Ed I just read 300k compensation for RD reached, Willie mcstay fighting with John Collins for number 2 spot and here is the kicker.he's getting 15mil to spend

Believable5 Unbelievable19

If this is true about 15million then I fear this will be generated by the sale of Virgil and Fraser. Would add more weight to the Craig Gordon rumour too. This is waiting is murder!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly what u smoking 15m? Lol think il still be laughing in the morning

Agree1 Disagree0

Haha 15m. Check your sources again.

Agree1 Disagree0

Maybe he has signed a five year deal and is getting £3m per year .

Agree1 Disagree0

I can see this happening, Virgil will get sold for around 10m, Forster will go for roughly 7 or 8m, (18m) and the board will give the new gaffer around 5m this summer, tight wods once again

Agree0 Disagree0

Never believed the 15 mil part myself (hence the here's the kicker part), I hope its not with the sale of Virgil or Forster.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see Virgil going in the summer. Still got 3years left on his contract so the ball is in our park.

Celtic and Stromgodset have agreed a £300,000 compensation package to free Ronny Deila to take over as hoops manager.

Talks between Peter Lawwell and Tore Pedersen, Delia's agent, went well yesterday with the deal accelerating through the course of Thursday.

Lawwell traveled to Norway today to hold face to face talks with the Stromgodset boss and returned with his man to Glasgow tonight to complete the deal.

The Norwegian side had demanded £500,000 with Celtic offering £200,000 with a compromise figure agreed late this afternoon.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

That's good, will leave us about £200k for player budget.
And they wonder why season tix are low.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are season ticket sales low?

Ed anything in the talk about Craig Gordon? Find it strange we are signing a player without a manager.

Believable8 Unbelievable5

{Ed007's Note - He had only supposedly been using the training facilities. The whole idea of CFC signing Gordon is as bizarre as it is stupid, we really seem to have found another level under the bottom of the barrel.}

It does sound a bit strange. I would be happy to have him as a back up not first team though.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree signing Gordon is daft. He doesn't solve a problem because if he breaks down, we still have to sign a keeper to cover for Gordon

If craig Gordon can stay fit he is a better goalkeeper than zaluska who let's be fair is a good back up at best wouldn't trust him full time if big Fraser leaves after champions league qualifying as expected. Craig Gordon would be a steal for no fee as he is tried and tested at highest level internationally and in EPL. It's his fitness that will be an issue but if he had Bn training with celtic then they know what a good goal keeper he is and he must be fit if they are thinking if offering him a deal

Agree1 Disagree0

Crazy crap Ed, unless the decision has already been taken to sell Fraser Foster, then what manager would sign to have the rug pulled from underneath him before he even steps in the door.

I hope the new manager does well but he can only be as successful as the backing he gets from the board.

Not for the first time I am confused and a bit disappointed by the carry on of Celtic PLC

Agree0 Disagree2

Big Forster will get a move he deserves, Barca for him £8mill

Agree0 Disagree0

RD was informed first that Forster was leaving and a shortlist was drawn up on who he would like to replace him and RD picked Gordon

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think we'll take this as a marker that silly season is officially upon us...}

Barca have already signed Ter Stegen, Roddy. I think it will be Spurs for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed don't know what the problem would be by signing Craig Gordon he may not have been a celtic supporter but if he can prove his fitness and regain his past form he could be an excellent signing.
You don't have to be a supporter to sign for celtic you just have to give your best for us look at the likes of Mcgrain and Dalglish

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Where did I mention anything about him not being a CFC supporter? He's nearly 32, has 2 glass knees and has hardly played a match in FOUR years, it doesn't really fill you with confidence does it? Does Deila even know who Gordon is and who sanctioned the deal? There's interference from someone and the new manager is hardly in the door.}

This is going sound like a tall one, but here goes. Just spoke to my sister who lives in Norway, asked here about RD and she is saying that he was on the Norwegian news that he is on his way to Glasgow this tonight, hopefully not on a moonbeam.

Looks like we could be signing Craig Gordon folks.

Believable8 Unbelievable8

Deal almost done Chris, shouldn't be too hard to finalise? Looks like it could come down to lenghth of contract games played and/or reacurrance of injury, he's been training with us for a few weeks so all must seem ok.

Agree1 Disagree1

Good bit of business IMO, great if injury free, predicted he would have been one of Keane's first signings so happy enough

Agree0 Disagree1

Craig Gordon. I can't believe we're going after a can't who trained wi Sevco, Hearts n even Dumbarton without earning a deal last season! Who sanctioned this?! Desmond? Lawwell? Park?

Agree1 Disagree0

@3 HB
His injuries were perceived as being career threatening and he was not looking for a contract from The Manky Mob or Hearts quite simply training facilities with professionals who he could gauge himself against as part of his rehabilitation. If Celtic sign him (he will have to pass a stringent medical before being offered any deal) it may well soften the blow a bit if Forster leaves as anticipated especially if he gets anywhere near the form he showed for The Embra Manky Mob before his £9 million transfer to Sunderland.He is still young enough that his best years could be ahead of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - A near 32 year old GK with two dodgy knees who has hardly played a match in 4 years does not have his best years ahead of him by any stretch of the imagination. If Sevco were signing him we'd be pi$$ing ourselves laughing at them, at least Kenny Miller has been playing football the last few years. Gordon was very interested in signing for for the Zombies, or Hearts, as soon as he thought he had a chance of playing again.
Do people actually think about the standard of players we are linked with or do they all just miraculously become great signings one way or another as soon as we're linked with them? How the hell would signing Gordon soften the blow if Forster, an English World Cup GK, left? Gordon has played in 16 matches since the last World Cup, would you be confident going into CL qualifiers with Zaluska or Gordon in goals?}

If celtic sign Craig Gordon and Forster leaves then I'm gonny be really really worried, what sort of ambition is this!!, a 32 year old keeper with two dodgy knees and hasn't played in 3 years is just utterly pathetic. Fair enough if Forster does stay, I wouldn't mind him fighting it out with zaluska for number 2 but If he's our number 1 nxt season then it speaks volumes to whoevers sanctioning this deal, disgrace!

Flight from Oslo arriving in Edinburgh at 20:40 this evening. Ronny Deila?

Believable8 Unbelievable5

05 Jun 2014 16:07:26
LLF1, I doubt it. Is that a special flight or is it just a normal flight between the 2 cities?
And if it is Deila why is it not flying to Glasgow? I know we're playing our CL qualifiers at Murrayfield but I didn't think we had moved the whole club along with it.

Agree1 Disagree0

Well let's just pay the club what they are due - he's on £200,000 a year with 2 1/2 years left on his contract, so just give the club the half million they are due, for God's sake what are they arguing about now? We wouldn't like a Real Madrid trying to get someone off us on the cheap - for once show a bit of class. They are a tiny little club that need/deserve every penny they get, especially if they have produced a good upcoming and progressive coach I/WE want. I said at the outset Thomas Tuchel for me, but I wanted a young dynamic coach with modern ideas. Hopefully going forward the team will be fitter/more technical/braver on the ball, and that's just for starters. Guys like Allardyce and Curbishley should be old old news, yet they are still revered in certain quarters, I could list a hundred managers/coaches and all they think about is getting the ball wide and whipping in random crosses, it is pure pot luck, and deserves nothing. It is like the goalkeeper randomly kicking it out every chance he gets instead of giving it to feet, bizarre. I'm excited at the prospect of this guy, watching Celtic recently was like watching any British team over the last few decades, what is so fecking hard about being original?

Agree2 Disagree1

^ agreed

Agree0 Disagree0

Paul are we not a business? Personally I don't give a crap how much compensation we pay but why don't we let the guys who know the business negotiate?

Agree0 Disagree1

Paul
I'm excited too. Possibly.
But I'm also disappointed our club, and the board in particular, doesn't have the self belief to go out and get a guy who has worked at a higher level, no matter what it costs (within reason).
