Rumour going about is Sunderland r looking at Gary hooper and are willing to pay about 8-10 mil for him

Believable7 Unbelievable23

Make it 15 - 18 million and i might believe you

Belfast Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take it and have a clause in the new contract that if he plays for england then we r owed another 3 mill

Agree0 Disagree0

15-18 million llf keep dreaming

Agree0 Disagree0

Not happening!

Agree0 Disagree0

NO NO AND AGAIN NO. WE MUST KEEP
HOOPER TO SEE HOW WE GET ON IN EUROPE.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol no chance celtic will not let hin go at any cost this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers sold Jelevic way too cheap if we do have to sell Hooper then the key will be add ons and a cut of the hefty re-sale that Sunderland will no doubt make- Randolph

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye but they had to sell Jelavic, there's the difference.

Personally sounds like a crock o sheet to me

First time poster on here but read all the time. Surely the likes of Cove Rangers, Spartans and teams of similar ilk should surely be asked to apply for the vacant position in the sfl. The fact they have been adhering to the footballing laws and running there club properly puts them in front of any newco club that can't provide the relevant financial documents deemed necessary by sfa laws. Why after everything that rangers have put Scottish football through are the sfa bending over backwards to keep them in Scottish football. Yes there is the money issue but is it not time for all clubs to tighten their belts and prove to the world that you don't have to cheat to win the league. I will miss the old firm games but life will go on. The money that rangers have stolen off clubs in the past, ie European revenue from campaigns that rangers have competed in will now go to the Scottish clubs that deserve it. This will more than make up for gate money that will be lost by not playing them. Now is the time to get behind ur team and prove to the ones who think they have done no wrong that Scottish football can and will survive without them and will prosper.

Salmon Bhoy. {Ed038's Note - Welcome to the site mate}

Believable15 Unbelievable6

Big mistake mate these teams wont get a sniff of the 10 million it takes us to get near it and we are far better than anything in the league. also just look at these teams last season getting beat 3-0,4-0 by rangers who were not very good at all the co efficient will go down and there will only be one champions league place up for grabs and my money will be on us to get it.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is still money to be made in the Europa league that would be very valuable to the likes of hearts dundee united etc. Approximate figures from Aberdeens last Europa league outing brought in about 1 million. It goes without saying that champions league money is looking good for us. As for co efficients it is undoubtedly gonna suffer but having rangers is not gonna help us for years to come if ever. They are never gonna come close to competing with us for years.

Salmon Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously? Have any of you deluded guys read the statements recently? I think now that the decision to reject rangers from the SPL has been made official, the other SPL clubs, and SFL clubs, have done their sums and have realised the financial implications of rangers going to the 3rd division. And it appears that it may indeed be the fact that clubs, albeit SPL or SFL, will be heavily financially affected?! I think the phrase may have been along the lines of 'the slow death of Scottish football'? Have a think guys! Will affect future 'attractive' signings, revenue, excitement, interest, co-efficient.... And all for what? A few million and the season to be over by November? J

Agree0 Disagree0

Zombie FC not banned from Europe for 3 years anyway? So all this about the co efficient is just scaremongering from the powers that be! Get them to the west of Scotland league for 3 years then let them apply for the 3rd, spfl2 or whatever there gonna call it.

Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov has vowed to "keep fighting" against his leukaemia.

Petrov, who was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in March, said the past few months had been very tough.

But he said he now felt much better and, with a few more months of chemotherapy remaining, believed the "hardest bit is over".

"I am just not going to stop fighting. I have always been a fighter and I will just keep fighting," said Petrov.

Petrov, who was confirmed as club captain by new Villa manager Paul Lambert, added that he would remain patient and was confident he would recover.

"I've been a strong character since the start of my career," he told Aston Villa's official website.

"I always believed that you need to be patient and you need to believe in things, and I believe I will get better.

"I know I've got a few more months of chemotherapy and I need to go through it, but I think that the hardest bit is over and from now on I just need to wait for the result to be positive."

Petrov visited his Aston Villa team-mates on his 33rd birthday and received a warm welcome, including a rendition of Happy Birthday.

"It is great to see the boys. I'm OK," he said.

"I had a tough three months but I'm over the hurdle at the moment.

"It is a good day and I hope I will keep receiving these messages for a few more years - a good 50 years!"

Petrov was also keen to praise Aston Villa masseurs Andy Smith and Alex Butler, who are cycling from Celtic Park to Villa Park in September to raise funds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

"It is great what they are doing for the leukaemia research and for me as well," he said. "It is going to be tough for them but they have been working really hard.

"I said to them if I go in remission and I can do a bit of training I can do one of the stages with them."

If Rangers don't get into division 1 it won't be the end of Scottish football as every team can just do as rangers did and start as a newco keep there name history and get rid of all there dept . Surly the SFA won't have 1 rule for rangers and 1 for everyone else.

I Wonder

Believable16 Unbelievable5

That's the problem were facing mate! Rangers have to got to the 3rd division! The clubs want it, the fans want it, even the newco fans want it! What will the blundering idiots running Scottish football do? I think everyone knows the answer! according to the mouths that are John Brown and Andy Goram it's already been agreed newco will parachute straight into the 1st Division! Corruption at the highest level if u ask me!

Byars

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers fans actually want to go to the 3rd division fair play to them

Was thatv agreed at the masonic meeting then

Agree0 Disagree0

You celtic boys are unreal,do you really really enjoy this your friends, cousins, workmates and all decent bears and you all know we exist enough is enough we have been shafted with dm cw etc but you lot are in for a long few seasons and guys like santa cruz and whoever else you are looking at aren t coming to play for the hoops for anything other than money cause lets face it game over and will be so boring till we come back, you will have europe but as usual all over for november as per usual or like us last year 3 weeks into season so have your moment but deep down you good celtic guys will miss us nothing better than getting it over your rival then your mate, cousin etc good luck and i'm being honest i'm from coatbridge and saturdays will never be the same for a while and i think we will all lose intrest for our game especially the old firm game cheers bhoys from a big bluenose in australia

Agree0 Disagree0

The spl & sfa are nothing but dodgy car salesmen and crap businessmen, why all the public scaremongring, scottish football will still exist (as some bottom 6 teams only played them once at home), sky tv deal is crap, and all they say is were doomed, lets let a new team into top league.
The sfa has always been run by ar@eholes which is why scottish fitba is a laughing stock. jj

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2012 15:55:55
what all the spl fans should do this season is try and sell out there stadium or close to it for every match and prove that we dont need rangers. motherwell, hibs, hearts, and other teams who have been to finals recently and took good supports to hampden now its time to see u going every week to ur so called local clubs instead off just cup final day

Believable24 Unbelievable6

Agree with you there m8, these clubs cant just rely on Celtic to fill their stadiums 4 them but on cup finals they crawl out of the woodwork to go to hampden

Agree0 Disagree0

What about the hundreds of buses that leave every local town for parkhead or ibrox every week. Scotland would be a decent league if it wasnt for a bigoted nation!!

Agree0 Disagree0

What a load of crap people only go to Celtic and rangers because were a bigoted nation.
People support both teams due to success.
Man utd biggest supported club in the world. Barcelona , real Madrid why are they well supported nothing to do with bigotry its success that breeds fans. Look at man city due to there success the are getting more fans . I know many non catholic people who support Celtic and vice versa . It's people like you who make comments like this who always looks for excuses to pin everything on the old firm.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post, been thinking that myself.these teams take 20000 to hampden when they get there.how come the cant pack their stadiums week in week out.and they call us glory hunters!

MK BHOY

Agree0 Disagree0

The annoying thing about these 'wee' teams is, from a club point of view, they get to a cup final and suddenly have 25k+ supporters, yet a week later only 5k turn up to see them....why is that?

well, for some it's because they have no chance in the league because of the (now defunct) old firm dominance, but with dead rangers gone....suddenly every team has a chance of a european place.

as usual, the msm have failed to report that so far, almost all teams in the spl have shown an increase in season ticket sales. i said a few weeks ago, that teams like killie, st mirren, etc only need to sell around 2k more season tickets to make the dead rangers scenario meaningless, and already this seems to be proving to be true (is this why the majority voted NO, because they have already seen an increase in ticket sales?)

maybe now, these wee teams fans will start supporting their team and stop moaning about the old firm, now that they all have a chance of success.

rangers dying could be the greatest thing to ever happen for the sake of scottish football

taco

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said,if we (all spl fans) join together as a nation and support football every week we will generate a lot of money and have great atmosphere at all grounds.

Agree0 Disagree0

U,s lot are funny how can Scottish football survive without rangers get real no sky no tv money simply wouldn't work so get real {Ed038's Note - Who's this " RANGERS"?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Why no tv money?? what...none at all? seriously, you think NO broadcaster will cover the spl?

deluded till the bitter, bitter end

taco

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers fan here voted for and hope we are in sfl 3 next season i think the tv revenue is the least of the spl's problems mr lawell knows what is coming his way now that is the sole reason for his and doncaster and regan wanting to put rangers into the sfl 1and believe me lawell is involved because he and the celtic fans don't want to give up 50% of gate receipts that ppl is what these other clubs are after because they might have it in for us just now but they don't like celtic much either if this happens it will be the turn of the little teams to bleed the big team dry.

Agree0 Disagree0

If the other spl teams try and push thru takin 50% gate money, all Celtic need to do is sell scarfs at 500 and throw in a free season book. The only gate money would be from those fans who buy a ticket for that particular game. Hbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Boycott kilmarnock

Agree0 Disagree0

More lies from the darkside about gate money. The Champions give half to Motherwell who come to the Champios home, KKeeeRRR CHHHiiinnnggg loads of money. Then the next week Motherwell need to give Ross County half the Fir Park money, then ICT have to get half then Hibs... The figures don't add up, try an think about. All the smaller clubs will have to give half of their gate money as well. Say Aberdeen get 8000 in to play St Mirren who bring 200 fans, will Aberdeen be happy doing this all season just becuse they get half of 2 gates a season it Paradis, it wont even come close to adding up.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was always talked about split gate money the problem now is with only one old firm team in league that gate money has been halved and the top 5 clubs would loose between 900000 to 1.8 million

Hay folks haven't been on in awhile. Got to say loving life without rangers the world seems like a better place with out them ;). I see the Big Donegal keeper has left
Man United. His name is Coll. He's 18 and is 6,4 or 6,5. He quit united because he want getting enough playing time. I'd love to see Celtic have a look at him because he's looking for a new club. There's only one big team in Glasgow. Bigirishmac

A message for Mr Regan. Money is not everything. Anywhere other than div3 and the games a bogey in Scotland as far as im concerned. Even the Sevco fans are telling you they want div3.
I genuinely believe this could be turning point for the better with regards to Scottish football. By the time Sevco reach the SPL there will hopefully be at least 1 more challenger to Celtic making it at least a 3 horse race. If money is that important to some of these clubs they were obviously teetering on the brink anyway, and we have been delaying the inevitable for some time with them.
Unfortunately if having integrity means the demise of 2 or 3 clubs im afraid thats whats got to happen.

Joeshmo1888

I agree, i hope there 2-3 other clubs challanging for the league and the 2nd cl spot, and hoepfully this will help improve the league and the teams itself so that the league remains compeitive

hey ed, wondering if you know if we have made any official bids for any players (apart from FF)? not too long till the qualifiers so hope NL and PL have something up there sleeves. Cheers.
Seano {Ed038's Note - The only bid I know of is the Henriksen one, Celtic are talking to the player's advisers but there are other clubs interested and willing to match the asking price, I'm not sure about the Ciani interest that could just be agent talk again.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Nice one cheers mate. Henrikson is the one i'd like to see, not seen much of him apart from youtube, but there seems to be alot of hype about him. Think the Jordan Rhodes scenario has gone a bit OTT with his valuation from Huddersfield. Ciani looks a big dominant lad, exactly what we need.
Seano {Ed038's Note - I think Ciani would be a brilliant signing he looks like a bobo type player, Huddersfield are asking stupid money for guy who was playing league1 football last season, I would go as much as 4m but anything over that is madness}

Agree0 Disagree0

Reports say Lennon will be in Ireland tonight to watch Henrikson play for Rosenberg v Crusaders! And talks will take place about his transfer to us! Here's hoping. Looks like a right good player and at a good price as well

Ice man

Agree0 Disagree0

Henrikson is rated as one of the top young midfielders in europe&is in the Norway squad already, theres no chance we'll gt him as the SpL aint a league hes gna want to play in.

Let's get back to talking football...
How many of you, like me are now looking
forward to this season?
With an extra euro place up for grabs,
I can see Dundee Utd, Hearts, Aberdeen
Motherwell etc.. all putting in a strong
challenge. I hope fans of every team
in all divisions come out in bigger numbers.
I am quietly optimistic, given a decent
qualifying draw, that we can reach
group stages of Champions League.
I also hope our other SPL teams pick
up some much needed co efficient
points.
Lennon has done well in clearing out
a lot of squad members, not likely to
get many games if any. What is it 9?
There is talk of Ki going also for £6m+
let us hope it is all used to bring in
players of the calibre/potential of
Henricksen, Rhodes etc.. and a good
centre half.
Finally pals and I talking in pub and
agreed if we could not make an away
Celtic game then to go and support
say Clyde, Partick etc.. I hope all our
fellow tims will give some extra support
to one of their local teams.
hail hail Timalloy

Believable6 Unbelievable4

You see the other teams in the Premier league getting stronger just as their income is cut drastically ? Do you read newspapers and managers comments ? motherwell , St mirren , dundee utd and kilmarnock so far have cut their budgets ! How are they gonna be better next year ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant wait for the season to start but we do have a friendly against Norwich on the 24th July (season book) I do hope its a full house and that we all buy our scarfs etc for the new season from the CELTIC SHOP support CELTIC.

Good find jungle bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Just read it mate.I think that any sharp lawyer, and that is what he is,can make a case for almost anything. The overriding thing that strikes me is he has missed a point. The SPL is a separate entity from the SFL,although both run under the SFA banner. The legalese he uses seems to pertain to the Scottish Leagues,as the SPL was not formed at this time.So rangers(ia),having left the umbrella of the Scottish league to play in the SPL would have voided any agreement,i would think. This would leave them needing to gain entry to the SFL structure..........green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers GJ mate.My head is scrambled by all the goings on over last few months that i can't make any sense of it anymore.I believed they were clutching at straws but nothing would surprize me with the SFA,SPL and SFL if they managed to balls it up.The three stooges in charge of these couldn't agree on the colour of sh1te.

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

As Mr Jhedi points out, a lawyer can make a case out of anything, but the one thing ADS is forgetting is that the SPL is a seperate entity from the rest of scottish football, the only connection it has with the sfl, is the promotion/relegation process and the yearly funding of lower league football which was agreed at the breakaway.

the spl are governed by sfa rules, but they have no influence over spl affairs

Duff and Phelps, administrators of The Rangers Football Club plc (in administration) issued the following statement today.

"We have written to all shareholders of The Rangers Football Club plc (in administration) to provide notice of a general meeting of the Company to be held at Ibrox Stadium on July 31.

"The resolution to be put forward at that meeting is to change the name of the Company to RFC 2012 plc and there will be no other business on the day.

"This is a procedural measure in order for Sevco Scotland Limited - which acquired the business and assets of the Company from the administrators on June 14 - to change its name simultaneously to The Rangers Football Club Limited."

Jungle Bhoy.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I had raised this to collegues many a time when i thought about celtic keeping the athletic club name under a separate company.

Agree0 Disagree0

Once again.... They cannot use ANY variant of "Rangers" until Oldco is liquidated.(12 months approx) without ok from Liquidators. BDO not D&P!!

Also was in Glasgow last week. Noticed sports shops still selling oldco kit.

When will Newco be launching theirs? surely with new crest and doubt "Tennents" will stay ala AUDI.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds to me like they are excepting that the name cannot be transferred or used by newco by changing their name and dropping the trade mark the name would be open for anyone to use so the newco can grab it i would be surprised if a company facing liquidation would be allowed to change their name
