What's weird is that he's trusted in an away tie in CFCs most lucrative match of the season, plays a stinker and then gets punted out on loan

Obviously we got Gamboa but it's obvious that SJ playing in Israel was forced and not volunteered

Efe not in CL squad either? What's going on there? He plays 3 positions ( albeit always prone to a mistake ) but his versatility would / could have been useful

The mad mad world of life at a football club

And commons? They'll have him operating the turnstiles next or on toilet cleaning duties

And the re birth of Forest

Agree0 Disagree8

04 Sep 2016 09:54:46
You're right efe is versatile, he can be horrendous
In all different positions! You want him in our CL squad? just as well your no manager.

Iceing on the cake of crackin last day to the transfer window!

Agree0 Disagree6

31 Aug 2016 22:58:28
Think that's is done for this window. No signing was going to make a difference for Europe and that's a fact! With the team we have and the signings brought in already, we are more than set for the league. If BR doesn't like something he can sign players in January.

I for one am happy with our transfers this summer.

A know it counts for nothing but Rodgers has left the training ground and going home for the night we did ask if there was anyone else coming in and he laughed so make of it what you want guys.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

31 Aug 2016 19:26:18
Don't think they need Rodgers to sign just Lolly aka Chairman, but nothing has appeared on any Newspapers pages or Sky Sports News so looks like an empty Wednesday transfer for us.

31 Aug 2016 19:35:05
Can you see if PL's car is still there?

Agree0 Disagree2

31 Aug 2016 19:51:27
Banking it now to spend it later may be the way to go.

Summer deadlines are always mental.

And although I'd love to compete with £10-15m signings - that just ain't our club.

Bank £30M now, concentrate on winning league, enjoy champs league nights as much as we can, qualify next year - with a warchest of £50-60m and hopefully a more favourable draw.

Surely we have enough about us now to win the league.

Agree3 Disagree5

31 Aug 2016 19:54:12
i think he, s got the team to win the league but he needs more strengthen the team to even get 3rd place in champions league so I hope he don, t let the door close on us as we have waited long enough to get back in .

Agree2 Disagree2

31 Aug 2016 20:21:14
just read on celtic news br saying buisness closed.

Agree0 Disagree3

31 Aug 2016 22:00:47
Have to laugh at 'warchest' next year comment. We've been here many times in the past, post Wanyama, hooper sale n CL last 16 cash we spent hee haw n the chat then was 'warchests' for next year, we work season to season n have for past 5-6 seasons. Toure will go next year as will Roberts n it's back to square one there, dembele for me is still raw n who knows if he'll come good, bit of a gamble. Sinclair is a class act and the type of business I expected more of. Still looking fwd to the season ahead but a few more of the pedigree of sinclair is what I was hoping for.

Agree0 Disagree2

31 Aug 2016 23:23:26
Terrible we didn't even get Henriquez for £1m what a steal that would've been! I'm sure Ciftci will fire us to the treble if Griffiths picks up an injury. I'm probably more disappointed with the dross that is going to be picking up a wage until January when they won't be kicking a ball. Ambrose, Boyata, Bailly, and to a lesser extent Ciftci Armstrong. I'd hope Ajer gets a run in the team and see what he can do.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 18:56:10
I will watch SSN until the bitter end in hope that lawell is going to get the job done - We know Rodgers wants 1-2 more and we should be looking to improve the team in light of the champions league money. Even if we don't sign anyone let's face it Kirsty Gallagher is worth watching man she is like a fine wine. BUT i just can't see us getting a deal done - Happy overall with the window but we should have pushed the boat out for a classy / creative midfielder. let's face it we are going to walk league but the hard earned season ticket money and numbers who backed the club deserve a team to be proud of. Come on Lawwell back Brendan and get it done!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 18:57:09
Money Talks - They will pay him more - i'd he come to us its for 30k not 60k.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 19:47:16
Mctavish in a loan deal the player still gets paid whatever his contract is, the clubs negotiate who pays how much. He won't get any extra for going to an English club. It would more than likely just be they would cover his wages, whereas Celtic wouldn't pay it all.

Not that I suspect a deal was ever close for us.

Agree0 Disagree2

31 Aug 2016 22:24:49
CE saying that they are done. Mccarthy not going there.

Agree0 Disagree2

31 Aug 2016 22:27:38
West Bromwich saying the same. could it be possible we have agreed a deal for him?

Agree0 Disagree2

31 Aug 2016 17:24:34
Been reading we are willing to let Efe go for free? He asked his agent to find him a club that will pay him around £10k a week. Rotherham are said to be interested. Anyone think Boyata will be shown the door too?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

31 Aug 2016 17:34:14
Efe leaving would make this a cracking window.

Agree6 Disagree3

31 Aug 2016 17:39:19
Easier to agree an exit with effe because his contract is running down.
Boyata could demand a large payment to go because he has several years left on his.

Agree2 Disagree3

31 Aug 2016 18:28:44
I place the blame firmly at lawwells door for boyata, Armstrong, GMS, Cifti bargain buys who no one wants, Effe you have to blame Lennon for we knocked back 3 million for him three seasons ago but the one that bugs me most of all is commons who is happy to sit on his 20k a week bobo Balde style can't blame him but he ain't interested in playing.

Agree3 Disagree3

31 Aug 2016 19:30:50
You don't actually believe we knocked back £3m for Efe.

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Sep 2016 14:09:47
I'm sure Dudu Dahan can find him a club abroad somewhere even if it is for £500,000 he is hardly asking for a big wage and will likely find himself in the reserves which for an International isn't going to do him any favours for selection for Nigeria. Surely we should be trying to shift Bailly too.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 17:03:29
Ed according to the TV we are not bringing anyone in we have explored targets it's not worked out so much for a marquee signing can't say am surprised.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

31 Aug 2016 17:18:53
No one later the club said ANYTHING about a marquee signing.
I am very happy with the business the club has done over the summer and I am happy the direction the squad is heading.

Agree6 Disagree2

31 Aug 2016 17:20:23
Same story every year need at least 2 players for champions league but typically won't spend the money.

Agree2 Disagree3

31 Aug 2016 17:27:56
There was never a "marquee" signing coming in anyway, just a couple of fans drunk on CL cash.

Agree2 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 17:35:28
Looks like the CEO has had a lot of people over AGAIN, I really do not believe that we are done with business today, BR knows that we are nowhere near the finished article that his standards (I believe) would want to step out and represent the club, so now Hardy comes to Hardy and we will see if football, History, Culture and tradition together with progress rule this club or if the board and its CEO could sell sand to Arabs.

Agree3 Disagree4

31 Aug 2016 17:37:01
McCarthy will sign for us before deadline.

Agree2 Disagree5

31 Aug 2016 17:45:50
We can say we are happy the way the squad is going I am to but I'm not happy if they think a million pound signing off the champions league fund is ecceptable nah not for me means the rest is tucked away in DD back pocket same old board. I'm probably going to get a lot of stick for this but we needed a creative mid and another striker.

Agree2 Disagree2

31 Aug 2016 17:49:13
Malika did you think we'd be the finished article after ONE transfer window like?

Agree0 Disagree2

31 Aug 2016 18:03:59
Agreed Sam. Striker and midfielder for me too and spending to date relative to cash in the door doesn't exactly reek of ambition for me. Great chance to make the champions league a bit more interesting and to sicken the forces of darkness and evil is missed if we don't get couple of signings over the line today.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 18:05:34
Sorry sam don't agree mate.
Have you considered the possibility that some of the players were looking at aren't available?
Im delighted were not panic buying and blowing 30m on crap.

There's another window before the end of the season and if we need to improve then we will.

Keep the faith dude hh.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 18:13:21
Kev83 of course not, but what I am saying is that BR would have targets that he would have sounded out the connections before CL qualification, and based on income generated from that, you could reasonably expect that deals would be done.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 18:18:24
About players being available all players are available if you have the the guts to use some of the CL cash to get them over the line. I don't want panic buys either but show some ambition McCarthy was mentioned days ago now everyone is jumping on him. We leave it too late all the time. Am not really interested in the January window get the players in now bed them in and have a right go go at the group stage and you never know what could happen. I hope am wrong and someone comes in tonight.

Agree0 Disagree3

31 Aug 2016 18:50:07
Mccarthy would cost about 20m especially since there are other pl teams sniffing about.
Hendricks went to burnley for 10.5m today and chelsea are re-signing luiz for 32m.

So 30m doesn't but you much tbh and if you think they will spend 30m of CL cash for 6 group games your dreaming especially since this is our first qualification in 3 years.
The aim is to qualify for the CL not to win it dude although I admire your ambition.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 18:53:10
What real difference would signing one more midfielder do to our hopes of getting out the group stages.
Even if the manager had spent
40 million this window we would be MILES behind Barcelona and Manchester city.
Both teams have player that could go for 100 million or more
James mcarthy isn't going to bridge that gap.
Wake up guys.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 19:26:38
Kev83 spot on.

Tbh tho this has all started when someone mentioned marquee players and to my knowledge it wasnt pl or br so affectively some fans have set themselves up to fail.

Agree1 Disagree2

31 Aug 2016 19:29:06
It wouldn't make any difference Kev, so it's fine to keep banking money, never really use it and struggle
To qualify for champs league because our squads good enough for Scotland lol
No ones asking for tens of millions to be spent!
We're barley spending anything!
Fans have been moaning for years about lack of spends now the same ones are happy we aren't spending 😂 How the f@ck does that make sense?

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 19:46:19
We have just brought in the most expensive manager our club has ever had.
We have made 7 signings this window
We are stronger in every area of the field and look like a squad that could win a treble.
Celtic fans now a days would have moaned about the money spent on larsson lubo agathe and big victor.
How much we spend means nothing just as long as we add quality
This summer we can actually say we have.
The team is really exciting to watch when in full flow and that's what I care about.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 19:52:40
Is 30m not 10s of millions? Which is what SOME fans want invested into the squad.

Dont get your point.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 20:57:38
Done it again kev well said.

Appointment of br alone showed ambition and so far signings have been great. This is an exciting time to be a tim given the last couple years.

Unfortunately for some its never enough

COYBIG.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 22:07:11
Pretty sure BR is quoted as saying he feels we needed a no10 type as we need bit more creativity. That for me says marquee as these types are exciting n tend to cost, the club doesn't need to say the word but I read into what the manager wanted n I doubt BR would accept a 3rd rate player in the role after having coutinho etc under his stewardship, he knows a no10.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2016 07:52:52
LOL he said he was looking at a no10 and you took marquee from that!

When we were looking for a gk did you think that was marquee ie de gea maybe?
Or a rb did you think lahm would come in?

Frightening man.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2016 10:20:00
I don't see why all the doom and gloom . we are way stronger this year than we have been in several years. Rodgers can't build a decent team in one window. We have to ship out dead wood too so it could be 3 or 4 transfer windows before we get close to a team that Rodgers wants. Let's give the board and manager time to build.

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Sep 2016 14:04:27
Defo marco, I think the problem here is you have common sense.

Someone mentioned marquee and some folk ran with it although the marquee thing never came from the club itself. I said 2 weeks ago there won't be a marquee signing and i'm not happy to be proved right but realistically what were some fans expecting.

The disappointed fans only have themselves to blame and are missing the bigger picture.

Good Luck to him, personally I would keep him, just to kill the Steve Gerard rumors, and save the salary difference we would be paying.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 19:00:21
We could reasonably expect to deals to be done, but unfortunately managers of clubs who have players to sell, can move the goal posts, or have them moved by the agents, Things are moving and continuously change in the football players trading.

31 Aug 2016 17:36:45
Looks like Torino are playing a game I am sure there must have been some sort of agreement for Celtic to let him go there for a medical now looks like Torino is trying to change that agreement.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 19:03:25
It looks as if Torino are playing fast and loose with this youngster . He may not be very happy in Scotland but I think he may be better off coming back to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 23:00:48
I agree Oldbhoy, he is a young player full of potential, the only realistic thing to do is, if he doesn't see his future at Celtic, is to convince him the best thing he can do is, once he is fit, to pkay out of his skin in the Celtic defence and move on to what he sees as a more acceptable club next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 16:40:40
According to Wullie Ballache Celtic approached Stoke about signing Bojan Krkic but he has chosen to stay at Stoke. At least gives us an idea of the type of quality player BR is trying to get in.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2016 16:39:57
ED007 rumours I have heard is that Celtic are waiting on the Jozo transfer to be announced before they sign anyone else.
Surely, we should not be depending on this transfer to bring in someone ourselves, although it does sound like typical Lawwell penny pinching.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

31 Aug 2016 16:51:56

Hernanes has supposedly chosen to stay in Italy.

Jozo thinking he could just leave us like that. it must be his brass neck Sky were talkin aboot! lol HH.

31 Aug 2016 12:24:35
Heard that Jozo failed his medical when signing for us but
PL pushed through the deal as wee had just be ko from champs league and sold VVD so he needed to sign someone to appease the fans, celtic been told by medical staff he will never be fit and celtic have sent a phisio to Italy to help try and push this deal through .

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 12:41:51
Not read anything to say Jozo pushed for the move. Still find it weird that Torino would want someone in his condition. If he stays and somehow gets fit we would be well covered in that department, if he goes we'll recoup outlay.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 12:46:44
I heard when he signed he was going to give us problems with game time due to injuries. Thing is fo we keep him on the off chance he lasts injury free for a run of games or cut our losses and sell him. If it was a panic buy lawell will be glad to see back of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 12:53:48
I would find it highly unlikely PL would sign anyone who failed a medical and if it was to please the fans what benefit would there be to the fans bringing in a player who can't play.

Think someone is pulling your leg man.

31 Aug 2016 13:08:34
My concern is that we were maybe going to use his transfer fee to fund an incoming transfer for today. I hope this doesn't block any moves.

Sly sports news still reporting he is in Torino for medical? No mention of failed.

did we honestly expect anything else. he has only returned from a serious injury and has hardly trained.

Hope this is false. More so for the Jozo this would be demoralising for him.

Apparently he has extra fluid in his knee but Torino are still interested in a deal.

The rumour doing the rounds this morning here in sunny Dundee is that Gary Mackay-Steven will make a loan move to DUFC by the midnight deadline. Shame as I really liked him as player and felt he would of did well under Rodgers. Always felt Ronny Delia restricted him as a player as when at DUFC his skills were top class. As I can recall that seemed to disappear after joining Celtic.

His problem at Celtic was the same at united, not consistent enough n doesn't always deliver in the bigger games. I like him as a player, n Rd gave him game time and he had some really good games n scored here n there but couldn't maintain the form. I do believe he is a confidence player n maybe the step up to Celtic surprised him. He has skill, pace n can score a goal, if he can do it on a more regular place we have a player n I'd be glad 4 him to get game time n come back with games under his belt n a bit more belief or confidence that he can play at that higher level, I don't mean in the league I mean from united to Celtic, that's a bit step up n there have been many who couldn't make, including from our own youth.
Like a few others, Henderson, nesbit etc I'd like to see them loaned out if they aren't going to get say at least 10 starts n however many appearances from the bench, you can't beat playing week in and week out and I would like to see us for now and in the future having a nucleus of Scottish players, it's something Rd liked to do and I think if brendan can get the right players in, or just in form it would be great to see us build on thst Scottish element.
It gives the youth something to aim for and for too long Celtic haven't brought through our own youth n even bought n played enough young Scottish players.
We produced Kieran Tierney and there are others there who are and will be good enough.
Hail hail.

Ambrose however lol.

Ed you heard anything about Sakho on loan? My Liverpool mate reckons this is one of our targets today.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Klopp wants Sakho gone but the asking price is too high so he will therefore likely have to go on loan. The player has rejected the opportunity to join Besiktas, Stoke City and WBA but Sunderland might be more appealing to him.
As far as I am aware there has been no contact from Celtic regarding Sakho.

From the Mail:-

Celtic offered chance to sign international striker

Celtic have been offered the chance to sign Dinamo Zagreb striker Angelo Henriquez, according to the Daily Express.

The 22-year-old - who spent three years with Manchester United without making a Premier League appearance for the club - is available for around £1m, the Express reports.

The Express adds that Brendan Rodgers hopes to add another midfielder and forward to his squad before the deadline, so perhaps the chance to sign the Chile international may appeal to the Northern Irishman.
