Any idea what the starting 11 is in tonight's game? Ian L

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Forster
fisher virgil trialist mulgrew
commons kayal henderson mcgeouch
balde watt

Agree0 Disagree2

Forster
Fischer Van diyjk Mouyokoulo Mulgrew
Mcgeogh Kayal Henderson Commons
Watt Balde

Only 2 plus points so far. 1 game closer to new season, 2, Henderson looking not too bad.

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree3

Never heard of the boy Henderson before. Strong enough team. Result is not an issue at this stage. Plenty of time to get it right. How did Balde look? Ian L

Agree1 Disagree1

I thought Darnell Fisher has a good game tonight. The overall performance was as you'd expect for first game of pre season but good to see the young guns get a run out.

Toffeebhoy

Agree3 Disagree0

Fisher at right back had a decent game, mulgrew, commons and Mcgeough not match sharp yet, crazy mistake by Fraser for the goal. Would've liked the game on a decent pitch,

Ska Bhoy

Agree1 Disagree1

Without going into it too much, Balde was crap, but Lennon did say he was raw, I didn't realise he was actually telling the truth! Early days.

Bigbadjohn

Agree2 Disagree2

What was the score?.mark

Agree0 Disagree0

Man Of The Match was Fraser Forster - without him Celtic may have lost by (at least) a handful of goals . For a Pre-Season Game, I thought he showed excellent form between 'the Sticks', and just mis-timed his 'push-round-the-post' for the goal . Hail, Hail!

Celtic are waiting to decide to open up the option of extending kelvin wilsons contract for another 12 months, surely there is nothing to think about? Was most consistent player for us last season in my opinion. Gandalf the green

Believable9 Unbelievable7

Not in my opinion, but he was a big improvement on the previous season. Hasn't fully convinced me yet. Moments like the mistake in front of goal against Aberdeen when robbed of the ball by Magennis for them to score and anytime I have seen him play at Hampden previous to the Hibs scottish cup final cakewalk.

I'll give you this, if he improves again on last season as much as he improved on his first season then he could go on to be a hero at Celtic but he's certainly no world beater yet.

My opinion on our 1 year option on Wilson is to wait and see how he gets on in the CL qualifiers and how he starts the season. I mean, why not? We have all the power which makes a change in modern day football. Make him earn the extra year. I'm not suggesting that we leave him waiting till it starts to play on his mind and possibly effect his performance on the pitch. Just give it 2 or 3 months. Its logical.

Stevensee88

Agree4 Disagree0

He's still got 1 season before Celtic decide to decide to activate this extra 12 months, the player has no influence on the extra 12 months, it was already agreed in the original deal.
No harm in letting it run till nxt summer at the most, Celtic in the right position in this deal, he's not worth mega so no point being held to ransom which could be the way his interview is aimed?!

Thank god read that McFadden is to sign two year deal with Motherwell because celtic don't think he can keep fit best bit of news I've read I hate McFadden had his chance to be a bhoy turned it down for the cash enjoy Motherwell ya fud. Hope Doyle doesn't sign either we've got much better strikers just a waste of a wage with no sell on fee. Gandalf the green

Believable13 Unbelievable8

So if a player doesn't sign for Celtic then he's a fud? that's a bit harsh man

Bman

Agree3 Disagree1

Bit of a nasty post, this. Not very "Gandalf" of you. JC

Agree6 Disagree0

I agree with you Gandalf mate. The guy is an absolute to55er. I'm embarrassed he has been linked with us for a 3rd time. He's not Celtic class in more ways than one and i'm delighted that's it put to bed for good now.

Injury prone, money grabber, knee like a ticking time bomb and a booze can into that bargain hence the reason he looks like Alfred Steptoe at 30.

Agree2 Disagree2

Cue Mcfaddens best ever season. The boys a good player, i'd have in the squad.mark

Agree3 Disagree0

Bman and JC he messed Celtic about twice so yes he's a fud he thinks we're going to rescue his career nah pal you had your chance now rot with Motherwell lol would be a waste of a wage though. And JC you think Gandalf would let Saruman join the good side after rejecting it twice? I don't think so mate lol. Hail Hail Gandalf the Green

Agree1 Disagree1

Na get Doyle signed up asap we going to need him, balde is gona take some time to live up to his hype, hoops is probably gona leave, watt still has an awfully lot to learn. So that leaves stokes. what if stokes gets an injury. And before you mention Sammy remember he is pretty much a left midfielder. And it should stay that way

Norwich are very close to the signing of Celtic striker Gary Hooper, reports in Norfolk are saying a fee of £5.5m fee has been agreed, expect Hooper to be a Norwich player by the weekend.

Believable11 Unbelievable13

Good luck to hooper been good for us it's a shame we will never see him play in champions league again though let's face facts Norwich probably will never even play in Europa league.

Agree5 Disagree1

Take the money and run! The guy wants to go, thanks for the service. If its international football your after you won't get it at norwich, if its champions league football your after again you won't see that at norwich. Two names from lower teams in EPL couldn't get a call up, Grant Holt. and Ricky Lambert, Lambert was banging the goals in for fun and got overlooked, Danny Welbeck got the call instead and had only scored 1 goal in 15 games and season before last Grant Holt looked a dif class in EPL and still didn't get a call up. I feel hooper thinks the grass is greener and will get a hefty shock if he moves away from celtic and end up regretting it big time.

Agree7 Disagree2

Farewell Hoops, you have been a dynamo for the bhoys in green. Good luck to him, although I second the post from the fella above that the moves shows no motivation/ambition. No European or International football for this fella ever again! I suppose the hefty wages EPL can pay will sooth that blow. HH ShottsBhoy

Agree2 Disagree2

How will he regret leaving Celtic? He will be tested every week against better players!

Agree2 Disagree8

The quicker Hooper moves on the better, getting sick to death of the rumours of where he will be playing next season. He obviously wants to leave so let him. If he was that good then the top epl teams would want him and not just the relegation candidates.

Agree5 Disagree1

@4 champions league football is better than epl, plus celtic made him who he is to Norwich for cash and England Norwich are a wee club with epl cash yeah spl isn't the best but now he has to play in front of crowds who create no atmosphere or passion.

Agree5 Disagree2

It's a better keeper than we have is required, anyone who thinks the Lank is European class is deluding themselves, Lennon has a great eue for a player but he made a blunder there. {Ed007's Note - You're on the wrong site, this is the Celtic pages. For The Rangers/Sevco page just follow the smell of fear and sh1te.}

Agree3 Disagree5

Good luck to him, he has been a great player for us, but I think he's overrated and will struggle in the premiership. The club should have cashed in on him in January and got more money then.

Agree2 Disagree0

@6 or the reply to 4 lol
What's wrong with wanting to go home? Hoopers obviously accepted that he won't play European football for a bit if he goes to these bottom teams mentioned!
He's came to Scotland, seen that its pish, and wants to go!
Can celtic guarantee him CL football? No! Unless qualifiers count? Which is still pish.
Yeah if he had more ambition then he could stay for another 2/3 seasons but he won't progress as a player, given that the mince he's playing in week in week out he won't progress much further. I would love the situation to be sorted as there's no gamble with him singing on again and as Celtic supporter I wouldn't comprehend these teams currently looking at him, BUT. Hoopers not a celtic supporter so I don't blame him.
Petrov left (not to go home) to try something else and progressed as a player without winning anything or much but it was right for him. get over it.

Bigbadjohn

Agree1 Disagree3

@4) There is not a single shadow of a doubt he will regret leaving Celtic now. He should have signed a 1 year extention, won a league title medal and possibly 2 cup winners medals while banging in another 25-30 goals for his CV and proving he could do the business on the big stage in champions league qualifiers and maybe champions league proper and then had a bigger club after him next year. Norwich is a dead end! There won't be any England call up, no europe, no more medals and it he will look back at the end of his career and know he should have been patient, spend another year with the biggest club in scotland and wonder what could have been.

You can copy & paste that and refer back to it in 7 or 8 years if you like.

Agree4 Disagree0

You lot are saying that hooper won't get international call up at ncfc, you ave named 2 players who haven't, and one doesn't even play for us, lambert.ruddy, whittaker, martin, hoolahan, pilkington, wolfwinkal, snodgrass, bassong, nuff said!

Agree2 Disagree0

@NUFC fan, keep your panties on and sod off back to the EPL pages! We are raging to loose our top goal scorer to a team of EPL no hopers (and don't even think about saying you are anything but!) we will carry on winning and competing in Europe every season and there are far better EPL English strikers warming the bench, Hooper has no chance of international call up where ever he plays. I wish he could see that and stay with CFC but hay-ho we will sign a new fella in the same mould and move on. HH ShottsBhoy

I know it is only paper talk but if stories about Celtic considering Cardiff's £11m offer for big Vic are true then I for one object. Article says "Cardiff agree agents fee and wages" but all they have done is knock off £1.5m from southampton offer to pay agent his £1m.
OK £11m is still good business but Celtic can get more or else Lawwell should up sell on clause to 15% so we get more money back when Vic moves on. Timalloy

Believable9 Unbelievable3

I don't think we even know if there is a sell on mate.Sadly the fact is lower to middle clubs are the only ones interested at the moment.I had heard the Liverpool rumour but with Toure signing I would think that might be dead. green jhedi

Agree2 Disagree2

No one even knows for sure what sell on clause/clauses are in the deal. All speculation just now. Maybe the Southampton bid was 12.5 and no sell on or add ons. Maybe this bid is actually better for Celtic in the long run. Like I say no one knows for sure yet.

11million for a player who cost 900k is great business in the light of day but I agree that we could have got a few million more if the agent hadn't opened his mouth. He probably put off a few potential bidders.

Agree3 Disagree0

With the news that Jonjo Shelvey is on the verge of joining Swansea for 6 million this could be the money required for Liverpool to to make a move for Vic. Just a thought!

Hi Ed - any idea if we are looking at Elderson from Braga - the Nigerian left back. He just fits the profile very closely - strong, quite young, english speaker from Portugeuse league, Nigerian international. he is far better than Izzy in the air, and I thought I heard we were having a close look at somebody from braga. He's in the final year of a 4 year deal so would be (i think) very affordable. Thx - Jean-Pierre {Ed007's Note - Sorry it took so long to get an answer. It seems that we have had him watched but the more serious interest is coming from Real Mallorca, Olympiacos and Lille. Norwich were also interested but they turned their attention to Martin Olsson from Blackburn.}

Believable4 Unbelievable3

I've watched the African Nations Cup and the Confed Cup this year and he has been outstanding in both competitions. Also keeping Juwon Oshaniwa out of the Nigeria team, a guy we have previously been interested in. Probably available for around £3million. Would be a great signing

Thanks for this Ed - much appreciated. No surprise that these teams are looking at him. (also no surprise we had him watched) Jean-pierre Laguerre
