speaks?

As for Commons? as Ian L says no idea why you have singled him out as you have I will give my opinion. I think you would get minimum 2.5m for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

All right guys wait a min, I used commons for an example (iam not commons's biggest fan)although I support anyone who wears the hoops. The reason I mentioned sevco is because the phrase " smokey mirrors, was flying about all over, and that is what we are being fed. The reason we should not be paying over priced tickets (although we are a big player)is the effin dross we have to watch, vigurs, brittain, lasley, sh*t foreign imports. there's about 4/5 good players in scotland apart from celtic players. I've followed celtic for over 30 years seen the likes aitken, mcstay, larsson moravcik and lennon to name but a few. Q:who would you have lubo or commons? No way more than a mill (lennon knew him from time at forest then signed him for a cheap 300k knowing
hed be worth that,. ,. kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Ian L, yeah we signed 2 players from israel So what? Do you think ambrose and kayal (good 1st 6 months I should know as I've stated iam in attendance H and A (95%) have futures at the club? A lotta fans (also on here)believe efe to be a fool. To be quite honest i'd keep both as would be decent squad players and we'd probs only get our 1.5m back all in for both. And onto the commons thing i'll be honest he's never been my fav celtic player,, very greedy with shots and free kick (he thinks its his ball taking the ball out of outher players hands)yes he's scored some screamers but with the amount of greedy shots he has he's bound to score a few. How many times have you noticed near the end of the game were chasing a goal, good bit of build up in the 92nd and he has a shot. MMmmm,. ,. kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly - we signed Kris Commons from the championship, Ambrose from Israel - it makes no difference to me or you. I think you are being harsh on Commons who is really the only playmaker we have. Moravcik or Commons. Are you expecting anybody to say Commons? Moravcik was a one of a stroke of luck, call it what u want. Totally disagree with u on Kayal that guy is a lost cause he has not kicked a ball for us since he signed that new contract yet u want to keep him a guy who brings nothing to the team. Sell Commons for less than a million a guy who trained through last years summer break to make sure he was a 100% fit for the start of the season. Good job your not on the payroll at Celtic park mate that's all I'm saying. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree0

We signed Commons cheap as he was almost out of contract.
Who would you rather have, Lubo or Commons. What a rediculous question. Lubo was 15 years ago. You would be aswell comparing Forrest to Jinky.

Celtic have a wage cap for a reason, to keep the club healthy and I can't find fault with that. If we start spending 40k a week on players again we would have a smaller pool of players for a start with no gaurantee of how good they will be and no one wants left with a 40k player sitting on the bench or not playing at all with no chance of moving him on. As for German ticket prices, we can't compare ours to them. Ther are 85million people in Germany and the game there is heavily subsidised through thier tv deals so they can afford to charge less for tickets. As for commons well some people like him some dont, I like him but any player you get for 300k who then plays consistantly for 3/4 year and at end of his time here can be sold for at least 1mill that's not bad going i'd say. mark

Agree0 Disagree0

Ian l, it was you who stated "mate" that we had signed players from israel one of them being kayal doh! And I said the reason for keeping him is that we'd get nowt for him or efe for that matter read what you write mate,. ,. kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Joeshmo1888, that's my original point, 15 years ago we were watching a better playmaker, now we pay more money to watch mediocre playmaker, jinky/forrest? Can't listen to you or take you series any longer, your football brainless,. ,. kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Mark first person to make a bita sense, but a smaller pool of talented players, yeah please. At the min we have you'd say a large pool of dead wood bar maybe as I say 11 players,. ,. kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Joe 1888 I think we both know who the brainless wonder is here, kbarry. ,, or should I call you Homer 'doh' just because you go to every game doesn't mean we should all agree with your posts. You appear to have a bit of a chip on your shoulder my good friend. Joe 1888 I always think u make some good points on here not like some people. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm football brainless. Thanks mate. Check out your disagrees. I beg to differ.

Joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Kbarry idealy we would have a smaller pool with better players and use youth to bolster the squad but it would only take a couple of injuries and a ban or two with a cup game or cl game due and people would be criticising the manager for lack of depth. Also if we did have a good cl campaign and cup runs the squad would be showing signs of tiring by january. mark

I know that the League is over, but the season hasn't finished. No competative edge for Celtic again today. Looked to have switched off. May backfire against Hibs, if players have gone into holiday mode already

WHY DO WE HAVE AN ACADEMY?jim the SEEEEEETHN TIM

Agree0 Disagree0

If ever there was an opportunity to have a first team XI and supplement the squad with academy/youth players now is the time. Instead of overpaying for players who just aren't good enough to hold down a first team place investigate in real talent for the first XI and then add the likes of Fraser etc to be the reserve/stand by player. No big break for the first team during the season, nice idea but doesn't work, no squad rotation during the league campaign, simple bed in a hound player into the team as needed and add some much needed continuity to the team.

Hi ed do you think we will look to bring in any relegated teams player at qpr or reading? {Ed007's Note - There is no chance of getting any player from QPR, they pay crazy wages to very average players, I wouldn't mind if we tried to prise ALF away from Reading though.}

Believable0 Unbelievable4

I wouldn't mind Pogrebnyak, but we couldm't afford the wages. I would take Sean Morrison, the reading Centre Half. Solid. Not afraid of a tackle. Been good when i've seen him this season

Ambrose a waste of space again today, how Lenny rates this player I, ll never know, mc court as much impact as a crisp poke blowing on the park,

I'd defo take ALF if your talking about Adam Le Fondre Ed, evertime I've seem him he's made the dif in the reading team. I said before jan transfer window that if hooper went we should get this boy, he knows where the net is, like hooper but does more running off the ball to make the space.

Watching game and winning so far just wee point though a don't understand why Lennon persists with one man up front IMO move watt up along with stokes and keep commons and mcgeough out wide with Ledley and ambrose in middle team seems to be lacking balance with players outa position would say Gershon should be getting more game time looks solid big player

Im not a fan of the 433 system we play. I think we should play 442 and get a bit of width and 2 strikers to aim at. mark
