Celtic to renew interest in QPR's Jay Bothroyd with loan proposal

Striker has appeared to be out of favour at Loftus Road

Neil Lennon set to offer a loan move to Parkhead

Believable1 Unbelievable13

And your source is? Wouldn't want him near Celtic as he has already knocked us back......DH

Agree7 Disagree0

So did stokesy

Agree6 Disagree1

Me either DH..think its in tomorrow's Guardian - Mrs E

Agree1 Disagree1

I know wot u mean but I've always been a believer that if u knock Celtic back u shouldn't get a second chance ,to tell the truth I forgot about Stokes no doubt there's been a few others ,just an opinion.....DH

Agree0 Disagree1

Never going to happen got offerd a good deal at Celtic park but we could not afford 25k a week on a ST that was over the hill he was going to replace big Sam but he didn't

Lennon wants 2 players

1. Rhodes- if not we will take sharp but hopefully not

2. St ledger -there was talk on Aton ferdinand but can't see that unless walk nock buys someone really good

Hi ed. I couldn't believe my eyes in the Irish Independant newspaper we were after Keane. I'd rather get someone else in permeantly sick of the talk about robbie. How many players do you think we will sign this month? By the way ed match of the day is on lol. Am sorry lad had to get that in there lol. Bigirishmac {Ed007's Note - Don't believe it about Keane BIM, it's just a natural occurrence when every window. I think we will bring in 2/3 players, it depends who leaves as well though. I think I will swerve MOTD cheers.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Kean would do a job but he is a money grabbing little t*t he is Kent to be a Celtic fan but yet will not lower his wage demands

Any Celtic fan that was a true fan would play for free infant probs some people that would pay Celtic to let them play but I understand it's a business and no one works for free anymore

Rhodes is who we need young Scottish talent that we can turn in to a great before we cash in on about 20mil we get from man utd 3 years down the road lol

Agree15 Disagree2

Hope Keane never sets foot in or near Parkhead again.Money grabbin get

Unless he is there to pay to watch lol

Most probably Aug 2012 for start of a new season a guess would be the sensible time to bring it out.

Hi Ed ,
Have you heard anything of Liverpools interest in Kayal . I have heard Celtic do not want to let any 1st team regular away but Liverpool are proving hard to turn away £s wise .
CelticMatt {Ed007's Note - There is no interest in Kayal from LFC Matt.}

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Dunno why theres no intrest he would walk into their team better than everyone of their midfield except for lucas and gerrard. same goes for any of our first team centre mids {Ed007's Note - It's not my fault is it? I only answered the guys question *rolls eyes*

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd bite their arm off at 5m for Kayal. I like him, but he's been injured three times in 16 months and seems he's made of glass. Don't think we could bank on getting 5m for many players at cp right now.

Agree2 Disagree13

Seems hes made of glass?, injuries are part of the game no? he came of 2nd in a full pelt 50-50 with a thug of a player who was trying to injure him, hes a battling midfielder and the way he plays he will always pick up injuries, cant please some people!

Agree11 Disagree2

Y would we sell kayal and wot r u on about that we wouldn't get 5 mill for many players right now ..."DH

Agree4 Disagree1

Why just cause we are a Scottish club let are players go cheap clubs from brazil don't they get top dollar and a sell on fee kayal or Ki goes I say slap 25mil on there heads and say we want 50% of the sell on fee but we mite take 19mil and 30% fee lol WE ARE CELTIC NOT TAX DODGERS when this fair play rule comes in u watch Celtic prosper Hail Hail

Agree6 Disagree2

Slap a big price on their heads and let teams come knocking worth a try

Wow can't wait to see it but sky just said that Tim Howard of Everton (goalie) has just scored!!
Their strikers cant score for toffee (pardon the pun) Cahill ain't scored for a full year. Must be mental when ur goalie has scored more than the strikers! Bit like Macgregor but in a different way lol ;)

Just seen this on Twitter, not sure how credible it is:-

SUNDERLAND GOALKEEPER A BOSMAN TARGET... Former Scotland No1 Craig Gordon is apparently set for talks about a move to Celtic in the summer. The 29-year-old is out of contract and Martin O'Neill is unlikely to offer the former Hearts shot-stopper a new deal following his injury problems with the Premiership side. Roy Keane bought Gordon for £9million in 2007 and he has made just under 100 appearance for the club...

Mrs E

Believable14 Unbelievable3

Would have him in a minute would be great signing, would his wage demands not still be of EPL standards tho>?

Agree8 Disagree2

Would be a great acquisition for us, IF he's fully fit!

Mrs E on twitter..........get you Mrs!

DazzaBhoy

Agree5 Disagree0

Supposedly going to offer him 20 grand a week and 7k win bonus

Agree5 Disagree2

He has broke the same wrist twice, to injury prone

Agree0 Disagree0

O'Neil is not stupid he will give him a chance before letting him go I mean he will sell Celtic to any player but Gordon still has at least 5 good years at the top level but if Celtic could get him and Forster then at least we would have real fight for the number 1 spot unlike now where we have 3 keepers 2 just don't care if they are warming the bench

Agree5 Disagree1

04 Jan 2012 19:16:03
Have it on good authority that celtic will sign jordan rhodes for four million but the deal won't happen until the summer as huddersfield don't want to sell their top striker,celtic will miss out on baba diwara as he is set to sign for a Chinese team

Hoopy

Believable9 Unbelievable15

And what good authority would that be?......DH

Agree4 Disagree1

What sell on fee from the initial £4m paid would you get on someone who has had league 1 and spl experience and that's on the assumption the lad will score goals and stay injury free up here? I've never been sure about this one. By Lennon's standards he's never splashed cash on someone who's not established at the top level. Can't see it happening.

Agree1 Disagree1

I take it gary hooper (scunthorpe utd ) was a buy from a team at the top level

Agree3 Disagree0

Rhodes will be a celtic player soon no EPL team will come in for him yet and yea maybe a few cheap teams but whats he going to win with them he will sign stay for a few years and move to a big team

Agree2 Disagree5

Hoops was playing for Scunthorpe in the fourth richest league in Europe in the Championship and only cost half of what is being quoted we're prepared to spend on someone who's not proved himself at a higher level.

Agree3 Disagree0

^^^ ive made this comment on various posts, it seems this lad is a hotter prospect than Mr Hooper, he who played at a higher level and had a greater scoring record than a certain Andy Carroll and we know how much he was sold for (£35m)the EPL are their own worst enemy paying way over the odds for players and if hes as hot a prospect as hes thought to be with all the premiership speculation, then hell end up on great wages in a mid-bottom prem team and win very little or nothing!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the prem prices etc but sad to say I don't think we can even risk 4m on the lad. We should be going down the loan route at this point in the season, get someone in who might not be getting regular football, but who has a proven record. It's worked in the past, would create a bit of revenue for the club if they've got the pedigree and would enhance the overall quality of our play.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldnt be too unhappy to lose out to the lad if the price is £4m, thats a big gamble if he fails, albeit unlikely but £4m for a prospect is not what we want or need, his club are quite rightly holding him for ransom and will probably get what theyre looking for, but not now in the summer. £4m should celtic spend it would be better spent on a proven, big CF that can score with head to convert the large amount of set plays Celtic get each game, not going to band names about but its something celtic need in my opinion! willybhoy {Ed007's Note - I've said that since the summer Willy.}

Agree1 Disagree1

If we don't take e chance we will never know look. At Henrik came to us yea played in a world cup and so on but he was un proven and with the green and white on his chest and the celtic family behind him what happens then I am not saying Rhodes is the new Henrik but with are support and with the players we have to set up his eye for goal would not doubt make him a Celtic hero

Agree3 Disagree1

I'd get Cha out as soon as possible, we have too many right backs now. And after his own goal in Europe and laughed I've gone right off the fella.

Believable11 Unbelievable3

Interesting debate 4 RB's at least, who goes?

I agree with Cha going but not cos he did that, he's just the worst of the 4, well maybe Wilson is but he's a legend now surely lol and he can cover CB.

Thoughts?

Shaunbhoy - evening Ed, seen our first Keano to Celtic post earlier, like Groundhog day but without the comedy eh? {Ed007's Note - Evening Shauny. The S*n ran the Keane story today, I heard about it last night and couldn't sleep for the nightmares over it. Luckily most people will have not took it seriously.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Cha has had some good performances, but an attacking full back, which is what we've used for as long as I've been watching Celtic, needs to have a final ball and sadly, most of the time, the lad doesn't. Unless you invest time like Strachan did with McGeady's end product then he might be a better weapon. BTW that goes for a number at cp right now, Mulgrew, Wanyama and Hopper by far and away the best distributors of the ball.

Agree2 Disagree0

IMO if we're to offload any of them Cha should be the first out of the door. I like his pace going forward and he's played well so far this season but Matthews and Wilson are better and obviously we're not going to offload Lustig as he's just signed.

I also think we should consider a short term loan (3 months, maybe allow the club an extension until the end of the season if we're injury free at RB) for Wilson to get his fitness up and get him some regular playing time once he's done with his operation and worry about the Wilson situation next season. In truth I'm not sure he has a future as a player that's constantly injured can't be relied on and the club may eventually see it that way. He was a cracking player last year, and good enough for the team. Just a shame his injury problems keep creeping up. {Ed007's Note - Mark Wilson and Cha are out of contract in the summer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think I'd get rid of Wilson before any other RB's. He is a good defender and has a good delivery into the box when getting forward, but he is far too injury prone. I don't see the point in keeping a player you know you're gonna lose 3-6 months a season.

Hello Edd. Im wondering if anyone has any information or romours on what is going to happen to celtic park for the commenwealth. i heard it is getting a new roof and making it more modern but dont know if true or not. {Ed007's Note - I'm not aware of plans to put a roof on the stadium. Have a look at this site:

Celtic should try and sign Fraser Forster as he is turning out to be a good goalkeeper and stopped making errors.

Believable15 Unbelievable7

A dont think we should get him, hes inconsistent and unreliable. We should get rid of all our fringe players who are out the team and get a good experienced goalkeeper.

another transfer window,we yet again linked with robbie keane ,fed up reading same crap.we need to get players out loovens bangura,rasmussen,mark wilson,cha du ri,juarez remember him,murphy then invest in a bit of quality.we have makings of a good squad but we need these players off wage bill asap.possibly could give bangura more time but he has to imprees coming off the bench coz he wont start until he does

Believable8 Unbelievable4

Mark wilson and cha are quality players and loovens has been great this season ya don't know wat ur takin about

Agree4 Disagree9

Wilson was superb last season and started well this season until injured so we need to keep hold of him - for me I would pick him first over cha! I really think rasmussen could still doa job and was never given a chance.

Agree5 Disagree3

Dont agree with wilson or cha.wilson has been a great servant n deserves a bit loyalty.never let anybody down.only last season he scored an old firm winner

Agree3 Disagree1

I think one of Cha or Mark Wilson will go, Loovens if we can get any kind of bid should certainly be allowed to go. Rasmussen has never been given a chance, I'd like him and Bangura to be kept, but the truth is if both remain with the club they won't both get a chance.

I'm not even sure if either of them will get a chance if the other goes.

JD

Agree3 Disagree0

I agree with the original post. Yes Wilson and Cha are good players but the rest need to move on.

Keep Loovens? U don't know what your talking about!

Richybhoy

Agree5 Disagree0

Bangura hasnt even been given a chance to prove himself and hes not long signed - not because hes pants but because hooper and stokes have been banging them in - why would you want to offload him?

Agree6 Disagree0

Would quite like to see mark wilson go. He did well last season at times but as a season ticket holder I see him home and away n the guy seems afraid of stepping over the halfway line quite often. He doesnt ever go to the by line if he can help it
Kevbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to get rid of glenn loovens, fair enough hes had a handfull of good games this season but that doesnt make up for a few years of realy below par performances

jonn daly to sign by monday half a million deal on cards,both clubs in talks,no centre halfs to come in unless we can get loovens off wage bill

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Have heard daly rumours could be a decent target man for when pitches start cutting up,we can be more direct

Agree3 Disagree5

Not sure about intrest but would a good player to have big and physical

Agree2 Disagree4

If we're gonna sign anyone fae utd i'd prefer johnny russel

Agree4 Disagree5

Sign jonny russel,your having a laugh m8 its a target man we need,you would know that if you watch celtic

Agree6 Disagree2

Both of them not good enough for Celtic, the team should be moving forward and thinking bigger if we want to win the league solidly and compete in Europe

Agree7 Disagree1

Got to agree we need a target man, the only striker with height is sammy but hes not an out and out target man, wouldnt mind cillian sheridan possibly on a short term return, was doin well at st johnstone until injury

Agree1 Disagree2

just trawled through the english pages on here,and almost every club is linked to rhodes,so safe to say that wont be happening.also no mention whatsoever on qpr or liverpool,or any teams site,about any interest in jellyfish,so wishfull thinking on that mobs part.only reference i seen to any old firm player,was someone on newcastles page saying he heard the toon were interested in a celtic midfielder,but no name mentioned,so even thats as vague as could be. {Ed007's Note - Rhodes won't move anywhere until summer. I am 99.99% certain of that, he doesn't want to leave and Huddersfield don't need, or want to sell.}

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Ed007 I really hope this is true I've got 20 ew at 10/1 for him being league 1 top scorer, going be a long month. Ha. {Ed007's Note - Your bet should be safe as long as he keeps scoring.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Why, as Celtic fans, are people so interested in what happens to 'jelly fish' and what rangers do? Who cares?!

Agree5 Disagree0

04 Jan 2012 15:03:36
Frédéric Piquionne from West Ham is apparently on the wanted list, I honestly think he's past it (8 goals in 53 apps since 2010) and Jonas Ivens from FC Groningen who is a defender. These rumours I've heard are a bit more realistic :D / :P

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Dont know much about Ivens , Piquionne is a good player on his day , but awful when its not , do we want or need another Sami ?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jan 2012 14:47:03
I know we have Fraser Forster on loan until the end of the season but I think he should be our priority signing as he has proved a lot of people wrong with his consistant good performances this year, he is still young could be a very good long term keeper for us.

Believable17 Unbelievable4

I must admit I was one of his doubters & would hide my eyes when the ball went anywhere near him but to his credit he's certainly been near faultless of late. He is only young & where was Allan McGregor at that age. Can't believe i'm saying this but he can stay - Mrs E

Agree4 Disagree3

I agree, or at least we should definitely look to bring the guy in (still wish we'd spend a good bit of money on a CB). I think he had a shaky start to the season but then so did the whole team and it's not as if he has always had a solid set of central defenders sitting in front of him and bar the Cha Du Ri own goal which admittedly was a howler I can't remember there being any that can be considered his fault, this season at least.

Still not convinced he deals with crosses particularly well but it's easily worked on. Shot stopping and the like is more of an instinctive thing and I think he's proven he's good in that department with a few top drawer performances. His distribution has also improved as last season I felt this was his main weakness.

The other thing is that good goalkeepers are hard to come by unless you're willing to splash the cash. Bar unearthing a rough diamond from the British lower leagues or abroad I can't see where we'll get anyone better that's not out of our price range or already on an EPL club's wishlist.

Agree0 Disagree1

At nearly 24, foster is in the exact same position as mcgregor was at rangers - first choice keeper {Ed007's Note - Or on loan at Dunfermline.}

Agree1 Disagree1

Hes good at shot stoping but his kicking is p1sh and for a big guy he doesnt look good at coming out and claiming the ball from set pieces, tbh id rather see Craig Gordan at Celtic

Agree4 Disagree3

I was at the 1st leg of the Sion game and he was a bombscare punching things when it was easier to catch it. But I can only imagine he got a rollocking that night as his catching of crosses has been a lot better since, he is not the finished article, but what 24 year old is (in any position)?

To be honest some of the rumours
iv read are ridiculous , we're probs
not going to get diawara(baba) , we
have a bigger chance of getting
someone in the 2million region instead
of 4 million and iturbe of porto pfffft ,
he's been named the ''upcoming''
messi! No chance at celtic park ,
even tho we are glorious HH! Think
we have a chance in templeton but
id preffer to stick with wee forrest
, iv heard from a few people that
we could be after Frazier Campbell
(sunderland) on loan and possibly
the signature of Mohammed Diame

Believable1 Unbelievable6

What exactly is your point. you've written a lot but said nothing. give us a clue........................please

Agree3 Disagree0

We will aproach Frazier Campbell(on loan) this month if Gary Hooper or forrest leave..

Agree0 Disagree9

Where did you hear about us signing Diame ? I would love him at Celtic but we dont really need him and he would never come to us because he is one of Wigans main players and there is a few other EPL clubs intrested in signing him when his contract is up in the summer.

Agree1 Disagree1

04 Jan 2012 13:05:09
James forrest to tottenham 8-11million celtic will use that money to buy baba diawara, jordan rhodes and david templeton also victor wanyama, adam matthews kayal ki will all stay, fulham to offer 5million for hooper, robbie keane will not sign for celtic, also celtic to bid for dean shiels of kilmarnock.

Believable3 Unbelievable26

Personally i don't see him pulling on the hoops as he is p1sh.

Agree0 Disagree0

It makes me laugh......."he'll move to us cause his dad's, uncle's friend supports us"! King Kenny was brought up a rankers fan yet starred for us. Maurice (judas) Johnston loved us yet played for them, and don't get me started on Miller or Pressley!

DazzaBhoy {Ed007's Note - Scott Brown?}

Yeah forgot Brown and his "famous tattoo", also Badboybob was on here a few weeks ago giving it large that James Forrest is a rankers fan! It' rediculous Ed!

Afternoon ED007, can you tell us if there are any truths in the rumours regarding Tottenham wanting Forster (do we have first refusal?)
Is Commons wanted by any club?
Also heard that Ki is wanted by Aston Villa, I know it could be paper talk but what is your opinion? Timalloy
PS heard Sally put in a bid for Connor Sammon but Wigan wanted C.O.D. ha ha {Ed007's Note - Afternoon Tim mate. We have first refusal on Forster as part of the loan deal with a fee of £2 million. If Spurs wanted to buy him they would have to match that fee plus buy out our option on the player (I have no idea the amount that would involve), it is more likely Newcastle would block the move because of bids for Harper or even Krul, who I know for definite Spurs are interested in. There is interest from the EPL in Ki and I would think if he was available then Villa would be interested. As for Commons I don't know of any club that has shown any concrete interest, there are rumours about moves/loans to the Championship but I think they might just be someone trying to drum up interest.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Even with first refusal, surely forster could reject the notion of singing and move to spurs if he wanted? {Ed007's Note - The deal is agreed, it is not first refusal.}

Bids for Ki,Forrest,Mathews,samaras are expected after clubs first enquiries have already been made! None will be encouraged unless big money is offered! Loan deals are being arranged for bangura,Blackman,rassmusan, andslane
Aston villa have also asked Neil Lennon what players he likes from a select few as they are plotting a cash plus player offer for someone!
